Liv is sitting in the hospital emergency room after being checked out. The police decided to take her statement there. She gave them all the pertinent information. They didn't have to go far to pick Mr. Porter up. He waited in the lobby of the building. He was in shock. He just kept staring at his hands and apologizing. His blood alcohol was so high. He barely remembers making his way to the office.

Liv is with the police. "Do you know what caused him to snap?" The police ask.

"He told me his wife took the kids and moved out and insisted I in some way would fix it. I didn't even know she moved out. But he thought it was under my direction."

"We found out that the security guard left his post. That's how Mr. Porter was able to make it to your office," The police explained. Liv drops her head. April just sits, crying, feeling guilty that this happened.

Liv looks at her, "I'm okay April," Liv says. April just looks at her face. Her chin and eyes are bruised from the punch. Her cheeks are red from slaps.

"I am so sorry Boss," April says.

"He didn't kill me and he didn't rape me. This will go away," Liv assures her as she points at her scars.

"I think we have everything we need . We are going to have a police car take you home," the policeman says as he finishes his notes.

"That's really not necessary. April can take me home," Liv says.

"Actually, I called Abby. She's going to come," April interjects.

"Ma'am we just want to make sure you make it home safely," the policeman insists.

"Abby is my best friend. I will be safe. She will stay with me tonight."

"I sure the hell will," Abby announces when she comes in. She rushes to Liv's side. "Are you okay? Damn…," she says as she sees Liv's face. "Did they catch the fucker?"

The policeman laughs, "Yes we did."

At this point Liv is now laughing and it hurts to laugh, "Abs," she says softly.

"I am sorry. I just want to kill this bastard myself," Abby says. She then looks at the cop, "I am not going to kill anyone."

"I can assure you, officer, I am in good hands," Liv says.

He looks over at Abby and April, realizing she is. "Okay, but we will be talking with you tomorrow."

"Okay! Thank you for all your help," Liv says.

"I just can't believe this happened," April says looking.

"How did he get into the building?" Abby asks.

"A long but short story that I really don't want to talk about right now," Liv answers.

"I feel like this is my fault," April continues with tears in her eyes.

"April, I am okay. I am a little shaken. A little shocked. But...I'll be okay," Liv says.

"Well clearly you are in shock. You are too composed right now for someone who was attacked," April says.

Abby grabs her hand, "You know if you are not okay. It's okay. Someone attacked you. If you want to break down, it's okay to break down."

"I know I was attacked. I will have to look at my face for the next few weeks," Liv says. She looks around. She remembers she doesn't have her purse or her phone. "I need to go back to the office."

"Why do you want to go back there?" April asks.

"I need my purse and my phone. I left it all there."

April has her moment of clarity, "No you didn't. I have it all. While the police were getting you in the car and everything, I took care of that."

Liv is touching her fingers gingerly, "Thank you," she says.

"I should call your parents and your brother," Abby says, whipping out her phone.

"Abby, don't call them. Not right now. They'll get on a plane tonight or drive. I don't want them to do that plus I just need a moment to breathe," Liv says with pleading eyes.

"Your parents will kill me and you if you don't tell them," Abby says.

"I will! First thing in the morning. Just not tonight," Liv answers.

"And what about Mr. Grant?" April asks. Before Liv can answer, the nurse comes in.

The nurse comes in, "We just need you to sign your discharge papers and you can go. Do you want something for the pain?"

Liv takes a deep breath, "Yes I would," she answers quickly. The adrenalin has now subsided and the pain is really starting to set in.

"I will get the prescription for you and I will be right back with the paperwork," the nurse says as she leaves.

"April," Liv says pointedly. "Do not call Mr. Grant!"

"Why not?" Abby says.

"Because they just lost a child. He's taking care of her. He shouldn't be taking care of me," Liv says.

"Pull out the violins. I am sorry that happened. But…," Abby continues.

Liv cutting her off, "But nothing. Do not call him. Both of you promise that you won't." Abby doesn't say anything. Neither does April. "I need to hear both of you say you won't."

"Fine, I won't. I don't agree with it, but I won't," Abby agrees.

"I won't either," April answers.

"Thank you! Now I would like to go home and hopefully have some deep dish pizza and a glass of wine. I would like to do that before this eye is completely shut on me," Liv says pointing at her ever growing swollen eye.

"That's so not funny!" Abby says.

The nurse comes in so Liv can sign the paperwork. They get her belongings and they leave. Abby and April can tell that she is shaky and they are worried about her.

Fitz has been trying to keep himself in check all night after overhearing Mellie and her mother. He's been home an hour now and he wants to go into the bedroom and tell her he's taking their kids and go. He wants to go in there and tell her it's over. But he has to be smart about this. But he knew he needed something in his hand to tell her he was on to and he knew what to do. He called Charlie and gave him his marching orders.

He settles down to watch the news on the couch of their 's been sleeping there since the surgery. He is drinking a glass of scotch as he gets ready to watch the news. The newscaster comes on with a very surprising report/ He immediately notices the office building.

A doctor was attacked today at her Lincoln Park office by one of her disgruntled patients. Police say the man walked into her office shouting and demanding her help. When she refused, he attacked her. Police also say he was drunk at the time of the attack. He has been arrested on assault and battery charges. The doctor was brought to a hospital. She is said to be okay.

Fitz knows it's Liv's office. He quickly grabs his phone. She's not answering. "Liv please pick up the phone. Pick up."

Liv sees his name as she looks at her phone. She takes a deep breath. She's at home in bed. She and Abby are just staring at the television not saying much after the news report.

"Are you going to pick it up?" Abby says.

"What?" Liv says.

Are you going to pick it up. I am going to assume he's Studabaker because you are ignoring the call. I am sure he saw the news report or heard about it. Is that him?"

"Yes it's him. I'm not going to answer. He needs to stay where he is," Liv insists.

"Shouldn't that be his decision?" Abby asks.

"No it shouldn't," Liv says, starting to cry but she tries not to show it.

"Come on Liv! If he knows, he is probably worried sick. Just let him know you are okay," Abby says.

"I don't want him to see like this. I look terrible," Liv says as she pats her bruised face. "

"You were attacked. He won't care. He will just want to know you are okay." The phone rings again. Abby decides to go against her wishes. "Hello," Abby answers after she swipes the phone.

"Livvie," He says.

"Just a moment," Abby says as she gives the phone to Liv.

"I am going to kill you," Liv whispers as she takes the phone.

"Whatever," Abby answers as she takes their dishes downstairs.

"Hi Fitz," Liv says.

"Please tell me that wasn't you. I saw the news. That was your office building," he says as he clenches his jaw. At first Liv doesn't answer. Her silence is all he needs to know the answer. "Dammit," Fitz says

"It was me," Liv says softly. It's barely above a whisper.

"Fitz I am okay. He roughed me up." Liv explains.

"You had to go to the hospital. He hurt you. If he wasn't in the police's custody I would break his neck," Fitz says.

"Fitz, they got him and I'm fine. I promise."

"Did he?" Fitz catches a lump in his throat.

"No he didn't," she answers quickly.

Fitz hears his name. It's Mellie calling for him. She can hear the television and his voice. His name is getting louder and louder.

"Liv," he says.

"That's okay! You better go. I'll be fine. Abby is here with me and she's going to stay the night," she hangs up before he can answer.

"What are you doing down here?" Mellie says.

He looks at her annoyed. All he's thought about all night is how she tricked him. How she got what she wanted. How he fell for her tears and she used his guilt against her. He's in no mood to offer her any explanations.

"I wanted some quiet," he says.

"Some quiet," she answers.

"You know, a little time by myself," he says.

"Will you sleep in our bedroom tonight?"

"Why?" He asks.

"Because I can't sleep. I keep seeing our baby," she says. This only makes Fitz angrier.

"Actually Mellie, I have to go out. I'll be back in the morning."

"Back in the morning. Are you kidding me?"

"Yes. I am going to my office to work on something that might take all night," He answers as he gets up.

"You can't leave in the middle of the night and.."

"And what Mellie?" he says angrily.

"I have been having trouble sleeping. You know that," she says, pulling at his shirt.

"I would have trouble sleeping too if there was too much at play on my mind," Fitz says as he backs away from her.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Mellie asks.

"It means I need to go and if you need me, you know where to call me."

"I cannot believe after what our family has been through in the last couple of weeks that you would leave in the middle of the night for something as frivolous as work," Mellie lays on the guilt.

"Haven't you moved heaven and earth for work?" Fitz asks as she turns and walks away. Mellie is struck by his words. Fitz leaves. He gets his keys and takes off.

Liv can't fall asleep. She didn't want to admit to Abby that every single time she closed her eyes she saw Mr. Porter's fist coming at her. She was staying awake to escape that image. Abby is asleep in the other room. She lies in bed with the back to her door. She is clutching her covers. She hears the door crack. She doesn't say anything. She thinks it is Abby checking on her for the 100th time. She takes a deep breath. She can feel the body getting in bed next to her.

"I'm fine Abby," she says, almost annoyed.

"I had to see for myself," the voice says.

Liv jumps and turns to see Fitz lying there. She sits up in the bed. She can't argue. She can't believe he's there. "What are you doing here?"

Fitz looks at her, "Shhh," he says.

"I am going to kill Abby and April," Liv says.

Abby lets her know she can hear her, "Goodnight!"

"Fitz you better go," Liv says.

He puts his finger on her lips. He opens his arms and she lets her body relax into his as she holds her tight. He can't see her face because she has the lights off. "I'm so sorry," he says. He can feel her tears on his shirt.

She lets down her defenses, "I'm so glad you are here," she says.

He kisses the top of her head, "I wasn't going to be anywhere else."

"You shouldn't be here," Liv says into his chest.

"Why not?" Fitz says as he strokes her hair gently.

"Mellie, she's going…"

He stops her, "I don't want to talk about Mellie. Not right now. Right now, I only care about you. Do you get that?" Fitz asks. She doesn't answer. He reaches up to turn on the light.

"No don't," she says.

"Why?"

"I don't want you to see my face. Not right now," Liv says adamantly.

"I don't care what you look like," Fitz says.

"I care," she answers. He turns on the light anyway. "Fitz turn it off."

"No," he answers. She pulls the covers further over her face. "Would you look at me?"

She shakes her head no, "Please," she pleads with him.

He brings them up to sit up on the headboard. She's now burying her head in his shirt. "Livvie, look at me." She shakes her head no again. "I won't turn it off until you do."

"Why are you doing this?" She says as she clings to his shirt and the covers.

"Because," he says stroking her realizes she is fighting a losing battle. She slowly starts to raise her head. He takes his finger and lifts her head to him. He closes his eyes when he sees the black, blue, and purple colors that are now her makeup. He's shaking his head in anguish. "I am going to kill him. I am going to kill him." He then starts to gently caress her face. He can't see both of those beautiful eyes he loves to get lost in.

"Can we turn it off now?"

"No, how can I see you if we do that?" He kisses the bruises slowly.

She begins to cry harder. This is the first time she's really let herself cry since this happened. "I was so scared. I fought him as much as I could."

"It's okay! Don't blame yourself. That son of a bitch was wrong. You are alive and in my arms and not on slab, you should be proud of yourself. You fought to stay alive."

"He has never been like this. He drank alot and that was a problem. He was never violent," Liv says.

"Well, he better be glad the only thing standing between him and I is the police right now." Fitz says.

She is taking in his scent and his arms around her. It's so right. It's so perfect. "How long can you stay?"

He lifts her head to his, "I am staying all night."

"You can't do that. She's going to wonder where she is. She might get suspicious. Most men that don't sleep at home are cheating," she's protesting.

He takes a chance and plants a soft kiss on her lips. "I told my wife that I am working all night."

"Fitz you need to go home," Liv says.

"I am not going home until tomorrow. Tonight is for you. I don't care what my wife thinks. She doesn't care about what I think," he says surprisingly.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't worry about it. Close your eyes and go to sleep," Fitz says.

"Would you kiss me?" she asks. The question surprises her and him.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure," she says.

He brings his lips down to hers. He starts with a slow peck that she returns. She parts her lips, letting him know she wants more. Their lips connect in a way that they haven't before with each other. She lets him kiss her however he wants. She moans into his mouth as their lips begin to touch and duel in need. She tugs his bottom lip into her mouth as she can't get enough of tasting him and he can't get enough of tasting her. The kiss is so hard and strong that they are breathless but they don't want to let go. The kiss is so intertwined that they don't know where they end or where they begin.

Finally she pulls away, "What are we going to do?" She asks.

"We are going to be together and I am going to make sure nothing like this ever happens again," he says as he kisses her again.

She nestles her head into his chest. He turns the light off. "Will you be here when I wake up?"

"Right here," he says. In that moment, he can feel her relax her body into his. He starts to sing Frank Sinatra, The Nearness of You to her.

When you're in my arms

And I feel you so close to me

All my wildest dreams come true…

I need no soft lights to enchant me

If you'll only grant me the right

To hold you ever so tight

And to feel in the night

The nearness of you...

Before he knows she's fallen asleep in his arms and he's holding her tight. The nearness is all they need from each other right now. He needed to know she was okay. She needed to know she was safe and she is.

It's morning and it's almost the perfect morning. The trees are shaking softly. The wind chill is at a perfect pitch. The snow has started as they move into November. Abby opens the door to find them both asleep in each other's arms. She's never seen Liv look so peaceful, considering the circumstances. She decides to make breakfast because that's the only type of meal she can make.. Abby has purposely left the phone off the hook. She didn't want Jake to call or try to come over.

There is a frantic knock at the door. Abby looks on the camera Liv has outside the door. It's Jake! Abby takes a deep breath, "Jake," she says.

"I saw the news. I want to talk to Liv. Is she okay?"

"She's okay Jake. She's asleep. She doesn't want to see anyone right now."

"She would want to see me. Would you just open the damn door?" Jake says angrily.

"The last thing she needs right now is you angry. She's okay. I will tell her you stopped by."

"Abby, I know you don't particularly like me but my wife was attacked last night. I think she would want to see me. I saw the news this morning."

"Jake, it's not about you. Liv doesn't want to see anyone right now, not even her soon to be ex- husband."

The reality always pricks him where it hurts. He tries to forget the divorce but it never leaves. "Ask her to please call me. I am just worried about her," Jake says.

"I will tell her you were here," Abby says as she looks up in the ceiling.

She sees him finally resolve he should leave. "Would you tell her I love her?"

Abby answers, "I'll tell her you were here," is all Abby can promise him.

"Thank you," he says as he turns to leave.

"This is going to be a problem," Abby says.

Upstairs, Fitz is now awake, he's watching her sleep. He can't stand to see her face but the black eye could have been a lot worse and the swelling of her jaw could have been too. He can tell she's having a nightmare. She's restlessly moving in her sleep.

"No, no, no," she whimpered lightly.

He tries to caress her back and arms to let her know she's safe. "Shh," he says softly.

"Don't leave me Fitz," she says frantically in her sleep.

"I'm right here baby. Right here," he says as he tries to coax her back into her sleep.

She grabs on to him tighter and with a sudden rush, she wakes up screaming his name. She looks around to find him right there. He's holding her. He's right where he said he would be. "You are here."

"I told you I would be," he answers. "Although good thing I didn't walk out and into your husband this morning."

"Why? Was he here?"

"Yeah, I am pretty sure I heard Abby talking to him. He was at the door. She didn't let him in."

"We can't take risks like that. You can't take risks like this." She sits up. It doesn't even register to her that she isn't hiding her face. Her bruises aren't covered from sight. The morning light is hitting their faces and she's exposed to him. "Why did you risk being here last night?"

"What?"

"Why did you risk being here last night? You lied to your wife. You stayed with me. Why?"

"You should know the answer to that," Fitz responds.

"I don't want to delude myself. You have a wife. You can't come running to me whenever something happens."

"My wife," he shakes his head. "I didn't want to talk about this right now but," he's trying to find the words.

"Talk about what?"

"My wife stopped taking her birth control pills," Fitz answers.

Liv takes a moment to soak it in. She knows exactly what that means, "She got pregnant on purpose."

"She did! She knew exactly what to do to try and trap me."

She intertwines her fingers with his, "I'm so sorry," Liv almost breathes a sigh of relief. "I can't believe she admitted it to you. Is it because you lost the baby?"

"No, she would never admit to me. She wants to keep me, so she's willing to play this out until we are old and gray."

Liv sits up, off of his chest and rests her back on the headboard and holds his hand. "How did you find out?"

"I overheard her talking to her mother," Fitz says. "And there was no feeling in her voice. There was no sound of remorse. Her mother had more remorse for me than she had, that she lied to me."

"What are you going to do?"

"I am going to do what I should have put my foot down and done a long time ago."

"What is that?"

"I am going to sit down and tell my kids we are getting a divorce and then I am going to tell her how the next couple of months will play out."

"Do you think that's a good idea right now?"

"Last night, I had to lie to a woman I married. The mother of my children.A woman that I don't love. A woman that I now have no respect for, so I could go be with the woman I should be with," he explains tracing her face as she's still so beautiful even with the bruises.

"Fitz," she whispers.

"To answer your question. You wanted to know why I took the risk to be here with you last night. The answer is easy. I needed to be here for the woman I'm falling in love with. I would have slept on your steps last night to just be near you," he says.

"You can't fall in love with me," she answers.

"It's too late," he laughs.

"Two married people falling in love with people is highly inappropriate."

"Are you saying you are falling in love with me Ms. Pope?"

She stares into those baby blue eyes that's her sea of forgetfulness right now. She's forgotten she's bruised and hurt. She can only feel the love that's in his eyes, "Yes I am," she answers.

"Then I guess we have to be inappropriate," he grins.

"But we said we would wait," Liv answers.

"I think my wife being a master manipulator sped up the waiting. And for the record, we are divorcing our spouses. We are inappropriate, not highly inappropriate," he explains.

She laughs at his correction. "I don't want to wait," Liv admits.

"I've never wanted to wait but I will always respect what you want and what you need," Fitz answers.

She looks away from him, "But I don't want us to get caught. I don't want to lose my license."

"We are going to be careful. We are going to figure this out. And we are going to get you into a more secure building before I have to beat someone's ass to a pulp."

"My building is safe. It was just a breakdown in security," Liv explains.

"That won't happen again because you are going to be safe."

She sees it's in her best interests to not argue with him. "Okay," she answers. She looks at him, "So what does this mean?"

"This means we start planning how to go forward with our relationship. It's going to be rough but we can do it," he says as he reaches over and kisses her.

"I hate that you have to leave," she says. "I can't believe you sung to me."

"I thought I was in the clear. I thought you were fast asleep," he says.

"No, you have little magic in your chops," Liv says with a smile.

"Consider yourself special Ms. Pope. I don't just sing for anyone."

"Oh yeah! Who else?"

"My daughter Karen! It's a secret between us."

Liv reaches over, reacting a little to the throbbing pain, "You can sing to me any time," she says kissing him on the cheek.

They decide it will be nice to have breakfast together before he has to go to work. But he's promised her that he is coming back to spend the night with her. He makes her a fresh pack of ice for eye and cheeks.

Mellie still can't believe Fitz left last night. He's never done something like that before. What kills her is that she doesn't know where he went. He called to tell her that he will pick up the kids and bring them home and that they would talk when he got home. She has to admit, the suspense of it all is killing her. She is on the phone with her best friend, Sally Langston. She is the Mayor of their little town of Winnetka and they have been friends since college.

"Mellie, why are you freaking out?" Sally asks.

"Well, he went left last night and told me he wasn't coming home. He was going to work at the office."

"You know I have more things to be concerned with than your husband needing a break from you. What did you do Mellie?" Sally asks. Everyone seems to know Mellie but Mellie.

"I didn't do anything. I have been extra needy since we lost the baby but that is understandable," Mellie says.

"Well maybe he just needed a break from the 4 walls. It is hard to lose a child. You know that. I had two miscarriages before I had my girls. They were early miscarriages but they were hard."

"I know that. It's just that nothing is going to stop him from this divorce now."

"Mellie, we both know children don't keep marriages together. Most of the time, when they do, the child suffers in the end. In your case, the children suffer."

"Listen, you know I like Fitz. I always have. He's a good guy. He's a good dad. But, you married him because he was Gerry Grant's son and you had your sights on a seat at a firm. Once you found out who Fitz was you thought you would join Grant & Associates. You didn't marry Fitz for love," Sally reminds her.

"Well, it doesn't matter what I married him for. We got married. That's it," Mellie answers.

"The chickens have come to roost, so you might as well deal with it. I have a meeting to go into with the Zoning Board so I will talk to you later," Sally says as she hangs up.

Mellie hangs up. She can't accept that he stayed in his office. So she calls to try and catch him in a lie. She calls Nora. "Nora can I speak to Fitz," she says.

"He's in a meeting with some of his shop floor guys. Can I have him call you back?" Nora asks.

"It will just be quick," Mellie says.

Fitz is standing there. He knows how Mellie operates, Nora asks, "You want me to interrupt his meeting."

"Yes I do," Mellie says.

Fitz rolls his eyes. He knows the answer. He goes to his phone, to take the call. "Let me get him," Nora says as she rolls her eyes.

Fitz answers, "Mellie, I am on the floor with my shop guys."

Mellie is surprised to hear her voice, "I didn't mean to interrupt."

"Yes you did," he answers with a smile of victory.

"Are you coming straight home when you pick up the kids?"

"I will," he answers.

"Okay! I will see you then."

"Okay," Fitz answers as they hang up. He takes a deep breath. He knows that after tonight the calls and the fighting will be a daily mantra.

Liv is on the phone with her parents who are running to get on a plane immediately . She has to stop them from doing it.

"Livvie, we are coming to Chicago. As soon as we can get a flight out," Maya insists.

"Mom, you don't need to come. I am really okay," Liv says. Her parents have her on speakerphone.

"Why didn't you call us last night?" Maya says.

"You should have called us Olivia," her dad says. He never calls her Olivia unless he's upset with her.

"Dad, he's really not a bad guy. They lost their son and I think losing his marriage was just the last straw," Liv says.

"That's no excuse for him hurting my baby. I want to kill him and if you think your brother won't be in Chicago with me in a heartbeat, you are mistaken," Eli says.

"I know daddy. I know but basically turned himself in," Liv tries to explain.

"He punched you," Maya says.

"Yes he did. I'll heal Mama. I'll heal," Liv says.

"You have to get out of that building. What kind of fucking security guard leaves his post to go smoke. It was after hours. He should have locked the door. That means this guy was watching you. He knew you didn't leave."

"Daddy, Fitz is taking care of that. He's going to lease a new office space for me with more security. Until I move, he's going to hire a security guard for my office. I couldn't talk him out of it."

"Good, I like the way he thinks," Eli says frustrated.

"And I talked him out of a 24 hour security guard at my house. Huck's going to do it, for now."

"That makes me feel better," Maya says. "Are you sure you want to go back to work?"

"Mama, I can't let him scare me into oblivion. I love what I do. I can't stop doing that."

"We are coming this weekend. Do not argue with us. We are staying for a few days," Maya finishes.

"Okay, I will stock the fridge," Liv answers.

"Your brother is probably coming too, so get ready," Eli adds.

"I love you," Liv says with a smile.

"We love you too. We will see you Friday evening," Maya finishes.

They hang up as Abby comes in. "How did it go?"

"They are coming on Friday," Liv laughs.

"I figured," Abby laughs. "Is he coming back tonight?"

"He wants to," Liv says.

"Do you want him to?" Abby asks.

"Yes I do and I hate myself for it," Liv shakes her head.

"Don't hate yourself for love," Abby says.

"Well, we can't chance Jake coming by to check on me. I am going to stay in a hotel until Thursday," Liv explains

"That's a good idea," Abby says.

"Can you go somewhere with me?" Liv says.

"You want to go out," Abby says surprisingly.

"Luckily it's snowing and faces are covered from the cold so," Liv shrugs.

"Well let's go," Abby says. Just as she says this. There is a ring at the door. Abby gets up. She looks at the screen. "It's a delivery person."

"What?" Liv says coming over to look

"Looks like a delivery," Abby answers. "I'll buzz you in," Abby says.

They get the rose bouquet from the delivery person that has an envelope attached. Abby is trying to get her purse for a tip. The delivery person answers, "That's okay ma'am. I was already paid a tip."

Liv takes the flowers. She opens the envelope. She smiles as soon as she reads. The note simply reads. These flowers will wilt but your beauty won't. She takes a breath, "Fitz," she smiles.

"I know this is not the time to be asking this question but when are you going to give him the nookie?"

"Abby," Liv says as they go out of the door.

Fitz has picked up the kids. He took them to get hot chocolate that they are having in the car, so they can talk alone.

"I need to talk to you guys for a second," Fitz says.

"Are we in trouble daddy?" Karen asks.

"No sweetpea. You are not in trouble," Fitz assures her.

"You and mom are breaking up," Gerry says.

Fitz looks at him surprised, "How did you know?"

"I heard you and mom arguing last night. I came to look for you. I wanted to talk to you," Gerry admits.

Fitz clenches his jaw, "I am sorry you heard us arguing."

Gerry shrugs his shoulder, "That's okay."

"Are you leaving us daddy?"

"No, we are going to be like Molly's mom and dad, remember. Some days you'll be with me and other days you will be with your mom," Fitz explains.

"Is it our fault?" Karen asks.

"No sweetpea. It's not your fault. Mommy and Daddy just can't be together anymore, that's all."

"Is it because of the baby?" Gerry asks.

Fitz forgets how smart his children are. "No, it's not because of the baby. We lost your little sister but things like that happen. But that's not why. We just don't love each other anymore. And when that happens, grown ups decide to do the grown up thing and that's break up."

"Are you moving out?" Gerry asks.

"I will move out. But that won't change anything. Everything else will be the same. I just won't be in the house with you."

"But you still love us right daddy," Karen asks.

"Of course I love you. I'll never stop loving you. Your mother and I will never stop loving you. We just don't love each other."

"When are you moving out?" Gerry asks.

"In a few weeks but your mother and I have some things we need to iron out first. We will talk about it more. I just wanted you to know what's going on. I wanted to be honest with you."

Gerry and Karen both look sad and it breaks Fitz's heart. He couldn't lie to his children anymore.

"We can still go fishing?" Gerry asks.

"Absolutely," Fitz says.

"And we can still go on our doll dates," Karen asks.

"Definitely," Fitz laughs. He looks at them. "Are we good?" He asks. They both shake their heads that they are. They go home. Fitz knows the fight that is going to ensue.

Huck is at his post outside her door in a car. He's a man of a few words. He always has been. He's always looked like a teddy bear but he's no teddy bear. He will tear your head off if he needs to. Abby and Liv always considered him their earth angel. Liv makes him come in. Abby was called for a surgery. She's going to come back and check in.

Huck scratches his beard as he looks at Liv's face, "I would have tore his fucking head off."

"Then I am glad you weren't there," Liv says.

"You know, I know some guys who are on the inside right now. I can get a message to them. Give him a little welcome to row beat down," Huck says.

"Huck, do not call any of your friends. I am okay. Okay," she says.

He shakes his head in disagreement, "Just a little taste of what he gave you."

"Huckie, it's much better than it looks. I am shocked it happened but I'm 10 tons of dynamite remember?"

"Doesn't make me feel better," Huck says. His face has permanently been angry since he heard. "I like this Grant dude," he finishes.

"I like him too. I can't wait for you two to meet. So you can size him up."

"Yes, so I can explain who I am."

Liv laughs, "You hardly look like a weapon but you are full of surprises." The doorbell rings. Liv checks to see it's Jake. "It's Jake."

"I don't like dude," Huck says.

"Be nice! He wants to check on me," Liv says. "Go to the television room."

"Nah, I am good here."

She lets Jake in who is immediately upset by the sight of her face, "Damn, why didn't you call me Liv?" He says. He looks to see Huck sitting in the breakfast nook. "Huck," he acknowledges. Huck just stares at him.

"Jake, the police took care of me. April and Abby took care of me. What could you do?"

"Be there to take care of my wife. That's what," Jake says quickly. Huck clears his throat.

"I need to stay here with you at least until.."

"Mr. Porter is in police custody. He's not coming after me again. Everything is going to be fine."

"But just for my benefit. At least I'll know you are safe," Jake tries to argue.

"Huck is going to be outside at night. I will be fine and I will be moving my office in a few weeks."

"You are still going to work," Jake asks stupidly.

"Jake, this is my job. Patients attacking their therapist etc., is not uncommon."

"Yeah but…"

She stops him, "I'm not stopping my work."

"Okay!" He throws up his hands. "How about I order some dinner? For you too Huck."

"No, I am really tired and I really just want some quiet time. I am glad you stopped by. Call me tomorrow," she says trying to hurry him out.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure," Liv says as Huck smiles which Jake sees. He leaves, surprised she wouldn't let him stay.

"Can I rough him up because he deserves it?" Huck asks.

"No you can't," she laughs as she goes to change her clothes. She's going to fix dinner for her and Huck and then wait for Fitz.

Fitz makes it home with the kids who run straight to their room. He can't tell if they are okay or not. He assumes that they are. Mellie is home in her office working when Fitz knocks on the door.

"Mellie, It's me," he says.

"Come in," she says as she waits for him.

"Where are the kids?" She asks.

"In their rooms, doing their homework. I promised them they could play with their games tonight."

"Did you hear about that attack at Olivia Pope's office building last night? They didn't release her name but I am assuming it was her. Mike and Alexandria got a call that their appointments for the next two weeks were cancelled." She says.

"Yes I heard," He says, trying not to act too affected.

"That's such a shame. I hope she's alright," Mellie says.

Fitz studies her, "Me too. We should send her flowers or something."

Mellie smiles, "That's a great idea. I'll do that tomorrow."

"Good," Fitz says. "Mellie, I...we need to talk."

"Did you come in here to apologize for last night?"

He laughs at her audacity. "No, I didn't."

"You left your wife and kids in the middle of the night to go to your office. We just lost a baby Fitz. Do you not see how insensitive that is?" She asks.

Fitz stares at her. He makes sure the door is locked. "Do you want to go there?"

"What?" She asks, confused.

"Do you want to go there?" He asks again.

"Fitz, I don't have time for the games. What are you talking about?"

"I told the kids tonight that we are breaking up. Basically that we are getting a divorce."

"You did what?"

"I told the kids. You seem to put it off like it's not happening but it is happening."

"I don't believe you," Mellie answers.

"I don't believe you. You sat in that room with your mother last night and gloated about tricking me so you could get pregnant. In the back of my mind I didn't want to believe you would do that. But, you didn't do that."

Mellie is stunned, "Fitz…"

"I can't believe you did that. I had Charlie to do some digging. He's good at stuff like that. You stopped taking your birth control pills about a month after we started therapy with Olivia. That was your plan all along to get pregnant to make me stay."

"I just thought….I wanted to.."

"Don't explain yourself. You tricked me. I want the divorce. You are going to sign the papers tonight," Fitz explains.

"You are just upset and I know everything has been upsetting," Mellie tries to compromise.

"What was it you said to your mom?" He takes a breath. "I remember, you said, He's never going to find out." He looks at her, eyes raging with anger, "Surprise! I found out."

"What now?" Mellie asks.

"You are signing the divorce papers," he answers. He walks out of her office and she crumbles, realizing she's been caught red handed and screwed.

It's later on that night. Fitz waited until they had dinner and the children went to bed. Mellie did sign the papers and gave them to Fitz. He dropped them off to Antonio on his way to Olivia's. Fitz takes a car there. He gets out of the car. It's dark and he's coming in warm clothes, including his face. He goes up to the door. Jake is in a car watching from a few cars away. He can see this mysterious man go up to his wife's door. Liv opens the door and lets him in. He also notices Huck is given the wave off as he leaves.

"Who is that?" Jake says.

OH BOY! It's on!
