Chapter 9
Beta: Darklord331/Old Man of the Mountain
– Harry –
Exams were a month away and yet Hermione tried to set a study schedule for me, thankfully I talked her out of it and just started to go to the library with her. And if I thought that was pushing it, it seemed that my house was even further.
I didn't think that my house was worrying about it much but then almost everyone in Ravenclaw seemed like college students for finals, and honestly the only thing missing was energy drinks but… that was an idea. Sell energy drinks, but why stop there? As far as I knew no one was selling muggle items in Hogwarts and if they were they had to have been stopped by storage issues unless they were me.
[Creating The Retailing Business]
Objective:
-Create a business selling muggle items in Hogwarts
Rewards:
(Accept/Decline)
…I just had to think about it, didn't I?
Regardless I continued to spend my time studying and practicing magic, and I made do with the RoR and made plans to enter the restricted section next year.
– Minerva McGonagall –
No matter what she did couldn't shake the apprehension about what they were about to do. It was a simple matter, with Severus' suspicions on Quirrel and his unprompted arrival on the 3rd floor was enough for Albus to have investigated but as he explained, there were enough suspicions from Albus himself.
And so, the headmaster ordered every head of house to gather in their common rooms and be protected by the other teachers as she, Filius, Severus and Albus confronted Quirrel.
She wondered if Albus was overdoing it, that doubt was quickly cast aside when they confronted Quirrel.
Albus blasted open the door, catching Quirrell in the final room staring at the Mirror of Erised. And as he turned around, his turban on the floor, the face of Voldemort stared at them in the reflection of the Mirror of Erised.
Albus quickly recovered and immediately shot a spellchain at Quirrel, as she and the rest of the teachers quickly started to cast to support him.
Quirrel quickly began casting at fast speeds, which left her with no doubt that Voldemort was in control of the body.
Albus quickly destroyed the walls, causing stone to fly off which he then used to transform into different blades that quickly rushed towards Voldemort. She followed her mentor and started transforming the debris into animals that started to overwhelm Voldemort.
Despite their overwhelming odds, it was enough for Voldemort to somewhat fight back.
Voldemort sent a continuous jet of water at Albus. In response Albus waved his wand and enveloped the teachers in a bubble that reminded her of the bubble-head charm. As Albus stopped the water, Filius and Severus quickly defended against the string of curses from Voldemort, as she started using the water to transform into Ice warriors that formed a shield between them and Voldemort, giving them some breathing room.
"Severus, Fillius distract him, Minerva use the water to contain him." Albus said, as he still held the shield against the water, the teachers nodded to show they understood. "Now!"
Simultaneously, spell chains quickly headed for Voldemort as she used the water to quickly turn it around and rush at Voldemort himself. Albus himself started to cast a spell that would have contained him. But either Voldemort couldn't have lasted against the assault longer or he recognised the spell, he quickly casted the smokescreen spell.
And when they cleared the smoke all that remained was a husk of body that was Quirrell's who was suffering from magical exhaustion.
Her eyes met Albus' own, and the meaning was clear.
He was back.
– Albus Dumbledore –
"Please come in, Mr Potter."
Harry Potter opened the door, and stepped inside his office. For a brief moment, the boy looked around the room and he didn't bother to hide the smile when he saw the boy's eyes twinkle with wonder, trying to analyze the room. It was always such a delight when newcomers went to his office, and saw it be decorated with bizarre items and paintings of his predecessors as their eyes always went astray.
"You wanted to see me headmaster?" Harry asked, as he finally finished looking around the room and sat on one of the chairs in front of his desk.
"Yes, I did. Please help yourself." Albus said, gesturing to the plate of candy that he always kept on my table.
Harry hesitated for a second before grabbing some candy.
"It has been brought to my attention that you have a rather difficult home life." Albus said, going straight to the point.
"... who told you?" Harry asked, his voice smaller. His posture indicated that he was afraid and a little jumpy.
"Minerva, you can imagine my surprise when I heard about it, and her reaction, let's just say that some of my decorations have been installed this school year."
Despite the harrowing topic, Harry smiled a bit.
"So what now?" Harry said his posture was a bit more laxed.
"I am assuming that you would have returned to them after your time here?" Albus asked as he relaxed on his chair, feeling the responsibility of a headmaster.
"I would have," Harry said. "But I'm guessing I'm not?"
"You won't." and just like that, Albus saw a change in Harry, where there was some tension left. It was all released the second he said those two words.
Albus wondered if he had done this for Tom, would he have reacted the same?
Now was not the time to dwell on what ifs, now was the time for action.
"Well, I was wondering if you would want to stay with a wizarding family for this summer?"
Harry looked as if the world had been turned upside down. And a brief moment where his face showed many emotions and eventually ended up staring at the floor.
"I-I don't know what to say, headmaster." Harry said, continuing to stare at the floor. "I thought me being the boy-who-lived would have people lining up to influence me?"
"I can help you decide, as after all, I am not just the Headmaster but also part of the Wizengamot (Wizarding Britain's high court of law and parliament) and the ICW (Wizarding intergovernmental organization aka Wizard UN)." He said, grinning a bit. "If I cannot maintain an opinion without bias, I would be in any of these positions."
Harry returned the grin with one of his own.
"You don't have to give me an answer right now," Albus said softly. "I do not want to force you into making this choice. Whatever choice you make, it's entirely up to you."
"Do you have anyone in mind? It seems that you've already thought about this."
– Harry –
The months since his encounter with the Headmaster had passed were boring, my own studies continued and with my Sorcerer's Ambition perk, I breezed through the curriculum and I was confident that I could finish OWL levels by next year, and not to mention the help the RoR gives.
As such it came to no surprise that I was the best in class in all subjects, especially the subjects that didn't use wands as they primarily taught theory. And so, as the people talk and more than a fair share of my own classmates have asked for help.
Exams came and I was confident that I had O's all around.
I also helped in winning the Quidditch Cup and with my constant volunteering in my classes we were a shoe in for the House Cup too. And while I didn't care much for the awards, the knowledge that a good percentage of the reason we won was because of me, was enough reasons to want it.
Name – Harry James Potter
Level – 53 [Exp – 25%]
HP – 100%
SP – 100%
MP – 100%
It was amazing, improving yourself and seeing how much you improve was always the best part of training for me, at least with the Gamer system.
[Spellcasting Proficiency] (Master)
Casting spells faster and with better accuracy.
I have no idea how powerful I am, but I reckon I could at least, take down a Post-OWL graduate.
– Hestia Jones –
"Come on! We've been waiting all week for this!" Tonks cheered, as she entered the club pulling Hestia along with her.
The young woman with bright pink hair quickly dragged her inside and pulled her to the side so that they didn't block the entrance to the club.
"Alright, Tonks, we're here. You can let go now," Hestia said, not exactly minding the grip.
"Right, what do you wanna do first?" Tonks asked, letting go of her hand and yelling over the music.
Hestia sighed, already not liking the experience.
"Let's just go to the bar," She said, pointing in the direction.
"Oh! Great idea!" Tonks said as she pulled Hestia along. "Let's make a toast!"
It had been a while since the two of them had the chance to come out together and Tonks was pretty easily excited at the best of times, as they had both received the news that they were accepted into the Auror program.
She would admit that this wasn't exactly the type of place that she enjoyed, but after a series of tests they could finally start beginning their actual Auror training. But as of now…
Tonks easily maneuvered through the crowd, dragging her along with.
As they neared the bar, she quickly took a bar seat, and Hestia let her eyes wander as they moved throughout the club to go to the bar. It was pretty crowded and there were already a fair amount of people on the dance floor dancing.
Tonks quickly caught the attention of the waiter and ordered for her.
"What'd you order?" She asked, eyebrows narrowed.
"Hey!" Tonks complained. "I take affront to that."
Hestia knew what Tonks's taste in drinks usually was and she did not at all trust her, as she casually once offered firewhiskey despite being inside Hogwarts and when they weren't even allowed to leave the castle.
She stared at the glass suspiciously for a moment longer before she took a small sip and was pleasantly surprised when she found that it was actually something sweet.
"See, I told you you'd like it," Tonks said, with a smug grin sipping her own drink..
"Yeah, whatever," She replied, turning around to hide her face.
"Ughh come one we're nearly there." Hestia said, slurring her words, as she carried Tonks' body to her own house. Carry was a kind word as she was practically dragging the bright pink haired girl by her side.
"Smrr…" Tonks said, trying to say 'sorry' but failing as she hid her face in Hestia's bosom.
Hestia shifted her arms more securely under Tonks' side as they needed her house.
She had to focus to make that they didn't accidentally fall over as they used the Knight Bus because apparating drunk would have been very very stupid of them.
So here they were walking through the suburbs, somewhat drunk.
"Sorry…let's just continue this at my place." She mumbled.
"Yeah, you don't suppose they'd allow us back in right?" Hestia said, laughing at the thought.
Tonks would have castrated the guy had she had her wand, thankfully she only kicked him in the dick, with boots.
So needless to say they probably wouldn't be allowed in.
"Probably not, but it was worth it." Tonks said slurring as they arrived at the Tonks house.
– Harry –
I held back a sigh as I heard someone opening the door, and drunk ramblings echoed in the house as two people stumbled into the living room.
It was a few days after I settled into the house with one of the family Dumbledore selected. And honestly I chose them because of canon but still…
"Is that Harry Potter?" Tonks' friend drunkenly said as she pointed at me, as both of them were lying down on the middle room floor.
"He is." Tonks answered as she kept staring at the ceiling.
Drunk asses, and on this day too.
"Damn it Tonks, come on let's get you to bed." I said as I tried to pick her up.
"But why?!" Tonks whined as she hugged Hestia close trying to avoid my hands.
"Can you just, not?" I asked as I tried to grab her hand but ended up grabbing something else.
"Oh Harry," Tonks said blushing, looking at me with wide eyes. "Didn't think you saw me that way."
I couldn't help but blush as my hand was groping her chest, I quickly drew it back.
"You're a bit of a perv aren't you?" Hestia said sitting up on the floor as she stared at me, I felt my face start to become hotter.
They must have confused my face because Tonks got closer and said. "Oh don't be shy Harry, lots of people would stare too!" Tonks said, hugging me close as she combed her hand through my hair. "Hesita help me out here!"
Oh no.
"Don't worry Harry," Hesia said drunkenly, coming to my side and patting my back. "Every witch would be happy to have you, and this is a normal reaction."
This would be amazing if they weren't plastered as hell and booze practically radiating off them. Between this and Andromeda's lessons in etiquette, I'd rather be with Andromeda.
After a few more minutes of cuddling, awkward blushes and cursing both my past teenage self's inexperience and my pre-puberty body. Eventually both of them passed out thankfully and I finally executed my plan, something I have done many many times.
Sneaking out, but this time with magic.
Aware of the limitations I had, while staying at the Tonks household, I spent the last few weeks of school brewing potions for this, not to mention my stock of potions I made in my spare time earlier in the school year, most of them were just in case I got hurt and couldn't use my magic.
After making sure both Tonks and Hestia were safe, I put on a dark outfit, making sure that I didn't have any identifying marks, headed out. It was around midnight and the streets weren't as empty as I'd like them to be. After a few minutes of walking I realized I needed a better way of traveling.
I went to a grocery store and restocked my stuff, or just got more of it, since it seemed as if time doesn't move in my inventory and I wanted the items for some stocks for the retail business. I'll sort through them later and make notes on what places to go to next, but for now I just want to get moving as the night is still young.
While making my way to another store I was struck with a thought.
I can do this shit because there aren't any security cameras, and I know that they were only implemented in the late 90s, so I have until Voldemort dies in canon until everything gets harder to hide.
Wiping memories doesn't do anything if it's recorded and seen by millions in my time. I always wondered about that here, with the growing tech in the next two decades, which the ministry clearly doesn't understand. It would only be a matter of time before the Statute of Secrecy is abandoned.
So I need to prepare for that huh?
Not gonna lie, the idea of being what is essentially King to the people who will be saved is, tempting, very tempting.
Should be, you are a Gamer after all
I haven't heard from you in a while, and what about me?
It's what every Gamer does, you may be surrounded by people but never forget that they could be copied, and remade
You can't
That's the difference
As the Game continued to talk, I looked around and tried to not be suspicious. The difference huh?
Let me put it this way, after a few months a Gamer could have a few countries under their belt
So I'm weak? The thought itself gave me a frown as I opened the backdoor of the store using my telekinesis.
Not weak per se, but you are definitely taking your sweet time
So should I rush?
The thought made my eyes wander to the variety of stores around me.
Not really, take your time, but keep getting stronger
Okay and resources will help with that?
Are you listening to yourself?
Kinda stupid question, sorry. Of course it would be important.
At the higher levels of your power. If you so wished, time would progress only because you allow it
Or have every mortal on this earth would prostrate themselves to you and elevate you as their new god
The entire weave of reality would be yours to command
Right, the thought alone was enough to get some shivers. But for now, HP canon first and then everything else.
Whatever floats your boat
Another store looted and I opened the other stores. So what now?
Whatever you want, just be entertaining, remember?
Okay then, entertaining… entertaining.
My eyes strayed to a poster about jewelry.
– Sybill Trelawney –
Sybill Trelawney had the gift, that was true.
The gift of Divination.
And while many would have scoffed and dismissed her claims, few have known that all of them were true in a way. She knew things, and sometimes she didn't. That's just how it worked. Fate loved working like that.
She also knew another with the gift, much stronger would arrive, next school year.
As such she decided to gaze upon the future as she always did before bed.
She sat on her bed as she pulled her tarot cards over to the ball and looked into it. She blinked as she tried to focus her eyes and looked again.
Preparations, she realized with a cold sweat. She had to make preparations to ensure that he comes to power sooner, his current arrogance would be a hindrance in the long run. Already making plans.
She needed to be sexier, for the greater good of wizardkind she had to. He has to be the strongest he could be. She needs him to want to become stronger by himself.
And if giving him her body was what it took? It would be a small price to pay for the future.
AN: Sorry for being very very late, my laptop broke early May so I haven't been writing since and only got it fixed a few days ago.
Also I'm an idiot, since I tried to do the last bit with Trelawny with a prophecy and found out very quickly that I sucked at poetry, then I remembered about tarot cards and crystal balls.
