Lexie somehow persuaded Delta and Keenser to allow her to teach them how to ice skate, since there was nothing going on.
But how do you do that without an ice rink? Simple, you just freeze the ships pool of course. Which Lexie was able to do.
And to make sure no one walked in on them, Lexie had placed a 'Out of order' sign on the door. Low tech, but affective.
"Are you sure about this Lex?" Delta asked as he watched his creator slip on her ice skates, "Don't worry, you'll be great."
She replied as she glanced over to see Keenser trying to stand up in the skates that Lexie had got him, how he didn't know.
It wasn't long before Lexie dashed out onto the frozen pool, making it look easy. But for Keenser and Delta it wasn't so simple.
Keenser wobbled over to Lexie and clung to her leg, grunting sadly. "Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. Here, I'll help ya."
Lexie took a hold of the aliens hands and began to skate backwards, taking Keenser with her.
Soon Keenser was skating along next to Lexie, even if he still had a tight grip of her hand. "You've got it Keenser."
Lexie then let go of her friend and watched him skate away by himself, he picked that up really quickly.
She then turned to see Delta gliding across the ice, with help of his wings that is. "I would say that's cheating but, I won't."
Delta smiled at her, it wasn't long before the three friends were elegantly skating across the ice. Doing the odd trick.
They were all having a wonderful time, that was until Lexie heard the door open. Someone had ignored her sign.
But it was the voice which bellowed out that startled the Engineer the most, "What the hell are you three doing?!"
Lexie stopped dead, only to get bowled over by Keenser and then for Delta to land on her head. She glanced over to the doors.
To see Scotty standing there, but he wasn't alone. Also stood with the Scotsman was Kirk and McCoy who didn't look happy.
But something was odd, they weren't in their normal uniforms. In fact, they were wrapped up ready for winter.
"Would one of you care to answer?" Scotty asked, "We were just doing some ice skating Scotty." Lexie answered slowly.
But by the look on the officers faces, they weren't very impressed. "How did you turn the pool into an ice rink?" Kirk questioned.
Lexie got to her feet, picking Delta up off the ice as she went. "I altered the environmental controls of the pool, to freeze it."
McCoy crossed his arms, "Have any of you even looked outside into the hall way?" Lexie shook her head, "No, why?"
"See for yaself lass." Scotty grumbled, still confused Lexie skated her way to the pools edge. Then walked to the door to look out.
She couldn't believe what she was seeing, the whole hallway was covered in ice and it was freezing. What the hell happened?
"What happened?" Lexie asked, "Your tinkering messed with the ships internal environmental controls."
It was McCoy who had answered, "You've turned the whole ship into the artic." Kirk stated.
Needless to say that Lexie felt terrible, all she wanted to do was to have a bit of fun, she never meant for this to happen.
"Bloody hell, I never meant to do that." Lexie hurried over to the panel she had fiddled with to create the ice rink.
After several minutes the ice slowly began to melt and the water evaporated.
Lexie sighed in relief as she closed up the panel, before walking back over to the others with her head hung low.
"I'm so sorry, this was very irresponsible of me. I'll take what ever punishment you see fit to give me."
It was then when Lexie heard something which completely surprised her, it sounded like laughing, the guys were laughing.
"What's so funny?" Scotty wiped his eyes and placed a hand on her shoulder, "We ain't mad at ya lass, not one bit."
"I just froze the whole ship! How are you not mad?" "Because we've been trying to freeze the pool for ages." Kirk said.
Lexie just blinked, "You mean… The three of you wanted to skate?" "Not just us, the whole Command crew."
"Well in that case…" Lexie hurried back over to the panel and tinkered with it again. But this time only the pool froze.
"Any one up for some skating?" It didn't take long for the whole Command crew to be skating about the frozen pool.
Lexie was helping Scotty, since it seemed he had somehow forgotten how to ice skate. He was like a deer on ice.
But it didn't take him long to get back in to it and soon he was skating around with Lexie, what a way to pass the time.
