Hey guys I'm so sorry this update is very late. My laptop went down and until now I haven't had a way to update anything. Now though I have a new wireless keyboard that will work with my phone. Okay guys enough talk I'll let guys read on.
Kris sat at the dining table having coffee with her dad. They were catching up on life and she was telling him about how drinks had gone with Cordell. When suddenly her cell phone rang. She ignored the call and kept on talking with her dad until finally her dad said.
"Might want to answer that."
"Hello.."
"Hey Krisa."
"Hey babe."
"Where are you?"
"I'm talking and having coffee with dad whats up?"
"Your friend Cordell the ranger."
"What about him?"
"I know where he is."
"Matthew, what are you talking about?"
"Have you gotten your dad to agree to move to Houston?"
"Not yet I'm working on it because I told you that I would."
"You have a week . No, actually you have 24hrs."
"Matthew, what are you talking about?"
"If your dad doesn't agree to move to Houston with us in the next 24hrs I'm going to kill the ranger."
"No! Matthew, please don't hurt him."
"Then get your dad to agree or your ranger is dead."
Turning away and walking into the room so her father couldn't hear her . Krisa felt the tears welling up as she spoke.
"You swore if I got my dad out of Austin and made sure Cordell didn't find out about your family's business deals that you wouldn't hurt him. You swore to me."
"Yeah and you promised that you would have your dad back in Houston in three days. Well guess what it almost up. You have until tomorrow night to get your dad out or Cordell Walker dies."
"Matthew, please don't do this. I need more time."
"Then Cordell is dead as is your love story."
"No please."
"Better say your goodbyes Krissy your beloved Ranger will meet his end soon."
Before she could beg him one final time the line went dead. Feeling her heart pounding in her ears. Krisa grabbed her keys, jumped in her car and headed out to the Walker ranch. She had to warn Cordell. She had to tell him the truth was the only thing running through her mind. When she got to the ranch Krisa didn't see Cordell's truck . Getting out of her car she ran up to the door. She had to force a smile when Abby answered the door.
"Hey Kris."
"Hey Ms. Abby, is Cordell here?"
"I think he left for work already."
"Okay I'll catch him later."
"krisa are you okay dear?" Abby asked, concerned .
"yeah just wanted to talk to Cordell about something."
"Okay dead if you're sure."
"yeah."
Krisa gave Abby a quick hug goodbye and got back on the road. Krisa headed towards Ranger HQ. She had to make sure Cordell was alright. As she was just about to make the turn on to the main road her cell phone rang.
"Cordell."
"Guess again baby."
"Tell you don't have him."
"Oh now I thought we agreed never to lie to each other."
"Can.. Can I talk to him? Please Matt, I need to talk to him."
"Fine talk."
"Cowboy?"
"Hey Kris."
"I'm so sorry Cordell."
"Hey no don't don't you dare blame yourself for this okay "
"I'll get you out of this I swear Cowboy I will."
"I know but listen to me. I need you to do something for me. Can you do something for me Kris?"
"Anything."
"Tell me you love me."
"What?"
"Tell me you love me."
Krisa didn't understand at first then she remembered. "Tell me you love me." was a code she and Cordell had come up with to tell the other where they were. If the other replied then they knew the spot. And if they said " I don't love you." Then the cops came.
"Kris.. tell me you love me…"
"I love you… I love you.."
"There's my girl."
Krisa was about to reply when she heard Matthew come back on the line.
"Clock is ticking babe." Then the line went dead.
Krisa slammed her phone on the dash and kept driving. She knew Matt was keeping Cordell now. She just prayed she got there in time. It didn't take long for KRisa to find the old abandoned farm house that sat off the highway. When she saw the black car aout front she knew it belonged to Matthew she pulled in. Getting her gun off of the consoul of the car. Kristina slipped it into her pocket the way her dad had taught her.
"Matt!" she called as she made her way to the old barn.
"Well well that was fast. The old man is all packed and ready to go?" Matthew asked with a smile.
"Daddy is packing umm I came to see Cordell."
"His inside is still alive if that's the reason you came all the way out here."
"Can I see him?"
"Well since you did as I asked I suppose you can come on."
Matthew led Krisa into the barn. Cordell sat in the chair with his legs and feet tied to the arms of the chair with rope. He didn't look too bad. Black eyes were starting to form but krisa guessed that was the only shot Matthew had gotten in edge wise because he looked worse for wear. Cordell gave Krisa hsi trademark half smile when he saw her.
"Hey pretty girl."
"Hey yourself Cowboy."
There was the code again. "Pretty girl" was Cordell's way of asking if she was okay and to make sure she wasn't hurt.
"Pretty girl? You flirting with my soon to wife there Ranger?" Matthew asked.
"She's always been my pretty girl Right Kris."
"Well until Emily." Krisa replied with a wink hoping Cordell got her meaning.
"Ah yes she was the reason you left Austin wasn't it babe? Because Cordell chose another "pretty girl" over you?"
"Don't you talk about Emily like that." Krisa screamed.
"Tell me something, Ranger Walker was Krisa not all that pretty in highschool for you to pick someone else over her?"
Cordell looked at Matthew and then back at Krisa. He could see the look of fear in Krisa's eyes.
"Krisa was alway my girl"
"You seriously want to me to believe that Krisa was always yours?" Matthew asked.
"She is mine." Cordell snapped
"Please Ranger you know as well as I do if that were true she never would have ran to Houston."
"Matthew please." Krisa pleaded
"Please what Krisa? Please don't kill him." Matthew laughed darkly as he watched the two.
"Cordell I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For leaving this mess. If I had never come home . None of this would have happened." Krisa cried.
Cordell tried to smile softly at her. Only thing Krisa could do was walk over to Cordell and wrapped her arms around him. Matthew watched the two. He saw how Krisa looked at Cordell. And how Cordell looked at Krisa. He didn't like that idea one bit.
"Alright enough." Matthew shouted
"I'm sick of this and it's only been like teen minutes. Krisa is your dad on his way to Houston or what?"
"He said he was leaving after I called him."
Pulling the hammer back on his gun Matthew aimed it at Cordell.
"You better call and find out before the Ranger meets his end."
"Okay just please don't hurt him I'll call my dad."
Taking out her cell phone Krisa dialed a number she just hoped he picked up.
"Captain James."
"Dad hey, are you on your way to Houston?"
"Krisa what's wrong?"
"Great no I'm okay. Matthew was just wondering ."
"Is Cordell okay?"
"Yeah Cowboy is great"
"Well be there soon."
"yeah see yea daddy."
Krisa hung up the phone and turned to Matthew.
"See him on his way now, please put the gun down."
"I don't think so." Matthew stuck the gun to Cordells temple.
"Please don't."
"Krisa hey look at me okay just look at me."
"Cordell.. I'm sorry…"
"Don't this isn't your fault. None of this is your fault."
"If i hadn't come home he never would have."
"Listen to me.." Cordell started looking Krisa dead in the eyes. " I'm so glad you came home to me."
Before Krisa could get a word out Matthew pulled the trigger.
"NO! Cordell!" Krisa sat up in bed, sweat pouring down her face. The nightmare shook her to the core. She knew danger was coming now. The only problem was did she tell Cordell the truth about Matthew or did she try like hell to get her dad out of Austin and tot Houston. Before anything happens to Cordell or her dad.
Krisa picked up her cell Krisa dialed Cordells number. He picked up on the second ring.
"Kris?"
"Hey Cowboy."
"Kris it's two am you okay?"
"yeah just a bad dream."
"You wanna talk about it?"
"No I'm okay, just old habits die hard I guess."
"I'm here Kris always."
"Thanks Cowboy. Sorry I woke you."
"You didn't, I'm on a stake but so I've time to talk."
"No I'll let you get back to work Go get em Cowboy."
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine night Cordi."
"Night Krissy."
When Cordell hung up something in his gut told him. Kris was lying to him. The question was. What was she dieing nd how could he find out just what she was hiding.
