A miracle is in my hands.

His striking blue gaze glanced at the girl next to him. She laid upon the ground, her chest moving up and down with each breath she took. The two had just finished a race. A long, hard race. She won that race. With wings of eagles, she took off and flew towards the checkpoint and flew back to the starting point. They exchanged glances and smiled. She laughed. He loved that laugh. It was contagious; it spread to him, making her laugh even more.

They stayed there, sprawled upon the sand. They watched the sunset together, taking in each new color as it bloomed across the sky. They sat together, each commenting upon the beauty of it all.

"I could stay here forever," she said. He nodded.

"It's beautiful. Like you."

"Huh?"

She looked at him, a look of shock and confusion on her face. He merely smiled and gazed towards the sunset.

He smiled to himself, realizing he made the first step. A step towards a miracle. A miracle, the miracle he had for so long. Finally, finally he knew, sometimes you just have to make your own miracles.

She glanced back to the sunset, thinking. What did he mean by that comment on her? She wondered if he felt the same as she did. And she knew, there was a miracle. A miracle she had for so long. She had always known that sometimes you have to make your own miracles. But, what if your miracle wasn't there?

He glanced at her as she laid there, sprawled upon the sand. And he knew, this was the moment. The moment he had been waiting for. The moment, for his miracle.

He bent down beside her and smiled. She smiled back, a wondering look upon her face. He tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear and whispered. Three little words.

"I love you."

Her heart pounded in her chest. Did he just say.. what she thought he said? But, that would mean... No. She couldn't. Could she?

She sat up, confused and shocked. He leaned away from her, a dejected, yet ever hopeful, look on his face. She shook her head. No. No, no, no, no, no! She couldn't say she loved him back. She shook her head and stood up, running away from him. He sighed, the hope leaving his face as the tears approached. Where had he gone so wrong?

.I hope I don't throw it away.

She leaned behind the paopu tree. She couldn't face him. She had went in the wrong direction, and would have to cross him again. She couldn't. Not after that.

A paopu fruit fell from an upper branch and landed in her lap. She looked at the fruit.

How could such a delicate fruit produce such an unbreakable bond? She looked at the fruit, and back at him. Maybe... Maybe that kind of delicacy was like their friendship. Delicate, yet able to produce something stronger. Stronger than the friendship they had.

Maybe that miracle was in her hands again. And maybe she could make it work.

She ran back to him and sat baside him. He looked back at her, that dejected and rejected look seemed perminant. But, she knew she could wipe it away. She bent to his ear and whispered. Four little words.

"I love you too."

He glanced at her, still dejected, as well as shocked and confused. She looked at him, tears swelling in her violet blue eyes. He shook his head and looked back at the sunset. Then he took off in the direction of his house.

She shook her head. What had happened? Why, why did she have that problem now? And why, why didn't she make it work earlier?

But she still had hope. Hope that maybe, just maybe, that miracle would be placed in their arms again. But she knew, if it would ever work, it would take time.

Kairi didn't think she could wait that long for Sora.

Again.

AUTHORESS NOTE

I wrote this for absolutely no reason. I just heard the song Miracle by StorySide B and thought about miracles.

Maybe they'll make their own miracle.

I must say, this OneShot is very bittersweet.
