"Stand up and walk. Keep moving forward. You've got two good legs. So get up and use them. You're strong enough to make your own path." - Edward Elric
It was simple yet effective. Why not combine all three forms of combat you had been taught. While sure the breathing style was more about swords, but he could make new moves for a staff studying Aikido, Bojutsu, Kung Fu, Ninjutsu, as well as Shaolin Monks. There was more than enough martial arts to make up for the lack of existing moves. Or he could also study them on his own and create his own moves. 'What if I make something hero based, that can be adapted for different weapons? A breath of the Hero. A style just for me, as master Ed wanted. I could use different weapons for different breaths, making a transforming weapon.'
With this, the next month was studying how fighters throughout time used a staff. A launching point, a swung object, a piercing rod. All of these were true. The best part about choosing a staff first, it was simple to picture. The books he had read that had anything to conjuring said that making his summon a major part of his life, to the point of making it a part of him, was very important. He started to try to use a lightweight titanium steel rod, made via alchemy, in his everyday life. He played with the balance of materials till he had something he liked and began to train. When he wasn't training he was also training. Even in his sleep. In order to be completely used to the pole, he would sleep with it.
Once his mom joked that he could pole dance with it, too embarrassed to tell her that was part of his training. While it wasn't real pole dancing, he moved around on it while balancing the weight to keep it up right. Then it came time to enter his information for the U.A Entrance Exam.
Name: Izuku Midoryia
Age: 15
Birthplace: Shizuoka Prefecture
It was then the next line that got to him. He looked at the word, Quirk: with discontent. He stared at it for about an hour before he wrote something.
Quirk: Hard Ass Training.
Required equipment: A singular titanium-steel alloy bo staff of my own design. Will be brought along with approval of the teaching and administration staff.
Then it was time to enter things like medical records and other important information. It felt like filling out an application for a high end company. Izuku sighed as he looked at the clock finishing around midnight. His eyes flickered as he started to talk to himself, "I wonder where master is and what he's doing. I wonder if I'll even ever see him again."
Elsewhere, a dark and evil spirit hovered over said man. "YES YES! TEACH HIM teach him. Teach him alchemy and breathing. Make a form just for him! YESSSSSSS." It whispered in his ear, to which he just stuck a finger in it.
"Yeah yeah, I heard you. Just calm down and be quiet." The older man knocked on the door at which point there was then a sharp and serrated blade held to his throat. "Really dude. For someone all about honor, you really gonna kill an old man. Especially since he came to help?"
"Who are you talking to?" The voice hissed out.
"The annoying ass god that put me in this shit hole of a world. If you take me out, one of two things will happen. He will heal me and not let me die, just to train you, or I will just be reborn elsewhere." The old man reached up and scratched his head at a high speed. To the point where the man didn't see him do it.
"You talk to god? What has he done other than torment others?"
"Hell if I know kiddo. That bitch has been tormenting me for years."
"I wouldn't call me kiddo. I'm in my thirties. Now answer. Why are you here, how did you find this place, and who are you?" With that, Ed vanished. The man holding a knife to his throat was now on the ground, his head pinned to the floor and arms behind his back.
"Kiddo, you aren't even a tenth as old as I am. So shut it. You are gonna make an awful student if you can't even listen. I told you all the info you need to know already. God brought me here to train you. Son of a bitch wants me to pit you against another one of my students. In fact, I'm training someone different every single day. Like a damn class! What does god take me for, a real teacher?! Two of them are even kids! Like hell man. He knows all of you will clash at different points, and me training them won't change the timeline, no matter how much I tell you. He did tell me that two of the ones I'm training are fans of yours. So that's weird I guess. I don't really get a choice on whether or not I train you. So get ready to crawl through hell!" Ed stated with an evil grin on his face.
With the last week going by, Izuku trained harder than ever. He worked on his forms like a Kata, finally figuring out his first two breathing forms. He even named them, but wanted to wait to say it till he had to use them. He designed about twelve, and continued to think of more. He focused, mastering them step by step. He even thought of a new nen ability. He was still figuring it out, but for now he had to work on even summoning his main weapon. Which he still couldn't do. He did however make sure that the two bases of his staff had alchemy circles on them. He needed them for ranged attacks and a solid defense.
It was finally time for the fated day. Izuku couldn't sleep and ended up waking up at three am. So he gathered his gear, including luckily approved staff, and headed out. He thought it would be funny to tie his bag over his staff as he walked, reminiscing a hobo. Even though it was two train stops away, Izuku decided to jog the whole way to school. He had the time, so why the hell not. That was when he heard something in an alley he walked by. A guy ran out holding his crotch, yelling, "Bitch bit me! On my dick!"
With that Izuku took a deep breath, and slung his bag at the guy's head full speed, leading to a one shot KO. He grabbed his bag and the guy's collar, dragging him back to the alley. "Hey are you still here? You okay? He's out cold and I wanted to make sure he attacked you." There was no one there. He shrugged and dragged the guy into the trash and left him there. He figured that plus getting his dick bit was good enough.
Around five am, he made it. The gates of UA high. He looked at them, huge in size. 'Master Ed had mentioned opening a gate at least three times bigger than this. I don't believe that would be humanly possible.' So with nothing to do but wait, Izuku sat down against the wall of the famous school and started to write in one of his notebooks. This one was labeled, "Breath of Heroes: Bo Staff Forms." He had a few heroes he thought fit the bill. He sat there with a pencil in his mouth for a while, unable to think. Eventually he put away that book and took out another, "Breath of Heroes: General Forms." This one was full of forms that either required him to be unarmed, or were for things like movement, or other utility. He was sketching out on the first page. He only had the one in this book. It was the first thing he thought every hero needed. The speed to get there in time to help. He decided that even though his form would have many weapons in it, they would be named in order. He kept sketching away, becoming lost in thought till a shadow loomed overhead.
"Why that is quite a good sketch of his armor, but your leg area is slightly off. OH! I apologize! I saw your art and didn't realize I was invading both your space and privacy!" The boy was already bowing, his blue slicked back hair in Izuku's face.
"Ah! It's no problem as long as you promise not to look into my notebooks again please." Izuku had his staff leaning against his torso the whole time, standing up seamlessly as it didn't tip nor lose any form of stability on the ground. As if it was part of him. "I'm Izuku Midoryia! It's nice to meet you." Izuku held out his hand for a handshake, to which the other greeted frivolously and shocking Izuku.
"I am Tenya Iida from Soumei Private Academy. May I ask why you are sitting on the wall of U.A. today?"
Izuku laughed lightly, when someone else answered, "I would also like to know that. We don't support homeless kids here you know." A man who quite possibly looked homeless was standing on the wall, so one could guess he was a teacher. Well anyone except Izuku, who knew who it was right away.
"The Erasure Hero: EraserHead! You are a teacher here! One of my Forms is based off you, or will be once I finish it! Your ability to fight without a quirk was part of my inspiration!" With all his excitement, Izuku didn't realize that he had used the staff to launch himself next to the hero with a huge smile on his face. "The way you seamlessly fight with your binding cloth is amazing! I had to do a lot of digging to find any combat footage! Are you an examiner for the test too?!" The whole time, Eraser was smiling largely, seeing the boy clear a twenty foot gap as if that pole was part of his body.
"You're Izuku Midoryia aren't you? The quirkless kid that is applying this year?" Eraser's head turned to the side like a cat stalking its prey, all while smiling.
"Yes sir!" Izuku replied, his body mimicking that of a monkey's more. At this point he was on the pole, leaning on it at just the right angle so that the pole would put pressure into the ground, keeping both of them up. The boy from before, Iida, sat there shocked. The boy in front of him had essentially just broken into U.A.! There was a pro doing nothing but talking to him. What neither of them noticed, purely because they had not met the man before, was the hint of sadness in his eyes.
"Very well, you can come in and wait. We were supposed to open the doors around now anyway. Everyone can enter." With that they sat down and took their tests, free to sit on the courtyard near the main building. Apparently they had each student take their test once they arrived, earliness adding to your score. Izuku spent the rest of the time till the meeting hanging out in a tree, so he could be away from most other students. That is till one came up to the tree and used her quirk to move up it and sit down. Her hair was made of long vines that reached down to her waist. She used them to lift her to a branch just above Izuku's. She then started to pray and that was when Izuku scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry do you have a problem?" She asked rather calmly. It didn't seem like she was upset.
"It's just, my master has met god multiple times, and even speaks to him at an almost constant, hating it more every time." Here green eyes widened at hearing that, and she leaned forward causing her to fall. Izuku reached out with his hand and grabbed onto her collar. "Careful there." He placed her back on his branch.
"What do you mean he has met God?!" Izuku sighed, and cracked his neck.
"Not my story to tell. Although I can most definitely tell you that he really has met god, and hates him." She looked at him puzzled. She had no clue why anyone could hate God. There was no reason, was there?
"My name is Ibara Shiozaki, what is yours?" She was still staring at him, and with all the talk of god, he realized that he and her were sitting in a tree. And very close. He blushed and fell backwards, leading to her catching him with her hair and laughing. "What was that you said? Careful there?"
"I'm Izuku Midoryia. Can you put me back on the branch now?" He was blushing at the girl. Not only was she cute, but she also seemed innocent. He couldn't help it. She placed him gently, and he went back to writing in a different notebook, "Art Practice and Sketching Volume 5." He took it upon himself to sketch the young beauty next to him while she prayed, and did so furiously for the next few hours. That was till they called out the horn for students to gather in the auditorium.
Izuku shuffled in till he sat in the seat number that belonged to him, and noticed that his childhood friend was sitting next to him, Katsuki Bakugo, also known as Kacchan. He smiled at his friend who only scoffed back, then did a double take. "Deku! What's up with that scar? You trying to play the hero again?"
Izuku smiled at his friend's sentiment. While he knew that it was just how he worried, to anyone else his behavior would usually be taken as bullying. "Don't expect me to come save you if you're gonna get another,ya shitty fucking nerd."
"Thanks Kacchan, but I'll be fine. Thanks for trying to keep me safe!" The students that just heard their conversation were very confused. From what they could hear, one student basically told the other to fuck off, and said thanks for it. They were highly confused.
That was when the whole world probably heard, "Welcome applicants and future students! With that first boring test, we narrowed it down to all of you, although only 36 of you will make it through to become students! So let's go over your point totals! In order to pass, you need to out rank everyone else and make it into the top 36. Let's get a yeaaaah!" The pro hero Present Mic had appeared on stage, wearing his leather hero costume, with his hair flared way up.
"Yeah!" Izuku cried out alone only to realize no one yelled with him.
"There you go little listener! Now then onto the faux villains! Each one will be worth the number of points on their weapons, with the exception of the zero pointer. That one is just an obstacle, like fire could be in a building or structural weakness. Definitely like structural weakness." If anyone was close to Present Mic they could hear him giggling to himself. "The great hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said... 'True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life.' Plus Ultra! Break a leg, everyone!"
With that everyone filed out to the buses that lead them to the first step in the rest of their lives. They stood outside the gate, Izuku with his staff ready, the rest of the student body stretching or getting ready in their own ways. The boy from before, Iida, had come up to Izuku putting his hand on the shorter boy's shoulder. This is when Izuku turned and was thoroughly surprised. Iida had changed from his school's uniform, to a muscle suit that stuck to his frame. His body was muscular sure, but that's not what surprised Izuku. It was that he was a good thirteen centimeters taller than him. Maybe he hadn't noticed because he was sitting when they met, or was it because he just didn't care? What Izuku also didn't notice was that he was speaking out loud. "Huh?" Iida stated as he looked heartbroken.
Author's Note:
Yo, what is good readers? Anyway I know you are busy but I wanted to ask some questions.
What kind of weapons would you like Izuku to use?
Who do you want to see him in a relationship with? Or do you want this to be more like a harem? I did set up a scene with Ibara Shiozaki, but that was just to introduce her. I like her design quite a bit.
I have a few Ideas for attacks(Breathing Styles) based on heroes and would love to hear yours too! Also Nen ability ideas. I got a couple but more is always appreciated. Also I love when people try to guess the story, so
Who do you think Ed is training? Also Quirk Ideas for OCs? Credit will be given.
