I do not own Phantom of the Opera, Phantom of the Opera is property of Gaston Leroux and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Nor do I own Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
Title: Chasing Cars
Summary: This is a simple one-shot taking place if Christine and Erik had been together (but they're not married)… Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
Rating: PG13
"Do you want to start first, or should I?" Christine asked Erik, who sat at the piano, organizing the papers.
"No, I'll go first." He answered. He started the tune on the piano.
"Is this from your new Opera?" She inquired. He just nodded and began to sing.
Erik:
We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Christine suddenly became nervous. What was he trying to say? But she couldn't think about that now, it was her turn to sing.
Christine:
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
The words seemed to state exactly what she wanted to say. How did he know? He started again.
Erik:
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Christine:
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
Erik:
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
Both:
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Erik:
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
Christine:
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
Both:
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
The last notes of the song gently echoed against the black stone walls. The two of them looked at each other, no words were needed.
Erik stood up to his full height, took her hand, and bent down on one knee.
"Christine, I…" He began, fear in his voice but Christine stopped him.
"You don't even need to ask." She said entraced.
"So that's a 'yes'?" He asked shakely.
"Of Course!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around his neck.
A.N.: All right, all right, already! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I know that I haven't been updating Last Glance or Blowing in the West Wind, but I have been so swamped with school. I have the next chapter of BinWW and LG but all I have to do is type them and then I can relax….
