Chapter 6

Beta: Darklord331

Hermione –

She opened her mouth to lie but Harry interjected, "Professor, Hermione was in here due to some students saying mean things about her. I don't remember which students though."

"I was out here waiting for her to come out, that's why I came to the feast late, ask any girl that was on the first floor the whole afternoon. She didn't know about the troll, Professor… if we hadn't run over here I…" Harry seemed to pause as if he was pondering the implications.

And it wasn't lost on her. She could have died. She bit her lips and tears began to prick the corner of her eyes. If it wasn't for Harry, then she would just be part of the ruined lavatory. Ha, how ironic, here she was pondering leaving Hogwarts, then she nearly had a near-death experience.

"Even so, that was reckless of you to rush over here…" Professor McGonagall scolded, "But you saved Miss Granger's life, and both of you will be coming with me to explain to Headmaster Dumbledore exactly what you did."

Soon after being questioned by her Head of House and the Headmaster as they questioned her as the troll was taken care of by the other Professors they were sent back to their dorms

The next morning Hermione woke up and she still couldn't forget it.

Maybe he wasn't so bad after all, she felt a bit guilty for assuming that he was lazy. Still a bit dizzy from the previous night she shook herself out of her stupor, got dressed and headed down to the common room, hoping she could apologize and thank him as she hadn't done so yesterday.

Harry –

I gasped for air as I finally stopped casting in the Room of Requirement.

I had spent my time between classes and studying everything he could from the books provided by the Room of Requirement and training.

Because as easy as the troll was, it was still one of the weakest things I'd face this year, not accounting next year too. Basilisks, Dementors and having another face to face encounter with Voldemort? Not to mention, The Horcruxes that needed to be destroyed before Voldemort could truly be killed. Yeah, I needed to get better.

[The Boy-Who-Lived]

Objective:

Destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes(0/7)

Kill Voldemort

Rewards:

?

(Accept/Decline)

That question mark pissed me off, more than I thought it would. The last time I completed one was… with Piers? After I killed him I got a 'Gacha Token', and I received a plastic bottle.

Training and exercising only did so much, doubtedly more now since I was still 11, and after reading ahead, the only thing I could have done to speed everything up is by undergoing a ritual.

I already had a few of them planned but only one could be done currently and I haven't decided on which one to do yet, as it took time between the rituals.

Most rituals, as I had found out, were just permanent versions of Potions. And yet they were still hidden in the Hogwarts Libraries and by the Ministry.

Runes were part of the process as you needed to specify what you needed, as well as Symbolism of the ingredients and its magical properties. Astrology was also another factor in the success of the ritual, some required there to be a new moon, and dates were important as well, as halloween would be best for a ritual tied to death as it is when the barriers between life and death are most weak, not saying you couldn't do it randomly but it would have helped.

I had my eye on two rituals that I wanted before confronting Voldemort this year.

One of them didn't have a name but it was one that was around the founder's time. It basically enhanced your mind, it was a way to improve the foundations of your mind and make you more focused.

The ritual is supposed to be performed before any type of Occlumency is learned. After Occlumency is mastered, your memory is amplified and it stacks on the ritual, strengthening your mind as well as your Occlumency. With the Gamer ability however, I wouldn't know if it would join it or something else.

Either way I need this if I was going to fight Voldemort. There was also another one that focused on improving the functions of the body, fixing my eyesight and giving me a stronger body as well, but that one needed more ingredients that I still need to order.

Shaking away from those thoughts I focused on my spell work.

Flicking my wand, using magic. I smiled as I watched the wand fly from the hand of the dummy, a feeling of pride swelling in my chest.

Silent magic? Easy peasy.

Lifting my wand and returning to my practice. One dummy was destroyed, then another was disarmed, and another.

[Wand-Magic] (Apprentice)

Using my other hand, I used telekinesis to grab the targets and crush them where they stood. And then I proceed to hurt each dummy that the room gave.

Some were crushed, some were hurled into the walls, I took their limbs and made sure that it separated from their bodies.

The targets fell to the ground in pieces, if not outright mangled.

I staggered to a chair that appeared when I thought of one and just collapsed. A glass of water appeared near the chair floating until I drank from it, disappearing after I finished it.

I sat there for a while as I tried to catch my breath.

Name – Harry James Potter
Level – 30 [Exp – 270/23,250]

HP – 430/430 [86 per minute]
SP – 120/430 [86 per minute]
MP – 125/800 [178 per minute]

My spells weren't the only thing that changed. It seemed that my stats were hidden or at least, the format changed. And speaking of changes…

Shape
This will control the way the components of the spell will work. They are required for every spell, as no spell can have a functional purpose without a method to cast it, whether touch, projectiles, or AOE, etc.

Components
These will dictate what the spell will do and what use they will have. They are separated into 3 categories: Offense, Defense and Utility.

Modifiers
Modifiers are components you can attach to an actual effect. Modifiers also improve how the spell's effects scale with stronger casting modes.

It seemed that I unlocked a new aspect of the Gamer System.

{Shape|Projectile}

Shoots a ball of magic that holds the spell component.

{XXXXXX}

XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX

Other than Projectile, everything else was grayed out. The same with components and modifiers though the difference was that each category had one.

{Component: Offense|Physical Damage}

Damages the target Physically as if they were suddenly punched (Can be specified using modifiers).

{Component: Defense|Slowfall}

Target loses falling speed.

{Component: Utility|Leap}

Launch the target forward.

{Modifiers|Range}

Increases the range of projectile and XXXXXX spells.

So If I use Projectile, with Physical Damage and Range I get.

[Magic Strike] {Projectile|Physical Damage|Range}
A ball of magic that will strike the target.

Casting it, the spell appeared as a glowing green ball. Tightening my fingers around it, it felt like a baseball.

A human-like target appeared in the room, I threw the ball and it landed near its chest, and the target fell as if it was pushed harshly.

While it was very much interesting, my skill in telekinesis as well as the fact that my repertoire of HP spells are now much larger and easier to use than the new system.

So I'd use them and maybe try to experiment with this new system.

Time Skip –

"On my whistle," said Madam Hooch. "Three... two... one..." and she blew on her whistle as she launched the Quaffle into the air as high as she could.

"THE QUAFFLE IS RELEASED, THE PLAYERS ARE AIRBORNE AND THE GAME IS ON!" Lee Jordan roared into the microphone.

And I got reminded why I didn't like sports events.

"AND COLLINS HAS THE QUAFFLE FOR SLYTHERIN AND SHE'S OFF UP THE PITCH FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY HER TEAM, MAKING USE OF THE ARROW-POINT FORMATION! AND WHAT'S THIS? GRYFFINDOR SEEMS TO BE GOING ON THE DEFENSIVE!"

As the Slytherin chasers tried to get passed, they were no match for Gryffindor's defense, and once they took the quaffle they bolted to the other side, creating a game of chase between the chasers as they raced to the Slytherin goal posts.

"The Gryffindor's expected a more aggressive play-style and so they played defensively until they could get the quaffle." I said, as the Ravenclaw quidditch captain, who I now knew was Jamie Carter.

"Yeah, they reacted accordingly, their captain is one hell of a guy." He said, smiling a bit.

"SPINNET PASSES THE QUAFFLE TO BELL, THEY'RE CLOSING IN!"

I had to admit though, as loud as the cheers were, I kinda liked it.

"AND LOOK AT BELL FLY SHE SHOOTS, OH AND BLETCHLEY MAKES A SPECTACULAR SAVE AS HE THROWS THE QUAFFLE BACK INTO PLAY!"

Cheers and groans make their way across, as each stand makes their opinions clear.

"EDWARDS HAS THE QUAFFLE, HE DODGES A SPEEDING BLUDGER AND PASSES THE WEASLEY BEATERS. OH BOY, EDWARDS HAS PASSED TO COLLINS AND SHE SCORES TEN POINTS TO SLYTHERIN!"

"You saw that? That is what we're going up against." He said, pointing to the chasers.

"Stop scaring him Jamie." Anna said, a chaser said. She was on one of our three chasers, me being one of them and Olivia being the other one.

"I still can't believe you're joining us for the next game." Olivia said, as I sat between her and Olvia, with Jamie behind me.

The chasers managed to score another two goals apiece putting the score at 0-30 in Slytherin's favor. Within half an hour, the tides turned and Gryffindor was ahead with thirty points, making it 70-40.

"THAT HAD TO HAVE HURT, WOOD TOOK A NASTY BLUDGER TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD AND APPEARS TO BE UNCONSCIOUS!"

Wood was knocked out and had begun falling off his broom but luckily the Weasley twins had been near him and had managed to catch him and lower him to the floor as Hooch blew her whistle stopping the game.

"Uh oh." Jamie said.

"'Uh oh'? What do you mean 'Uh oh'?" I had to ask, because a concussion wouldn't be the worst thing that happened to this school and Madam Pompfrey can heal those just fine.

Madam Pomfrey raced onto the pitch and began running her wand over Wood. We were too far up to hear what she said, but she seemed to have been conversing with the other Gryffindors.

"ALRIGHT FOLKS, IT SEEMS THAT WE WILL HAVE A TWO-MINUTE BREAK!"

"Wood is their captain, and he is the main guy who has all the ideas to keep the team going." Jamie explained as one of the seekers took the captain's badge, as they hauled away the unconscious Keeper. "Not to mention, that they only have one Keeper, so they have to play a man down and defensively as well."

"Oh, do they not have any back-up players?" I had to ask, as memory served, they still didn't.

"No, they don't." Jamie explained, as they looked at the two teams who seemed to be strategizing. "We don't know why they don't have any, but we do."

"Nice to know that I'm that replaceable, really feeling the love here." I said, sarcastically.

"Don't worry, you're pretty irreplaceable, hon." Olivia said, as she hugged me from behind and put her chin on the top of my head.

"Olivia, please let me go." I said, trying to stop the redness on my face.

"Aww, but you look so cute." she said, poking my cheek as she grinned.

I had to look away to keep my blush to myself, and focused on the game.

"AND SPINNET REPLACED WOOD AS THE CAPTAIN! HOOCH RELEASES THE QUAFFLE AND THE GAME IS BACK ON!" Jordan yelled to the roaring approval of the supporters. "COLLINS GRABS THE QUAFFLE ONCE MORE AND SHE'S OFF UP THE PITCH. SHE DODGES THE GRYFFINDOR BEATERS AND THE THREE GRYFFINDOR CHASERS, SHE SHOOTS LEFT NO! SHE PASSED TO BLETCHLEY WHO SHOOTS RIGHT AND SCORES."

And that's how the game played out for the next few minutes as the Slytherin chasers kept scoring on as there was no Keeper. Putting the score at 80-120 in favor of the Slytherin's.

"WAS THAT THE SNITCH?!" Jordan roared as he and the rest of the students rose from their seats to watch the two seekers race towards the tiny gold ball.

Terrance King, was the newest addition to the Gryffindor team, it was clear that he wasn't used to the position, compared to Higgs, however who was already quite used to the matches was clearly winning. Even though King was trailing behind him by a few feet.

"Come on, King, get that snitch!" Lee Jordan roared in excitement.

"KING! KING! KING!" Stands seemed to resonate and yell out.

King grinned as he heard his housemates cheering him on, as he tried to outpace Higgs. Moments later the Snitch shot towards the stands and Higgs followed it into an almost straight upwards race, followed by King who managed to pull neck and neck with the Slytherin seeker.

Moments later the Snitch leveled out and shot across the Pitch, the Seekers right on its tail, their feet skimming the grass. The Snitch led the two seekers around the pitch weaving in and out of players and at one point round and round one of the Gryffindor goal posts as it flew higher and higher until…

"Yeah!" Higgs roared in victory as he finally grabbed the tiny gold ball in his hand and raised her arm in victory.

"AND HIGGS HAS GOT THE SNITCH! SLYTHERIN WINS WITH 170-80," Jordan roared into the microphone, his voice hoarse from shouting for the last two hours. "I'M LEE JORDAN AND IT HAS BEEN MY PLEASURE TO ANNOUNCE THIS GAME TO YOU ALL, UNTIL NEXT WEEKEND WHEN RAVENCLAW AND HUFFLEPUFF FACE OFF."

Cho Chang –

Cho pushed her hair out of her face, the wind was icy and cold, and she eased her broom slowly up over the Quidditch field. She played seeker for the Ravenclaw House Quidditch team, and she was attending the last minute practice, she could see the others in their silver and blue robes, zooming around under her.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a glimpse of gold. Leaning forward on her broom, Cho sped after it. But Cho had been mistaken. It had been the flash of Olivia's earring, one of the other chasers.

"Why did she have to bring that with her?" she thought to himself, slowing down.

The others below him had stopped practicing their Quaffle passing and were watching him.

Cho quickly searched around for the snitch. Fluttering happily by the goal post she saw it.

She leaned forward.

As the stands flashed by, the snitch hoovered and then plummeted to the ground. Cho never lost sight of it. It rose again, and she rapidly closed in on his goal.

Inches away, she reached out and grabbed it. Its wings were frantically beating against her palm, but she hadn't seen where she was going.

She crashed into the grass.

The snitch was released from her grasp, and she slowly lifted her face off the piece of grass she had smashed into.

"Ugh," she groaned, slightly in pain. Thankfully the grass had softening charms on them.

Jamie helped her to her feet.

"Well that hurt," she sighed, as she thanked Jamie for his help.

"Cheer up!" Jamie said, cheerfully. "You're still the best seeker we have!"

"You mean our only seeker?" Jones said, one of the beaters as he hovered in front of her.

"Oh shut it," Cho said, feeling her face redden.

It wasn't her fault that the previous seeker stopped playing, wanting to focus more on his studies. And it was Ravenclaw so no one would have really batted an eye at the decision, however, leaving her as the only seeker put a lot of pressure into her shoulders.

"I think you'll do great this year," Jamie said, trying to cheer her up. "Alright that's enough practice for now, let's all go get some breakfast?"

"Yeah, sure," she said, picking up her broom.

"Hey, time to pack up, we'll go through drills later in the afternoon too." Jamie said, as the entire team landed on the ground.

"Nice flying," Olivia said. "Could do better, but at least we know you can chase it?"

"Hush you, I think you did pretty great, you're still a second year and this is also your first match." Anna said, smiling down at her. "It's okay to be nervous."

"Ah, thank you." she said, feeling herself smile a bit.

"Yeah, don't worry about the match, just try and get the snitch." Harry said, smiling a bit at her.

She should have been jealous that Harry was a first year while she had to wait until second year to play on the team, but when everything was said and done, she appreciated that the spotlight wasn't on her making any rookie mistakes.

And while it was a bit odd that she was being cheered up by someone who was younger than her, she'll take it.

And he is kinda cute too, boy-who-lived notwithstanding.

AN: Finally figured out how to continue and separate paragraphs, am not happy it took this long.

Sorry for the short chapter though, just been busy.
