Hey everybody how are you all doing. Short chapter but a chapter none the less. I do not own RWBY or Game of thrones they belong to their respective owners enjoy.
FIRE and BLOOD in Remnant
Mountain Glenn Honesty
General James Ironwood is looking out from the landing docks of Beacon Academy to the city of Vale at night, a few airships hovering over the lit-up buildings. Walking up from behind him is Glynda Goodwitch.
"Trouble sleeping?" Glynda asks.
Ironwood is looking back, gripping his shoulder with the other hand. "Arm was acting up." He spoke.
"Of course, so logically, you got out of bed, dressed yourself completely and decided to gaze menacingly out into the distance." Glynda said as she approaches all the way to his side, then looks at him concerned. "What's wrong?" She asks.
"I've trusted him for years. We both have. I just... I can't help but feel like he's keeping us in the dark." Ironwood said disappointed.
"Don't be ridiculous! You know very well that we are not the ones in the dark." Glynda retorted.
Ironwood laughs humorously before speaking. "That makes it worse! I refuse to believe that a man that I've trusted for so long would act so... passively."
Glynda puts a reassuring hand on her friend's shoulder. "You're a good person, James. You've always done what you think is best for the people, even against strong protest. It's admirable. But it's high time you stopped talking about trust and started showing it. Ozpin has experience that the rest of us lack. And I think that's something worth remembering." Glynda said as she drops her hand as they stare into the distance together.
The full moon is shining over the ruined buildings of Mountain Glenn, and a lone Beowolf is searching through the rubble. It looks up briefly at the young girl who has it in her red crosshair scope, but Ruby Rose just lowers Crescent Rose and sighs in tiredness at she keeps lookout over the destruction. The rest of her team is lying down on their sleeping mats around the fire with weapons nearby, and Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck is higher up, slumped down against the wall next to the hole in the ceiling/floor. The other four members of RWBY have their eyes closed, but Yang Xiao Long is the first to stop pretending.
"Blake, are you awake?" Yang asked.
"Yeah." Blake whispered.
"Why do you think he asked us about being a Huntsman and Huntress? Like, what was he trying to say?" Yang asked.
"Maybe he was just curious." Blake asked.
"You think?" Yang asked.
"No." Blake stated.
"Weiss, are you awake?" Yang asked.
"Of course, I'm awake! You two are talking. And I think he... When I said I wanted to honor my family's name, I meant it. But, it's not what you think. I'm not stupid. I'm fully aware of what my father has done with the Schnee Dust Company. Since he took control, our business has operated in a... moral gray area." Weiss said.
"That's putting it lightly." Blake said.
"Which is why I feel the need to make things right. If I had taken a job in Atlas, it wouldn't have changed anything. My father was not the start of our name, and I refuse to let him be the end of it." Weiss said determined.
Yang turned to Draegon and before she could speak Draegon cut her off. "I'm awake Yang," Draegon said with his back turned to them. He sat up and turned towards them.
"Part of me has thought about all this and what I said but I don't think I can change my reasons." Draegon said seriously. Team WBY looked at him and he continued.
"There are two sayings that talk about my family that have always stuck to my head the longest. One of them is Madness and Greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a Targaryen is born the gods flip a coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land. I do not think that's true and you want to know why? Because it was choices that they made on their own that led them to their fates. My ancestors don't believe in many gods, they forge their own path. I mean look at Aegon the Conqueror he stopped seven kingdoms that were constantly at war with each other. Sure, he killed thousands but he saved millions in the process, I don't think his coin landed on either side when people said it landed on one or the other and I always wanted to think like that. I did what Huntsman and Huntress failed to do, I got their missions done when they couldn't or wouldn't even without Drogon help, and I think that there is no coin for me and why I didn't want to become a Huntsman. I'm just Draegon Targaryen, I'm neither Mad nor Great and a year ago being a Huntsman was pointless because I was already doing it." Draegon said and petted the sleeping Vhagar.
"What is the other saying then?" Weiss asked feeling slightly bad for him and wanting to change the subject. Draegon smiled a little.
"A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing, which led me to why I decided to become a Huntsman," Draegon said and WBY looked at him confused before he continued. "After my village was destroyed all, I had was my brother Drogon he was only family I had then but I couldn't talk to him. I can understand his emotions but I can't have conversations or do other things. Everyone was afraid of myself and Drogon, but two people weren't. Ozpin wasn't scarred and a part of me felt relieved but there is something about him that seems off to me." Draegon said and then looked at Ruby.
"Ruby on the other hand was different she wasn't scarred of me or Drogon. Well, she was startled, you all were but she was excited and she instantly wanted to be friends. Both Ruby and you Yang along with you two Weiss and Blake accepted me not just because we were formed into a team. You didn't know what a Targaryen was you just saw me as a normal person and when I started telling you about my family's history that didn't change any of your views on me. That then told me that all of you have pure hearts and honest souls. It made me happy and I made a vow to help protect you all from danger, don't get me wrong you can all protect yourselves pretty well but it never hurts to have a friend nearby. Ruby asked me to come to Beacon so I decided to oblige her and I'm glad to see my efforts weren't wrong. I was able to make so many trusted friends and now I don't feel alone anymore." Draegon smiled and WBY all smiled. Blake however soon became confused.
"Then what was the selfish reason you came to Beacon?" She asked. Draegon nodded and sighed.
"Drogon slaughter thousands of Grimm under my command and I killed just as many maybe even less with these swords. The reason I did this is not to help people but because I'm looking for a specific type of Grimm. It wasn't just Bandits and Jack Jewel who destroyed my home. There was a Grimm they're that I never heard or saw before but what was weird was I didn't see it I only heard it from behind a door my mother was protecting me in. The Grimm did something that I and all of you wouldn't believe but I heard it…." Draegon paused and WBY leaned in for suspense before Draegon continued.
"It talked," Draegon said and WBY looked in shocked and Oobleck who was sleeping but listening frowned.
"I know it's hard to believe but it's the truth, the voice belonged to a woman and it sounded so evil that if I ever hear it again, I would know instantly. That's why I came to Beacon because while I killed Jack Jewel and the bandits, I know in my heart that the talking Grimm is still out there. I can never sleep easy knowing my mother's killer is still at large but so far, I haven't found anything. I heard a rumor from someone who said they encounter a Seer Grimm that could speak and I thought it could be the same one that killed my mom. However, I haven't found anything since. That was why I came to Beacon not just to stop being alone but to also get justice." Draegon said sadly thinking his friends would be disappointed in him but they weren't. Blake decided to speak up to change the subject of Draegon sadness and speak some of her own.
"All my life, I fought for what I thought was right. I had a partner named Adam. More of a mentor, actually. He always assured me that what we were doing would make the world a better place. But of course, his idea of a perfect future turned out to be not perfect for everyone. I joined the Academy because I knew that Huntsmen and Huntresses were regarded as the most noble warriors in the world. Always fighting for good. But I never really thought past that. When I leave the Academy, what will I - how can I undo so many years of hate?" Blake asked.
"I'm sure you'd figure it out. You're not one to back down from a challenge, Blake." Yang assured.
"But I am! I do it all the time! When you learned I was a Faunus and Draegon was the Fire Demon, I didn't know what to do, so I ran! When I realized my oldest partner had become a monster, I ran! Even my Semblance! I was born with the ability to leave behind a shadow of myself; an empty copy that takes the hit while I run away!" Blake said sadly.
"At least you three have something that drives you. I've just kinda of always, gone with the flow, y'know? And that's fine, I mean, that's who I am. But how long can I really do that for? I wanna be a Huntress, not really because I want to be a hero, but because I want the adventure. I want a life where I won't know what tomorrow will bring. And that'll be a good thing. Being a Huntress just happens to line up with that. I'm not like Ruby, she's always wanted to be a Huntress. It's like she said, ever since she was a kid, she'd dreamt about being the heroes in the books. Helping people and saving the day, and never asking for anything else in return. Even when she couldn't fight, she knew that's what she wanted to do. That's why she trained so hard to get where she is today." Yang said.
"Well, she's still just a kid." Weiss said.
"She's only two years younger. We're all kids." Blake said and Draegon nodded.
"Well, not anymore. I mean, look where we are! In the middle of a warzone and armed to the teeth!" Yang said.
"Even if it's challenging, we do whatever we have to, to survive," Draegon said.
"It's the life we chose." Blake added.
"It's a job. We all had this romanticized vision of being a Huntress or Huntsman in our heads! But at the end of the day, it's a job to protect the people! And whatever we want, will have to come second." Weiss said.
The apparently-sleeping Oobleck has a small smile when she finishes.
"We can only do are best," Draegon said.
"It may come second but we'll help you find this Grimm Draegon you don't have to do it alone okay," Yang reassured him and Weiss and Blake smiled and nodded in agreement. Draegon nodded his thanks to them but they were all unaware that Drogon was watching them with one eye and heard everything as well.
Yang has taken up watch, allowing for Ruby and Zwei to sleep on the sleeping bag Yang had been lying on. Zwei suddenly wakes and stands up, causing Ruby to wake up.
"Huh? Zwei, it's late. Go back to bed." Ruby whispered. However, Zwei runs off.
"Zwei! Zwei! Ugh!" Ruby called as she wanders out of the building, looking for Zwei.
"Zwei! Zwei, where are you? Zwei! Huh?" Ruby asks as she spots Zwei urinating on some ruins.
"Zwei, this is a wasteland! You literally could have done that anywhere!" Ruby said exaggerated. Zwei Barks in reply.
"What was that?" White Fang Guard 1 asks.
Having heard the White Fang Guard, before Ruby can react a pair of hands appear behind her grabbing her mouth and shoulder and pull her back behind some ruins. Ruby looks startled but sees its Draegon who in turn lets her go and quickly puts his finger to his mouth and Ruby nods. They quietly look to see two White Fang soldiers.
"What was what?" White Fang Guard 2 asks.
"I thought I heard a Beowolf or something." White Fang Guard 1 said.
"Hmph. Let's just finish our patrol and get back to base. This place gives me the creeps." WF Guard 2 said.
As the White Fang Guards walk away, Ruby, Draegon, and Zwei sneak around in the background, following them. They eventually reach a ruined building with a pair of metal doors, and Ruby and Draegon hide behind a corner, holding Zwei out to watch them.
"Did they go in yet? One bark means yes." Ruby asks.
The sound of the door closing echoes out. Zwei Barks.
"Oh! This is it! This is it!" Ruby says to Draegon she brings out a small scroll and tries to call her teammates. However, the screen says "Low Signal" "Aw man! Come on, we gotta get the others!" She said and Draegon nods. They soon take off running and Ruby decides to ask Draegon a question.
"How did you know I ran off?" Ruby asks. Draegon looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
"Your whispers are kind of loud," Draegon said and Ruby chuckled nervously. They all hurry off down the street. However, the asphalt beneath them suddenly sinks before caving in. Draegon grabs onto a ledge and Ruby grabs his foot and catches Zwei. She quickly tosses him up out of the hole and Draegon begins to attempt to pull themselves up. However, the ledge he is holding onto breaks off, and they plummet into a huge cave filled with ruined buildings, far below the surface. She lands on a building up against a cavern wall, Draegon however is not so lucky as he roles to the side and falls off the building but manages to grab one of the ledges below. Ruby gets up and goes to help him, when a nearby door bursts open to reveal two other White Fang Guards, one of whom is Perry.
"Freeze!" One White Fang Guard said.
"Where did she come from?" Another one asks.
As the White Fang Guards walk forward, Ruby backs away only to end up on the very edge of the platform. She looks down to see Draegon silently climbing up. She quickly waves him to stop and Draegon narrows his eyes but complies.
"You're a long way from home, little girl." The White Fang guard said snidely.
Ruby reaches back for her scythe, only to realize that she doesn't have it. Both guards approach her, and one of them grabs her arm.
"Hey! Hands off!" Ruby retorted and struggles. Ruby jerks her arm out of the guard's hand and starts punching him. It has very little effect, and he punches her in the face hard enough to knock her down.
"The boss is gonna want to see this one..." The White Fang Guard said.
The guard kicks her in the head hard enough to knock her out.
Draegon reaches the top to see the White Fang carrying her off. He narrows his eyes and pulls himself up to where Ruby was once standing.
"Aw crap," Draegon said as he drew not only Blackfyre but also Dark Sister from his sheaths. He slowly followed after Ruby and the White Fang.
Yang gets up and stretches and walks back to the sleeping teammates. "Hey Weiss, it's your... Ruby? Hey, where's Ruby? Also, where's Draegon?" She asks.
"What?" Oobleck said as he showed his head from a corner.
Zwei comes running into the room, barking. The baby Dragons start jolting awake and start screeching sadly noticing Draegon isn't there.
"Zwei?" Yang asks surprised.
"What's going on?" Blake asks.
"Grab your weapons! Your leader and teammate may be in trouble." Oobleck said. Balerion growls and they look to see himself along with Vhagar and Meraxes climb into Draegon bag that he left behind. They stick their heads out and look at the team members.
"I guess that means they're allowing one of us to carry them temporarily." Weiss said. Yang nodded and grabbed the bag and slung it onto her back.
Ruby awakes to the two White Fang Guards who caught her dragging her by both arms through the underground city. All around her, White Fang members are at work, doing various things such as piloting a Paladin to carry large shipping containers. There is a loud sound nearby as one of the White Fang members drops a large device.
"Hey, be careful! What are you trying to do, blow us to the moon?" A White Fang Guard accused.
"Sorry sir!" Another member said.
"Hey boss! Found something you might want to see!" Perry called out.
Roman speaks inside of a railcar, "Is it good or bad, Perry? Because let me tell ya, I have had a day." He spoke.
"Uh, it's a little girl?" Perry asked/answered.
Roman leans out through the doorway and sees Ruby. "That would be bad." He spoke.
Zwei leads Oobleck and Ruby's teammates to the hole that Ruby fell into, and Yang spots Crescent Rose next to the hole.
"Ruby's scythe!" Yang said shocked.
"Oh no." Blake spoke worried.
"Do you think she fell?" Weiss asks.
Oobleck looks up before he spoke "Fell?" He asks.
"Down there." Weiss pointed.
Oobleck looks down at the hole. "Oh my. Of course! Of course, OF COURSE, OF COURSE!" Oobleck shouted at the end.
"What is it?" Blake asks surprised by his outburst.
"How could I be so stupid?!" Oobleck asks.
"Dr. Oobleck, what's wrong?" Yang asks.
"Mountain Glenn! Yes, an expansion of Vale that was inevitably destroyed by creatures of Grimm! Previously home to thousands of people! Working people commuting to the city, the main city! Developed a subway system to the inner city! Grimm attacks increased! Population in danger, now desperately searching for shelter! City evacuates into the metro tunnels and what do they find? The southeast quadrant of Vale is known for wild forests and deep caves!" Oobleck explained as he paced back and forth.
"Doc, what are you saying?" Yang asks.
"My dear, we're not just looking for an underground crime network, we're looking for an UNDERGROUND crime network!" Oobleck repeated.
"They've been working in caves?" Blake asks shocked.
"No, no, Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time, thanks to an aggressive perimeter defense, and unique transportation; the city developed an elaborate subway system to carry citizens safely from the new territory into the main Kingdom! Sadly, without the many natural barriers Vale had to protect its borders, Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start! As the end drew near, the citizens of the territory made one last attempt at survival: They took up shelter beneath the city! In massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway. And they had cut themselves off from the surface!" Oobleck said.
"An underground village?" Yang asks.
"In a matter of speaking, yes. A safe haven. Until... an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern, filled with subterranean Grimm. After that, the Kingdom officially sealed off the tunnels, creating the world's largest tomb. If Ruby and Draegon are down there," Oobleck deploys his weapon Antiquity's Roast, "we must find them..." he said. A large gust of wind blew their hair and they looked up to see Drogon land gracefully on the ground on the side so more of the road doesn't cave in. He sniffs the hole and growls at them before he backs up. That confirms that they're down there.
Four White Fang guards are protecting and entrance to the train station where Ruby is. They soon here footsteps walking towards them. Draegon appears from the shadows with both swords and his red hood up covering his white hair, they raise their guns at him. Draegon narrows his eyes, he dashes forward at high speed that surprises them. Before they can react Draegon is behind them with both swords covered in blood. Two heads fall off and some blood splatters on the other members. They get frightened and see Draegon purple eyes that have slits. The members both staggers back scared but Draegon doesn't even give them a chance to react. He swings both swords and each one cuts the last two members heads right off. Once they fall to the ground Draegon flicks both his swords and the blood comes clean off and they look as if they have just been cleaned. Draegon looks down at all the headless members.
"Be thankful I gave you all merciful deaths because I will not tolerate anyone who hurts my friends at all. I will only give them FIRE and BLOOD," Draegon said darkly because he was mad that Ruby was hurt and didn't want him to get caught as well. So, now the White Fang don't deserve mercy. Draegon went through the entrance to continue his search for Ruby.
Well what do you think. Also I'm sure you've heard about RWBY Fairy Tales is going to be released at the end of the month to make up for Volume 9 delay. So I guess I can look forward to it. Once again please comment on what you think of the chapter and in the last chapter please vote on who you want Draegon paired with and why. Have nice day everyone.
