"So, what did you want to show us, Scotty?" Asked Lexie as she stepped into the Chiefs office. "Come see, lassie."

Scotty waved her over to his desk, as he opened up a draw and pulled out a small device. "Ta-dar!"

Lexie and Delta just stared at it, "Umm, Scotty. What is that?" Delta asked as he tried to figure out what it was.

"This wee thing will allow us Engineers to materialize any tool we need, no more tool belts or cluttered pockets."

As he explained, Scotty picked his device up and held it in his hand.

"That's brilliant, but more importantly… Does it work?" Lexie didn't want to sound like she didn't have faith in Scotty.

But the Scotsman's track record of successful inventions, wasn't the best. But, bless him he did try.

Scotty rubbed the back of his neck nervously at the young Engineers question, "Actually, I haven't tested it yet…"

That didn't surprise Lexie, typically whenever Scotty invented something, he would test it with her around. Just in case.

"Well then, what are you waiting for? Come on, lets see if it works!" Delta called excitedly.

Scotty smiled as he pressed a button on the side of the device, which materialized a laser cutter in his other hand.

Beaming happily to himself, the Scotsman tried the newly created tool out and it worked! Perfectly in fact.

"Brilliant! It works…" Scotty's sentence was cut short when he felt something burning his hand, quite badly burning it.

Swearing out loud in Gaelic, Scotty threw his 'brilliant' invention onto the ground, which in turn caused it to smash.

Which created a wave of some form of energy, not to mention a bright blue light. Blinding the three officers.

When the light finally faded, Scotty slowly opened his eyes while clutching his burnt hand to his chest.

"That hurts, are you two alright?" But when he looked up, there was no one there. "Lexie? Delta?"

Scotty's heart sank, "Oh my god! Did I evaporate them?" Now he was in panic mode, where had his friends gone?

He called out there names once again, but this time he did get a response. "No need to shout Scotty, we're right here."

Scotty almost jumped out of his skin, there was no one in the room with him. "No you're not…" He muttered.

Suddenly, something touched him on the shoulder, causing him to scream like a school girl. "Scotty, it's just me."

It was Lexie's voice which had called out, but still Scotty couldn't see her. "You're invisible Lex, so is Delta I think."

That wasn't what Lexie was expecting to happen today when she woke up, "Well shit! How are we going to explain this?

They wouldn't have to wait long to come to that bridge, the doors slid open and in walked Kirk and McCoy.

Who just stood there in confusion, Scotty was seemingly talking to himself. "I don't know lass, but it could be worse."

"Scotty… Are you alright?" Asked Kirk, "I've been better Jim, if I'm honest. Why do you ask?" Scotty replied nervously.

McCoy just tilted his head, "Because you're talking to yourself?"

While Scotty tried to think of a way to explain the whole situation, Lexie and Delta decided to have a bit of fun.

Well, when you're invisible you've just gotta make the most of it.

Lexie stepped quietly behind her Captain and Doctor, while Delta hovered next to her. Lexie lent in and whispered in their ears.

"BOO!" Which caused Kirk to leap out of his skin, while McCoy jumped at Scotty who caught the startled Doctor in his arms.

"Nice one Lex!" Delta called between his laughing, needless to say Kirk and McCoy's faces were complete pictures.

"Care to explain?" Kirk asked, "Of course Jim, but first can I put you down now Leonard?" With a flushed face, McCoy jumped out of Scotty's arms.

Then Scotty explained what had happened and the fact that Lexie and Delta were in the room with them, needless to say Kirk and McCoy were more than a little annoyed with the three.

Thankfully, with help from Chekov. Scotty managed to bring their friends back into the land of the visible, who were grateful.

That was until they saw their Captain's face, along with McCoy's. "You almost gave us a heart attack!" Roared McCoy.

Lexie apologized quickly, along with Scotty who was forced to re-think his little invention. But it was all good fun.
