Kirk was enjoying doing some training in the ships gym, for once he had actually gotten the time to fit it in.
He was currently working with the punching bag when he was suddenly blinded by a bright light, before a voice spoke to him.
"Oops, sorry Jim." Once Kirk had regained his ability to see, he saw that Scotty was standing in front of him. "Scotty? What?"
But before the Scotsman could reply, he vanished. Still confused as to what the hell just happened, Kirk chose to call Lexie.
"I was about to call you Kirk, we've got a bit of a problem?" "Does it involve Scotty by any chance?" "Yes, but how did you…"
Kirk told Lexie about what just happened, to which the Engineer simply sighed. "I told him not to mess with…"
"Hold on Lex, I'll come up to the transporter room." Kirk quickly left the gym and headed straight to the transporter room.
When he walked in, he saw Lexie and Delta gathered around the control panel. "So, what the hell's gone on?"
"Scotty chose to mess around with a new invention of his and now he's… Well, he's beaming all over the ship." Lexie stated.
Kirk just stared at her, "He did what? He could get beamed out into space?!" "Don't panic, it was limited to the ship."
That made Kirk feel a little bit better, "So how do we fix what Scotty did?" Lexie rubbed the back of her neck nervously.
"Umm… I have an idea, but there's just one problem with it." "Which is?" Kirk didn't like where this was going.
Lexie held up her phaser, "Destroy the device and Scotty will stop beaming." Kirk's face went white.
"As long as you don't shoot him." Lexie smiled, "My aim ain't that bad Kirk, I won't hit Scotty don't worry."
Kirk wasn't too sure about this idea, but he didn't have another one so he had no choice but to go with Lexie's.
"So, how do we find him?" "Umm… I don't really know, I guess we just walk around and pray he appears in front of us."
Lexie's reply wasn't what Kirk wanted to hear, but once again he didn't have any other ideas. So the two of them set off.
"What was Scotty trying to make anyway?" Kirk asked, "A portable transporter, for emergency's." Lexie replied with a sigh.
"I told him to be careful with it, but did he listen?" Kirk couldn't help but chuckle, Scotty was as stubborn as ever.
Just then they heard someone call out Scotty's name, "That sounded like Bones." Stated Kirk as he rushed through a door.
Closely followed by Lexie, who had her phaser tightly in hand. Turned out that they had ran into the ships swimming pool.
To find McCoy standing at the waters edge in his swim wear. "What's going on Bones?" Kirk asked.
"You'll have better luck asking him Jim." McCoy replied as he pointed to the water. But there was nothing there…
That was until Scotty appeared from thin air. "Oh, hi Jim. Hi Lexie." He called before vanishing.
"Will someone please tell me what's going on?" McCoy cried, "We'll explain later Bones, for now lend us a hand."
McCoy was still confused when Kirk tossed him a phaser, "You want me to shoot him?! Are you out of your dam mind?"
"Not Scotty, the device on his belt." Lexie answered as she took a shot, "Arr, careful lass! Please don't hit me."
Lexie didn't bother answering, even if she had Scotty wouldn't have heard her since he vanished again.
After several minutes and many missed shots later, Lexie was finally able to hit the device, blowing it to pieces.
Scotty went to speak but he suddenly realised he was over the pool. It was like a scene straight out of a cartoon.
It seemed like gravity only seemed to take effect once Scotty looked down, which of course he did.
"Scotty's still wearing his tool belt!" Exclaimed Lexie as she watched Scotty struggle to swim up.
McCoy didn't waste a single moment before diving into the pool and helping Scotty up to the surface.
"Thanks Leonard." Coughed Scotty, before he was marched to Sick Bay by McCoy and Lexie.
Needless to say, Scotty got quite the earful from McCoy about his little stunt. And McCoy wasn't the only one.
Kirk also went off at him, telling him how irresponsible it was to test a device like that, let alone even build one.
Then it was Lexie's turn to tell the Scotsman off, "You could have seriously hurt yourself and you worry about me doing that."
Scotty knew the lass was right, he apologized for his actions and promised not to mess with something like that again. At least not without prior warning.
