Two Weeks Later:

Nancy is over at Jake's. He's been in his condo for two solid weeks. The cast has come off shoulder and arm. He's now getting around with crutches. He can do more things for himself. He makes his way to the kitchen smelling bacon and eggs.

"Mom, what are you doing here?"

"Making my son breakfast. What else would I be doing here?"

"Mom, you don't have to fix me breakfast. I can scramble something up."

"You shouldn't have to scramble something up. You need to be eating well and taking your medicine which is right there. Sit down and take your medicine and I will fix your plate."

"I really am a big boy. The doctor thinks I can take this damn thing off in two weeks and then I start the physical therapy."

Nancy is fixing the plates, "That's good. It's a shame you have to do all of that yourself. I mean you decided you didn't need your nurse everyday which was a stupid idea."

"I can take a pee on my own now and the bathing is hard but I rather get used to it on my own," Jake says.

Nancy shakes her head, "She could at least drive you around," Nancy finishes.

"Lucky for me it wasn't my driving leg. I can drive myself. It's been okay so far," Jake says as he takes his medicine.

"That's not what I am talking about," Nancy says.

"What?" Jake says.

"I don't know why you left the house. What sense did that make?" Nancy says.

"I don't want to go through this again. You know why I moved out. It was nice of Liv to let me stay there," Jake finishes.

"She should have done it. She is your wife. You act like she was doing you a favor," Nancy says angrily.

"You are still angry she asked you to move out," Jake says.

"Of course I am angry. I can't believe you aren't more angry about it," Nancy says.

"Mom, you were going through her mail. I cannot exactly defend you on that one and you two were constantly bickering. I didn't just move out for her. I moved out for you."

"I also can't believe you signed the dviorce papers. You just gave up and let her go. You better do something before those papers are finalized," Nancy suggests.

"Like what? I don't want to let my wife go but I don't really have any other recourse. I cheated on her and she caught me. I don't really have a line of defense why she won't give us another chance."

"We both know she's no angel after what she did. I will never forgive her for getting rid of my grandchild, my child," Nancy reminds him.

"I won't act like that didn't hurt to find that out but I can't deny it was her choice," Jake tries to reason.

Nancy looks at him incredulously, "I like how nonchalant you've chosen to take this."

Jake decides he wants more bacon. He is ready to get up. Nancy stops him and gets his plate. "I can do it. I do it when you aren't here."

Nancy turns to him, "So you don't want to let your wife go. So what are you going to do?"

"Maybe the divorce is the best thing Mom. I can't make her want to stay and that's not what she wants. I thought maybe we can start over. Start from a clean slate."

"Maybe you two should be in some marriage therapy. Maybe she should think about giving you two a chance," Nancy suggests.

Jake is sitting there in thought. He's quiet then he speaks, "We never thought about doing that."

"You would think that would have been one solution to try and fix the problems in your marriage coming from a therapist," Nancy reminds him.

"I don't know a lot of women that take their jackasses back after being cheated on, let alone catching them cheating," Jake says.

Nancy sits his plate down on the island, "I am not happy with what she did but she was good for you. You need to try and fix the mess you made."

"I asked for another chance and she shot me down. I don't need another rejection," Jake says.

Nancy refills his coffee, "She needs to see you didn't give up. That's all I am saying," she finishes as she gets up.

Jake sits there in contemplation. He doesn't want to let go of his marriage but he thinks they've come to the end of the road. But, does his mother know best?

It's after 5 pm. Liv has seen her last patient. Night is beginning to fall outside. Liv is pulling a book down off the shelf in her office. She hears the door lock. She turns quickly to see who it is. She is shocked by who she sees, Fitz. He is standing there with a look of hooded desire she hasn't seen in him before. He stands there almost prowl like.

Liv looks at him almost afraid but not scared. She can see it in his eyes. She knows what he wants, "What are you doing here?" she says dropping her book.

"I want you! That's what," he says as he walks closer

"No," she says, stepping back into her book case.

"There's nowhere to go Liv," He says almost amused. "There's only one way out and that's past me," he says as he turns and looks at the door and back at her.

"You have to leave," she says.

He sizes her up. He finds the skirt and the heels the perfect for what he has in mind. "Turn some music on," he says.

"What?" She says confused.

"Turn some music on," he repeats.

"Why?" She asks as he is now close enough to touch but not yet close enough.

"People don't need to hear what's going on in here," Fitz says as he's now face to face with her. Her face is surprised.

Fitz had taken stock of her classic Studebaker radio her father got her that is perfect for her office decors. She never breaks eye contact with him. Her will is completely gone. She keeps moving to the radio. She turns it on and she's a 90's girl so poetic that Freek n You by Jodeci begins to blast on the R&B station. She turns to him and just steps out of her shoes. She does it before she even realizes it.

"We shouldn't," she whispers as he stops her with his lips. She moans at the first feel of his lips are on hers.

Every time I close my eyes

I wake up feeling so horny

I can't get you out of my mind.

Cause sexing you be all I see.

I would give anything just to make you understand me…

I don't give a damn about nothing else.

Freek n you all I need.

His tongue is instantly so far down her throat that she can do nothing but welcome the sensation and suck on his lips as he slides his tongue in and out of her mouth. He brings one arm around her waist pulling her body into his. They both moan. He drops to his knees.

"Fitz," she says out of breath.

"I told you. I want you," he says as his hands travel up her thighs. He caresses her skin effortless as he searches for the line of her panties. The task of being nice about it grows tiresome, he rips them from her. The sound of the tear makes her wet with anticipation.

What must I say?

What must I do?

To show how much..

I think about freek n' you..

The sexiest gasp echoes from her lips. He lifts her leg over his shoulder. He begins to slowly nip at her skin, "Oh my god," she signs over and over. He begins to kiss up her thigh while gripping her thigh with his fingers. There is a scream that erupts from Liv when he sucks her clit, tugging it and sucking slowly. She wasn't expecting that introduction from his lips to her.

Tonight I need your body.

Tonight you got my time.

Tonight you won't be sorry.

Whatever you want it will be fine.

He presses her against the book shelf as he grinds his knees into the ground to pleasure. The expletives shoot out of her mouth as he licks her forcefully or nothing short of sailor material.. He's been waiting for this for so long. He's been waiting to smell her. He's been waiting to taste the sweet nectar that he knew was there. Now that he's here, he's not wasting any time.

Her body is sure to have shelve marks as he moves his body up and down as his mouth works her over to the point of wailing. He licks her inside and out repeatedly. He is moaning that she tastes so sweet. It's just how he imagined it would be.

Finally she says it, "Don't stop…," she yells at him.

He's lapping up her juices as her legs become jelly. He knows she's close. He brings his finger up to her core adding pressure to her as he moves his fingers inside and out of her he licks her like he knows what she likes and how she likes it.

I'm turned on by everything you say.

Turned on by everything you do.

And at night when I close my eyes

I only dream of freek n you

"Fitz, Fitz, Fitz," she's chanting. "I can't...I'm….," she can't form her words. She throws her head back to the shelf, slamming it. It doesn't even hurt. It's so good. His mouth feels so good. He won't let her go. The assault of his fingers and mouth is slowly making her slide down to her knees. He sucks her one more time as she climaxes. The scream of her release is like a soprano note being hit at the Met.

Then with a rush, Liv wakes up. She looks around the room. She's sweating and panting. She realizes it was a dream. He was a dream. Her heartbeat is rapid and erratic. She's never dreamed about sex that way. She's never dreamed about him that way. She catches her stomach trying to calm herself.

"Olivia, get a hold of yourself," she says as she turns to look at the clock by the bed. She's wet in more ways than one and slightly embarrassed. "What are you doing?" She asks herself. She sits up and swipes her face and the sweat away. She needs the coldest shower she can take. She gets out of the bed and her phone beeps. She looks down; it's a text from Fitz.

Fitz: Good Morning.

She sits and stares at the text. She hasn't spoken to him in two weeks, since their last phone call.

Fitz: Please don't make me talk to myself. I just want to know if you are okay.

Liv: Good Morning

Fitz looks at the response. He will take it after two weeks of nothing.

Fitz: I dream about you every night and I know you don't want me to call you. I go to sleep with you in my head and wake up with you on my mind.

Liv: I dream about you too.

Fitz smiles because she's actually talking. And surprising him, she calls.

"What did I do to deserve you calling me?" He asks.

"You don't need to know," she says blushing profusely. If only he could see the red of her cheeks.

"I want to know. Did you dream you hated me? Believe me, I can understand why," he says.

"No, it was just the opposite," she answers. She shakes her head after she says it. The lid is off the pot.

"Then what was it?" He asks.

She takes a deep breath, "Remember at Abby's we came close," she says vaguely.

"Close," he says.

"Close," she says. She knows she shouldn't dive in this water.

He takes a moment. He knows what she means. "You don't know how bad I want to put my mouth on you."

"I wanted you to," she answers.

"Then why did you stop me?" He asks.

"Because….," she takes a breath. "Because if we cross that line I can't come back. We can't come back."

"You dreamed I did that. You dreamed we crossed that line," He asks. He realizes what her dream was about.

"Yes we did. I let you. I didn't stop you," she answers.

He lets out an unusual laugh, "Livvie," he says.

"Why are you laughing? It makes you feel good I'm having sex dreams about you."

"No Sweet Baby, I had the same dream last night. We finished what I wanted to start," he answers. "It makes me feel good that you want that as much as I do."

"The worst part was waking up and realizing you weren't here. I wish we were in DC in our bubble, laying in each other's arms just taking each other in."

"I can fuel the jet and we do that right now. We can go to DC and check in the St. Regis and do just that and maybe some other things," he suggests.

"You know we can't do that," Liv says sadly.

He can hear the sadness and he can imagine the sadness in her eyes and just the thought of her tears and sadness kills him. "I am sorry Livvie. I am sorry about all of this."

"There's nothing for you to be sorry about. It's the hazard that comes with being involved in a relationship that has more than two people in it. "

"I am mad at myself. I let my guilt get me into this. My wife wanted sex and I knew we shouldn't have done it. But, I felt so bad about not wanting my wife. I felt bad about it. Sex without love is the worse offense."

"Fitz, you don't owe me any explanations. I'm not your therapist any more. I'm certainly not one to relagate who you can and can't have sex with," Liv says.

"I supposed for a while I did it because I wanted to see if there were any feelings there."

"That's a common reaction to realizing something is missing. You try to get it back. You try to find those feelings," Liv answers.

"Instead I found you," he responds.

She doesn't answer. Like he always does. He causes a catch in her throat. "Well, fate wasn't kind."

"Are you willing to wait for me?" He asks.

"What do you mean?"

"Are you willing to wait for me, for us?"

"Fitz, your wife is pregnant with your child. Your family will have a new member. You have to focus on your family Fitz, not me. We have to let each other go and just be glad we did it before someone got hurt before we hurt each other," Liv explains.

"Liv, I am already hurting. I am hurting because I'm not with you. I am hurting because I know this is hurting you. Every day that passes I feel like you are slipping away from me," Fitz says as he gets up walking over to the guest house window in his bedroom looking out at the pool. He's in his shirt and boxers.

"I don't know what you want me to say," Liv answers.

"I want you to say you trust that I will figure out a way for this to not be all we have."

" I can't do that Fitz. I can't be the reason you break up your family. I would never be able to live with that. Your wife being pregnant changes everything."

"But it doesn't change what we feel for each other. Does it change how you feel about me?"

"Does it matter?" She asks

"Yes it definitely matters. If the answer is yes then I'll hang up the phone right now and I'll leave you alone. I won't call you anymore. But if the answer is no, if this doesn't change how you feel about me then that's what's important."

"You want me to tell you I don't care about you...that I'm not falling…" She stops herself, "I can't lie to you but I can't kid myself. I can't hope for something that is not going to happen."

"You are the only one that can stop this train from moving," Fitz says.

"Don't leave this decision to me," Liv says.

"I told you I want to go through with the divorce," Fitz reminds her.

"I need to go Fitz. I have a packed day to day. I can't be late. Remember I charge by the hour," she tries to break the conversation.

"I remember," he says with a laugh.

"I'll talk to you soon, I guess," Liv says, trying to run as fast as she can from his request of waiting for him.

"One question," Fitz says quickly.

"What's that?" Liv says.

"Was it as good as you imagined? In your dreams that is," Fitz asks.

"Fitz, I am not answering that," she says all flushed. Her body is instantly tingling.

"Come on, that dream made you call me after two weeks of avoiding me. I think I should know just how phenomenal I was at making your body twist in pleasure as my mouth took you higher heights. I think I deserve to know what stripes I earned," Fitz says.

She's now breathing heavily which he can hear but he won't point it out to her. She takes a moment, "I had never felt pleasure like that before. You knew what I needed and how I needed it and you didn't stop," she admits.

"Were we in your office?" He asks.

Her eyes buck open wider, "What?"

"Were we in your office?" He asks.

"Yes we were," she admits.

He takes the phone from his ear, looking at the time. "That's always been my dream to take you there. Good to know you are having the same dreams," he says coyly.

"Fitz," she shakes her head.

"You better get to work," he says as he hangs up quickly leaving her with her horny thoughts of him in her dreams on his knees giving her what she was screaming for. She just lays back on the bed in frustration.

Fitz and Mellie are sitting in Elizabeth North's office. Elizabeth is tall and slender with big brown eyes and blonde hair. She's very stern in demeanor. She doesn't let them hold back from her and she coaxes whatever she needs out of them.

"So Fitz, it's been 2 weeks since you found out that you two were expecting. How do you feel about it?" Elizabeth asks.

"Am I supposed to be answering this truthfully or politically correct for my pregnant wife?"

"You are supposed to be answering truthfully," Elizabeth says. "You are well aware of that."

"His answer should be that he is happy beyond measure. He's over the moon that we are adding to our family," Mellie chimes in.

"Mellie, that is the answer you want Fitz to have. I am asking Fitz what his real thoughts are," Elizabeth says looking at Fitz.

"I can't say that Mellie. I can't say that I am happy beyond measure. I am not over the moon," Fitz says.

"Fitz look at Mellie and tell her what's on your mind," Elizabeth says.

"I tell her how I feel all the time. She doesn't want to hear what I have to say," Fitz says.

"Mellie are you ignoring Fitz when he tells you that he's not happy about this baby or with his marriage."

Mellie is annoyed that in minutes she looks like the bad spouse, "Of course I listen to him."

"No you don't Mellie. You have successfully blocked out anything I have to say since we found out that you are pregnant."

Mellie finally looks at Fitz, "You have never been a harsh man. You have never been a cruel man. That's what I love most about you. You have a heart and suddenly you've turned callous and uncaring. Why?" Mellie asks sadly.

"Mellie, I asked you for the divorce that night. The night you told me you were pregnant," he reveals.

Elizabeth is a bit surprised by this revelation, "So, you didn't ask her after. You asked her before."

"Yes and then she dropped that bomb. She makes it sound like she told me the news and I said fuck it, I want a divorce."

"I never said that," Mellie says.

"You haven't said it in those words but you've implied it and that's not how it happened."

"Mellie, did you think the news of your pregnancy would make a difference to him?" Elizabeth asks.

Mellie looks at Fitz, "Of course I did. What man could still look at his wife and mother of his children still want to high tail it and run?"

"Realizing your marriage is not a cowardly act Mellie," Elizabeth conveys.

"It is if you know the circumstances. I am pregnant and that should mean something to him," Mellie says.

"You know I care about my children. You know I love my children. I am going to love him or her just as much as I do Gerry and Karen. A divorce will not change that, not ever."

"You just don't care about me," Mellie answers.

Fitz throws his head back in frustration, "You know that is not what I was saying. Don't twist my words."

Elizabeth is learning fairly quickly what Olivia learned early on, Mellie hears what Mellie wants to hear, "Mellie. Fitz didn't say he doesn't care about you. He's saying he will be the same man he's always been when it comes to this child even if you aren't together."

"And I will be," Fitz concurs.

"Can you recognize that Fitz is trying to be honorable?"

"How is that?" Mellie says snidely.

Elizabeth decides to try a different angle, "Is Fitz a good father?"

"What?"

Elizabeth says it again, "Is Fitz a good father?"

"Yes he is," Mellie says.

"Do you believe if you were divorced he would continue to be a good father?"

Mellie is now upset. She knows what Elizabeth is saying. She refuses to answer the question because her answer is yes. "I think this baby is a new beginning for us. This is a baby that was conceived while I was on birth control. That is divine intervention," Mellie says.

"I certainly don't question divine intervention," Elizabeth says. "However I do believe you can't fit a square into a circle and call it a fit."

Fitz is watching Mellie's frustration and anger grow simultaneously grow, "Mellie, I will do right by you," he tries to say as lovingly as he can."

"I don't feel so good. Can we go?" Mellie says.

"We still have another 15 minutes," Elizabeth notes.

"We will pay you for it," Mellie says as she gets her purse and walks out.

Fitz is left behind, "Thank you Ms. North."

Elizabeth shakes her head, "We will see where we get in our next session."

Fitz looks unconvinced as he walks out.

Liv is sitting at her desk. She stares at the bookshelf thinking about the dream. The image is so vivid in her mind. She can feel it. It's like he's there but she knows he isn't. She feels like she's going insane. Her phone rings bringing her out of her daze of Mr. Fitzgerald Grant.

"Yes April," She says as she clears her throat.

"Boss, Elizabeth North is on the line for you," she says.

Liv is intrigued. Why would Elizabeth be calling her? "Put her through," she says. The line is transferred. "Hey Liz," she says.

"Hey," Liz says as she sits back in her chair at her desk.

"What's up?" Liv says.

"A few questions, therapist to therapist," Liz says.

"Depends on the subject," Liv teases.

"What do you do when one of your clients puts up a Chinese wall to the truth?" Liz asks.

Liv sits back in her seat. She knows what this is about. Besides their degree, they have one other thing in common, Mr. and Mrs. Grant. "Well, usually I use the session to chip away at that wall until it's completely down. Some walls are taller and thicker than others," Live says with a laugh.

"You know I didn't truly believe in the phrase, stubborn as a mule, until recently," Liz finishes.

"So a client has you beating your head on your desk," Liv asks.

"More like punching a wall. You know kind of like feeling like there are three people in the room but only two of you are actually listening," Liz says.

"Trust me, I do," Liv answers as she smiles just thinking about her head beating after their sessions on some occasions.

"I am running out of hard knock tactics here," Liz says. "It's so clear this guy wants out and his wife is just not hearing him or want to hear him."

"Sometimes it is hard for people to accept the truth or failure. Failure and success is important to some people. Some more than others."

"I guess I just don't want to have to be hard in saying there is no use in fighting for their marriage. Their marriage is dead," Liz says.

"That's always the hardest," Liv answers.

"By the way, you never told me why you gave up some of your patients," Liz says, not wanting to confirm she's talking about Fitz and Mellie.

"Well, the business is doing really well and I was just getting overloaded. I am glad I could push some things your way. You are amazing."

"You are just saying that," Liz laughs.

"No, I mean it. You are."

"Well, I will say this. Between you and me, whoever scoops him up when he's back on the market is going to be one lucky girl," Liz says.

"Liz," Olivia laughs.

"Come on, you can't act like you didn't see it. The man is gorgeous," she continues.

"He's your client," Liv says.

"And he was yours who you had to sit and look at for months."

Liv clears her throat, "Fine, he's gorgeous."

Liz let's out a sigh, "Damn Peter," she laughs.

Liv burst out into laughter, "Tell your poor husband I said hi!"

"I will. Let's do lunch soon," Liz says.

"Definitely! Talk to you soon," Liv says as she hangs up.

Her cell phone rings and she looks down to see it's Jake. She figures she should answer it.

"Hey," Liv says.

"Hey, did I catch you at a bad time?" Jake asks.

"No, I was just on the phone with a colleague of mine. Are you okay?" Liv asks.

"Yeah I am good. I just wanted to know you could meet me for lunch, if you haven't already had lunch."

"I suppose I could do that. Where do you want to meet?"

"How about the Gage?" He says.

"Sounds good. Give me about 45 minutes," Liv says.

"Thanks," Jake says as they hang up.

Mellie and Fitz are sitting in the car. Fitz wanted to take her to the hospital but she didn't want to go. She finally told him it was the session. It just upset her and she wanted to get out. They are now driving toward the Gage for lunch.

"Are you sure you don't want to go to the doctor?" Fitz asks.

"I am sure," Mellie says.

"I mean the doctor said if anything abnormal, you know."

"I am fine Fitz. Let's not play the concerned husband and father act now that we are out of the snares of Elizabeth North."

"Mellie, it's not snares. She's trying to help us," Fitz says.

"Okay, that's what it was," Mellie contends. "I just want to forget about that session if that's okay with you."

Fitz has stopped to get out. They are valeting the car. Fitz gets out and goes over to let Mellie out. They go into the Gage and there is a table waiting for them. "Mr. Grant, we have your table ready."

"Thank you," Fitz says as he leads Mellie into the restaurant behind the waiter. As they take their seat. Fitz knows he has to be careful about his words right now or everything will be a fight. They settle in their seats and start looking at the menus.

"Fitz, we need to start thinking about what room we want to change into a nursery."

"Are we at that stage yet?" Fitz says.

"We will be at that stage. The room needs to be painted. I was thinking about the room next to Karen's room. It's closest to us."

"Mellie, don't you think we need to talk about the session? She was just doing her job," Fitz says.

"Her job is to help couples not tell them to give up."

"She's also supposed to help us recognize things we might not see," Fitz says carefully.

"True but from the moment we walked in there she has been saying that divorce is sometimes the answer."

"I don't want to make our kids suffer Mellie. I don't want them to grow up hating us because we made them live in a home with unhappy parents. That's not fair."

"So, the better solution is to live with divorced parents," Mellie fires back.

"Mellie," he says frustrated as he looks up and sees Olivia come in and take a seat with a guy. He can't tell at first that it's Jake.

"What's wrong?" Mellie says.

"I think that's Livvi…Olivia Pope over there," He says hoping his freudian slip is not caught.

Mellie turns and looks over, "I think it is. Looks like she's having lunch with someone."

"I thought it was her," Fitz says.

"We should invite them over," Mellie says.

"No, I am sure they are having their own lunch," Fitz says although he is dying to know who the guy is.

"We are all here to have lunch. I am sure they won't," Mellie says as she stops their waiter.

"Mellie," Fitz says, trying to stop her.

"Yes ma'am are you ready to order?" The waiter asks.

"Not at the moment. See the lady over at the table over there," Mellie says pointing over at Olivia and Jake. "We wanted to see if they would like to join us. We know who they you have a table you can put us at for 4?"

"I am sure we do. I can ask if they'd like to join," the waiter says as he goes over. Fitz watches as the waiter asks. He sees Liv look over and they lock eyes. She sees Mellie. He sees Liv take a deep breath as she speaks to the guy in front of her.

The waiter comes back, "I can move you to the table over there. It would be easier for the gentlemen she's with."

Mellie looks at Fitz waiting for his approval, "Sure, we can go over. If they are okay with it."

The waiter helps Mellie out of her seat, "Follow me," he says as Mellie and Fitz follow suit. Fitz takes a deep breath knowing this is going to be the longest lunch of his life.

"Hello Olivia!," Mellie says with her signature giggle as she looks over at Jake. Fitz comes into view.

"Grant," Jake says.

"Jake Ballard right," Fitz returns.

Liv looks very confused. "You two know each other," she says confused. Mellie is the only one lost.

"I went over to do a bid on their house. I met Grant here," Jake says to Olivia.

Liv tries not to react, "Small world," Liv says.

"Oh you are Jake Ballard," Mellie finally catches on.

Jake points down to his leg, "Nice to finally meet you Mrs. Grant. I am sorry I can't get up."

"Oh that is quite alright," Mellie answers as Fitz pulls a chair out for her as he cuts his eye at Olivia. "How do you two know each other?" Mellie asks.

"This is my husband," she says as she smiles at Mellie and then eyes Fitz.

"Very small world," Mellie says. "Fitz saw you and I said it would be great if we have lunch."

Jake is now confused how Olivia knows the Grants, "And how do you all know each other?"

All three of them look at each other. Neither of them know the easiest way to explain it. "Well, I was their therapist," Liv says.

"Really," Jake says, shaking his head. It then dawns on Jake why they didn't know who he was. Olivia goes by Pope and not Ballard. That has always been the case and he never liked it. He notices that Fitz doesn't have too much to say.

"She's the best," Mellie says.

"Mellie, I just do what I'm trained to do," Liv answers meekly.

The waiter is setting the table with extra silverware as he hands Mellie and Fitz new menus.

"No, you are the best ," Fitz says with such cordiality. The eye dance that is happening between Liv and Fitz are searing and bold but veiled .

"Yes! We are on the road to recovery with a baby on the way," Mellie says as she pats her stomach. Mellie has no idea she's throwing it in Olivia's face. There is a knot that clenches the pit of Olivia's stomach seeing Mellie pat her stomach. She takes the palm of her hand and pats Fitz's face.

"Congratulations," Jake says. "My wife really is good at what she does."

"Congratulations," Olivia says as she drops her head to look at her menu.

Fitz can see the hurt in her eyes, "We should get some orders going," he says.

"Yes, I am starving. My appetite is starting to pick up," Mellie says as she picks up her menu.

Fitz wants nothing more than to take Olivia from that chair and they go anywhere but where they are. Jake can tell there's something he's missing at the table. "Jake we were sorry to hear about your accident," Fitz says.

"Thanks...my wife and mother took very good care of me," Jake says.

"So things are going better for you," Mellie says as she realizes she said something she maybe shouldn't have. Liv cuts her eyes over. "I am sorry. I spoke out of turn."

"That's okay," Liv says as she looks at Jake. Jake realizes their business is not all that private.

"As we spoke the last time, I will be starting at your house on Wednesday. I have a crew that will work while I assist from a chair. I am sorry that it was delayed for a while."

"That's quite alright," Fitz says.

"I never asked when I came to see the house. What do you do Grant?" Jake says.

"In a not so glamorous description I'm a Mechanical Engineer. I developed some specialized injections recently that were bought by an automotive company that I own rights and patent to. I am working on a deal with GE for appliances right now. My father wanted me to take the reigns of his engineering company but I had other ideas," Fitz answers.

"I suddenly feel underachieved," Jake answers.

Liv looks over at Fitz. Fitz recovers with the perfect answer. "You are never underachieved if you are doing what you love and if you are with who you love," Fitz says as he looks at Olivia and then thwarts his eyes to Mellie who has unwarranted hearts in her eyes.

Mellie looks over at them, "He really is a dream," she says.

"No, I am no dream," Fitz proclaims. "I just believe you should do what makes you happy. It is all about your happiness and no one else's," he says.

Liv shakes her head. Surprisingly she adds, "I think you figured it out. The keys to success is personal happiness and then everything falls into place."

"Definitely," Fitz says. Mellie looks at Fitz and then Liv.

Jake doesn't like the obvious 'understanding' between his wife and his client, "Maybe you should have been a therapist Grant," he says.

"No, I'll stick to the mechanics. Your wife is the therapist," Fitz says.

Mellie clears her throat, "Let's order."

"Babe, you want me to order for you," Jake says to Liv that catches her off guard. Internally Fitz is smiling. He knows that tactic.

"Sure," Liv answers as they all order.

They order their meals and have a very comfortable yet awkward lunch. Fitz is dying to just sit and stare at Olivia but his wife sitting beside him. He wants to reach under the table and caress Liv's leg but everyone would notice especially her husband.

It's later on that night. The kids have done their homework and are in their rooms. Fitz is in his office working on some papers. Mellie comes into his office.

"You okay," Fitz says.

"Yes, I am okay. It was great to see Olivia today. Small world that her husband is our landscaper," Mellie notes.

"Very small world," Fitz says.

"I want you to move back into the house," Mellie says.

Fitz sits back in his chair, "Why?"

"Because it's always important for us to bond with the baby and I think it would be good for the kids," Mellie explains. "You said that Karen knows something. I'm sure Gerry does too. We need to try and fix this."

"The kids have no idea I am sleeping in the guest house," Fitz says.

"For now they don't but we need to tell them about the baby and us looking separate but supposedly equal won't look good."

"So now you want to lie to them," Fitz says.

"No, I want us to make a concerted effort."

Fitz rubs his brow slowly, "I'll give it some thought," he finishes.

"Thank you," Mellie says as she walks out.

Fitz dials a number, waiting for Charlie to pick up.

Charlie picks up, " I was beginning to think I was fired."

"No, I need your help," Fitz says.

"Shoot," Charlie says.

"I am trying to figure something out. It's going to take you breaking a few minor laws but I am trying to figure something out."

"I live for the underworld. What do you need?"

"This is of a personal nature. My happiness depends on it," fitz says.

"You got it," Charlie says as he listens for the specifics of his job.

Liv is at Jake's. The impromptu lunch that ended up being an unwanted foursome threw off her afternoon. She had to reschedule some appointments and load out the rest of her week.

"You could have gone back to work," Jake says.

"I could have but I gather you wanted to talk to me. That is why you wanted me to have lunch with you," Liv says.

"I wanted to talk to you about us."

"What about us?"

"I was talking to my mom this morning and she asked me why I gave up on you without a fight and honestly I am asking myself the same question."

"Your mother is sticking her nose in our business as usual," Liv laughs with frustration.

"She just wants what's best for me Liv," Jake says.

"That is most definitely true," Liv says.

"Let's just get the divorce and we start over. People do it all the time. What is it you say? Sometimes you have to break it down to build it back up," Jake says.

"Jake, I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to lie to you. That's why we are getting this divorce. We have to move on with our lives. And you are right, sometimes you have to break down to build yourself back up but that doesn't mean trying to build something that shouldn't be built again."

"New foundation, new structure, new love…"

"New beginnings," Liv answers. "We both deserve that. Maybe there is somewhere out there that is perfect for you. She's going to be the one. Somewhere out there is the person I am supposed to be with," Liv finishes.

"I am surprised the Grants marriage is working itself out," Jake says.

"Why do you say that?" Liv says with apprehension.

"I couldn't figure it out but it felt like he was flirting with you. He wasn't flirting with his wife who was desperately trying to flirt with him. It almost felt like he wanted me and his wife to disappear," Jake notes.

"What does that have to do with us?" Liv asks.

"I don't know, I just. I don't know," Jake says.

"Jake, I love you and I want you to be happy. I have had a lot of time to think about what my happiness looks like and a lot of it starts with me. What we had was special and I will always cherish that. You have to find what your happiness looks like."

"I can't see that without you," Jake answers.

"You have to. You do." Liv answers as Jake drops his head. "I did want to talk to you. I want to sell the house. I rather be downtown, closer to the water. The house is so big for just me and I want to sell it."

"But that was our dream home," Jake says.

"Jake," she shakes her head.

"Okay, if you want to sell the house. Sell the house."

"We split the profit," Liv says.

"That's fine," Jake says as there is a knock at his door. It's his physical therapist coming so they can work on his knee.

"I am gonna go. I'll talk to you soon," Liv says as she leaves.

It's later on that night. Liv is in bed watching a movie with her snack of choice, wine and popcorn. She promised herself she wouldn't call or text him but she can't help it.

Liv: Are you alone?

Fitz: Not anymore!

She calls him…

"Hi!," she sas.

"Hi!"

They sit and listen to each other breathe.

"Serendipity," Liv says.

"What about it?"

"You met Jake that day," Liv acknowledges. "You asked me if I believed in serendipity," she remembers.

"Yes I met him that day."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Liv says.

"Because….I don't really know why," he answers truthfully.

"She's not going to give you up. You know that right," Liv says.

"Liv," he answers.

"She's not going to give you up. She's going to fight until the end for you. She plans to stay Mrs. Fitzgerald Grant. It's her goal. You are her case that she has to win," Liv acknowledges.

"I am not going to let you use her as an excuse for running," Fitz answers.

"Use what as an excuse. You want me to ignore the pride on her face when she rubs her belly and lets everyone know that you are hers."

"I am sorry about that," Fitz says.

"No need to be sorry Fitz. Just try and fix your family."

"What about us? I am not giving up and I'll be damned if I left you," Jake answers.

"You know Jake thought you were flirting with me. He thought you wanted me."

"He would be right," Fitz proudly answers.

"You can't act like that around me. You can look at me the way you do. You have to learn to look away," Liv says.

"I can't do that," Fitz answers.

"Why?"

"Because you are my case to win. That's why," Fitz says.

"It shouldn't be this way," Liv says.

"What shouldn't be this way? How we feel about each other...we can't help that."

"The more I'm away from you, the more it hurts."

"Good," Fitz says.

"Oh, you like me being in pain."

"No! I like you wanting the same thing I want. You are my dream and I won't stop until that's our reality."

"I should go," Liv says.

"Did I spread you out on your desk?" Fitz randomly asks.

"What?"

"In your dream. Did I spread you out on your desk and lick every inch of you?"

Liv is immediately flushed and wet. The vision of his lips on her can feel it. "We didn't make it to the desk."

Fitz is more than proud of himself. "You better go to sleep then. You need to finish the dream," he says, licking his lips.

"You don't play fair," she answers.

"You have no idea," he answers as he hangs up.

Liv hangs up the phone and clings to her wine glass and takes another sip. The man on the other end of that phone is not going to let her out of his grip. The problem is, she doesn't want him to. She doesn't know what to do. She falls asleep watching her movie hoping that she gets to finish that dream. She hopes it has Fitz's ending.

Fitz is bending her will. Mellie is not giving up. Jake's eyes are opened. And Charlie has been given an assignment. What is going to happen next?
