Fitz rushes to the hospital. He doesn't have any details. He just knows there was an accident and he doesn't know how bad it is. His heart is racing as the traffic makes him anxious. As close as he is to the hospital, it seems so far. He reminds himself that he needs to stay calm. That whatever he has happened, he can take it. There are other things going through his mind but in this moment it's unimportant to him. Those are his children and he loves them. That's all that matters.

He doesn't even remember parking his car. He rushes through the hospital doors and rushes to the reception desk. They advise him that they are in the trauma unit. The moment he hears trauma, his heart drops. He gets upstairs to the waiting area to find his mother in law waiting there with.

"Doreen, where are they?" He says rushing over to her.

"Fitz," she says, reaching for his hands. "Gerry had to have surgery. They won't say how bad it is. Karen a laceration I think they said to her stomach, possibly a punctured kidney. I don't know the details or medical jargon. Mellie was sedated. She has a broken arm and hand. They sedated her," Doreen explains.

"How did this happen?" Fitz asks, trying to stay calm.

"A guy ran a red light as Mellie was turning and smashed into the passenger side," Doreen says.

"On the passenger side where the kids were sitting?" Fitz says as his heart sinks.

"Yes," she answers.

"I need to talk to a doctor," Fitz says quickly as he turns to look for anyone who can help. The nurses don't offer any help except that both kids are in surgery. He and Doreen go back into Mellie's room. Mellie who is still asleep. He stands at the foot of her bed

The nurse comes in, "Excuse me sir, are you family?"

"She's my wife….my ex-wife," he corrects.

"Well she was very disoriented and very upset about the children. We thought that would be good. She has a sprained neck, so keeping her sedated is good for now," the nurse explains.

"I really need to know the status of how my children are. Please can you find out for me. Please!" Fitz says.

"I'll go see what I can find out for you ," she says as she leaves.

"Fitz, I was told that they did have on their seatbelts so it could have been worse," Doreen says.

Fitz takes a deep breath, "That's good. That's good," he says dumping his hands in pockets. "My kids…," Fitz says.

"They are cut from Grant and Owens' blood. You know what that means?" Doreen asks.

"No, what does that mean?" Fitz asks with a slight grin.

"They are double strong," she says.

Fitz shakes his head. He's not overly convinced. He won't be convinced until he sees his children with his own eyes. "I'll be right back," Fitz says as he goes out and is surprised to see Abby there. "Abby," he says.

Abby looks up, "Fitz," she answers, shaking her head in confusement. "What are you doing here? Is everything okay?"

"Mellie and my kids were in an accident. They are in surgery but I don't know what's going on. Can you find out what's going on?"

"Yes, what are their names?" Abby asks.

"Gerry Grant and Karen," Fitz answers.

"I'll go find out. I have a surgery I was called in for but I'll see what I can find out," Abby says as she takes off in search of some answers. Fitz lets out a breath. The waiting is killing him. The uncertainty is killing him. But he tries to stay calm. Mellie's father walks up.

"Fitzgerald," he says.

Fitz looks up to see an always brooding, Burton Owens coming toward him. "Hi Burt!"

"What's happening?" Burt asks.

"They sedated Mellie. She has a sprained neck. Gerry and Karen are in surgery but I don't know how bad it is," Fitz answers.

"Well what the hell are they doing?" Burton raises his voice as Doreen comes out.

"I have someone checking, getting some answers for me," Fitz answers.

"Burton, you need to calm down. Come in and see Mellie," she instructs him as she grabs his hand bringing him into Mellie's room.

Fitz is not in the mood for Burton and his over stimulation of situations. He decides he needs to call his mom and dad and tell them what's going on. He calls and of course they are going to come right over. He turns to see Abby approaching him.

"What's happened?" He asks.

"Gerry has a crushed knee and around the ACL and a fractured fibula. It appears the impact of the car smashing into his side of the car," Abby explains.

Fitz takes a deep breath, "And Karen," he says.

"Turns out, that's why I was called in. She's got a laceration to her kidney and a broken arm. They were able to stop bleeding. I am going to repair the break in her arm. We will see how bad it is. The injuries sound bad but it could have been much worse."

"How did she get the laceration?" Fitz asks.

"It seems glass from the window shattering punctured her. Thank goodness they were wearing their seatbelt and the airbags were working."

Fitz is visibly shaken, "Hockey," he says.

"What?" Abby says confused.

"Will he be able to play hockey again? He loves it," Fitz asks.

"Well the surgeon is working on him. We won't know until after. I will work on Karen's arm as soon as they are done but it seems that her recovery time will be minimal," Abby responds.

"Abby please make sure they take care of them," Fitz says.

"I will and I will make sure a nurse keeps you updated." Abby says as she pats Fitz on the shoulder and turns to go back into surgery.

Earlier at Lunch:

"A baby and a wedding would have been something," Rochelle says.

Abby and Sonja throw their head to Liv, "You are pregnant!" Abby screeches.

"Oh my god you are pregnant. Is that why he asked?" Sonja adds.

"Would you two calm down? And you," Liv says looking at Rochelle, "You never could hold water."

"I thought they knew," Rochelle says.

"Damn Liv, how could you not tell us?" Abby says.

"I am not pregnant. I thought I was pregnant. But false alarm," Liv explains.

"Are you sure?" Sonja asks.

"I am sure and that's not why Fitz asked me to marry him," Liv continues.

Just as she says this Abby gets a call. She looks down, "It's the hospital I have to take this," she says getting up.

"What would you have done if you were pregnant?" Sonja asks.

"I don't know. I just know I freaked out at first and I avoided him because with Mellie on my tail, I didn't need that surprise right now," Liv says.

"If I were you, I would open my legs and have a hundred of his babies. That man is fucking fine," Rochelle says rather loudly which makes people sitting near them look.

"We can't take you anywhere," Liv laughs.

"I like her honesty," Sonja laughs.

Abby returns, "I need to get to the hospital. They need me to pinch hit a surgery on a little girl's arm."

"You don't do that anymore," Liv says.

"I know but both doctors are in surgery. Back to the old stomping grounds. So, I gotta get going," Abby says. "It was so nice to finally meet you and hopefully we will hang out at the club tomorrow night."

"I hope so," Rochelle says.

"Talk later," Abby says to Liv. "See you tomorrow." Abby says as she leaves.

Fitz returns to Mellie's room. She's woken up. Her parents are sitting on both sides of her bed. There's of course an awkward silence sucking the air out of the room. They all look at each other.

"What's happening with the kids?" Mellie asks as she tries to sit up. The pain of her neck pulsates.

"Don't try to move Mellie," Fitz says.

"How are they?" Mellie says worriedly.

"Hell, I know you know something," Burton steps to him.

"Burton please," Doreen says.

"They are both in surgery. Karen has a broken arm and a laceration to her stomach and her kidney. It was a bad break so Abby is going to do the surgery but she said it should be fine."

"Who is Abby?" Mellie asks.

"Is she a good doctor?" Burton asks.

"She's a good doctor. She's a friend of a friend. Karen is in good hands," Fitz answers.

"And Gerry," Mellie asks.

"There was damage to the ACL and a fractured fibula. They are working on the ACL but I'm told it all could have been much worse."

Mellie gets teary, "When Karen screamed that the car was going to hit us, I tried my best to move. I really tried."

Fitz has to let go of all the thoughts in his head about Mellie and be there in that moment. They need to be there for their kids. "Mellie, it's not your fault some guy ran a red light."

"Fitz is right Mellie. This is not your fault. It's that guy's fault for being so reckless," Doreen says squeezing her hand.

Fitz can see it in her eyes. She needs him and he has to be there. Burton is giving him the, Don't be a son of a bitch right now, look. Fitz goes over to Mellie, "The kids are going to be alright. They are in good hands."

The nurse comes in, "I see we have a full house," she says as she goes over to check her vitals.

"Nurse, can you give me something for the pain?" Mellie asks.

"Yes, I am going to give you something but the doctor wants to come and check you out first," the nurse responds.

"Why don't we go in the waiting area until you get done?" Doreen suggests.

"One of you can stay," the nurse says.

Burton gets up, "Fitz, you stay with your wife."

Fitz clenches his jaw. "Of course I'll stay," Fitz answers.

Burton and Doreen exit as Mellie looks at Fitz. She sees that vein that protrudes when he's angry. "My father just has a hard time accepting that we are divorced Fitz."

Fitz shoots his eye over at the nurse, "No harm no foul plus there are more important things going on right now."

The nurse interjects, "Your blood pressure is a little high but mostly because of the pain you are managing right now and the stress. We need to get that down."

"Can you give us an update on our children?" Mellie says to nurse.

Fitz clenches his jaw again, "Anything you can find out nurse."

"I'll see what I can find out. Your doctor should be in, in a few minutes," she says as she leaves.

Fitz sits in the chair. He doesn't know what to do with all his anxiety. He would feel better if he could just see the kids. "My parents are on the way here," Fitz says.

"That's good," Mellie answers. "Fitz, our kids are going to be okay aren't they?"

Fitz hesitates, but not for the reasons Mellie thinks. He reluctantly grabs her hand. "The kids are going to be fine. They are fighters," he answers as he quickly looks away.

"Fitz are you okay?" she asks, noticing his distance.

"I am fine. I just have a lot on my mind of course and I just want them to be okay," he answers.

Mellie's mind has been spinning since the mention of her name, so she has to ask. "Is this Abby person good at what she does? I mean if Karen needs a specialist we should get one. Is Abby a specialist?"

He knows she's fishing. Right now is not a good time to tell her that Olivia's best friend is performing surgery on Karen. He answers as truthfully and evasively as possible. "She's good at what she does and they called her in. I don't think they would have called her, if she wasn't any good."

Mellie takes the cue, "Okay, our daughter is in good hands."

Before Fitz can answer the doctor knocks to come in. "Hello there!" Dr. Lufton says as he comes in.

"Hello doctor," Fitz answers.

"Hello," Mellie answers.

Dr. Lufton goes over to Mellie's bedside as he takes a look at the chart. "You have a severe neck sprain and concussion. Your head probably feels like it is spinning out of control right now."

"Everything hurts to be honest," Mellie says as she winces.

"That is to be expected. The impact you suffered was quite severe," the doctor answers.

"You are going to experience severe fatigue for the next few days. There will be ringing in your ears. And you have to refrain from any rigorous activities and movements. You don't want to further aggravate the strain," the doctor explains as Mellie looks over to Fitz.

"Okay, I think I can most definitely do that."

"Mr. Grant, do you have any questions? It might be a good idea to hire in home health care for the next few weeks. You all will need all the hands on deck," the doctor explains.

Fitz realizes the doctor still thinks they are married, "Doctor, I don't currently…"

Before he can finish, Mellie interrupts, "We will hire some help."

"That's good!" the doctor answers. He gets up going toward the door. He can see the daggers The Grants are throwing to each other with their eyes. "I am going to go and see what information I can get on your kids."

"Thank you doctor," Fitz answers as he takes a door shuts and Fitz continues, "Why did you not tell him?"

"Our kids are in surgery. We just had an accident. Our marital status is not important, our kids are," Mellie surmises.

"We have no marital status Mellie," Fitz says pointedly.

"But we have children. That bonds us for life," Mellie throws back as Fitz grips his seat handle. There's another knock at the door. "Come in," Mellie says quickly. Fitz's parents walk in.

Fitz gets up, "Mom...Dad..," he says. His Mom can immediately see the frustration in his face.

"Mellie dear, I am so glad that you are okay," she says as she walks over to Fitz, quickly grabbing his hand.

"Thank you Mom," Mellie says.

"Mellie," Big Gerry says as he closes the door. "Son, how are the kids?"

"They are in surgery," Fitz says.

"Are you okay?" His mother asks, pulling him aside.

"I am fine mom. I just want them to be okay," Fitz says.

"They will be honey. They will be fine," she answers.

Fitz sits with his parents and Mellie's parents. They are waiting for news on the kids. Abby texts Fitz asking if he can come out. He excuses himself meeting Abby.

"I am all done. It wasn't as serious as we thought. But she's okay and the laceration was minimal but she is fine," Abby says.

Fitz lets out the deepest breath, "Thank you so much!"

"Just doing my job," Abby says.

"Can you come in and introduce yourself? She's already suspicious as to how I know you," Fitz says.

"Of course I can. Who did you say I was?" Abby asks.

"A friend of a friend," he smiles.

"Have you called my friend to tell her what's going on?" Abby asks.

Fitz lets out a breath, "I haven't called her. I need to. I want her here but you know," he turns looking at the door.

"Let's go update her," Abby says as they go into the room.

Mellie looks up, "Is everything okay?" she quickly asks.

"Everything is fine. This is Abby Whelan," Fitz announces as Mellie's parents and his parents. "She was Karen's doctor."

"Hello," Abby says as she glances at Fitz.

"How is my daughter?" Mellie says.

"She is doing good. They are bringing her to recovery. You all should be able to see her shortly," Abby explains.

"And Gerry," Fitz says.

"They are finished with his surgery. They are going to be bringing him to recovery shortly. Everything looks great."

Very abrasive, Burton interjects. "What kind of recovery are we looking at? Things can't be that good. They needed surgery."

Fitz quickly pipes in, "Burton."

"That's okay!," Abby says as she addresses Burton. "They needed surgery but they are okay. It was minor surgery but they were both surgeries to make sure nothing got worse."

"Thanks so much Abby," Fitz says as he opens the door for Abby to help her out. He turns to them, "I am going to see if I can see Karen and Gerry." Fitz announces.

"I'll come with you," Burton says.

Fitz's mom slaps Gerry's hand. Gerry speaks up, "I'll come too."

"Tell them mommy loves them," Mellie says.

"Of course," Fitz says as he goes out.

They get outside the door, Abby pulls Fitz aside. "I'll call Liv. You have your hands full," Abby finishes.

"Thanks Abby! Tell Liv I love her," Fitz says.

"Of course…," Abby turns to leave. She turns around, "Congrats on your secret engagement," she whispers.

"Thanks," Fitz laughs. "I should have known she'd tell you."

"A proposal during hot sex is always good gossip," Abby answers as she chuckles leaving. Fitz shakes his head in slight embarrassment. Gerry approaches him.

Gerry notices the familiarity with Abby, "What's the story there?" Gerry asks Fitz.

"I'll tell you later," Fitz answers as the nurse arrives to bring them to the room.

Liv and Rochelle are sitting at a bar having cocktails before dinner. They shopped the rest of the evening and Liv took Rochelle to some of her favorite spots around the city. She likes playing tour guide.

"That guy at the end of the bar has been eyeing you since we walked in. That was only 10 minutes ago," Rochelle says.

Liv looks to see who she is talking about. "Oh my God!" Liv shakes her head.

"What? You know him," Rochelle quickly takes note.

Liv laughs, "Yes I do. He's been asking me out on a date for a few months. It's like he's following me."

Rochelle eyes him and looks him up and down, as much as she can. "He's good looking. I wonder what he's working with."

"I don't wonder about that," Liv laughs.

Rochelle shakes her head, "I know you don't. You have a long polo stick waiting for you at night."

Liv's cheeks immediately go red, "Shut up."

The bartender speaks up, "What would you two ladies like? It's compliments of the gentlemen at the end of the bar."

Liv looks at Rochelle, "See."

"Well we are not turning down drinks. And what's his name anyway?"

Liv peeks down at him, "Russell."

Rochelle looks at the bartender, "I'll have a Sex on the Beach and she'll have a Cosmo."

Liv's phone rings, "He's going to think I'm miraculously interested."

"No he won't. Trust me."

"It's Abby," Liv says as she picks up. "Hey Abs what's up?"

Rochelle is mouthing a, Thank You, to Russell when she can see Liv's face is changing forms and it's gone from tickled to worried. Russell is rising from his seat to come over. "Liv, what's wrong?"

"Abby, what do you mean?" Liv says. Liv catches her chest, "Is Fitz okay?"

Rochelle realizes it's serious, "What happened to Fitz?"

"I'll be right there," Liv says.

Abby stops her, "Liv you can't come to the hospital. You know that. Her parents are here. His parents are here. And Mellie is already wondering who I am."

Rochelle stops Russell, "I'm sorry Russell, now is not a good time. Thanks for the drinks but she's got an emergency."

"Does she really or is she avoiding me?"

"Don't flatter yourself. Thanks for the drinks but we have to go," Rochelle says.

Liv is still talking to Abby, "Abby, tell me the truth. He needs me doesn't he?"

"Of course he does Liv but…" Abby tries to explain.

"I am coming Abby. I'll keep my distance. As long as he knows I am there."

"I know I can't stop you. I'll see you when you get here," Abby concedes as they hang up.

"Trixie what's wrong?" Rochelle asks.

"Fitz's kids are in the hospital. Mellie had a car accident. Both of the kids had to have surgery. I need to be there," Liv explains.

"Let's go," Rochelle says.

Russell was quickly forgotten, he responded, "You didn't touch your drinks."

"It wasn't meant to be," Rochelle answers as they leave.

Fitz is sitting with Gerry who wakes up to see his leg in a sling. He is groggy. He looks around the room and he sees his grandfathers and dad staring at him.

"Dad is everything okay?" He asks.

"Hey Champ!," Fitz says, giving him a kiss on the forehead.

"Dad, we are guys," he says and that makes them all laugh.

"You were in an accident and you are going to be okay. Let your dad give you a kiss," Fitz argues.

"Mom and Karen. Were they hurt too?"

"Yes they were but not too bad. All of you are going to be fine," Fitz answers.

"You are a strong kid. You are an Owens," Burt says.

"And you are a Grant. Grants are strong," Big Gerry answers.

"He's more like an Owen than a Grant," Burt says annoyingly.

Big Gerry lets out a breath, "He's a Grant. Grant blood is running through his veins. He's made of steel."

Gerry laughs. Fitz looks at them both, "Would you two stop?"

"Karen was crying a lot, dad. I remember. I tried to help her but I couldn't move my leg." Gerry says.

"That's okay son. Your sister is going to be fine. You are great big brother," Fitz assures him.

The nurse comes in. "The machines were beeping. Looks like our hockey star is awake."

"Yes he is," Fitz says.

"Let's get your vitals," the nurse says.

Fitz is just staring at his son who is staring at his leg. "Dad," he says softly.

"We will take this one step at a time," Fitz says.

Gerry shakes his head. "Okay."

"Listen, I need to go and check on your sister and be there when she wakes up. Grandpa Burt is going to stay with you. I'll come back as soon as I can," Fitz announces.

"Okay," Gerry answers.

"Can I give you a kiss for your mom? She wanted you to have one," Fitz asks.

"Dad that's gross," Gerry feigns.

"I know," Fitz says as he gives him another kiss on his forehead. He turns to leave, looking at Burt, "I figure you would want to show your strength here," Fitz says as he pats him on the back and leaves.

Abby is outside of the door waiting. Fitz gets worried immediately. Abby can see the worry in his face. "Karen is just fine. I didn't mean to worry you," Abby takes a breath.

"What's wrong then?" Fitz says.

Before she can answer, Big Gerry interrupts. "My son didn't formally introduce us. I am Fitzgerald Grant Jr. I'm the reason this one looks so good."

Abby laughs, "I see where he gets his charm," Abby says as she shakes his hand. "I am Abby Whelan."

"And how do you and my son know each other?"Gerry asks.

"Dad, we can do this later," Fitz says.

"No we can't. She operated on my granddaughter. I want to know who she is," Gerry finishes.

"I am a friend of Olivia's," Abby says.

"Ahhhh," Gerry says as he looks at Fitz. "Mellie can never know that."

Fitz takes a breath, "I know."

"Liv is on the way. I told her what happened and she's worried about you. I couldn't stop her," Abby says.

"That's okay," Fitz shakes his head.

"You go in and see Karen. I'll be on the lookout for Liv," Abby says.

"Thanks Abby," Fitz says.

"No problem," Abby says as she walks away.

Gerry looks at his son. "She's your ex-wife now. Liv is the woman in your life now. I know you are a good man Fitz. You are much better than I ever was. You don't owe Mellie anything. If your girlfriend wants to be here…"

Fitz interrupts him, "Fiance," he corrects.

Gerry eyes stretches, "You proposed."

"I did. I didn't have a ring but I did. Right now it's a secret. I am going to propose right but she said she'd marry me," Fitz says proudly.

"That's great news son. She has every right to be here. The Owens can stick their attitude up their asses where everything else is," Big Gerry says.

"Pop," Fitz laughs.

"I never liked them. You know that," Gerry finishes.

"I know I don't owe her anything. In fact she owes me but we will deal with that when the time comes," Fitz says.

"What's going on?" Gerry asks.

"Not right now. Let's go see our little princess," Fitz answers as they go to Karen's room. They get to Karen's room and she's still fast asleep. Fitz rushes to her, sitting in the seat next to her. She looks like a little angel. Fitz kisses her head incessantly. His mother walks into the room.

"Is she awake?"

"Not yet," Gerry answers. Fitz's mother moves over to the other side of the bed.

"I couldn't take another minute of Doreen and Mellie. I was trying to be polite and nice but I was running out of pretend patience," she says.

Fitz and Gerry laugh as Karen starts to stir, "Daddy," she says.

"Daddy's right here," Fitz says kissing her head. "Grandpa and Grandma are here too."

"Daddy it hurts," she says.

"I know it does. But they fixed you so you can get better faster. Don't try to move," Fitz says as he holds her little hand.

"I can't move my arm daddy," she says as she tries to move it. "And my tummy hurts."

"You can't move your arm right now. That's where they had to fix you and they had to fix your tummy. So we have to play freeze for now until they say you can move it again. You think you can do that?" Fitz asks.

"Do I get a treat if I do?" Karen asks.

They all start to laugh as Abby comes in with Liv. "Look who's here?" Abby says.

"Olivia," Karen says cheerfully.

Fitz goes to her quickly. He takes her hand, kissing it, "I'm glad you are here."

"I know this is a bad idea but I couldn't stay away," Liv says.

"I'm glad you didn't," Fitz answers as he lightly kisses her lips.

"Gross," Karen laughs.

Liv looks at Gerry and Corinne not knowing what to say. She can tell that Gerry is his father and he can see where Fitz gets his eyes from. Fitz realizes no one has been properly introduced. "Livvie, this is my mother Corinne Grant and my father, Fitzgerald Grant Jr. We call him Big Gerry," Fitz says.

"Hello, it's so nice to meet you," Liv says.

"It's very nice to meet you dear. I was wondering when Fitz was going to bring the future Mrs. Grant to meet us," Corinne says. Fitz looks at Liv and then at Gerry and then back at his mom. "I'm assuming you did," Corinne says.

"I sort of did," Fitz answers.

"She said yes," Gerry cuts the silence. "And son, she's exceptional," Gerry says speaking of Liv's beauty.

"I know," Fitz says as he kisses her temple.

Corinne hugs her, "That's fantastic. I'll finally have the right..." Corinne stops herself noting Karen is alert and listening.

"Can I have a hug Grandma?" Karen pipes in, feeling a little left out.

"No Buttercup. Grandma doesn't want to hurt your little scratches," Corinne says as she kisses her head. Fitz just smiles as he scans the room in the picture before him. This is how it should be, he thinks to himself.

"Olivia, did you bring cookies?" She asks and that makes the room erupt in laughter.

Liv throws her head back in laughter, "I didn't. I guess I'm a really bad visitor," Liv answers as she walks over to her, grabbing her other hand. Liv looks at her. "Looks like you have a few boo-boos that need to heal and I'm thinking you are going to have to be a good girl to do that."

"Yes, daddy said if I be a big girl and let them heal I'll get a treat," Karen rolls her eyes which make them laugh.

"Well, your daddy is right. So, if you can do that. Maybe I'll bring you some cookies," Liv says as she touches her nose. Fitz comes behind Liv, putting his arm around her shoulder. He has some tears in his eyes that Liv takes note of.

"And we can play basketball too," Karen reminds her.

Liv winks at her, "I'll see what we can do," she smiles.

"Basketball," Corinne says quizzically.

"I'll explain later," Fitz says.

Abby gets called away so she's not on standby to warn them about what's about to happen next. The door to Karen's room opens as a nurse is pushing Mellie in. The nurse is talking, "I think your husband is in here," she says as she pushes the door open for Mellie to wheel in. Everyone stops in their tracks, looking toward the door. "Full house," the nurse says.

"I'll say," Mellie responds snarkily. "One too many," she finishes.

"Mommy," Karen says.

Mellie directs the nurse to roll her to Karen's bedside. Liv and Fitz move. The daggers Mellie throws at Liv with her eyes are sharp and piercing. "There's my baby girl," she says.

"Mommy, I've got boo-boos," she says.

Mellie is trying to keep cool for the sake of appearance. "I see baby. The doctors tried to make you all better."

"Since she is awake. I'll let her nurse know so they can take her vitals," the nurse says as she leaves.

"Olivia is going to make me cookies when I'm better," Karen announces.

Mellie says to Liv, rolling her eyes. "What would we do without the Cookie Lady?" She's annoyed by the fact she can't turn to her.

"I am going to go and wait in the waiting area," Liv says, not wanting a scene to ensue.

Fitz whispers to her, "You don't have to leave."

"Yes she does," Mellie says softly.

"I do. I am not doing it for her, believe me. I am doing it for you and Karen," Liv says loud enough for Mellie to hear.

Corinne is thoroughly entertained by Liv's ability to make it a match. "Why don't I come with you dear?" Corinne says.

"I'd like that," Liv answers as Gerry decides to join them.

"Maybe I'll get some dinner for everyone," Gerry says.

"Thanks Dad," Fitz says.

Liv turns to Fitz, "We will get some food in you. I wouldn't want my husband-to-be to wither away on me."

Mellie can't believe what she hears. Liv made sure she heard it. Fitz can't help but chuckle. So much for keeping it all a secret. "I wouldn't want that either," Fitz answers as he kisses her. "I'll see you outside."

"Gross daddy," Karen laughs. Mellie has turned a bright shade of red.

"Okay," Liv smiles at Fitz. She turns to Karen, "I'll be back to see you Karen," Liv finishes.

"Bye Olivia," Karen says happily. Liv gives her a wink as she leaves. Liv, Corinne, and Gerry leave. There is a thick tension hanging over their heads. The silence is deafening.

Fitz carefully goes and sits on the other side of Karen. Mellie can't find the words and she doesn't want to argue in front of their daughter, "You okay?" Fitz asks Karen.

"I am hungry daddy but I am afraid," Karen says.

"Afraid of what? You are safe Princess," Fitz says.

"Mommy and Daddy are here," Mellie adds.

"I am scared if I eat I'll hurt my tummy boo-boo," Karen says.

"Daddy promises you, it will be okay. How about we get you something soft for now like mashed potatoes? How does that sound?" Karen shakes her head, liking that idea.

Mellie looks over at him, "Really," she says softly.

Fitz gets up from his chair, "Not here. Especially not here," he warns her. He looks at Karen, "Daddy is gonna go find you some mashed potatoes."

"Fitz," Mellie says.

He turns to her, "Yes."

"I am feeling really tired. Can you take me back to my room?," Mellie asks.

"I'll have the nurse come and get you. Daddy will be right back Princess," he answers as he goes out, totally surprising Mellie.

It's later on that night. Liv is sitting in the waiting area drifting in and out of sleep. Sonja came by and picked Rochelle up so she could keep her company. Fitz's mom decided she would stay with Gerry for the night and Fitz would stay with Karen. Mellie forced her parents to go home. Liv is startled awake by Fitz who sits next to her, kissing her.

"Wake up sleeping beauty," he says softly.

"Fitz," she smiles.

"This chair can't be comfortable."

Liv smiles, "It's not."

"I am going to bring you home and come back," Fitz suggests.

"You want me to leave," she says.

"Of course not. I wish you could stay but under the circumstances," he says regrettably.

"I am worried about you Fitz," she says truthfully.

"Don't worry about me. I am okay. I just have a lot of things to figure out."

"The kids are okay."

He smiles, "Yes they are. Karen is asleep. Even Though she insisted that she wasn't sleepy at all. I'm not sleepy daddy, she said."

Liv laughs, "She is going to be a firecracker." Fitz becomes distant. Liv shakes his thigh. He comes out of his momentary haze. "Are you here?" Liv asks.

"Yes, I'm right here," he answers, drawing Liv closer to him.

"Are you sure you are okay? Is there anything you need? You need me to do anything," Liv asks.

"No, I just need you to do what you are doing," Fitz answers.

"But I am not doing anything," Liv answers.

"You are here and I need that, more than you know," he says as he gives her a kiss.

"My heart was beating so fast when Abby told me. I couldn't get here fast enough," Liv admits.

Corinne is coming to see if Fitz was here with Liv. She stops when she hears them talking. They are the only two in the waiting area. She's never seen Fitz this content, this happy. She can see the woman he's holding in his arms is truly the one. She doesn't make her presence known.

"You surprised me today," he chuckles.

"How?" Liv asks incredulously.

"When told Mellie about your Fiance," Fitz winks.

Liv buries her head in her hand, "I am so sorry. I can't believe I did that. I shouldn't have said that. I should have anything but she..."

"I loved what you said. You put her on notice," Fitz smiles proudly. Corinne is eavesdropping and smiling.

"And she's going to make me pay for it, I am sure," Liv reminds him. "I just gave her more ammo."

"I am going to handle Mellie, don't you worry about that," Fitz says.

"Fitz," Liv sings. "I don't want you…"

He stops her with a kiss. A kiss that takes her breath away and wants him more. "I told you, I am handling Mellie. There is only one thing I want you to worry about."

Their foreheads are connected, "And what is that Mr. Grant?"

He kisses her again, catching her by surprise again. "When I'm going to get to do that again in a more private setting."

"Does that ever stop thinking?" she laughs, looking down toward his crotch.

"Not when it comes to you Ms. Pope." He smiles as he traces her face. And catching her and Corinne by surprise, Fitz does something he never does, he sings:

My love I'll never find the words my love

To tell you how I feel my love

Mere words could not explain….

God bless you..

You make me feel brand new

Liv is now wrecked. There are tears falling and she's trying to compose herself. "I didn't know you could sing. I didn't know you knew that song."

"Not really, I am still learning it. I'll have it mastered soon. One of the guys were playing in the shop one day, working on this project. I loved the words. It made me think of you. I can't sing but I can hold a note, just for you."

"Fitz," she says with her voice cracking with emotion.

"You do Livvie. I am alive again because of you. You make me feel brand new. No matter how bad things might get, I have you and that's all I need."

Corinne is crying and she decides to step away and let them have what's left of their privacy.

Liv doesn't like the sound of his ominous words, "Fitz you are scaring me."

"Things are going to get rough and I just need you to trust me that everything is going to be okay," Fitz says.

"I trust you. I know it seems like I have a hard time doing that but I do. I trust you with my heart and with my life," Liv says as she grabs his face, placing a kiss on his lips.

"And I trust you with mine," Fitz says as he returns the kiss.

Liv decides to surprise him:

Without you, life has no meaning or rhyme.

Like notes to a song out of time.

How can I repay?

You for having faith in me.

God bless you.

You make me feel brand new..

Fitz is mesmerized by this revelation of her singing. "The next time you are on top making me feel good, feel free to sing."

She slaps his chest, "Shameless."

Huck comes to pick Liv up and bring her home per Fitz's request. He also gives Fitz an envelope with new information. Fitz doesn't want any of his suspicions to be true but it's looking more and more like it is. He moves his shirt up his arm to get settled in his seat. He flashes back to earlier when he and Abby were alone for a minute.

"I need you to do me a favor," Fitz says.

"I'll do what I can," Abby answers.

"I need you to do a DNA swab," Fitz explains.

Abby looks confused. "Who am I swabbing?"

"Me," Fitz says.

"What?"

"I need you to swab me, Gerry and Karen," Fitz says.

Abby laughs at first until she realizes he's serious. "You aren't kidding."

"No, I am not kidding. I need you to do this and you have to be discreet. For now, you can't even tell Liv."

"Fitz what's going on?" Abby says.

"Let's just say I think I already know the answer. I just need the proof. I need my ex-wife to be completely in the dark to the fact that I'm no longer in the dark."

"Fitz, I'll do it but are you really prepared for the ramifications of this. You know what you are saying," Abby asks.

"Of course I know but I need to know," Fitz pleads.

"I'll do it. I'm not a fan of your wife for the obvious reason but I hope she didn't do this," Abby says as she is ready to leave.

"Thanks Abby! I owe you one," Fitz says.

Fitz comes out of the memory, staring at his sleeping daughter. In a few days Fitz's entire life and what he thought was his life might change. He will never be prepared for the ultimate betrayal that this would be. He kisses his daughter on the head and sits back in his chair.

And the truth is about to come out! What will that truth be?
