Victory or Defeat
The fight had begun when Midnight gave the signal.
Iida made the first move using his engine quirk, going for the kill. The hardened user took the blow after anticipating it, using his arms to guard. Iida cringed feeling the pain in his foot from the kick and pushed off to gain some distance when Kirishima went to slug him.
"So close yet so far!" Present Mic commented about the first blood drawn.
The attacks continued as Iida moved around searching for an opening. But no matter where he went, Kirishima's hardened body intercepted the kicks. This continued as Iida struck every part of Kirishima but his kicks didn't do shit at all.
"Like I said an interesting match."
"How so Eraserhead?"
"It's a contest of speed vs defense. Kirishima can't touch him, but Iida can't hurt him. Eventually, stamina will start to apply."
The audience heard and understood it's more like an endurance match.
Iida's latest attack struck behind, but Kirishima still withstood. At this point, however, Kirishima could feel the pain as he rarely defended his back. He couldn't show it, less Iida discovers his weak point. "I need to keep this up until he tires himself."
Iida continued the assault knowing the lack of momentum in his kicks if he loses the speed. 'Everywhere I attack he hardens. My feet can only hit this wall so much.'

Class 1-A stands
Class1-A was watching how their classmates were fighting intensely. Any thoughts of fighting for the world to see were gone: one is fighting for his brother's pride and the other to show how manly he was.
"Iida's not holding back, like with Ochako." Jiro jabbed Kaminari for his shameless comment, looking at her classmate with worry.
"We noticed," Jiro said as they could see chipped parts from Kirishima's hardened body like his red hair on the arena floor. He's wearing down.
"But the question is how long can Kirishima last with his defense?" asked Ojiro, looking with intrigue.
"Who's going to last the longest?" Sero asked.
"It's more like an endurance fight." Shoto made her appearance with the crowd staring at her with relief. Still covered in a few band-aids, she was relatively okay.
"Oh, Todoroki-san! You're alright." Mina looked at with relief.
"I'm good. Recovery Girl already healed my wounds, and I wanted to see the tournament."
"That's good," said Midoriya, trying to act normal knowing about her gender. Sadly, his act almost broke when she came to him and the empty seat next to him.
"Can I sit here?" he asked.
"It's fine! No harm done!"
As the shaman flailed about, their classmates became flabbergasted seeing the normally quiet Todoroki who would always distant himself was talking to Midoriya like they were suddenly close. And after that declaration of war too. Amidamaru knew why and kept it to himself. 'Sadly, my master is a terrible liar.'

Iida was already getting tired. He tried hitting every angle of Kirishima futilely and his legs were giving.
"I need to find a way to finish this." It was then that Iida noticed a weak spot and planned to exploit it. Propelling himself toward Kirishima, he was ready to finish this.
Kirishima saw Iida dashing and put up both his arms to guard, only to get blindsided by the speedster jump high above him. He mounted his leg for an ax kick.
"Iida is going for an ax kick! Will it work?!"
"Arghhh!" Shouting, Iida went for the head. Kirishima quickly raised his guard. The attack clashed with the target, but it didn't work. The arena broke underneath them, and Iida's leg was caught.
"Nice try, but Panda hits harder than you!" Kirishima increased his grip as he spun him around.
"Well, well! It seems Kirishima managed to withstand the attack and is ready to throw Iida out of bounds!" The crowd exclaimed with excitement as Kirishima was going to finish it off.
Not wanting this to be over, Iida span and kicked as much as he could to break free. But to no avail, as Kirishima eventually let him go. Iida went flying to the edge of the ring, bouncing on the hard cement. His hand reached the end.
"Iida's head is still not touching the ground; no out of bounds'!' Midnight proclaimed.
"Talk about being close," Eraserhead commented.
"So close," The harden user growled as he almost beat Iida.
After experiencing that dragon throw maneuver, Iida stood. Both contestants are already back in their fighting stance waiting for the first move. 'I can't risk that again. I need to use my special move and kick Kirishima so hard that he'll be sent flying. But I only have one chance to use it and I'll be defenseless afterward.'
Steeling himself for the coin-flip outcome, Iida made his decision. He would win at any cost, make his family proud, and face Midoriya in the next round.
Iida made his iconic running stance as blue jets erupted from his legs. "Recipro-Burst!"
Going hard and fast, Iida delivered a kick that reached Kirishima still on guard.
"Thunk!"
"Thunk?" The audience repeated awaiting the outcome.
"Arghhh!'' Iida screamed in pain gripping his legs; he could feel his bones shatter from the impact.
"What happened? Why it didn't work?! Iida's speed would be able to send Kirishima flying!" Kaminari looked in shock.
"Look closer at Kirishima's legs," Amidamaru spoke.
As everyone looked closer, they could see his legs were embedded inside the concrete.
"Kirishima dug in his legs to reinforce his guard. Iida's speed lacked the power to break Kirishima out of that foundation." This was Momo's explanation, and all understood what she meant. It's the same as a car crashing into a building.
"No hard feelings, Iida." Kirishima apologized looking at the hurtful class assistant gripping his right leg. 'I had to think hard about how to become an immovable boulder after Panda sent me flying so easily. This was my answer.'
Kirishima quickly grabbed Iida still writhing in pain and plopped him out of bounds that easily.
"Iida is out of bounds. Kirishima wins the match!" Midnight announced for all to hear.
"You heard it folks; the harden kid has undone the speedster, just like the tortoise and the hare!"
"That's actually a good metaphor."
"Thank you-hey!" The crowd applauded such a dynamic match.
Kirishima cried in joy knowing he won in a real fight, after that humiliating first match with her. "Yeah!"
While Iida was distraught knowing he lost. 'I'm sorry Tensei. I failed you.' Tears sprouted from his eyes. Knowing he can't say 'I won' for the family honor.
"Iida lost." Ochako glanced at her partner's assistant being carted to Recovery Girl. She already knew how determined he was to win for his family, something she could empathize with.
"He shouldn't try kicking a boulder at top speed," Sero stated.
"It could have worked, only if Iida held the monstrous strength to break through such resistance," was Tokoyami's thought.
"How's Iida doing? Is he alright?" Ochako asked again seeing how distraught he was.
"Don't worry. We've got the world's best doctor," Mina gave positive words.
"I sure hope so." This was Sato thinking.
'A doctor can only help him physically.' Amidamaru kept that to himself. It would only dampen the mood.
1-B Stand
"Kirishima managed to beat that speedster!" Tetsutetsu smiled with his sharp teeth seeing his hardened rival win the match.
"I thought you hated those from class 1-A except Midoriya," said Setsuna, who was a bit confused.
"Not him. We're basically rivals," was the steel user's proud statement.
"More like the exact same person," Komori said to herself.
Monoma didn't care as long as class 1-B won. "What's important is that Ibara will be fighting against that 1-A bitch in the next round."
"Then we support her to win!" Pony was cheering on.
"You Said It!"
Iida came to the stand after healing his wounds, but his spirit was visibly in tatters. Even the way he said he was alright was painful, to those who paid deeper attention. But by the time he had arrived, they were all ready to watch the next match.
Kirishima, who was there already, got up and shook Iida's hand. "Hey, good play out there."
Iida did the same by shaking Kirishima's hand as a sign of respect before he vibrated suddenly along with his former opponent. Everyone looked at the strange display Iida was doing before he spoke, saying, "It's fine everyone. It's just my phone."
He checked the caller. "It's my mother, I need to take this." Making his way out of the booth, he was going to make the call.
XXX
"All right everybody; it's time for the next match of the third round!"
Everyone quickly made their way to their seats as Present Mic announced as usual.
"Grace, cunning, and won her match the fastest yet; it's Ibara Shiozaki!"
"It wasn't that fast," Kaminari sulked with a shadow over his face.
"It took literally seconds for her to win." Jiro deadpanned, nearly making the blond cry in shame.
"Ibara, win this for class 1-B," shouted Monoma, the blond chuunibyou he is.
"Versus-"
"The spunky pink horn girl with an acid touch! Don't get on this girl's bad side boys and girls! Also from the Hero Course, it's Mina Ashido!"
"Yeah Ashido! Win this for the team."
Both Ibara and Mina stood across from each other in the arena. Mina had a confident grin on her face while Ibara stood with her eyes closed and hands praying.
"Get ready to lose, girly!" Mina shouted as she crouched low, her acid already forming in her hands.
"I will not fall, but prevail," Ibara said simply in a stoic tone seeing her not a threat at all.
"Start!"
Mina shot off first as she used her acid to slide across the ground.
Shiozaki quickly embedded her thorn hair to the ground. Caught by surprise when then vines come out of the cement, the slippery pink girl dodged them easily. While doing so she threw acid splashing her essence at the thorns. The growth became brown and crumbled as a result.
She did try to attack underneath as the vines try to tackle the acid user but she was fast and flexible as she spun her acid turning the vines into a pile of goo.
"This is going to be an easy win," Ashido spoke as she continued dodging the vines and using her acid.
"It seems Ashido is getting the advantage! Can she swipe it clean for another win?"
She was getting near her opponent, ready to deliver a finishing blow. But before Mina could jump for a forward attack she fell on the concrete arena, almost like she just tripped by accident.
"Oh no! Ashido just tripped! That going to leave a mark!" Present Mic exclaimed seeing someone trip during the fight.
"This is going to cost her. A rookie mistake."
"Yeah, you said it, Eraserhead!"
"What?!" She looked back to see what was happening because she knew she didn't trip. Checking her legs, she saw that they were tied by something 'How did that-'
Those were her last thoughts just as a giant wave of thorny vines the size of a car slammed into her. She cried out as she was sent flying out of bounds.
"Mina Ashido is out of bounds! Ibara Shiozaki wins the match." Midnight announced, raising a flag to the aforementioned winner.
"This was another fast win for Ibara Shiozaki! This makes two, a new record in U.A. books folks!"
"You hear that class 1-A it's going to be recorded!" Monoma shouted towards 1-A stands, his manic eyes looking dry.
"Hey! She cheated!" Ashido shouted as she got up, pointing over at the item Shiozaki wore. "There's no way she could have pulled that off alone; she was using her support gear or something!"
"No laws were broken, Ashido-san," Midnight spoke, not liking how pinky was so displeased with the outcome. "She made a petition to use it and we agreed."
Midnight making a statement as this wasn't the first time a student was displeasure of an outcome of the match.
"But if she had it the whole time, why not use it earlier?!"
"Did she need to?" was Midnight's teacher-like response. Of course, Ashido's pouting showed she wasn't satisfied.
"How sinful."
Both women turned to Shiozaki who spoke, who looked away while sporting cold eyes. "A true hero would accept their loss with grace." Her eyes were to the stadium, not even acknowledging Ashido. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have better things to focus on." As the thorn girl walked away like a boss.
Ashido was furious being looked down on. That said, she did nothing but hold her tongue. Humiliation had reached a high for her.
And so, she left the arena silently.
"That was fast," Tsuyu bluntly said.
" Huh, which means I wasn't the only one lost that fast?" declared Kaminari, glad that he could share in embarrassment with someone else from his class.
"Oh put a sock on it! You were beaten by your own quirk!" Jiro pointed out.
"Oh, let me have this moment!"
"She only lost because she underestimated her, but it took her longer than you who blew up instantly," Tokoyami stated, picking at Kaminari's soft spot.
Mineta patted his pervert buddy's back. "Let it go, man. That's that misandric double standard at work."
Kaminari just sulking hearing everyone's comments.
"I agree." Mineta turned quickly to Amidamaru, thinking he agreed with him. It all went down when he continued. "Ashido-dono had the skill, but she treated it like a game, which is why she lost the match."
Everyone took in the wise samurai's assessment, while his mind wandered. For some reason, there was a sense of deja vu with Shiozaki.
"Heck yeah take that, you 1-A bastards!" Monoma laughed proudly at Shiozaki's victory. "And we're just going to keep winning!"
"Monoma, you're turning into a chuunibyou," Kamakiri said, as his getting used to his classmate personality.
"I think that was just a speech. We're not recording these fights." The vice president had given her opinion.
It was then Ibara came up the stand as she wasn't even injured. Recovery Girl still wouldn't ignore it.
"Congratulation Shiozaki! That was another good match."
"Thank you for the support. But, your match will be next, Class President."
"I know. Wish me luck everyone."
XXX
"Hey everyone!" Ashido came to meet the others. They all could tell she was dejected knowing that she lost the match because of some stupid support gear that her opponent used. "It's not fair."
"But her using that is no different from your shoes or my belt. We petitioned for this." Aoyama showed his belt proving his point.
"Besides that, welcome to the Lost-To-The-Hot-Thorn-Girl team," Kaminari said, holding his arms out. She simply punched him in the gut, crying how that didn't make her feel better.
"That's even worst!"
"Just chill out okay. What's important is the next match." Sero's words pushed everyone to focus on the arena.
"Yeah you're right; Tokoyami, avenge me!"
League of Villains hideout
Sitting alone in the darkness, the sulking form of Tomura Shigaraki sat in front of the computer monitor. His eyes glued to the screen as he glared at the sports festival being played, he slowly brought his still-healing arm up to reach his neck. His nails clawed into his flesh in annoyance to the sight before him.
"These little brats, acting like nothing is wrong with the world today," he grunted out and scratched harder. "Playing in the sun like you own everything… it makes me sick."
He glared through his ragged hair at the video of the students that won the tournament, especially the one with the green hair and the sword. "If only you hadn't gotten involved, both Erasurehead and All Might would be dead now." Those nails of his became red. "Soon, I will tear down this pathetic hero society. Everything that they worship will perish, especially All Might."
XXX
Shigaraki wasn't the only one watching the tournament; every villain and hero in the entire world wanted to see and research the potential kids in training, whether for good or for bad. The heroes from overseas would need potential sidekicks while villains formed countermeasures for the heroes.
The enemy Shaman was also watching from his hiding spot. This one wouldn't want to watch such a thing, but quickly changed minds when the Asakura was involved. It would be the perfect time to properly gauge the Shaman hero's strength.
"Show me more of your power and skill, Asakura Izuku."
"Let's start the fourth match, everyone!"
The crowd cheered even more; this match would be the end of the quarter-finals.
"She's the master of the martial arts that can bring anyone down; the hero course's Itsuka Kendo!"
Kendo looked on with a nervous smile. 'This is going to be hard. I don't much of Tokoyami's quirk.'
"Kendo, win this one for class 1-B! Make this our second win."
Versus-
"The Dark Prince, the king of the night, something I'm going to look for under my bed tonight! From the Hero Course, it's Fumikage Tokoyami!"
Tokoyami inhaled, remembering that this girl clobbered Bakugo.
"Tokoyami, avenge me."
Ready?
Start!
"Go, Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami made the first move with the shadow apparition. The shadow bird formed, rushing forward across the stage.
Kendo readied herself by expanding her hands out to properly brace her stance, throwing her large palms forward. The bird was quick to dodge the palms attempting to slam him, like a mosquito avoiding being crushed.
Tokoyami expected that, ordering his Quirk to continue attacking from afar. Kendo yelled out and shot her hands forward again, her hands and Dark Shadow's claws slamming and intertwining into one another.
'I'll have to blindside her.' Dark Shadow moved in to strike her, but she continued to parry him. She slid in for her missile punch, but the shadow bird deflected her. It was pretty even until he realized she was pushing forward.
Kendo got near enough to deliver the missile punch, but Tokoyami jumped away using his quirk to move from one area to another.
"Oh to! Tokoyami managed to dodge Kendo's missile punch!"
"That was too close, Dark Shadow!" He could feel his sides scratched from the punch that barely touched him.
"Yeah!"
"Dark Shadow, if you see her doing that same strike, dodge it immediately!"
"You got it, boss."
"Dang it. He saw through my moves and knew how to dodge. It's those extra limbs and eyes." Taking a moment to understand her position, this continues to get harder. Tokoyami had no blindspots. To continue would be difficult, but she's a martial artist. This was where she thrived and her pride.
Kendo decided to use her thunderclap, the secret move she used on Bakugo. She extended her arms to perform the technique.
"As if I'd let you! Dark Shadow, stop her!" Dark Shadow emerged and quickly vice-gripped both Kendo's wrists preventing her from using her skill.
"Let go of me!" She struggled but the shadow grip was strong.
Defiant, Kendo jumped aiming for a double kick. Dark Shadow released her wrist to grab her legs and throw her out of bounds, but she was quick enough to dodge that bullet, flipping away to get more room.
"Tremendously, Dark Shadow kept countering Kendo's attacks! Can she find a way?!" Present Mic shouted liking the fight.
Both opponents were carefully watching their movements, no openings to exploit. Tokoyami's extra limbs were multi ranged, and Kendo's big hands couldn't do damage without getting close.
'If only I could block that quirk, or disable his eyes somehow.' The martial artist checked the area to come up with a plan. That's when she saw the rubble left over from the last fight gave her an idea. 'That's it!'
Kendo enlarged her hands and dashed towards Tokoyami. The shadow user saw this and used Dark Shadow to dodge her inevitable smash attack. Her fists left a pile of rubble and debris.
"What are you doing? Are you that desperate?" Tokoyami widened his eyes in shock at her illogical and risky attack.
"Desperate to win!" She pressed on, slamming her fists into the ground he moved out of at the last second continuously.
"This is unsightly! Kendo is getting desperate, attacking randomly and building giant holes and debris!
"I'm not so sure that's what she's doing."
"What do you mean, Eraserhead?!"
"Kendo is up to something."
"I wanted to win too, but this is beyond reckless. She's not the kind of person to do this." Momo looked on with concern about her friend from another class.
Izuku was unconvinced she wasn't trying something. "No. If I know Itsuka she's up to something."
"So you noticed," spoke Amidamaru with eyes on the scene.
The furious attacks proceeded; by the time she was done, it looked as if someone was preparing for a game of Whack-a-mole. "Now's my chance." She grabbed two piles of concrete then smashed them together, creating a dust cloud that acted as a smokescreen.
"She's using to cover my sights." Tokoyami realized what she was up to instantly, coughing and closing his eyes.
"Not bad. Even though Dark Shadow is unaffected, Tokoyami can't ignore the dust," commented Eraserhead, leaving a rare compliment.
"Dark Shadow, guard around until the dust settles!" Tokoyami's vision was blurred as he kept looking around in fear. All of this dust was burning his throat and nose too.
Without warning, he felt something as Dark Shadow was gone. The shadow bird was hit by a boulder launched at him, before Tokoyami's neck was gripped and he was pulled to the concrete.
"What's this?! Kendo is using a triangle choke on Tokoyami. She will not give up!" As the dust settled, the audience was given the view of Kendo choking Tokoyami into submission.
As brutal as it was, everyone cheered.
'I need to escape fast!' "Dark Shadow, help!" he choked out, but the shadow quirk didn't manifest or more like couldn't.
"Tokoyami currently lacks the upper body strength to fight back, and with his stomach pinned down on the ground Dark Shadow can't come out." Eraserhead's comment gave everyone an in-depth understanding for those not intelligent enough to figure out something that obvious themselves. "She's rather smart to think of that."
"Yes, Kendo! Take that bird brain down!" Tetsu shouted with a grin.
"Come on, Tokoyami! You can fight it!" Mina shouted, holding her hands to her mouth.
Tokoyami's eyes were blurring over, his head got dizzy. The lack of oxygen from the choke was catching up to him; he underestimated her intellect, just like Ashido looked down on Shiozaki. If only his physical body was strong enough to make up for it…
And in just minutes, Tokoyami was unconscious. No longer moving, his eyes were already turned white.
"Tokoyami is defeated; the winner is Kendo!" Midnight announced for all to hear.
"You heard it here folks! Itsuka Kendo wins the match. The anticipation is high!" Present Mic yelled into the mike. "We're having a 15 minute break period for the seminal finals folks, so enjoy the relaxation time including you participants! You'll be remembering this day for the rest of your life."

Those arc words would come and stab some personally. Over in the City of Hosu, tragedy struck. On the floor lying in a pool of blood was the Turbo Hero Ingenium. Also known as Tensai Iida, Tenya's older brother. A task gone wrong, the attacker laughed as he stared down at the worthless hero unable to measure up.
The villain known as Stain drew his blade from Ingenium's spine, slathering his tongue against the jagged edges of his worn katana. High off the taste, Stain made his declaration. "Now begins my purge; this world will be cleansed of fake heroes because the only one who can defeat me is All Might."
Thus this is the end of this round as were reach the semifinals, everyone is busy with the tournament not knowing what happen to Tensai as he faced the hero killer and lost.
Kendo won as Tokoyami too much rally on Dark Shadow as he was like an easier Target.
The next chapter is going to reach the finals as it's going to be a revelation and blast.
