"Keenser, can you pass that laser drill please?" Scotty asked as he waved his hand about. But nothing happened.
Slightly confused Scotty turned round to find that Keenser was nowhere to be seen. "Keenser? Where's he bloody gone?"
Scotty muttered angrily as he stood up, it wasn't like Keenser to run off while he was working. So where was he?
It was then when Scotty heard a grunting noise coming from behind a crate, knowing what it was he went to investigate.
He looked over the crate and couldn't believe what he saw. It was Keenser, but he was fast asleep laying on the hard deck.
"Poor lad, he's warn himself out." Scotty thought to himself as he reached down and scooped the alien up in his arms.
Keenser snuggled into Scotty's chest, Scotty wasn't going to wake him, he looked like he needed the sleep.
With his friend in hand, Scotty made his way towards the exit of Engineering.
Along the way he had gotten several odd looks from the other Engineers, but a quick glare from Scotty made them look away.
Just as Scotty stepped out of the doors he bumped into Lexie, who just smiled at the sight that greeted her.
"He looks knackered." She exclaimed, Scotty nodded. "Aye, he is lass. I'll be back shortly, I'm going to take the wee lad to bed."
"Sure thing Scotty, take your time." Lexie replied as she stepped over to Keenser and gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead.
"Sleep well Keenser." She whispered before waving goodbye to the Scotsman.
As Scotty carried Keenser through the halls, even more officers stared at him but they soon looked away again.
"What happened Scotty? Is Keenser OK?" Asked a voice from behind him, Scotty turned to see Kirk walking towards him.
"He's fine Jim, he just fell asleep during his shift. The wee mans been working himself to death recently."
Kirk was relieved to hear that he was alright, he also couldn't help smiling at the sight of Keenser cradled in Scotty's arms.
He looked so dam cute, "Well, best get him to bed Scotty." "Aye Jim, see you later."
Kirk waved goodbye as Scotty continued on his way to Keenser's quarters, which weren't that far from his own.
It then occurred to him that he might not remember the code for Keenser's door.
The little guy had told him it some time ago, but Scotty had completely forgotten it.
So with that in mind he chose to head to his own quarters, at least he knew how to get in there.
Scotty soon arrived and typed in his code, allowing the door to slide open.
He stepped inside and headed straight for the bed. He threw the cover off to reveal the mattress.
Scotty then gently laid his friend down on the mattress, Keenser almost instantly began to shuffle around.
Scotty held his breath, hoping that he wouldn't wake up. Thankfully Keenser was just adjusting to his new bed.
Smiling softly to himself, Scotty reached over and pulled the cover over Keenser. "Sleep well wee man."
The Engineer grabbed a hold of a corner and seemed to almost cuddle it, as if it was either a toy or another person.
"The wee man's so cute when he's sleeping." Scotty thought as he tip toed towards the door, switching the light off as he went.
This wasn't the first time Scotty had carried his friend to bed, but it was the first time onboard the ship.
He had done it several times back on Delta Vega and on the odd occasion while they were on shore leave.
Scotty waited for the door to shut before making any noise, before heading back down to Engineering to continue his work.
Needless to say the next morning Keenser was more than a little confused when he woke up, to find himself in Scotty's bed.
He was even more confused when he saw the Scotsman sleeping on the couch, head resting on several pillows.
But he didn't really question it, Scotty did tell him what happened and apologize for not taking him to his own bed.
Keenser said he didn't mind and said thank you. In his own little way of course.
He then apologize for falling asleep while on shift, which Scotty told him he didn't need to do.
Instead he told him to just tell him when he was beat and tired, since he didn't mind him leaving shifts to go to bed.
