Chapter 2.

"You wanna find a mate?" Kovu and Kiara asked the grizzled lioness together.

"I know it sounds crazy. Me, Vitani, looking for love. But since leaving Zira, and seeing you two together, I see what I was missing out by being her loyal stooge."

'There's no way I'm going to tell them I was jealous of their relationship,' Vitani thought to herself

"Yes, you have been Vitani," Kiara said kindly.

"Having a romantic partner is one of the best things in the world. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but the closeness and passion is worth any problems," the daughter of Simba said, rubbing her head against Kovu's.

Vitani smiled at the display, but it didn't stifle her worry.

"If I do find a mate will he want to leave his home and come here? Will I want to stay with him? What if he pretends to be nice and then turns out to be a jerk? What if his family doesn't approve?"

"There is nothing wrong with being afraid my daughter," Sarabi interjected.

"But you mustn't let your anxiety keep you from fufilling your dreams."

"Grandmother is right," Kiara spoke up

"Take one step at a time Vitani. Don't make long term goals when you're looking for love."

Vitani nuzzled Kiara and Sarabi in gratitude.

"Thanks for the advice, mother and sister," Vitani said before turning to her brother.

"Before I leave, what do you say me and you go on a hunt together Kovu?"

"I'd love that sister. I hope you don't mind me and her hunting alone together, Kiara."

"Not at all, my love. Spend as much time as you need, who knows when or if you two will see each other again."

"Thanks for being so understanding Kiara."

With that, the two remaining offspring of Zira left the den and set off into the pridelands.
