One week….one solid week. Liv has avoided his calls and avoided his texts. She hates it but she can't do it. She knows she can't do it. She knows she can't be that person and hold that title. It's the total hypocrisy of it all in her head. Right now, it's not about what she wants. It can't be. It's about what she can't have not until….it's right. She knows running from him is not going to make the situation any better, but if she can keep her distance she won't feel all those things she shouldn't feel. She won't tingle all over. She won't taste him and smell him. She won't feel him. It's a lie she's been telling himself all week. It hasn't lessened the need. It's only making it worse and she doesn't know what to do.

Liv is packing her bags when Nancy knocks on the door. Liv walks over taking a deep breath before she answers. "Come in Nancy."

Nancy comes in. She notices the suitcase that's open and half full, "Good morning," she says confusingly.

"Good morning," Liv answers.

"What's going on?" She asks.

"I am packing a suitcase," Liv says as if to be annoyed when the obvious is there.

Nancy decides to go for it, knowing it's none of her business. "Are you going somewhere?"

"Yes, I am going to stay with my parents for a few days," she answers.

"Right now," Nancy responds.

"Right now," Liv answers.

"Should you be going right now?" Nancy asks.

"I want to spend a few days with my family and now is a good time to go."

"Your husband was in a major accident. How could this be a good time to go?"

"My husband is being well taken care of. I am doing my part," Liv says as she keeps packing.

"Your part is to be here with him."

"We haven't lived a married life for a year Nancy. I want him to get better and I only agreed to this for that. I didn't do it for you. I did it so I wouldn't have to fight with you. I did it so I wouldn't have to have you making me feel guilty but you are going to do that anyway."

"I am looking out for my son who loves you and you won't give him a chance."

Liv takes a deep breath, "Did you give Jake's dad a chance?"

Nancy is taken aback, "What?"

"Your husband slept with your best friend. From what I understand, you put him out the day you found out and you never looked back but financially you are set for life." Liv says sarcastically.

"Jake shouldn't have told you that."

"Jake shouldn't have told you I had the abortion, especially since our marriage is basically over."

"I am looking out for my son," she answers.

Liv zips up her suitcase, "As a woman who went through this, you should understand why I feel the way I do."

Nancy puts her hands on her hips, "When are you coming back?"

"Monday or Tuesday. I haven't decided yet."

"Have you talked to Jake?"

"Yes I have. He knows he's in good hands," Liv says. "I'm leaving after work. I'll call to check in when I get there. Liv stands in the door for Nancy to go out first. Nancy gets the message and walks out.

Liv knows in that moment, breaking away is all she can do. She has to clear her head.

Liv has now made it to the office. She's got a full schedule before she flies out. Fitz has called her three times already and she keeps declining the call. She's called Harrison to tell him she's coming home for a few days, much to his surprise.

"Come on Trix you aren't fooling me. You want to come down for just the weekend. What is going on?" Harrison asks.

"I just want to check on Momma and Daddy," she answers.

"Momma and Daddy are doing great and you know it. You were just here, so what's going on?"

Liv takes a deep breath, "I need to get out of my head, this town, and this house."

"I told you leave those Ballards out in the fucking street," Harrison answers.

"I am Ballard," Liv says.

"Hopefully not for long and only by name," Harrison answers.

"Sis, I know you were trying to do the right thing and believe me, it's admirable. But you know how his nosy ass momma is and he's a child, he'll let her fight his battles."

"I know all of that. I just….no one understands. I am not going back on my word. I am not doing that. I just need to leave this whole thing feeling good about how I left it. I have my reasons."

"You didn't cheat sis," Harrison reminds her.

"I know but I'm not without fault in this too. I am not completely innocent. I am not trying to even up the score but I want my conscience as clean as it can be."

"You always cared about others. I get it."

"I just need a break," she says as she looks at the phone messages April gave her. Some messages are from patients and the other half is from Fitz.

"What else are you running home from?"

"What do you mean?"

"You want to come to DC out of the clear blue. Who has your ass in knots?" He asks and then he stops, thinking about their last conversation. "Oh, is it that married man?"

"What married man?" Liv says.

"The married man you like and that you are running from."

"I am not running from a married man."

"Trixie, who went with you to get that tattoo in high school?"

"You did," she answers.

"Who helped you sneak down to the basement to throw up when you got sick off that joint you smoked?" He asks.

"I lost that bet and that's your fault," she laughs

"Who knows when you are lying?"

"Harrison," she sings.

"What's his name?"

"He doesn't have a name!" She stresses.

"If you say so!"

"And don't tell mom and dad I'm coming," she finishes.

"I won't and I'll let you meet Quinn."

"Good! I can dig into your love life," she laughs.

"Oh, so you admit you have a love life with the married guy."

"Ugh," Liv laughs.

"Listen, I gotta go. I've got cars piling up and and a dumb dude on the clock right now."

"Okay, see you tonight. I love you big head."

"Love you too Sis!" he hangs up.

Liv takes a deep breath. "April, can you come here a second?"

April comes in with a notepad in her hand.

"Can you work tomorrow? Just get my tapes ready and you can take Friday off."

"Thanks boss! I wanted to hit up Milwaukee this weekend and see my sister who just had the baby."

"Great!," she answers and then hesitates. "Listen, I don't know what you think of me. I am not sure what i think of myself."

"What do you mean?"

"This situation with Fitzgerald Grant. I know you must think….," she is trying to explain but April interrupts.

"Boss, I watched the Grants come in here every week for almost 6 months. I could tell he wanted out and that was before you. He tried and I respect that but...you know me, I believe in the stars."

"Yes I do," Liv laughs.

"They came here because they needed help. They got the best in town. But maybe they really came here so your two stars could finally cross," April explains.

"Doesn't make me feel any better but thank you."

"You did the right thing," April says.

"How?"

"When you dropped them as patients. You had to do it. It will be hard enough when Mrs. Grant realizes you've taken her spot. She is gonna go apeshit you know."

"That's why I have to keep my distance from him. I can't take her spot. Not right now."

"He's gonna keep calling you know."

"I know! I'll talk to him maybe after I get there."

"I'll try to hold him off," April laughs.

"Thanks! Can you call the car service?"

April gets up and goes toward the door, "Will do!"

Liv looks at her desk, remembering his arms around her, their lips pressed together and their tongues warming them. She can still feel it and him. What scares her the most was how she lost control with him. She didn't like that she didn't control it. She didn't stop him. She wanted it and him and she didn't care about the ramifications. She knows if they keep going down this road it won't be good for either of them. She decides not to wait but to call him. She figures if she takes the coward way out. She will call him now and not give him time to fight her and it. He will just accept what she has to say.

She dials the number, waiting for him to pick up. Fitz is sitting in his office in the middle of a meeting. He sees her and excuses himself, going into his office. "Hi," he says.

"Hi!"

"Olivia…."

"I know I've been avoiding you I just….." she is searching for her words.

"You've been avoiding me," he answers.

"Fitz, I don't know what to say."

"We don't have to say anything. We just have to feel. That's all."

"Fitz, I can just operate on my feelings. I have to be smart. Right now, I am not being smart."

"All I can think about is the feel of your lips on mine. I can't think of anything else."

"Fitz," she says sadly.

"You tell me you haven't been thinking about it and I'll believe you." She stays silent. She can't lie to him but she can't encourage this.

"Don't make me say that!"

"Then, don't be afraid."

"I am leaving to catch a plane in a few minutes. I'll call you soon," she answers. She just decided to rip off the band aid.

"Where are you going?"

"I am going away for a couple of days," she answers.

"Like where?"

"A place where I can think," she answers.

"You can't tell me where," he's desperate to know. He's surprised she's leaving her husband and mother in law behind.

"No I can't. Please don't call me or text me. I can't think the way I need to, if you do that."

"Avoiding me is not going to change my mind Olivia."

"I am not asking you to change your mind. I am asking you to let me work out mine."

He walks over to his window that has a gorgeous view of the Windy City, "I feel like if I let you do this. You are going to slip through my fingers and I can't let that happen."

"I'll talk to you when I get back," she says as she quickly hangs up on him.

April gets her attention, "Your car is here."

"Thanks April," she says. She brought her suitcase with her. She was ready to go and needed to go. The argument with Nancy confirmed that.

Fitz is now upset with the whole exchange. He can't say he didn't see it coming because he did. He is so in tune with her and she doesn't even know it. He tries to call her back but of course she doesn't answer. So, he decides to handle this from a different angle. He won't leave it dangling that way.

Jake is propped up in his bed when the nurse comes in to change his bag. His mom has been making his second favorite meal in the kitchen, spaghetti and meatballs. He's spoiled and he knows it. She comes in after the nurse leaves out to get some supplies.

"Are you almost ready to eat son?"

"Mom, you didn't have to go in the kitchen and cook like that."

"Well, what else was I going to do? Your wife left you high and dry."

"Mom, I can't blame Olivia. All you two do is fight. And, fighting with her is not going to get us anywhere."

"I am not fighting with her. I am just trying to save your marriage. You are laying on your ass just dealing with your pain."

"What else am I supposed to do?"

"Fight for your wife. You act like you don't care."

"Of course I care. Of course I want to fight for her. I kind of fucked all that up."

"Some other man is going to come in and steal her away. Do you want that?"

"She wouldn't do that," Jake says.

"Why wouldn't she? She's a beautiful woman. She's very accomplished and very smart. Men will be attracted to all the things that you fell in love with."

"Mom, what are you not telling me?" Jake asks.

"Nothing! I better go check the sauce."

"Mom, come on! If she were dating someone she wouldn't have let me recuperate here. What's going on?"

"I don't know what's going on. I just know she was talking to someone a few weeks ago, really late. I couldn't hear what they were saying but who would she be talking to at that time of night?"

Jake shakes his head, "It could have been anyone. Why were you eavesdropping?"

"I wasn't eavesdropping."

"But you were," Jake says. "And that was wrong mom. This is Olivia's house."

"This is you and Olivia's house. Your name is still on the deed is it not."

"I gave her the house when I moved out and I'm giving it to her in the divorce. We don't fight over this house."

"You are talking divorce instead of strategy. "

"I cheated on my wife. I don't really have a leg to stand on," Jake explains.

"And she lied to you," Nancy reminds him.

"I don't want her to hate me and that's what's going to happen."

"I am just telling you. I think it was stupid of you to be drinking the way you were but maybe this will give you a second chance with her. Don't blow it," she says as she gets up to go check the sauce as the nurse comes in.

"Mom," Jake says.

"Yes," she answers.

"You really think there could be someone else?"

"I think you need to find a way to get that wedding band back on her finger," she answers as she walks out of the door.

Fitz gets home, to Mellie and the kids in the kitchen. Fitz is so confused because Mellie is trying to cook. She doesn't do it often but when she tries, the kids get a kick out of it. He was hoping to go into his workroom and work on one of his pieces.

"Good evening," he says.

"Dad," Gerry says quickly, "I want to join the hockey team."

"Dad," Karen says, fighting for the attention, "Can we go to American Girl?"

"Hello Dad," Mellie says.

"Hello," He answers.

"I know. I thought I would try it," Mellie says as he sees the mess over the kitchen.

"It looks like grilled chicken, roasted potatoes and a salad," Fitz says.

"I think mom is gonna burn the chicken," Gerry says with a laugh.

"Thanks a lot Gerry. You have so much faith in your mother."

"Mom, I want french fries," Karen says.

"We are having mashed potatoes," Mellie answers her.

"Gerry, I think that's a great idea," Fitz says about the hockey team.

"I told him it's such a rough sport but he wants to do it," Mellie says.

"Well, he's a boy. He's supposed to play rough sports," Fitz says as he gives Gerry a high five.

"They lose all their teeth don't they?" Mellie says with a face of concern.

Fitz begins to laugh, "Mellie, they can replace their teeth."

"Mom that's the best part," Gerry laughs.

Fitz takes great delight in his son's sense of humor which is much like his, "We will talk about it," he says to Gerry.

Karen starts to get upset, "What about my doll?"

"Daddy will take you," Fitz says. "Although, you have like 5 of them."

"I need this one," Karen says which makes him laugh.

"We will go," Fitz caves in.

"She actually has 6," Mellie adds in.

"ETA on dinner," Fitz asks.

"About a half an hour," Mellie answers.

"Okay, I'm gonna take a quick shower," Fitz says.

"After dinner, can we talk?" Mellie says.

He's avoided it as long as he could. "Sure," Fitz answers.

They nod at each other as Fitz goes to take his shower.

They have their dinner. Mellie manages to make the meal without burning it. It was edible and they were able to have a 'normal' dinner as a family. Gerry goes to his room. Karen goes to her room. Fitz offers to clean the kitchen. He wants to put off the conversation for now. He wants to know what's inside Liv's head. She's running and he's afraid it's the end of them before they even started. He knows he wants a divorce. He knows there's no way Mellie won't be hurt but it doesn't matter. People will be hurt, especially his children.

Mellie comes into the workroom. Fitz has on his glasses and he's studying a piece. She edges toward him slowly, "Something new..," she says

"Yeah, it's an injector for an electric motorcycle," he says looking at the pieces before him.

"Hmm, an electric motorcycle. People would buy those up."

"That's the idea," Fitz says as he walks over to wash his hands. He takes off his glasses and turns to Mellie. "Dinner was nice tonight."

"Thanks, grilling chicken was not as labor intensive as I thought."

"No! You had some great grill marks there," Fitz compliments. It's an awkward conversation but they are both going with what helps them.

"Our session with Liz North was intense the other day."

Fitz is leaning on his zinc with his arms folded across his chest. "Yeah it was."

"It's not easy for me Fitz to realize things about myself," Mellie says.

"Self reflection is never a pleasant experience. Even if you are the purist person in the world there's one demon in there."

Mellie faintly smiles, "I guess so but I'm not sure of what I'm supposed to do with it."

"Be honest with it, I guess. We are both 38 year old very accomplished people who I think are reaching a new phase in our lives as individuals," Fitz explains.

"You sound just like Olivia there. Very profound," she says.

Fitz tries to hide the smile at the mention of Olivia's name. "She had a way of simplifying things," he finishes.

"Yes, and it's not that I don't like Liz North but I was more comfortable with Olivia. She understands our situation better."

"We only saw her once," Fitz says.

"Yes but she's not good at getting past the layers like Olivia did."

Fitz knows he needs to defend Liz's methods. Truth is, he misses that weekly date with Olivia that he always looked forward to but Liv was right. She had to give them up as patients. "Well, what do you want to do?"

"It was our first session and she asked if either of us at least approached the subject of divorce."

"It's a viable question. I suppose every couple that's struggling contemplates those questions."

"I have never given up on anything in my life. I am not built that way," Mellie says.

"Couples that get divorced aren't losers. They just see that they are better apart," Fitz explains.

"Well, I don't believe that. You and I make a great team. We just need to get back to that," Mellie says.

"Do we make a great team or a great couple?" Fitz says.

"It's one in the same," Mellie answers.

"Teamwork can't replace love," Fitz answers.

"Of course not, but the family we've built that took work. We make a great team."

"With the kids, yes."

"I am going to talk to her," Mellie shorts him.

"Who?"

"I'm going to call Olivia's office and see if she can squeeze us back in. She was helping us make progress."

"What?" Fitz says.

"I had time to think at my parents house and this is what I want," Mellie says, going toward him.

"We have to both want it," Fitz says.''

Mellie gets closer to him, "How are you doing?" she asks as he grabs his bulge through his pants.

"Mellie," he says softly.

"I think we need to reconnect. We need to work harder at it," she says as she pulls on the elastic of his stretch pants.

He doesn't want this. Sex with his wife is the last thing he wants. His heart is not in it and his head is certainly elsewhere. "Mellie, the kids aren't asleep yet."

"They know not to come into your work room," Mellie says as he gets on her knees.

"Mellie, you can't keep doing this," Fitz says.

"Doing what? Making my husband feel good," she says as she reaches into his pants wrapping her hands tightly around him.

He pulls her up gently, "I don't want you to do that," he says gently.

"I thought you liked it," Mellie says.

"I don't know a man who doesn't but we can't use sex to cover up what's wrong with our marriage. We need to figure it out."

She's embarrassed by the rejection, "Fine," she says as she turns around and leaves.

Fitz throws up his hands, "Damn," he says. It's the reason he didn't want to have that talk. He knows she's not in the headspace to hear him say the words. But he knows he has to say it. He walks back over to this desk and his cell phone rings. He answers, "What's up?"

The conversation goes on, Fitz answers, "Thanks. Thanks for handling that for me," he says as he hangs up. He sits in his seat contemplating, everything is getting to be more complicated by the minute.

Harrison is sitting at the table with his parents. He decided to surprise them with a visit, so he could be there when Liv walks in the door.

"What happened, you decided to visit your old parents tonight?" Eli asks.

"I know we haven't had dinner in a while. I am trying to be a good son," Harrison answers.

"Did you and Quinn break up?" Eli continues.

"No, Pops, we didn't break up," Harrison says.

"I don't care why my son came to visit. I am just glad you did. I miss having you and Olivia here. I was so happy when she went to Georgetown and didn't stay on campus. I know you only finished school because you didn't want us drag you every day for the rest of your life," Maya says

"Mama, I'm doing alright. Don't you think?"

"You are doing fine honey but I agree with your dad. What are you doing here?"

"Damn, a man can't even see his parents without an ulterior motive!"

Maya smacks his head, while getting up from the table. "Watch your language!"

"Yes! Watch your language," Liv says appearing in the doorway.

Eli and Maya are speechless. "What are you doing here?" Maya says as Liv gives her a hug.

Liv reaches down and kisses Eli, "Hey Daddy," she says.

"Both my children at home at the same time twice in the same month," Eli looks up to the sky. "Am I about to die Lord?" He says jokingly.

"Eli," Maya says.

"Daddy," Liv says with a laugh.

"You knew your sister was coming. That's why you were here," Maya says. She's more than happy to see her daughter.

"She told me to keep a secret," Harrison says.

"You two were always good at keeping each other's secrets," Eli says studying his daughter. He knows this trip home is for a reason. "You okay baby," Eli says.

Liv looks in the pots on the stove and is immediately happy, "I am fine daddy. I'll be even better when I get a plate of this smothered chicken and collard greens," Liv finishes.

"You need to put a little meat on those bones anyway. Sit down and let me fix you a plate," Maya says, basically placing Liv in her seat.

"Mama I eat enough. I eat healthy."

"Sometimes you need some grease," Harrison jokes.

"I'll get my share while I'm here, even though I shouldn't," she says as she pushes Eli's plate away from him. Maya smiles, Liv has always been protective of her daddy. It's so great to see her family all at the table.

"Hey, don't do that to your elders," Eli says pushing his saucer back in front of him.

"Are you staying tonight Harry?" Maya asks.

"Yes, I might as well have breakfast too. I would like to request steak and eggs please…," Harrison says.

"And hash browns too Mama," Liv finishes.

"Anything for my babies," Maya says. She looks over at Liv and then at Eli. She knows that something is beneath the surface and she's gonna have to pry it out of her.

It's the next morning Fitz has taken his morning run and lifted a few weights. He's been doing that a lot more lately. The stress of trying to end his marriage and actually tell his wife and trying to hold on to the woman he can't attain. It's like a movie that keeps having unwanted sequels. He's going to take a shower before getting ready but he feels like he has to talk to Mellie.

He knocks on each of the kids bedroom doors, "Kids, you've got 30 minutes," he says. He gets to Mellie's door, "Mellie can I come in a second."

She doesn't answer. She opens the door, "Come in," she says as she walks away. "Can I help you with something Fitz? Don't answer that, I tried to do that last night and you didn't want my help."

"Mellie, I'm sorry about last night but you have to understand."

"Understand what? I tried to blow my husband and he looked like he couldn't be more uninterested."

"Every time we try to talk about our marriage or try to get to those hard conversations you want to have sex. I don't want my wife or any woman to get on their knees for me, to keep me."

"Oh! So another woman is on her knees for you."

"Don't twist my words Mellie. If our marriage only works when we have sex then we have a problem. Don't you see that?"

"My husband rejected me last night. That's what I saw," she answers.

"You and I have to make some hard decisions. We can't keep putting that off."

"We need to go back to Olivia before we do something we might regret. I'm going to call her office to see if she can take us."

"Mellie," he's shaking his head. She is not listening. He is about to speak.

"Dad, we are going to be late," Gerry knocks.

"I'm coming bud," Fitz says. He realizes he's getting nowhere with Mellie right now. "I am going to pick Karen up. I'm going to take her to get her doll. Celeste doesn't have to pick her up."

"Fine," Mellie answers short.

"Mellie, I know you don't want to believe it. I'm trying to do what's best for our family. I really am."

"So am I," Mellie responds as Fitz leaves.

Liv and Maya have gone on a girl's shopping day trip. She's going to have dinner with Harrison and his girlfriend Quinn tonight. She's missed those walks with her mom. She's missed those shopping sprees and coming home and hearing her dad fuss about it. She needs her mom so much right now but she doesn't know where to start with this.

They are walking arm and arm. "I have my baby girl until Monday. I can't believe it."

"Mom, you act like I don't visit enough," Liv says.

"You don't," Maya laughs.

"Mommy, I was here for 4 months when you were recovering."

"I know and I'll never forget that. You dropped everything for me. Some parents go through life wondering if their kids care even a fraction for them but I know you and Harry love us," Maya says with a consoling smile.

"Yes we do. You two have always sacrificed for us. We do love you," Liv says.

"I'm very proud of you both. I love you very much which is why I am going to be the nagging mother and ask what's going on. I am sure that nosy ass Nancy is a lot to handle and who knows what Jake is doing. I know you were trying to be admirable but if you had to run home because of them. Put them out,' Maya says.

"Why do you think I am running from them?"

"Because your husband, and I use that term loosely, is recovering in your home and you are here. His mother is staying with you right now and you are here. I know you Livvie. What's up?"

Liv looks up to see a nearby Starbucks up ahead. "Coffee on me," she says as they go in and find a table outside to talk.

They have taken a seat and sit their bags down. "Start talking," Maya says.

Liv takes a deep breath, "When I came here for those 4 months I was running then," Liv says.

"Running from what?" Maya asks.

"I had an abortion months before and I didn't tell my husband I did it.," Liv's eyes are filled with tears. "I didn't tell him because I didn't want kids with him. It just didn't feel right and I was trying to get my business started. I just…."

"You married Jake because you thought it was right and you were trying to move on with your life. It looked like a good idea at the time. It felt like a good one.."

"Yes, and I know I shut off a piece of myself to him and I suppose that's why I cheated. I'm not giving him an excuse, I'm just seeing things clearly," Liv answers.

"And what now?" Maya says.

"I just know I want to move on with my life. I put him out because I wanted to think and maybe even forgive him. But it's not what I want. He's not what I want," Liv says. This is the first time she's said this to me anyway.

"Is there someone else?" Maya asks.

Liv shakes her head as if it's a crazy question, "What do you mean?"

"Livvie, you've been separated from your husband for a year. It's not crazy to think you may have met someone. Maybe he is the reason you see things so clearly now," she answers, studying her daughter's reactions. Liv always had a nervous reaction, even as a child, when she was trying to hide something. She'd scratch her nose. And right now she's scratching her nose and her arms.

Liv drops her head in embarrassment, "He's a man I want and right now, I can't have."

"Why?" Maya asks.

"He's married. He's married. I was his therapist and he's married."

"Olivia," Maya says.

"Mom, I know. You don't have to give me the speech. I know all the reasons it's wrong. I know all the reasons this is bad but I can't explain it."

"I can't judge you. I cheated on a man with your father but he wasn't married. Why him? Why this man?"

Liv studies her hands which she is wringing together, "I've asked myself that question a million times and I know the answers. It's just not the one that sounds acceptable."

"And the answer is?" Maya says.

"He's the opposite of Jake. He feels right," Liv takes a deep breath after saying it.

Maya can see that Liv just lifted a huge burden off her shoulders. "What are you going to do?"

Liv looks away. She hasn't figured that part out. She wants to see him. She wants to be with him, but she wants her conscious clear to do that. But it doesn't change the need she has for him and knowing the right thing is to stay away is what makes this so difficult.

Fitz and Karen are having ice cream after they bought her doll in the mall. Karen got exactly the doll she wanted. She loves having Fitz all to herself.

"Do you like your doll?" Fitz asks.

"I love it daddy," she answers.

"You can't tell your mother that you had ice cream before dinner okay," he says as he wipes the ice cream off her chin.

"She'll be mad," Karen answers.

"Yeah, just a little," Fitz smiles.

Karen keeps eating her ice cream. She looks up at Fitz, "Daddy, are you and mommy okay?"

"Yeah, we are fine! Why?"

"You and mommy look mad at each other all the time."

"We aren't mad at each other. I promise, okay."

"Are you mad at me and Gerry?" Karen asks.

"No honey! We could never be mad at you and Gerry. We get mad when you don't do what you are told sometimes but that's it. Mommy and I are just dealing with something," Fitz answers as he moves her that's fallen in front of her face.

"Will we be like Molly's mommy and daddy?"

Fitz takes a deep breath. If Karen can tell then he knows that Gerry can. "Honey," Fitz uses his words carefully. "No matter what happens with me and your mom, we love you. And we are going to be here for you? And we will still be mommy and daddy."

She keeps eating her ice cream, "Okay," is her answer and Fitz accepts it.

He finishes eating his ice cream, thinking that only Mellie can accept that so easily. It's so much easier dealing with children than adults. His phone rings. "Hey," he says. "Thanks! Text me the information."

It's the next evening. Harrison had to reschedule their dinner because Quinn had to do rounds. Liv is pleasantly surprised by the lady in front of her. Harrison is notorious for picking wrong when it comes to women but not this time. She's proud of her brother. He did well for himself for once. She's a cute and curvy brunette girl. She's studying to be an Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She is bubbly and likes to laugh but she has those adoring eyes when she looks at her brother and she likes what she sees.

"Harrison really, that was your pick up line. That is the worst," Liv laughs. They are far into the conversation.

"Yes, that was his pickup line, Quinn answers. And he was so confident," She imitates Harrison's voice. If you and I were socks we'd make a great pair.

"It worked, didn't it?" Harrison defends.

"It was cheesiest fucking thing I had ever heard but for some reason, coming from him it worked," Quinn admits.

"It's so cheesy. If dad knew your game was that lame," Liv jokes.

"The important thing is, I got the girl. That's what's important."

"I guess," Liv laughs. "Quinn, my brother has dated nice, too nice, bitchy, and even bitchier. You are the first person that I think is perfect for him. You know how to keep him in line."

"I'm not a puppy. I don't need training," Harrison says.

"That's subjective," Liv answers.

"I mean sometimes I have to say put the seat down. Close the fridge. Or, please pour some milk in a glass?" Quinn says.

"Let me get the waiter, this dinner is over," Harrison says waving for the check.

"Wait, are you two living together?" Liv says quickly.

"Not exactly living together," Quinn says.

"What is not exactly?" Liv says.

"Damn, why are you so nosy sis?"

"I am not nosy. I'm just observant."

"Well, we are thinking of moving in together," Harrison answers.

"It seems like the only thing that makes sense. I'm either there at his place or he's at mine," Quinn says.

"That's awesome Harry!" Liv says.

"Don't call me Harry!"

"Finally, your nickname," Quinn laughs.

"No, seriously! I'm happy for you," Liv says. "I just want the invitation first."

"To what?" Harrison says as Quinn blushes.

"To the wedding," Liv answers.

"That's it! Dinner is over," Harrison laughs as they finish dinner.

Liv makes it back to her parents. She doesn't notice anything strange. She gets out of the Uber and goes into her parents house to see Curtis Pryce sitting on her parents porch. She hasn't seen him in so long. What is he doing there?

"Olivia Pope, in the flesh," he says.

"What in the world are you doing here Curtis?"

"Got my car done today You know me and my cars. Your brother told me you were in town. I asked about you."

She smiles, "So you had to come see for yourself," she laughs.

"Yeah, I had to. I had to see my Mamacita," he says. That was his nickname for her.

"You do remember I am a married woman right and you and I were a long time ago."

"We dated all through high school. I mean I know I was exactly your parents choice for their Georgetown girl."

"No you weren't. I am going to assume that's why you are sitting on the porch and not inside," Liv says.

"Yeah, your mom gave me a soda and said if I wanted to wait, fine."

"She doesn't forgive and forget you know."

"No she doesn't," he laughs. "I was selling drugs. In with the wrong crowd. It wasn't good, I know. But I never involved you and I always looked out for you."

"Yeah, you did. It wasn't my best judgement," she laughs.

"I heard you looked good. You look damn good."

"Still riding motorcycles I see," she says looking over at the totally decked out motorcycle in the drive.

"I manage one of my dad's car dealerships now. I finally got my act together."

"You never needed to deal drugs. Why were you doing it?" Liv says.

"You know me. I was all about being the tough guy and doing what I shouldn't until my ass almost got killed."

"I'm glad you didn't," Liv says.

"Where is that husband of yours?

"Nosy," she shakes her head.

"Come on, when you were mine I never let you out of my sight. I would be following you around like a puppy looking for water," Curtis says.

Liv burst out into laughter, "Cheesy."

"There's that smile," Curtis says. A car drives up as they are talking. Liv is not paying attention at first. Curtis continues, "How about we go for a ride and get some drinks?"

"Enough room for a plus 3," Fitz's voice says.

Liv turns her head so quickly that she stumbles. "Fitz," she says.

"Hi," he says.

"Hi," she answers. She shakes her head. "What in the world are you doing here?" She's breathing heavy at just the sight of him.

Curtis is taking this in! More confused than ever. He knew she married some guy named Jake but Fitz wasn't it. Fitz looks over at Curtis, taking in the picture in front of him.

Liv clears her throat realizing there should be some introductions. "Ummm, Fitz this is Curtis. Curtis this is Fitz."

Fitz reaches out his hand, "Nice to meet you." He didn't mean a word of it, but he thought he'd try not to act like the jealous boyfriend. After all, he wasn't officially her boyfriend, not yet.

"You too I guess," Curtis says.

Liv is soft in her words, "What are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you," Fitz says.

Liv looks over at Curtis, "I'm sorry. I…," She doesn't exactly know what to say. "I really need to talk to him. I am sorry. It was so good to see you."

"Good to see you too. Maybe we can catch that drink before you leave," Curtis says. Fitz glares at him.

"Maybe so!," Liv says as Curtis comes down the stairs and kisses her on the cheek. Fitz is no longer glaring. He's just mad. He turns to Fitz, "Have a nice night." He gets on his motorcycle and leaves.

There is a silence, "I know I shouldn't be jealous but who was that little cocky bastard?" Fitz says.

Liv laughs, "You haven't answered my question yet. What are you doing here? This is not Chicago."

"No it's not! And now that we've both passed our geography lesson for today," Fitz jokes.

"His name is Curtis Pryce. He used to be my boyfriend in high school," Liv answers.

"I don't like him," Fitz answers.

Liv looks at him and rolls her eyes. She can't tell him how her heart jumped just seeing him. "Mr. Grant," she says.

"I need to talk to you before I make the biggest decision of my life."

"What decision is that?"

"I want to divorce my wife and I want to make sure that the woman I want feels the same way."

"Are you going to stay with her if I say no? I don't want you to divorce your wife just for me. I want you to divorce your wife because you know it doesn't work. I can't be the reason."

Fitz leans on the iron fence, "We both know my marriage is over. We both know I realized that first. I could stay for my kids and do the honorable thing but I won't be happy. In the end the whole family will be miserable."

"Fitz, you shouldn't have come here."

"My lawyer is drawing up the papers. I am telling her."

"Okay," she says.

"That's all you have to say."

Maya looks out of the window to see a different man standing there. She watches the interaction from the window.

"What do you want me to say Fitz? You are divorcing your wife and you want me. You won't stop me from feeling guilty about it."

"I know that and I think I know why you need time to think," Fitz says as he moves closer.

"No you don't," Liv says. "Please don't move closer."

"Then tell me," Fitz says as he brings his finger down her face.

"Fitz, you kissed me and I can't stop thinking about it," she says. "I can't stop thinking about you."

"Neither can I," Fitz answers.

"I want to be with you. I hate myself for that. But I don't want to be with you until we are both free and clear. I can't sit in my office every day and counsel couples on everything, especially infidelity."

"Your marriage is dead and yours is dead. The formality is signatures on a piece of paper."

"I know," Liv answers.

"It's up to you how long it takes for us to be together. I'm divorcing my wife. Are you going to divorce your husband?" Fitz says.

Liv wants him to walk away. She wants him to go. She wants him to kiss her. She wants him. She doesn't know what the right answer is. She only knows that one thing is right. She doesn't answer Fitz. She lunges into his arms and kisses him. Fitz's body is pressed on the iron. Before he knows it, he's lifted her off her feet. His arms are wrapped around her waist. She is holding on to his neck as they kiss. They moan into each other as the kiss becomes more and more passionate.

Maya is still looking. She turns away and walks away from the window.

Someone walks by them on the street and whistles. They stop kissing and laugh. "I forgot we were outside," Liv says.

"I don't care," Fitz says. "Don't make me stay away from you for too long!" Fitz says as he eases her down.

"Where are you going?"

"Back to my hotel. I don't leave until tomorrow afternoon," he says as he loses his grip on her. He turns and nods his head at the driver in the car. He turns back to her, "I'm a married man kissing you in front of your parents house. If I want them to be my in-laws one day, I better not fuck this up." Fitz answers.

"You are gonna marry me?" Liv says. "What would you have done if I weren't outside? Were you going to be a brave man and ring that doorbell for me?"

"Yes I would have because you are worth it." Fitz goes to the car, opens the door, "I've fallen for you Olivia Pope. I'm pretty sure you've fallen for me," he answers as he gets in the car and the car drives away.

Liv throws her head back in frustration. She hears the door open. She turns her head to see her mother there. "Is that Mr. Right?" Maya says.

"Yes he is," Liv says.

Will Liv be able to hold out until their divorces are final?
