McCoy rolled over in his bed to switch off his alarm clock, which was blaring loudly.
He attempted several times to hit the off switch, but failed each time.
"Alright, alright. Enough already! I'm bloody up!" McCoy muttered angrily as he finally shut the bleeping off.
Slowly McCoy rose from his bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Why do they make them so dam annoying?"
McCoy hated his early shifts, mainly because he hated being woken up at stupid times, day or night.
The time was exactly 5am, which was typically when McCoy's early shift started, but he still didn't like it.
Still moaning to himself, McCoy headed into the bathroom to brush his teeth.
He was just grateful he had chosen to take a shower the night before, mainly since he needed to wash his hair.
Opening the mirrored cabinet to retrieve his tooth paste and brush, McCoy didn't notice anything was amiss.
That was until he closed the cabinet door, to be greeted by his own reflection.
But something was clearly not right.
His hair was no longer its normal brown colour, instead it was green. Neon green to be precise.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" McCoy cried, dropping his tooth paste and brush into the sink.
How had his hair turned green? Must have been his shampoo, McCoy had a good guess as to who would have an answer.
He stormed back into his room and snatched his communicator off his dresser, flicking it open aggressively.
"JIM!" McCoy screamed into the device, it wasn't long before he got a reply.
"Bones, its 5am! Why are you screaming at me?" Kirk asked, "Get your ass to my quarters and you'll find out. Now!"
"Alright Bones, I'll be there in a short while."
McCoy snapped his communicator shut and sat on his bed, waiting for Kirk to show up which didn't take long.
Kirk didn't bother knocking, he just walked straight in, talking as he did so. "Alright Bones, what seems to be the problem?"
It was then when Kirk noticed a very angry looking McCoy sitting on his bed, he had also noticed the mess of neon green hair.
"You so much as snigger and I'll make you regret it, am I clear?!" McCoy muttered angrily, a tiny flame glowed in his eyes.
Kirk tried his best to hold in his laughter, but he just couldn't. It wasn't long before he burst out laughing, almost in tears.
"Jim! This ain't funny!" McCoy growled. "Oh but it is Bones." Kirk laughed, that was until he saw the look in McCoy's eyes.
"Was this your bloody doing?" McCoy asked, Kirk quickly shook his head. "No Bones, I didn't do this I swear."
Well that was one suspect crossed off the Doctors list, only about another 400 to go.
"What am I going to do Jim? I can't go walking around the ship like this!"
Kirk stood there, a hand resting on his chin while he thought. Suddenly an idea popped into his head.
"I'll be back in a second Bones." McCoy didn't get a chance to reply since Kirk had bolted out of his room.
Several minutes went by until Kirk finally returned, with something hidden behind his back.
"Jim, what have you got?" McCoy asked nervously, what ever it was he just hoped it would help with his current predicament.
Kirk smiled as he pulled the item from behind his back, McCoy's eyes opened wide at what it was. It was a wig.
"Seriously Jim?!" McCoy yelled. Kirk nodded, "I wore this last Halloween, it looks like your old hair."
McCoy didn't argue, he grabbed the wig and put it on. It actually did look like his own hair, so at least now he could work.
He told Kirk that if he found out who swapped out his shampoo with hair dye, he would make them pay.
It wasn't long before McCoy did find out who did it and the person was McCoy's second suspect, after Kirk.
Scotty had questioned McCoy's hair before accidentally revealing it was him who caused the Doctors hair to turn green.
It was safe to say that Scotty learnt his lesson, that was after he recovered from the sedation McCoy had given him in revenge.
