Lexie was heading off to the pool, to enjoy a relaxing swim. But when she walked in she noticed the pool was already occupied.

"Oh, hi McCoy. Sorry didn't realise you were in here, I can come back later if you would prefer to be alone." Lexie stuttered.

McCoy smiled, as he swam to the edge, "It's alright kid, the pools big enough for the two of us. And company is nice to have."

With a quick smile, Lexie hurried off to change. It wasn't long before she was in the water, swimming beside McCoy.

"Fancy a race Lex?" McCoy called, "Oh you're so on." Lexie replied with a huge grin. This was going to be fun.

The two swimmers took up their starting positions on the pools edge, they weren't messing around. This was serious.

They had agreed to make the race a simple one. To the top of the pool then back and the first one to touch the side wins.

Lexie had asked the computer to count down. Three, two, one, GO! The two of them dived into the water, with such grace.

Both of them were so incredibly fast, they were almost like dolphins. It was as if they were born part fish.

Much to her surprise Lexie was leading, not by much but she was still winning. But McCoy was close behind.

Soon Lexie was back where she started and jumped for joy upon realising she had won. "Nice race McCoy, you ain't…McCoy?"

Needless to say Lexie was confused and worried when she looked back to find McCoy was nowhere to be seem.

"McCoy?" Suddenly something erupted from the water and there was a deafening scream, "Lexie!"

Lexie just stared, in front of her appeared to be some type of gigantic alien squid and in one of its tentacles it held the Doctor.

"Don't just bob there! Help!" McCoy yelled, "Hold on McCoy." Lexie called back. The question was, what to do?

An idea popped into her head, Lexie bolted from the pool and headed straight to the controls which set the pools temperature.

She turned it right down, almost to freezing point. The squid cried out and dropped McCoy, who got the shock of his life.

"Bloody hell that's cold!" He muttered as he swam to the ladder, just as Kirk ran in. "Bones, you alright?"

Kirk asked as he helped the shivering Doctor to his feet, "Fine Jim, thanks to Lexie."

Lexie had ran off to get McCoy a towel to wrap around himself, to get warm. "I see you met our guest." Kirk joked.

He had glanced over to see the squid slowly sinking below the surface of the water, at least it wasn't attacking them.

"Guest! Jim that think could have killed us!" McCoy yelled angrily, "How is it even here?" Asked Lexie.

Kirk rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "It was beamed aboard the ship…" "Please don't tell me Scotty did it?"

Lexie was hoping it wasn't Scotty, since she knew McCoy wouldn't let him off lightly about this.

"No it wasn't him, some Ensigns believed it would be a good practical joke to beam it aboard." Kirk answered quickly.

McCoy's face slowly grew redder and redder. "Where are those bloody Ensigns?! I've got a few things to say to them!"

Just then he sneezed, which Kirk and Lexie found strangely adorable given how angry he was.

"I think you should put on something a little warmer first McCoy, you'll get hypothermia."

The Doctor simply nodded and left along with Lexie, while Kirk stayed to make sure their 'guest' didn't go anywhere.

The Colossal Alien Squid was shortly returned to whatever ocean it came from, hopefully not to return to the ships pool.

Once McCoy had warmed up, he ordered for the Ensigns who were responsible to report to Sick Bay.

Lexie had watched them slug in, but she also watched them slug back out. Looking rather sorry for themselves.

As she chuckled to herself, Lexie heard someone call her name. She turn to see Chekov, Delta, and Scotty walking towards her.

"You alright Lex?" Delta asked as he hopped onto her shoulder, "I'm fine Delta, the squid didn't touch me."

"Well I'm glad to hear that. Otherwise I would have turned it into calamari." Scotty said happily, Chekov nodded in agreement.

It was safe to say that the Ensigns who had beamed the Colossal Alien Squid aboard, didn't stay on the ship for long.

They were beamed off to another Star Ship which was passing, mainly since McCoy told Kirk if they didn't go, he would.

And to Kirk, his CMO (and best friend) was more important than a few trouble making Ensigns. Even if McCoy still had to put up with him causing all the trouble.
