Lycanwing – Requiem of the Night Fury

Charcoal was quite sure that everything was his fault. He had made several breakthrough and research to end the war. Mind controlling humans through alpha dominance were one of them. Unfortunately, those inventions were used against him, mostly because he could not protect them against malicious parties. In this case, Furious.

The black dragon was flying through Helheim's Gate. Furious had completely blocked any mental communication in his mind. Everything was left untouched, thankfully. Charcoal was not quite sure what he was planning. His mind was logging everything that happened in his mind, and those were sent to Toothless' mindscape. At the very least, if Furious tampered with it, Toothless could know what happened and revert the damages.

While navigating around the place, Charcoal could not help but thought about something. "Why are you so interested in me?" He questioned the greater alpha. "Is it because I'm a Haddock?"

"You have a destiny, Charcoal." Furious purred in his mind. "I have foreseen what you would become. What you're meant to become. I altered your destiny to save us all."

"What do you mean foreseen?"

"Oh, Charcoal." The greater alpha hummed. "Night Furies can see into the future."

Charcoal hitched his breath. "Future?"

"Yes." Furious purred. "I have foreseen your destiny." His voice turned angry. "You're meant to die killed by humans. Dragons would die, enslaved by humans. Your death would signal the end of dragon age, where all of us would extinct into obscurity."

The black dragon swerved to dodge a rock pillar. He was extremely nervous as to what Furious was implying. The greater alpha continued speaking. "I will not allow it!" He snarled. "You have seen the memories of Hiccup the Second. You have seen what happened to your ancestors. I hoped for you to live a peaceful life in Hidden World, but what I see was far worse than what I hoped."

"… I wished to change that, for your own good." Furious darkly finished.

"Is that it?!" Charcoal snarled. "Revenge? You want to kill all humans?"

"It was the only way to survive, Charcoal." Furious purred. He sounded amused. "We've tried to make peace with them. Twice. Humans could never be reasoned with. They did not see us as their equal. They see us as animals."

"It's because we kept raiding them. They see us as animals because we kept attacking them." The black dragon responded. "Violence bred violence. The war kept going because we kept attacking them!"

"The humans started it!" Furious roared into his mind. "You think I don't know? You think we didn't try that? 700 years ago, my brother and I wanted peace for humans and dragon. We went to war for five decades because they saw him as mindless animal! Humans killed him and his mate!"

Charcoal did not know what to say. Furious continued speaking. "I started Dragon Rebellion to protect the dragons." He explained to him. "It was all I want from this."

"You made me preach those words." The black dragon realised.

Furious chuckled in his mind. "I don't even need to put anything else in your mind. It was all your own thought and action." He purred. "We're not that different, Charcoal. You wanted to end the war by controlling the humans. I wanted to wipe them from the face of the world. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

"I made those Programs because you lied to me! You put memories of your dead son in my mind!" Charcoal roared, angry at the implication. "I was Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, and you made me think Charcoal was all just a dream!"

"How else am I supposed to help you?" Furious retorted. "Your father lied to you. Wodensfang attacked you. Your village hated you. If I didn't know what you'd be destined for, I would take you away and turn you into full blooded dragon! I would've adopted you. I would've sent you to Caldera. I'll make you my son!"

"You're unhinged! You're delusional!" Charcoal mentally roared. He swerved to dodge another rocky pillar, before continued responding. "You're broken! You're unstable! Your son is dead 600 years ago!"

"I know what I did. I sacrificed the body and mind of my son for you." Furious was much calmer all sudden. "My son never truly lived the joy of his life. He was the strongest and feared dragon at his time. The first time I saw you transform; you were too small. Too weak. You can't even fly. Your father made you weak when he refused to awaken your blood 10 YEARS AGO! I knew I had to do something!"

"I…" Charcoal was horrified. "This body is your son?"

"Yes and no." Furious sounded annoyed. "Let me tell you something, Charcoal. Magic Alchemy is a field that not many minds knew about. They were shrouded with mystery, as most of their knowledge were lost in time. One of the fields was the art of soul modification."

Charcoal had heard of it. Furious continued speaking. "It was a deliberate kind of Magic Alchemy. It requires two compatible souls to become one. It was fortunate that your soul was compatible with my son. I had to make the decision to merge my son with you!"

"What…" Charcoal did not know what to say. "What is a soul? What am I then? Who am I to you?"

"You are Charcoal. Descendant of the legendary Primordial Alpha." Furious declared to him. Charcoal could see the Dragon Island from where he was. "The godlike dragon that once wiped out half the world with one plasma blast. You are descended from the gods. And you are destined to become one."

"And then…" Furious sounded somewhat sad. "You're my son. My dear beloved son. Mimir. I wish you could see that, Charcoal."

"I'm not your son!" Charcoal growled out. He finally realised how Furious wanted to accomplish that. "And I will not wipe humans from the world."

"But you will." Furious purred. "Not now or tomorrow, but soon. It was inevitable. The future was set the moment you became a Lycanwing. Since the beginning, you were destined to die."

"… but you will not. I will make sure of it." The greater alpha sounded determined. "I have altered your destiny. You will wipe them out, one way or another. Now, I'm simply preparing you for your ascension."

"You will judge them all." Furious whispered. "Even if I won't be there to see it."

Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut and Tuffnut were standing at the cliff. They were watching longships sailing away towards the Helheim's Gate. From where they stood, they could see Toothless inside a dragon cage. It seemed that they would be using a dragon to find the nest now.

"Why do they have to leave again?" Snotlout suddenly complained. "My dad wanted to give me a new hammer."

"I'd guess they're sailing to save Hiccup." Tuffnut suggested. "I think they'll find the nest this time. Dragons probably knew the way there."

"A- Astrid?" Fishlegs asked, getting her attention. He looked nervous and excited. "Is it time?"

Astrid smirked. "Yup!" She nodded, getting attention from the rest. "It's time to tame our own dragons!"

Gothi's hut was somewhat empty. There was a small pickaxe and a pile of amber at the corner. At the soft patient bed, there was Calian the Night Fury hatchling. The elder was tending him. The experience of being captured had scarred his mind.

Gothi was skinning some fish cod. While she was busy, Calian was shaking. He was traumatized over the experience from before. He had never been mentally attacked until now. It was something that he never experienced, and it scared him. His eyes slowly darted around the place, making sure that they did not change at any moment. He felt afraid of everything.

Gothi slowly walked back towards Calian. The hatchling jumped and instantly curled up on the bed. He pulled his tail onto him, afraid of losing his flight by loss of tailfins. The elder sat next to the dragon. She placed the plate of skinned, fresh cod in front of him. After that, she carefully caressed his back, feeling the smooth black scales of the hatchling.

Gothi's comforting gesture seemed to calm the hatchling. Calian slowly looked up to her, staring at her soft expression. The small Night Fury looked at the plate of skinned cod in front of him. He carefully took a bite. After he was sure that it was safe, he began eating the rest of the fish.

The elder was saddened. Whatever happened, the hatchling was traumatised. She hoped that Hiccup and Toothless come back soon. They most likely know more on what to do at this situation.

Toothless was quite sure that they were all going to die.

"Sound your positions." She heard Stoick spoke not far from her. "Stay within earshot."

The dragoness was inside the cage. She was meant to lead the Vikings to Dragon Island. There were a lot of longships sailing the Helheim's Gate. She had no choice but to lead them.

"Here." She heard one Viking spoke.

"One length to your stern."

"On your starboard flank."

Gobber approached Stoick, who was leading the ships. "Listen… Stoick…" He started. "I was overhearing some of the men just now and, well, some of them are wondering what it is we're up to here."

"Three widths to port." They heard another Viking called out.

The blacksmith somewhat retreated from the topic. "Not me of course. I know we're going there for Hiccup. You're the man with the plan."

"Ahead at your bow."

"Haven't a clue."

Gobber continued speaking. "But some, not me, are wondering if there is in fact a plan at all." He paused, before asking. "What it might be?"

"Save Hiccup." Stoick muttered. "Find the nest and take it."

"Ah. Of course. Send them running." Gobber muttered, looking away from him. "The old Viking fallback. Nice and simple."

Meanwhile, Toothless was busy trying to talk with her mate. The dragoness could enter his mind and locate him. However, communication was cut off. She could not even see his recent memories. Furious had done something. It stopped her from knowing what was going on!

The whole problem started because Charcoal had flown off to save Astrid – of all humans! Toothless should have known to check his mind after he finally became full blooded dragon. She should have seen the signs instead of leaving him like that. That cure did something to his mind, and it affected his thought.

Charcoal's mind was fractured. Parts of his Blocks were cracked. The human part of his mind was turning into dragon one. The sudden transformation of his human mind sent silent shock throughout parts of his mind. Toothless had never seen anything like it, but it did not take her long to realise what caused it.

It was surprising that Charcoal had some crush with Astrid in his early days – at least, when he was Hiccup. He immediately gotten over it after something terrible happened with her family, after she started treating him badly. That was when he was 7! Memories from long past were coming forth, and it was affecting him.

Thankfully, it was brief. His mind had adjusted itself with converted memories. Unfortunately, Charcoal was subconsciously going through each of them, since the conversion process was extremely sudden. It was affecting his thought process while this was happening. Toothless had to do something before he did something reckless.

The first thing was getting to the Dragon Island. Toothless had no choice but to cooperate with the Vikings. "Hiccup is at Dragon Island." She nervously spoke, getting their attention. "I can't contact him. We're close. Please…"

"Shhh." Stoick shushed them. He pushed Gobber to the side to walk forward. "Step aside."

Another Viking shouted. "Bear to port!"

Charcoal entered the Dragon Island. Strange enough, there was no dragon anywhere. The male black dragon went down into the volcano and landed right in front of Furious' lair. He was extremely nervous to face the giant dragon that would appear. He did note that there was a giant oval rock that seemed to be absorbing light not far from him.

Looking ahead, there was a smaller, bite sized rock that shimmered black. Charcoal was not sure what to make of it. He looked up into the cave and braced himself. He would be facing his supposed father soon. "I'm here."

Charcoal waited. However, instead of a giant eye, a male Night Fury walked out from the entrance. His eyes widened upon seeing him. The Night Fury looked old, extraordinarily so. His wings were tattered. There were fin-shaped appendages under his jaw, behind his legs, forehead and back. The scales around his appendages were bigger. Those were signs that this Night Fury was extremely old. In addition to that, the dragon was just as big and strong as him.

What caught his attention was his scales and eyes. The Night Fury had familiar yellow, slitted eyes. There was also that stab wound scar on his chest. The scales had tints of dark blue on them. It was then Charcoal realised who this dragon was. The true form of Furious. He seemed happy to see him. "Hello, Charcoal."

"You… you're not giant." Charcoal realised.

Suddenly, a giant yellow eye appeared from the massive cave way. Charcoal simply stared at it. "H- How did you…"

"Magic is quite versatile." Furious explained as he approached Charcoal. "You don't need to have one to benefit from them. Homunculus is a magic body. It's one of those things where anyone could control. Especially dragon with alpha dominance."

The greater alpha dragon pushed the small black rock towards him. "Eat it."

"No…" Charcoal took a step back, afraid.

Furious growled. His appendages began to glow blue as he took control of Charcoal. The younger dragon was compelled to eat it. He scooped it from the ground and gulped it down into his furnace. he waited for a few moments, waiting for the inevitable.

Something suddenly broke through in his body and mind. It shook him down to his very soul. It was something clawing for release – something that Furious did 4 years ago. It was finally released. Charcoal let out a growl as his breathing grew heavier. He felt himself changing.

Furious watched as Charcoal was growing once more. The younger dragon was growing bigger. When that was over, Furious had to look up to see the dragon. Charcoal was at least one and a half times bigger than him. The younger dragon shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts from that feeling.

"Look at you…" Furious purred as he approached him. The elder dragon rubbed his body against Charcoal. "Strong. Powerful. The world will bend to you soon…"

Charcoal took a deep breath. The feeling was intoxicating. Everything felt lighter and stronger. There was something else inside him – something that was new to him. He reached out to check, only to find something familiar. He had seen it before within Toothless. "Magic?"

"They say that Primordial Alpha was passed down from generation to generation." Furious whispered to his ears. Charcoal simply glanced at him. "They have Magic. It was a shame that we don't have the Dragon Stone. But that's okay. Only full-blooded Haddock could use them to true potential."

Charcoal moved away from him. He glared at the elder Night Fury. "What do you want with it?"

Furious looked at him with crazed look. "It could turn you and your mate into a Blank Fury." He whispered, giddy at himself. "Be the gods that you're meant to be. Wipe humans from the face of the world. Make us powerful – invulnerable. All will worship you as you rule the world of dragons!"

Charcoal was about to snap back a response when he realised something. His mind had gotten far more powerful than Furious. Even with alpha dominance, Charcoal could win. The younger dragon decided to try that approach. He stomped his paw and used everything he had to mentally destroy the bond. It worked, as Furious suddenly stumbled back, not expecting the bond to break.

"KRAAA!" Charcoal snarled as he charged to the elder dragon. He tackled him down and pinned him onto the ground. Furious scrambled, trying to release himself. Unfortunate for him, Charcoal was stronger and heavier than him. He could not lift someone that was metric tonnes heavier than him. At least, not without preparation.

Charcoal pressed his claws onto his throat. "I will kill you."

Furious stopped struggling. He simply laughed. "Harr- karr…" He stared at the angry black dragon on top of him. "My death is inevitable. Just as your destiny for godhood." He purred. He looked pleased with himself. "I've set the gears of destiny in motion. I have fulfilled my promise! No matter what future you choose, you could never change them. Destiny is immutable!"

Charcoal breached into his mind. Furious allowed the black dragon went through his memories. He searched to figure out what in the world was happening. The younger dragon found a lot of information. Furious had been planning this for five years. He had planned everything to happen. He planned Charcoal to achieve godhood to wipe all humans from the world. He foresighted Charcoal doing it.

It started five years ago. Furious found him confused and dazed inside his room at Haddock house. Charcoal was small, barely a fledgling size for his age. Furious took control of his mind and fly him to Dragon Island. He brought the dead body of his son and merged Mimir with him. That made him big and strong. From there, he trained his body. The rest was his own sweat and tears.

The memories given to him was what was left from his dead body. Furious had quite literally pulled Mimir's soul from the dead and merged them with him. That made Charcoal both Hiccup and Mimir. That made him one dragon, one mind, but two different set of memories. Furious was really his father, just as Stoick the Vast was his father.

Furious intentionally neglected his dragons, because he knew they would switch their allegiance to Charcoal. He empowered Charcoal because he knew he would make dragons submit. Furious wanted dragons to submit to Charcoal because he wanted him to rule over the archipelago. Toothless' arrival was merely a coincidence, but it fit with his future because he had set his destiny in motion.

"You planned this…" Charcoal breathed out, horrified.

"I'm doing this for you." Furious softly spoke to him.

"Why me?" The younger dragon growled. "You're powerful enough to do everything yourself! Why do you have to choose me?!"

"Because you're the descendant of my brother!" Furious snarled back at him. Then, he softened his voice. "Because you're my son. Don't think I don't care about you, Charcoal. I love you as a father, and skies forbid I won't do my best to make you powerful!"

"You condemned me for the worst." Charcoal whispered as he searched his mind. "You expected my family to die."

"It was a small price to pay for the future." Furious responded. "It was a choice that I have to make."

"That choice was never meant to be yours to begin with!" Charcoal roared as he clawed his chest. Blood splattered on the rocky ground, as the younger dragon wounded the elder dragon.

"KRAAAA!" Furious roared in pain. Blood dripped from his chest. The wound was deep. It sliced through his bones.

"You are the worst father I have ever met!" Charcoal roared to him. "I am ashamed to call you my father!"

"Hr- kr…" Furious let out a weak chuckle. "… I know." He whispered, staring at him. "That's why I'm doing this."

Suddenly, Furious kicked him away. Charcoal stumbled back and hit the giant pitch-black rock behind him. He tried to recover but found himself trapped. The younger dragon looked back. His wings were literally inside the rock. It was slowly absorbing him! He struggled to release himself, but no avail.

Furious slowly stood from the ground. "The Egg of Equivalent Exchange." He declared, carefully approaching him. "You cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something equal value must be lost."

Charcoal struggled, but it kept absorbing him. Furious continued speaking. "I spent years digging wealth for that egg." He spoke to the younger dragon. "It would be the ultimate power for you and your mate. In exchange of wealth, you will be given power."

"Don't you dare involve Toothless into this!" Charcoal snarled. Half of his body was being absorbed.

"I'm not the one to involve her." Furious purred. He winced at the wound on his chest. The elder dragon was bleeding. "You'll be the one to do it."

Charcoal realised that Furious had planned everything. He reached out for Toothless, but there was still interference. He had yet fully wiped Furious' influence from him. He did not have that much time to contact her. Toothless could still track him, which meant that he would be leading her into the egg.

"Let me tell you a story, Charcoal." Furious spoke, getting his attention. "Hiccup the Second was stubborn on making peace between humans and dragons. I helped his cause. We supported him. Dragons followed him. After all, he was the saint amongst us. No matter what they did, he would always help those in need."

"However, even with all the effort, the humans could never see past our fire and claws." Furious continued speaking, staring at the sinking black dragon. "You've seen what Hiccup the Second look like. After all, why should they listen to a half-dragon that doesn't even look human?"

Charcoal struggled a bit, before Furious continued speaking. "They hunted us." He darkly spoke. "They're greedy for his scales. They want to kill the dragon that could talk. My brother refused to kill them, but they're so eager to kill him for their greed!"

Furious growled as he came closer to him. "Then one day." He whispered at Charcoal. "They killed his mate. And then, they killed my brother. Those humans turned against us. They gave me this scar-" He gestured to the stab wound scar on his chest. "-just as I came to protect him from his own father."

"You should've died." Charcoal growled as he struggled.

"I should." Furious admitted. He looked sad. "I'm meant to be the one to die. My brother meant to live. I was there to save his son and daughter, because I knew that my brother would've wanted me to protect them."

Charcoal felt his paws being absorbed into the egg. "I guess that didn't extend to me then?!" He was sarcastic. "You're so sure on making me miserable with what you did!"

"It was for the greater good." Furious declared as he backed off from him. He winced from the wound. "The world is rotten, full of chaos and despair. There was never order, only chaos! Humans caused all of this!"

Furious focused closer to Charcoal. "They have no alpha to leash their mind." He whispered. "Their pride drove them to kill. Their greed drove them to take and steal. Their freewill became danger to everything in this world!"

"Which is why I set your destiny." Furious backed out. He looked at Charcoal with determined expression. "We must secure the existence of all dragons and the future for our hatchling!" He declared. "Humans should never have a place in our world!"

"You think dragons are better than humans?" Charcoal argued. His tail and wings had been fully absorbed. His upper body was next. "We're no different than humans. We have freewill. We can reason! We can do good and evil. We can do everything that humans can!"

"That's where you're wrong, Charcoal." Furious snarled at him. "You're a hypocrite if you say that we have freewill. We dragons never have freewill!"

"Yes we do!" Charcoal snarled.

"If we do, why do you have alpha dominance?"

It was then Charcoal realised what he was implying. The younger dragon fell silent upon realising it. Dragons with alpha dominance could control dragons, regardless of their mind and consent. They could shut down their mind and kill them from afar. There was no counter to this, unless the dragon themselves have alpha dominance.

Dragons never truly had freewill. The power of freewill was only held by those with alpha dominance. Freewill only available to selective few that had them. It was why Furious had given him alpha dominance. He had given him the power of freewill. Even without alpha dominance, freewill was only held by those at the top. Mind bond was designed for convenience at the cost of their freedom.

It was even worse when he thought about humans and animals. It was discovered that alpha dominance could control them as well. Those with alpha dominance had become the apex predator, simply because they could impose their will onto their mind. That put them at the very top of the food chain, far beyond humans and other dragons.

Furious relished at the fact that Charcoal finally understood. "You could make the perfect utopia for dragons. You could make everyone coexist and live peacefully in the world." He declared, wincing slightly. "Isn't this what you wanted? Peace? You could force that peace by making them not fight each other. This is what you're meant to do. This is what you should do with your power."

Charcoal was horrified at the suggestion. "No…" He whispered. He rarely used his alpha dominance during his duty, with certain exceptions for unruly dragons.

"Yes…" Furious purred. He leaned close to him. It was simply Charcoal's head and neck that was sticking out. "One day, you'll become a Blank Fury." His eyes became crazed. "And then, you will control all of us."

Suddenly, red cracks began appearing around the black rock. It did not look like it was about to break, since nothing else seemed to change. Furious was utterly confused to see it. "What is this? That wasn't supposed to happen!" the elder dragon looked at Charcoal. He noticed that he was wearing a saddle. "Leather and metal shouldn't change much. What did you do?!"

Charcoal blinked. He remembered the Mithril Coin inside his saddle pocket. It was a priceless thing, and it most likely had done something to the egg. The younger dragon let out a weak chuckle. "Hr- kr…"

Furious looked panicked. "It's overloading." He muttered, looking around the egg. "It's overcharging! It doesn't have limiter! I can't stop this! I didn't foresee this! It will change your destiny!"

"Do you want to know what I did?" Charcoal offered, getting his attention. It was only his head that remained.

"What did you do?!" Furious roared. His voice was hoarse from the wound.

Charcoal smirked. "I have a Mithril Coin in my pocket." He spoke, before completely absorbed into the egg.

The elder dragon simply stared at the egg. His eyes were wide, fearful at the outcome. "No…"

Back at Berk, the Monstrous Nightmare was let out from his dragon pen. He carefully stepped out into the dragon ring. Astrid, Snotlout and others were there. The shieldmaiden was unarmed, and she had her hand hovering over his snout.

"Easy now…" Astrid whispered, staring at the dragon. She slowly backed off, while the red dragon was walking forward to her.

"I guess this is a bit better." The Monstrous Nightmare rumbled.

Once Astrid reached the others, she grabbed Snotlout by his hand. "Wait!" The burly teen was extremely reluctant. "What are you-"

"Relax. It's okay… it's okay." The petite girl whispered as she raised his hand onto the dragon's snout. The hand hovered over the dragon. After some time, the red dragon closed his eyes and pressed his snout onto his hand.

The others breathed out relieved sigh. Snotlout let out a nervous smile. "Oh- hah…" He noticed that Astrid had went off running to elsewhere. "Wait, where are you going?!"

The petite girl had grabbed several ropes from the side. "You're going to need something to help you hold on."

There was a huff. The others looked to the side. The three other dragons were all out from the cages. The Deadly Nadder, Hideous Zippleback and Gronckle were staring at them, curious as to what they were going to do.

The Vikings had arrived at Dragon Island. They were setting up large catapults on the land. While the others were working, Stoick was watching the mountain. Gobber stood next to him. They finally arrived at the place.

"When we crack this mountain open." Stoick whispered. "All Hel is going to break loose."

"In my undies." Gobber piped in. "Good thing I brought extras."

Stoick glanced back at the ship. Toothless was still there. He placed his hand onto Gobber and leaned to him. "Listen." He whispered. "When the attack starts, I want you to release Toothless and let her find Hiccup."

Gobber nodded in understanding. "Aye." He whispered. "She'd sneak in and take him away."

The chief nodded. "No matter how it ends." He whispered. "It ends today."

Gobber turned around and ran towards the longship. There was nobody there. He jumped on top of it and reached for Toothless. "Don't worry, lass." He assured her. "We'll let you go once the fight went off."

"It's not the fight I'm afraid of." Toothless spoke, concerned. "I don't know what Furious did to Charcoal!"

Gobber did not understand the language. He misunderstood her concern. "Don't worry. You'll get your husband soon."

With Stoick, he noticed that the catapults were ready. Everything was set. With a nod from the crew, he raised his axe and pointed it at the mountain. "FIRE!"

The catapults flew right towards the mountain. It created holes into the sides. The place rumbled as something collapsed inside. After things calmed down, nothing happened. That made everyone nervous.

Furious was slowly losing his blood. He was dying in front of the egg.

The elder dragon had anticipated it. He would die at the claws of his own son. He was not expecting a slow death. That did not matter for him. It would all be over for him soon. He could feel dragons breaking their bond from his mind. His homunculus had pulled back. It would be serving the last order he had given him.

It was too late for him to change anything. Charcoal had singlehandedly altered his own destiny by having that Mithril Coin in his pocket. He would become far greater than what he had anticipated. His foresight stopped working. The future had become hazy, as if fate itself did not know what happened to it.

His plans were unravelling because of that Mithril Coin. Something had gone wrong. His foresight ability was shrouded. He never thought that was possible!

The elder dragon was laying down on the ground when he felt the ground shake. Furious let out a weak smile. The Vikings were there. The homunculus would be dealing with them soon. It was only matter of time until the egg was finished.

'Death is too kind for me.' Furious thought as he began to lose consciousness. 'I'm sorry, brother. I've promised. I hope you can forgive me.'

At the shore in Dragon Island, the ground began to shake. Vikings were not quite sure what was happening. Stoick was giving orders to the Vikings. "Form ranks! Form ranks!"

Gobber saw this as an opportunity. He released Toothless from the cage and pulled the muzzle off her snout. "There you go! Now go find Hiccup!"

Before Toothless could fly away, a massive, blue glowing claw suddenly appeared holding the side of the mountain. Another massive claw appeared at the other side. Something enormous was behind the mountain. Lightning crackled and blasted crackled across the sky. The clouds went dark as storm began to start. Everyone held their breath as they stare at the truly gigantic dragon that they had just awakened.

It started from the head. It was truly gigantic. It had a pair of yellow eyes and a long snout, like Monstrous Nightmare. Then, the body followed, revealing a titanic pair of wings and blue scales. The pose revealed that it was quadruped in nature. It raised its massive, long tail, revealing a pair of tailfins at the back. It was then Toothless realised what it was. That dragon was a truly massive Night Fury.

"Beard of Thor…" Toothless heard Gobber whispered. "What is that?"

Toothless had never seen a Night Fury that big. The head almost reached the clouds above. Its claws nearly enveloped the whole mountain, almost crushing them under its weight. It was absurdly titanic in proportion. Toothless was utterly terrified.

It was far bigger than a Bewilderbeast!

The enormous dragon let out a loud, chilling roar. "KRAAAAAAAA!"

The roar echoed throughout the island. The giant dragon spread its wings and took off into the air. It was extremely fast for its size. Lightning strikes sparked in the clouds. Few seconds later, they heard a loud, chilling shriek. Toothless grabbed Gobber and dashed out from the long ship. Not long after, a huge plasma blast went off right where they were.

BOOM!

With just one plasma blast, the entire column of ships exploded. The explosion threw everyone off their feet. Toothless collapsed as she held onto the man that released her. After that was done, she scrambled away from him. Stoick was running towards them.

"Odin, help us." Stoick breathed out. While running, he looked to the side. The dragon was massive and extremely fast. It was the worst possible situation for them. "CATAPULTS!"

Vikings moved to turn the catapults. However, they were too slow to turn. The enormous dragon fired another plasma blast. BOOM!

It completely obliterated the rows of Vikings in a gigantic explosion. There was nothing left at the aftermath. There was only smell of brimstone and dust remained, as well as the crater left from its wake. That made the Vikings panic.

While running towards Toothless, Stoick managed to grab the gaping Spitelout. "Lead the men to the far side of the island!" He ordered.

That snapped Spitelout from his shock. "Right!" He nodded, before turning around to face the remaining Vikings. "Everybody to the far side of the island!"

The others began running. Stoick finally reached Gobber and Toothless. "Gobber! Are ye okay?"

"Aye!" Gobber nodded, somewhat frantic. "Toothless pulled me out right before it blew up!"

Stoick looked at the black dragon. Toothless was nursing her wound. Some of the attack had burned her scales. "Is that the dragon?"

Toothless looked up to the chief. She was utterly terrified. She remembered the same yellow eyes that had stared her down at Furious' lair. "That's him! Furious!"

Stoick nearly cursed. "Get Hiccup out of here! GO!"

Toothless took off into the air. She ignored her injuries and quickly went towards Dragon Island. She needed to find Charcoal, and fast.

After Toothless left, Stoick helped Gobber stood from the ground. "Gobber, go with the men."

The blacksmith dusted himself. He adjusted the axe prosthetics on his arm. "I think I'll stay." He shrugged. "Just in case you're thinking of doing something crazy."

"I can buy them a few minutes if I give that thing someone to hunt." Stoick whispered.

Gobber straightened himself. "Then I can double that time."

The two Vikings stared at each other. They looked at the remaining weapon they could use. It was a large ballista. Stoick and Gobber looked at each other, before taking off running towards the stationary contraption.

Toothless arrived at Furious' lair. She landed at the balcony. The dragoness saw a giant black egg with red cracks on it. At the other side, she saw a wounded male Night Fury. That dragon was unconscious. The dragoness quickly rushed towards the Night Fury. She did not recognise him, but he was grievously wounded.

"Come on. Come on." Toothless muttered as she diagnosed him with magic. He was alive but unconscious. The blue tinted black dragon was losing blood. "Skies above, what happened to you?"

There was no response. She was not expecting one. Toothless pushed her magic as she closed the wound. While doing that, she felt the ground shake. The unknown Night Fury did not smell like an alpha. It was safe to assume that he probably knew what happened to Charcoal. After the wound was closed, she casted magic that increased his blood regeneration.

After the unknown dragon was stable enough, Toothless turned to look at the egg. She came close to it. It was humming something strange. She sensed someone inside. She reached for her bond with Charcoal. Her mate was inside!

"No…"

Toothless whipped around to look at the unknown dragon. Green eyes met the desperate yellow ones. That was when the dragoness recognised him from Charcoal's memories. "YOU!"

Furious was staring at her, pleading. "Get away…" He whispered. "Don't alter his destiny…"

"I should've killed you instead if I knew that was you!" Toothless snarled. She was angry at herself for healing Furious, of all dragons!

Suddenly, tendrils sprouted out from the egg. They latched onto Toothless and began dragging her in. "What the- let go of me!"

"No…" Furious tried to stand up, but he was too weak to do so. "Don't… Charcoal… you'll alter her destiny…"

"Furious, this is all your- MMPH!" Toothless could simply watch as she was absorbed into the egg. The last thing she saw was the terrified look of the elder dragon.

After Toothless was completely assimilated into the egg, the cracks disappeared, as if nothing ever happened to it. Furious limped his body. He was helpless to watch his plans going awry.

Toothless opened her eyes.

Everything was outline of black and white. She realised that she was resting at some sort of a rocky mountain. The dragoness slowly stood from the ground. She observed the sky above her. It was pitch black – nothing above her, not even stars or moon. It was the strangest environment she had ever been in. There was not even sound at all!

"Toothless!"

The dragoness turned around. She saw a familiar Night Fury running towards her. "Charcoal!"

The two dragons ran to each other. They tackled and pulled them into a hug. Toothless and Charcoal purred at the show of affection. They were relieved to see each other once more. "Hrr…"

"Mrr…" Toothless purred. She opened her eyes once more. Their eyes were the only ones with any colour. The acidic eyes met forest green ones. They were happy to embrace one another.

"I- I'm sorry, Toothless." Charcoal apologised. "I had to pull you into the egg."

"What?" Toothless said, incredulous. She pulled away from him. "What do you mean? You pulled me into this?"

"Yes." Charcoal nodded. He spread his wings a bit, as if gesturing to everything. "Apparently, this is what Furious call the Egg of Equivalent Exchange. I uh…" He sat on his hindlegs and scratched his head. "I think I ruined his plan by having something in my saddle."

Toothless simply stared at him. "Charcoal." She carefully started. "What exactly did Furious do?"

"I um…" Charcoal fumbled a bit. "I just cleared my mind from what Furious did when I was here. I tried to contact you, but I didn't get any response at all. Then, I realised my Programs are just frozen."

"Programs don't freeze." Toothless plainly responded. "You just get a headache until you turn it off or it knocked you out."

"Not if time itself was frozen." Charcoal added.

"Wait." The dragoness frowned. "You're telling me that time doesn't run here?"

"I figured that out the hard way. Yeah." The male dragon nodded.

Toothless wondered how far they had gotten themselves into. The whole situation was absurd from the start. The dragoness hoped that they made it out alive from the situation. She promised to skewer the black dragon responsible for this!

"Okay. How do we get out of here?"

"Before I tell you that, I want you to enter my mind and read my memories." Charcoal explained to her. "Especially the one that Furious told me."

"That dragon was right in front of the egg." Toothless growled, angry at herself. "Had I known it was him, I should've killed him!"

"What did you do?"

"I healed him!" Toothless whined. "I thought it was another wounded dragon!"

"Toothless. Focus." Charcoal soothed her, trying to calm her down. "Read my memories. You'll understand."

Toothless entered Charcoal's memories through their bond. She was not surprised to see that Charcoal had broken his bond with Furious by himself. The dragoness reached for the earliest memory. She saw her mate fighting and talking with Furious. Toothless sat on her hindlegs, resting herself as she learned what was going on.

It was just like before. Charcoal's mind was fractured. Toothless had no idea on how to fix this problem. She could only suppress them. However, it seemed Charcoal had done that himself, given the sheer numbers of tape seals on the cracks on the Blocks. It was ridiculous, but given the situation, that was a temporary solution at best.

"We're going to need to see mind healer after this." Toothless commented.

"I know."

The dragoness reached for his recent memories. Furious revealed that Night Furies could see into the future. That was something Toothless never thought possible. Then, Furious revealed that they were meant to become a Blank Fury. They were meant to rule the world…?

Toothless heard fictional stories more ridiculous than this. There were more things that she would be doing to Furious when they made it out of there. The thought of that elder dragon stroked her temper. "We can see into the future?"

"We can, at least when we're older." Charcoal admitted. "Apparently that's how most Night Furies fall."

"And we're…" Toothless breathed out, staring at him. "We're destined to…"

"Rule the world." Charcoal quietly finished her sentence. "Become gods of this world."

Toothless fell silent. The two dragons simply stared at each other. After some time, the dragoness broke the silence. "How do we confirm this?"

"I read Furious' mind, but I didn't get far." Charcoal admitted. "We need more information. You said he's alive, so we can start there once we made it out of here."

"But what does he mean by destiny being immutable?" Toothless was confused. "It's a concept. Is this something that Furious do to make sure that something will happen?"

"I don't know." Charcoal was frustrated as well. "We could get more information from Furious after we made it out of here."

Toothless shuddered her breath as she read more of his memories. "… Charcoal. This is huge."

"I figured as much."

"And you have a Mithril Coin? Really?" Toothless asked, incredulous.

"It was a gift from a scholar." Charcoal defended himself, rearing back a bit from her. "I didn't think about it that much. It doesn't have any value to me. Keep in mind that was around 4 years ago."

"Oh, skies above." Toothless cursed as she kept looking into his mind. "Foresight? Destiny? Magic? Really, Charcoal? You have magic now? As if you need to become more powerful?"

"This is what Furious wanted." Charcoal confessed to her. "This is what he wanted me to become. He had set my destiny. No matter what we do, it will happen."

The dragoness slumped her wings. "How are we going to get out of this one?"

Charcoal brightened. "I have a plan." He chirped. "But this will involve you."

Toothless focused more onto her mate. The male dragon continued speaking. "I got myself some documentation when I searched this place." He explained to her. "Equivalent Exchange; to obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That Mithril Coin is priceless. We can use it to change my destiny, but there's an excess value that needed to be spent."

"And this is where I come in." Toothless raised one of her brows. "You want to change my destiny too."

"I'm asking you if you want to change your destiny to something that you want." Charcoal simply responded. "Hopefully, that excess power should be spent. There should be a Program in your mind that's somehow there when you entered the place."

Toothless entered her own mind. She noticed that all her Programs were frozen. All except one. There was no name on it. The dragoness accessed the Program. It informed her of an extremely long value of number, and input as to what she wanted to spend all that value. There was documentation and catalogue on what she could get. "Is it really anything I wanted?"

"They tell you the price, and if it's enough, you can spend them." Charcoal responded. "I already have some in mind. I just need your opinion before I trade my value."

"Hrr…" Toothless hummed. "Do you have the same amount as mine?"

"Yours came from mine." Charcoal informed her. "I sliced mine in half for you."

"… okay." Toothless nodded, staring at her mate. "I can't believe I'm so calm about this. What do you want to spend it with?"

"It's from the catalogue at the Program. Destiny of Power. Parallel Library. Boundless Potential." Charcoal listed his own spending. "An upgrade on alpha dominance. Recoverable mind and psychology. Soul-bound body and mind. The rest is spent on my physical and senses."

"Okay, Charcoal. Stop." Toothless stopped him. She stared at her mate. "… have you ever thought about spending everything yourself to get out of here? Putting everything to… whatever it is?"

That made the male dragon blink. "I… never thought of that." He admitted.

"Harr…" Toothless felt guilt. She looked away from him. "It's my fault. I should've checked your mind after that cure." The dragoness confessed. "I thought I could stop looking into your mind since you trust me enough not to look into my mind. I didn't realise the cure was damaging your mind. You didn't even notice until now."

"Hey, it's not your fault. You couldn't foresee this." Charcoal softened his expression. He paused for a moment. "Not the whole future foresight thing, but you get what I mean."

"No, Charcoal. I…" Toothless exhaled. She slumped her wings. "… I felt like a terrible mate."

Charcoal was confused to see her like that. The dragoness continued speaking. "I'm not a dragon that can stay around while everyone is doing the work for me." Toothless admitted. "Before you came along, the last thing I expect was getting a life mate for myself."

They fell silent. Charcoal moved closer to her. "There's nothing wrong to change." He softly spoke to her. "No one's perfect. That's why we change when we made a mistake."

Toothless suddenly reared. "That's the thing! It's hard for me to change!" She exclaimed, staring at him with pleading expression. "It's just that I…"

The dragoness trailed off. She looked like she was searching the word for it. Charcoal leaned forward. "Yes?"

"… it's nothing." Toothless decided.

There was a pause. "… I don't know how to describe this." The dragoness admitted. "I guess I just… you're someone that every dragon could ever dream of. I want to be someone more for you – more than a dragon brood mother spending my life in a roost."

"Oh, Toothless…" Charcoal was saddened to hear that. He moved and wrapped his wings around her. "You don't have to change things you don't want to change. You're good just the way you are."

"And there's your mantra. I just can't relax myself." Toothless whispered. She leaned closer to him. "… I love you, Charcoal."

"I love you too, Toothless."

After some time, Toothless pulled back from him. "Let's get out of here." She decided. "I'll help you. Give me the full list."

Charcoal sent a Chunk filled with the list. The dragoness read the list. It had description on what they did as well. Destiny of power was the main course to change his destiny; it meant power over their own destiny. It meant power over their own future. That was self-explanatory.

Parallel library was simply a library in mindscape. It contained every information that ever existed in form of 'books', no matter what it was, even those beyond their world. Boundless potential meant that he could grow powerful as far as he could without stopping. They could train and practice as much as they wanted, and they would always become stronger. The rest was also self-explanatory.

Those were reassurance to ensure that they were not to be controlled once more. They had to become powerful to prevent another incident like that. They were good choices. "What is soul-bound body and mind?" Toothless questioned.

"It's a theory that I have. I wanted to prove it." Charcoal responded, thinking. "According to the documentation, soul describes our very self. It's an essence of life that makes living… lives. Mind and body are separate from them."

"Okay."

"When dragons die, they say that they get reincarnated. Our body and mind discarded and decayed, but our soul would simply move on." Charcoal explained to her. "If our body, mind and soul are bound together, it meant that we get to keep them when we got reincarnated."

"You spent a large value with a theory?" Toothless asked, incredulous.

"It's worth a try." Charcoal shrugged. "I mean, I got everything I need already. I'm just spending the rest of my values on experiments at this point."

"Is there a limit as to what can be exchanged?"

"You can't change reality itself." Charcoal firmly spoke. "You can only exchange them with yourself."

Toothless pondered for some time. She checked the catalogue herself. "… I think I'll get the same as you." The dragoness decided. "But I'm changing that Parallel Library and alpha dominance upgrade to something else."

"And that is?"

"Bond Equalizer and Soulmate." Toothless declared, staring at him. "If we're going to go through this together, I'll make sure that we'll through this together. Forever."

Charcoal was confused. "And what is Bond Equalizer?"

Toothless looked at him with pleased expression. "That made us equal in power." She declared. "What power you get, I will get them too. It goes both ways. If you're going to put me into submission, I want to make you submit too."

"Hrr…" Charcoal purred as he approached her. He wrapped his wings and pulled her into a hug. "… I can't wait for you to make me submit." He whispered into his ears. "I dream of you being the dominant one."

Toothless returned the hug. "I can't wait to get an upgrade on my alpha dominance." She whispered. "We'll be equals forever. With no power imbalance, we'll be perfect mates. With Soulmate, nothing could set us apart."

Charcoal pushed his Chunk into the Program. Toothless noticed this and did so for her own modified Chunk. They both saw the value went down to zero. The exchange had been done. the egg would do its work.

While waiting, something struck Toothless somewhat odd. "Charcoal." She asked, concerned. "Are you sure that this is not what Furious had been planning for us to do?"

Charcoal froze. That made him concerned as well. "We'd have power over our own destiny." He informed her. "He's alive, right? We can interrogate him to see what he planned for us."

"We should do that later." Toothless informed him. "When we get out of here, we have to fight."

That confused Charcoal. "What fight?"

Before Toothless could answer, there was a bright flash.

Furious watched as the egg did its work. It had been roughly five minutes since Toothless was absorbed. The egg began to crack, before finally exploded with bright light. The elder dragon used his wings to cover his body. Eggshell shrapnel went flying all over the place. They bounced off from his scales. After things calmed down, he pulled his wings back to see the result.

Charcoal and Toothless stood in front of him. They were equal in height and length. They were both physically strong, with Toothless being a bit leaner and feminine than Charcoal. However, what scared Furious was their size and power radiating from them. Charcoal was large – roughly two times bigger than him. Toothless was roughly the same size, only slightly smaller than her mate.

The two dragons stretched their body. Their senses were far sharper than before. Their body felt much lighter and faster. Their alpha dominance felt more potent. Their mate-consort bond had become soulmate bond – it could never be broken. For Charcoal, there was a soft green sphere floating in his mindscape, just right above his mind.

It was then they realised that the exchange had been done. It was successful with no side effect.

Furious could simply watch in horror as he saw them both. "Y- You're not supposed to choose." He whispered as he dragged himself away from them. "What did you do to yourself?!"

Toothless came forward and stomped her paws onto him. The dragoness pressed her paw onto his chest, crushing it under her weight. "Krr…" She growled as she leaned close onto him, baring her teeth.

"Ka…" Furious let out a pained whine. Toothless had broken his ribs.

Toothless smirked at him. "How does it feel to have your plans fall before you?" She asked as she spread her wings. She let loose of her alpha dominance power into him. Instead of the usual blue glow, there was a tint of gold on the colouring. "You think you can control our future? Think again!"

Furious gasped as Toothless slid into his mind. Her presence completely ignored his shield and mind protection. The dragoness reached for his mind and grasped it. She held onto something there and tore it apart from him.

Furious widened his eyes when she did that. The greater alpha suddenly lost all bonds he had in his mind. He felt himself unwillingly bonded with Toothless. She had somehow ripped alpha dominance from him. The former greater alpha felt himself in servitude of the dragon on top of him. He was compelled to obey her order. He lost his thought to defy her will. He did not have a thought to harm her or her mate.

"How do you like that?" Toothless snarled at the downed dragon. "Feels great being a slave, does it?!"

BOOM!

The whole place suddenly began to shake. It was then Toothless remembered. "Right!" She shouted as she turned around to face Charcoal. "The fight!"

"What exactly are we fighting against?" Charcoal asked. Toothless simply sent the memory of the giant Night Fury through their bond. The younger male dragon instantly paled. "Oh."

"I don't think we're strong enough to take it down." Toothless admitted, looking at herself. "We didn't exchange anything for short term things like this!"

"Can you check if Furious controlled the homunculus?" Charcoal asked, concerned. "It should be bonded with him like a dragon."

The dragoness entered Furious' mind. She noted that Furious no longer have any dragons bonded with him. She had broken all the bonds he had. "Oh no." She paled. "That's my fault! I broke all his bonds when I ripped his alpha dominance!"

Charcoal almost cursed. "Okay. Toothless, do everything you can to find out how to stop it." He spoke, before preparing for a flight. "Furious should know. Tell me everything through the bond."

"I'll join you when I found out a way to stop it." Toothless replied, before focusing back to Furious.

The younger black dragon nodded. He took off into the air, leaving Toothless alone mind interrogating the elder dragon.

Just as Toothless entered his mind, Furious let out a chuckle. "You took control of your own destiny… I can't believe it…" He whispered, staring at her with awe. His foresight had returned to normal, but anything about Toothless and Charcoal was hazy. Their future was unstable and everchanging. They had become shrouded in his foresight.

"Shut up!" Toothless snarled, before focusing back into his mind.

The dragoness was picking them apart. It revealed a lot of things that made her blood boil. Furious planned everything. He knew that Charcoal would be cured. He knew of his mental instability. He knew that Charcoal would go and save Astrid. Certain parts were simply his prediction, and everything had gone according to his plan.

Until it was ruined when Charcoal had a Mithril Coin in his saddle pocket.

Toothless was living up her enemy's name. She was furious, extremely so. The dragoness pressed her claws into his neck. That made him whine. "Ka…"

"You're going to be nothing but a drone dragon when I'm done with you." Toothless growled, baring her teeth. "I'll show you how much I learned from my father."

Furious let out a coarse laugh. "Harr…" He stared at her. "There's nothing you can do. I have done my part. Everything is in motion."

Toothless felt vindictive. She reached for his mind and enveloped her presence within him. Furious was confused to feel that. There were hints of magic involved. That went deep into his mind, seeping into his very mind and body. The magic was going deeper – heading right into his soul – his very self. He never thought that was possible.

"What is this?" Furious started, fearful. "What are you doing?"

"When my father taught me this, he told me to never use this to anyone." Toothless started, glaring at him. "When I learned magic, I swore to never use this to anyone."

Furious stared at her with fearful expression. The large black dragon bared her teeth. She was obviously angry. "You did this. You forced us through this." The dragoness whispered. "They say there are fate worse than death. Let's see if it's true, hmm?"

Suddenly, Furious felt her presence seizing his mind. Not long after, everything went white.

Stoick was sure that it would be the end of them.

The chief and the blacksmith had been firing massive ballista at the fast flying, enormous dragon. It was flying too fast for them to hit. Thankfully, all the dragon did was simply dive bombing the ships. The Vikings had all evacuated from the area. They needed to stop the dragon before it destroyed all their ships!

They fired a ballista at the diving dragon. This time, it hit something. The iron ballista arrow struck and pierced through one of its tailfins. The giant dragon let out a pained screech, before crashing onto the water. It created a giant shockwave, which threw everyone on their feet. After that was done, everything went still.

"HAH!" Gobber cheered. "WE'VE DONE IT!"

Unfortunately, that was an early celebration. The giant dragon rose from the water. It stood on its four paws, glaring at them. "KRRR…"

"Uh-oh." Gobber paled.

Stoick jumped off from the ballista and pulled his best friend. "MOVE!"

The giant dragon reared back and breathed large plasma fire. It struck the ballista, instantly burning them into ashes. Stoick and Gobber were lucky to move out of the way. They ran to the mountain and reached a cave entrance. The two men entered the cave way, hiding from the dragon.

Stoick and Gobber peeked out from the cave entrance. After burning down the ballista, the giant dragon began trashing around. "KRAAAAAAA!" It roared as it began destroying everything on its path. It fired a plasma blast onto the mountain, blowing parts of it into pieces. The dragon had gone berserk!

"Magni's manly tits!" Gobber cursed, paled upon seeing the destruction. "At least it didn't know where the Vikings went. How are we gonna fight that?!"

Stoick pondered for a plan. He noticed that there was still one large ballista functional at the beach. There was a cloth at the tip, meaning that it had been dipped into oil. It was meant to burn. However, they had no fire source. Dragons were not fireproof on the inside, and they could take out their shots if they ignited the gas in their furnace.

"E- Excuse me…"

Stoick blinked. He turned around. There was an extremely nervous and reluctant looking female Terrible Terror close to them. She looked very shy. He realised that the small dragon was trapped there with them. Looking ahead, the end of that cave path was a dead end.

"C- Can you move over, please?" The Terrible Terror nervously pleaded. "I- I didn't get the announcement to evacuate the island… I- umm… I fell asleep…"

"Snotlout, move it!"

Stoick focused back to look outside the cave way. He could only watch as the teens entered the battlement at the back of their own dragons. Astrid was riding a Deadly Nadder. Snotlout rode a Monstrous Nightmare. Fishlegs sat on the back of a Gronckle. Tuffnut and Ruffnut rode on Hideous Zippleback on each of their heads.

"Ruff, Tuff, watch your backs!" Astrid ordered, before turning to look at Fishlegs. "Move, Fishlegs!"

The giant dragon glared at the newcomer. It reared and let out a loud, challenging roar. "KRAAAA!"

"Och, ah dinnae wantae rammy thing!" The Gronckle nervously spoke as she kept up with the others.

"L- Let's go Meatlug." Fishlegs nervously spoke to his dragon.

"LOOK AT US!" Tuffnut shouted to the Vikings below. "WE'RE ON A DRAGON! WE'RE ON DRAGONS! ALL OF US!"

"Let's go, Stormfly." Astrid spoke as she noticed the giant, angry dragon. "Up, let's move it!"

Down below, Stoick heard Gobber laughing. "Every bit the boar-headed, stubborn Viking they ever were!"

Up above, the petite girl looked at the large boy. "Fishlegs, break it down!"

"Okay! Uh…" Fishlegs fumbled a bit, observing the giant dragon. "Huge claws. Large wings. Stay clear of both! Large eyes. Sleek body. It's meant to move and fly really fast!"

The giant Night Fury reared back its claws and swiped towards them. Their dragons barely dodged the swipe. One of the claws scratched the Gronckle. "Whoa!"

"GRAAA!" Meatlug the Gronckle roared in pain. She began spinning around and losing altitude. "IT GOT ME! IT GOT ME! AH KNEW THIS HUMAN WILL GIT ME MURDURRED!"

"I've lost power on the Gronckle!" Fishlegs shouted, before looking up. "ASTRID, DO SOMETHING!"

"Spread out!" Astrid shouted. "Don't make it easier for it to hit us!"

The dragons began spreading out from the place. Unfortunate for Fishlegs, Meatlug rolled at her fall. The large boy fell face first onto the ground. After he fell, Fishlegs raised his hand. "I'm okay!"

Then, Meatlug fell onto him.

"Less okay…" She heard Fishlegs mumbled under her.

"Sorry."

The giant dragon reared back and let out a loud, deafening roar. "KRAAAA!" It roared as lightning sparked around it. The ocean was electrocuted, and everything there died from the shock. When that ended, thousands of fishes and sea-dwelling dragons floated up to the surface. They were obviously dead from the shock.

"It's like a Skrill!" Astrid shouted, terrified.

"Don't worry, babe!" Snotlout shouted as his Monstrous Nightmare dove after the giant dragon. "I got this! Faster, Hookfang! Right for the eye!"

Hookfang the Monstrous Nightmare dove and sprayed liquid fire towards the giant dragon's yellow eyes. Before the fire reached it, the giant Night Fury moved to the side and used its wings to smack them away. It was so fast; they did not see it move. "AAH!"

"TOO FAST! TOO FAST!" Hookfang roared as he tried to stabilize his flight. They were thrown away into Helheim's Gate. "This is Night Fury all over again!"

Green gas suddenly enveloped the giant dragon's head. After some time, it sparked, creating a large explosion. BOOM! That created a large plume of smoke around it. Not long after, a Hideous Zippleback went out through the smoke.

"Haha! Yeah!" Ruffnut and Tuffnut gave themselves a high-five. "Great job Barf!"

"You mean Belch." Tuffnut suggested.

"Barf and Belch!" Ruffnut exclaimed. "One head each!"

One of the Hideous Zippleback head looked at the other. "Barf and Belch?"

"Our new adult names!" The other head exclaimed, happy at the outcome. "One each of our heads!"

The smoke finally cleared, revealing the stunned giant dragon. It did not look amused. The giant Night Fury let out a growl, before taking off into the sky. "KRAA!"

The giant dragon completely disappeared into the clouds. Barf and Belch could hear angry snarls in the sky. "Oh no."

"That's not good." Barf nodded, agreeing with the other head.

Suddenly, a plasma blast came out of nowhere. It nearly struck the Hideous Zippleback. The attack went down into the ground and exploded.

BOOM!

The explosion blew chunks of dirt and sand, sending them all over the place. After things cleared up, it revealed a massive crater where it hit. The Vikings and dragons paled upon seeing it. "Okay, let's consider Astrid's plan first before following her next time." Tuffnut suggested his sister.

"Aye. Not a bad idea." Ruffnut numbly nodded, staring at the crater.

The Hideous Zippleback heard another screech. "Another one coming!" Barf shouted. "Smoke screen!"

"Smoke screen!" Belch shouted.

One of the heads began spraying green smoke around them. After it created a large green fog, it flew down under it and vanished from the place. Another huge plasma blast appeared and struck the fog. Instead of going through them, it detonated right at the green fog.

BOOM!

Massive explosion in the air. The shockwave destabilized the Hideous Zippleback, sending it down onto the ground. "Hang on!"

They crashed onto the ground, somewhat close to the cave where Gobber and Stoick were hiding. "Oof!"

Tuffnut looked up from where they fell. He saw the chief and the blacksmith at the cave entrance. "Hi chief!"

They heard loud, chilling shriek. The giant Night Fury was diving right towards them. Stoick pulled Gobber and the nervous Terrible Terror deeper into the cave path. "GET DOWN!"

A plasma blast appeared from the sky, down towards the Hideous Zippleback and the twins. Before it reached the target, another plasma blast appeared and intercepted it. That detonated the attack.

BOOM!

It exploded in the air. The shockwave knocked everyone off their feet. After things calmed down, they went to see what happened. The two adults moved to look out from the cave entrance. Stoick widened his eyes upon seeing them. "HICCUP!"

Charcoal was standing in front of the dragons and the twins. His body was arcing with blue electricity. The black dragon was definitely bigger and stronger than before. They wondered what happened to him when he was kidnapped. It was not the time to think about that however, considering they had a titanic dragon to think about.

The black dragon looked up into the sky. He let out a loud, deafening roar of challenge. "KRAAAAAA!"

There was no response, but Charcoal did not wait for one. He jumped up into the sky before turning into lightning. The black dragon entered the clouds through lightning, as if he was a Skrill.

After rematerializing in the clouds, Charcoal boosted his flight with his electric charge. In just a few seconds, he entered supersonic. He could sense where the Night Fury homunculus was. The black dragon was following it from behind.

"Okay, I think I got something." Charcoal heard Toothless spoke in his mind. "That dragon has no blind spot. It got eyes at the back of its head. You can't sneak up on it. It's extremely fast. Regular plasma blast won't go through its scales. It's based off a Night Fury, and it can heal itself with magic. Once they lost bond from its master, its mind just locks up."

"Any ideas to take it out?" Charcoal asked while tracking the giant dragon.

"Our plasma blast won't do anything. We need to destabilise the body. The more unstable they get, the weaker they become." Toothless suggested. "You need to ground it first. After that, you can cloak yourself and find a way to make it feel pain."

"Great! A dragon that can't feel pain!" Charcoal sarcastically responded. "And I thought we're facing a dragon that's been stabbed in the chest."

The black dragon could feel his mate rolling her eyes. "Cut its limbs to destabilise it; but if you took too long, it could recover. I suggest taking out both its wings. That should destabilise the body long enough for you to kill it."

"Good idea." Charcoal responded, accelerating himself. He did not understand what it meant but went through it anyway. "Let's see if this works."

The black dragon barely spotted the giant dragon in front of him. He noticed that there was an iron ballista shot sticking out in one of its tail fins. It was stuck deep at the upper base of its right tailfin. Charcoal thought of an idea. He formulated one, before deciding that it was good.

Lightning crackled on his black scales. Not long after that, a thunder struck his body. Instead of being wounded, he exploded into sparks of electric charges. Charcoal had turned himself invisible by charging his scales.

The giant dragon had not noticed this. That was fortunate for Charcoal. The invisible black dragon sped himself up and reached for the ballista bolt. He latched onto it. Charcoal looked up to see where the giant dragon was heading. It was diving down towards another target.

Deciding that was the opportunity, he put himself to face the front. He let loose some electric charges into the ballista bolt, which made it vibrate. Once the preparation was done, he firmly held onto the ballista and snapped his wings open as wide as possible.

The wind blew his wings back like a kite, and that instantly pulled him back. The combination of momentum and vibrating ballista bolt literally sheared the massive tailfin clean off from the giant dragon. After that was done, Charcoal let go of the iron ballista. He reasserted his invisibility, before disappearing into the sky once more.

The giant dragon felt the tail fin ripped off from him. "KRAAAA!" It let out pained roar, before crashing headfirst into the ground. It landed not far from its intended target, which was the previously downed Hideous Zippleback. The crash destroyed a large chunk of the beach. After things settled, the giant Night Fury stayed still.

"That did it?" Charcoal asked her mate, staring at the downed monstrous dragon.

It took Toothless some time to respond. "Not yet. You grounded it at least."

The giant Night Fury stood from the ground. It shook its head to clear them from debris. The giant dragon pulled his tail to check. Its eyes widened upon seeing the missing right tailfin. Charcoal had successfully grounded it.

The homunculus was angry for what happened to it. The giant dragon reared up to the sky and let out a loud, angry roar. "KRAAAAA!"

Up in the sky, Charcoal was diving down onto the Night Fury homunculus. He charged up a combination of electric plasma blast. Loud, piercing shriek resounded as the black dragon dove and let loose the attack. After that, he quickly pulled up and disappeared into the clouds. He reasserted his invisibility, making sure that the giant dragon could not see him.

BOOM!

It created the intended effect. Large explosion combined with sparks of lightning. That blew right onto its wings, cutting the bottom side of it. The giant homunculus let out an angry, pained roar. "KRAAAAA!"

"Okay! Good! It's destabilising!" Toothless informed him. "Do it again for the other wing. That should destabilize the magical construct!"

"Did you get that from Furious?" Charcoal questioned. He did not understand what she was saying.

"Yes. I'm a bit busy with him here." Toothless responded. She sounded oddly happy for some reason. "I'll keep searching his mind to help you defeat that thing."

"What in the skies are you doing to him?"

"Something he really deserves." Toothless replied. "I'm making this permanent with alpha dominance."

"Okay. I'll leave you to that. We need him alive for information." Charcoal replied to that response. He looped around before diving down once more. He tilted his base fins, making sure to not make the screeching sound. He charged another electric plasma blast and fired at the other wing.

BOOM!

"KRAAAA!" The giant Night Fury roared. The electric plasma blast struck the wing. This time, it completely blew that one off from the base. The wing fell and crashed onto the ground. It limped as it was cut from its owner. The giant homunculus was angry. Its eyes were darting around, looking for the dragon that blew its body parts. It was confused and dazed from the attack.

Charcoal noted that the wing was blown off from the body. "I didn't think I made it that powerful."

"You didn't! The homunculus became weaker the more you take out its limbs!" Toothless excitedly informed him. "It's trying to stabilize itself. Quick! Kill it before it recovers! Hit the head!"

The black dragon snapped his wings and dove down onto its head. He charged a plasma blast, ready to blow its head off. However, seconds before he did that, he saw something unexpected.

Astrid and her Deadly Nadder came into view. She jumped off her dragon and landed right on top of the giant dragon's head. She raised her axe and began swiping it. "AAAAH!" She shouted as she slashed the blue scales with her axe. It made the dragon bleed, but that was not enough. "DIE YOU DRAGON DUNG!"

Because Astrid was on top of the giant dragon, Charcoal could not fire without killing her as well. The black dragon instead fired higher, striking the back of the giant dragon.

BOOM!

"Charcoal, what are you doing?!" Toothless roared upon seeing that through his eyes. The explosion rocked the place but did not do much damage. It did, however, did something strange. The blue scales were melting, revealing the flesh underneath. That was a sign of an unstable homunculus.

The giant dragon swung its head to the side, throwing Astrid away. It noticed the flickering figure of Charcoal and swiped its claws at him. The black dragon barely dodged that. Despite being unstable, the homunculus was still extremely fast on its movement.

"She was on the way!" Charcoal cursed himself, trying to reassert his invisibility.

"You should've just shoot anyway." Toothless retorted. "Her life is worthless compared to everyone here!"

Charcoal sensed a giant plasma blast coming for him. He could not dodge them in time! The black dragon used his lightning to quickly change his location. That made the attack miss, but it left him completely visible. Charcoal could only watch as the giant dragon spotted him amongst the clouds. It let loose an electric spark, before a massive charge went and struck the black dragon.

The lightning struck the black dragon. Charcoal felt his nerves lit on fire. The electric charge was far beyond his current. As a result, that electrocuted him. "KRAAAAA!"

"CHARCOAL!"

Down below, Stoick and Gobber were running to the large ballista. The chief was carrying the shy Terrible Terror. "This way!"

Gobber quickly mounted onto the control. He moved the ballista to aim at the giant dragon. It was currently electrocuting Charcoal, and it was building a large plasma blast in its maw. Stoick pointed the Terrible Terror at the clothed tip. "Burn it."

The Terrible Terror fired a small fireball at the tip. It lit the ballista bolt on fire. After that was done, the chief looked at Gobber. "Aim for the mouth."

Gobber aimed the large ballista right at the maw.

"FIRE!"

Then, the blacksmith pulled the lever.

The large burning ballista bolt went off flying right towards the monstrous dragon. It struck true into its mouth, prematurely igniting its flames. The ballista did not stop there. It went through its throat and embedded itself there. The premature ignition of its gas made it snap close its mouth. That stunned it long enough to stop its electric shock, releasing Charcoal from its hold.

The black dragon fell from the sky. It was obvious that the lightning had taken him down. Just as that happened, the throat and chest of the giant dragon exploded.

BOOM!

Chunks of flesh and bones went flying all over the place. The body was weakened enough that it could not sustain premature ignition on its body. Despite having flesh quite literally visible on the body, the homunculus was still alive and moving. They simply blew off its throat. Because it could not roar or use fire, the dragon began trashing around the place, expressing the pain.

Gobber quickly jumped off the ballista. They ran back towards the cave entrance. "That thing is still alive?!"

"We need to get out before it comes here!" Stoick shouted. Then, he saw something black falling out from the sky. "HICCUP!"

Suddenly, massive, glowing golden chains sprung up from the ground. They looked magical in nature. They wrapped themselves around the giant mutilated dragon, immobilizing it. Despite being restrained and wounded, it was still struggling. The golden chain began to break, as the giant dragon stressed them with its strength.

Stoick then heard a loud, piercing shriek. Looking up, he saw a black dragon with golden aura trailing behind her. "Toothless." He realised.

"KRAAAAAA!" Toothless snarled as she charged everything that she had: lightning, magic and fire. The dragoness flew straight towards the struggling mutilated dragon. After she was close enough, the dragon sorceress let loose of everything she had.

It created a massive ultraviolet beam of destruction. Everyone covered their eyes as it shined like the second sun. the giant mutilated Night Fury put up for some time, before finally disintegrating under her might. After that was done, there was a massive explosion.

Then, everything went white.

BOOOOM!

"Chief? Stoick, you okay?"

"Ah…" Stoick blinked his eyes. He stared up at the concerned expression of his second-in-command. "Spitelout?"

The man offered his hand. Stoick accepted it and stood from the ground. They were still at the Dragon Island. Looking around the place, most of the fogs were gone. They could navigate themselves out from Dragon Island with a ship. The chief noticed that the Vikings were tending the wounded. It was somewhat bright in the sky.

Looking to the side, Stoick noticed that Astrid and the others were talking to the Vikings. They were showing off the dragon friends that they had made. He looked down to see the certain Terrible Terror huddled up at his chest, hiding under his fur cloak. She was scared over everything that happened.

Stoick looked back to Spitelout. "What happened?"

"See it for yer self." Spitelout spoke, gesturing to something behind him. The chief turned around to see what he was talking about.

It was the massive Night Fury from before. Except, it was obviously dead. There was a giant gaping hole that went from the neck down to the rear. The head was completely gone. Blue scales were sliding off from the body, revealing the flesh underneath. The giant blue dragon was somehow melting by itself, and it smelled like rotting meat. That was strange and disgusting to see.

"We did it, chief!" Stoick glanced to the side. Gobber was approaching him. "We killed the dragon! We blew off its neck and others finished it off!"

Stoick felt utter relief. It was over. However, that reminded him of something. "Where's Hiccup?"

"CHARCOAL!"

Stoick looked up to the sky. Toothless was flying frantically around the water and rocks. She was looking for something. The chief feared the worst. "Oh… Thor almighty…"

"Stoick?" Gobber noticed that the chief began to tear up. "Ye okay?"

Stoick looked at his best friend. "She's looking for Hiccup."

Toothless was frantic. She could not sense Charcoal through her bond. The dragoness feared the worst.

"CHARCOAL!" She roared, looking around the water. "WHERE ARE YOU?!"

She flew around some more. The dragoness spotted something near the tail of the giant dead dragon. It was a floating body of a black dragon. "No…"

Toothless rushed to the floating body. She identified it as a Night Fury. "No please…" The dragoness grabbed the tail with her maw and dragged it out from the ocean. It took her some time to do so, as they were somewhat far from the shore.

The dragon sorceress pulled it onto the shore. She identified the body as Charcoal. Toothless moved closer to his head. He was not breathing.

The dragoness hitched her breath. She reared back, shocked by the revelation. "No…" She whispered, slowly growing angry. "No… No, No! NO! NO!"

"Skies above, why did you took him from me?!" Toothless let out a grieving wail. "Damn you, dad! Damn you, Furious! FUCK ALL OF YOU TO HEL!"

Toothless collapsed into heap of sobbing mess. "Harr…" She sobbed. "Why, Charcoal… why…"

The Vikings simply watched. Stoick came forward and dropped to his knees. He could only stare at the dead body of his son. The worst fear had come to him. Charcoal was strong, extraordinarily so. When everything seemed lost, he had faced against the odds and fought that giant dragon. He died fighting that dragon.

Behind them, Astrid and others simply stared at the grieving father and dragon. They were emotionless, not expressing anything. They were not quite sure what to feel, considering they had been tormenting Hiccup for roughly a decade. They decided that it was for the best.

They did have their own motives, after all.

Author Note

Charcoal is dead?!
If Charcoal is dead, I wouldn't be planning for sequels now, do I?

Why is Furious so focused with Charcoal?
In Chapter 1, Furious merged Hiccup with his dead son; Mimir. What he said so far is the truth. The first time Furious found him, he was small and weak. That led him to merge his dead son with him.

Furious did saw his late son in him. After the merge, he considered Charcoal to be his son. He wanted Charcoal to replace Mimir. He wanted Charcoal to be Mimir. It was the longing wish of a father. He wanted his son back, and he had taken the chance to do so.

As a result, Hiccup and Mimir became one and 'rebirthed' into Charcoal. Charcoal is their adult name. They are the same dragon in one mind, soul and body. Furious is just as much as his father as Stoick the Vast. Furious had gotten his wish; his son to come back to life. However, Charcoal was not the same Mimir that he expected him to be. It was a merge between Mimir and Hiccup. They were diluted.

His next wish was for genocide of all humankind. He wanted Charcoal to do it, solely because he is his son. He wanted Mimir to get revenge. As you can see, that didn't really go quite as planned.

Furious was expected to die killed by Charcoal. He had foreseen it. But that did not happen. It was then Furious realised that he screwed up. He was messing with things he's not supposed to mess with, and as a result, the future he saw were far beyond what he had expected them to be.

Should Furious be happy about it?
Telling this would be spoiler for the next chapter.

If Furious can see the future, doesn't that mean he knew this would happen?
Telling this would be spoiler for the next chapter.

What does it mean by destiny?
Telling this would be spoiler for the next chapter.

What did Toothless do to Furious?
Telling this would be spoiler for the next chapter.

Furious is alive?
Originally, he's meant to die. That's why he went all out on his madness. But then I realised that there are things worse than death. It's going to be revealed next chapter.

The Night Fury homunculus was gigantic.
You're going to see a lot of similar stuff for different enemies. Normal dragons are normal. Normal ones just wanted to live their life. The extraordinary ones would be interested in Charcoal.

Some of you may ask why Furious had not become the Arch Alpha after obtaining the homunculus and alpha dominance. Simply put; Wodensfang is far too powerful. There are dragons immune to alpha dominance or other sorts of anomalous mind things. Wodensfang is one of them. Alpha dominance and homunculus alone are not enough to defeat Wodensfang.

After all, it takes a lot to become a Greater Alpha dragon. Furious is not a special case. Primordial Alpha is considered a literal God of Dragons. How much do you think it takes to become an Arch Alpha?

Wait, but then, how did Toothless sneaked into Wodensfang's mind?
Wodensfang can see into the future. You think he doesn't have anything to do with that?
