Sulu and Lexie had finally gotten the same shift off, meaning there was only one place they would be. That was the gym.
The Engineer and the Helmsman shared one interesting hobby, they both did fencing.
They tried to get in a match every other day, but sometimes they went weeks without a sparring match.
So whenever the pair did get the chance to have a match, they always went all out.
Typically their matches usually stayed within the ships gym, but it seemed that today's match didn't have that limit.
Lexie and Sulu were shuffling down the halls of the ship, swords in hand, trying to jab the other to score a point.
Other officers just stepped to the side when they saw the two Lieutenants heading towards them, all while staring in confusion.
"What's the matter Sulu, getting tired?" Lexie said smugly as she dodged the Helmsman's sword once again.
"Not in the slightest Lexie, I'm just not trying to show you up." Sulu replied with a small, smug smile.
Which seemed to annoy Lexie since she swung her sword at him, which of course Sulu dodged.
On the bridge everything was quiet, for once. Kirk was having a conversation with Scotty and McCoy.
Since the two of them were on the bridge together for once. "I'm surprised Lexie ain't with you Scotty?" Questioned McCoy.
"She's with Sulu, I think they were planning on getting a few fencing matches in during their time off." Scotty said with a smile.
Kirk should have known that answer was coming, the two Lieutenants had spoken none stop about it for weeks.
"Well let's hope they don't get too carried away like they did the last time they fenced." Kirk stated.
The last time Lexie and Sulu had fenced, the pair of them ended up in sick bay since they got a bit violent.
Both of them managed to knock the rubber tips off their swords and proceeded to jab each other in the arms with the blades.
Needless to say that they got a stern talking to from McCoy, Kirk, and even Scotty for their recklessness.
"The pair of you should know better than that, you're Lieutenants for god sake!" Kirk had said to them.
"You could have killed each other!" McCoy had growled, while threating them with his hypo.
"You're going to give me a heart attack one of these bloody days!" Scotty yelled, mainly to Lexie.
McCoy was about to reply when the doors to the bridge slid open and in walked something which no one was expecting.
It was Lexie and Sulu, swords in hand. Clearly they were completely unaware of where they were.
Every officer turned around from their stations and just stared at the event which was unfolding in front of them.
The two of them stood in front of the command chair, swords pointing at each other, waiting for the other to make a move.
"Come on Sulu, make a move already, or are you too chicken?" Lexie said as she gave him a smirk.
Sulu just stared at her as he tightened his grip of his sword. "You're calling me a chicken, what does that make you? A duck?"
Lexie didn't seem to take that too well since she lunged for the Helmsman.
McCoy lent over and whispered something into Kirks ear, "Don't you think you should stop them Jim?" Kirk turned to face him.
"I don't want to upset the people with the swords. You do it." McCoy crossed his arms, "Jim, I'm a Doctor not their Captain."
Kirk knew McCoy was right, he was their Captain and so what if they had swords. They wouldn't hurt him, would they?
After clearing his throat, Kirk rose from his chair. He was slightly nervous about interrupting the two sword wielding officers.
"What the hell do you two think your doing?! This is the bridge, not a sparring arena!" Kirk yelled angrily.
Almost instantly Lexie and Sulu stopped fighting, dropped their swords to their sides and stared at their Captain's red face.
"We're sorry Captain, we got a little carried away." Lexie said sadly, as she lifted up her visor and Sulu did the same.
"You do that often, hand in your fencing swords. You're band from fencing for a month!" Kirk cried. Lexie and Sulu nodded.
They handed their blades over before leaving the bridge, heads hung low. That would teach them to keep their matches in the gym.
Kirk warned them that if he caught them fencing outside the gym again, he would ban them from fencing for even longer.
