"Okay, guys," Anne Maria said. "I know that this is gonna take longer than I thought."

"I can tell," Sam said. "What are you thinking?" Cameron asked.

"We will take a break after this episode," Anne Maria answered. "Which by the way is Finders Creepers, but possibly not going to be Brick's favorite."

"Why Brick?" Mike asked.

"Yeah," Brick said.

He then realized why.

"Oh boy," he said. "Tell me you guys won't laugh, okay?"

The others agreed. The first scene after the intro takes place at night. In fact, the whole episode is taking place at night. While everyone is sleeping, Dawn is shown meditating in the cabins where she is approached by a butterfly.

"Has anyone said that some of you look cute when you sleep?" Sam asked.

"Several of them couldn't help but blush.

"I was dreaming of owning my own hair salon," Anne Maria said.

"I felt safer in my dream bubble than I did out on the island," Cameron said.

"Maybe one day, the dream of Chris finally going back to jail will come true for all of us," Mike said.

The others were in agreement.

Dawn: What's that little one? Evil is lurking? Let me guess. Chris?

Dawn guessed right as an air horn was blown, waking everyone up.

Chris: Run! Run for your lives!

"What was going on?" Mike asked.

"Did the mutant beetle return?" Zoey asked.

"Were the police coming to take one of us to juvenile hall?" Scott asked.

"Was the island in an ambush?" Jo asked.

"It was almost 10 at night when that horn went off," Brick commented. "I find it uncool."

Chris shouts for them to run for their lives, to which they race outside.

Anne Maria: Out of my way!

Jo: Move it or lose it!

Mike: What's happening?

The answer to what made them run outside was Dakota, who Chris has as an intern, and thanks for the airhorn.

Dakota: *In the confessional* So, after Chris agreed to let me stay, he put a restraining order on the paparazzi, so now I'm stuck here for no reason! And now he's making me, like, work! So not cool!

"That's why we ran out of the cabins?" Jo asked.

"Someone's eardrums nearly got shattered," Brick said.

"My eardrums were shattered," Dakota said. "I couldn't even hear Sam welcoming me back."

"Thanks a lot, Chris!" Scott said.

"I agree," Cameron said.

"Me too," Dawn said. "I knew evil was lurking in the middle of the night."

The next challenge was about to begin.

Brick: What? Now? In the middle of the night? When it's all, you know, dark? *In the Confessional* Ever since I was born I hated the dark with the creaks and the 'Who's that?' and the 'Get away!' (screams)

The others couldn't help but feel bad for Brick. Every last one of them knew that the dark is why he always wet his pants.

"Maybe that wasn't something to laugh over," Jo said.

"You think?" Brick asked.

"It's alright, Brick," Cameron said. "I too was afraid of the dark as a child. It did leave me with some wet diapers, though."

"No kidding, bubble buddy," Jo said while laughing.

Cameron couldn't help but laugh along. The challenge is a scavenger hunt across the island, searching for three souvenirs hidden in a haunted forest, a pet cemetery, and a cave. The first team to each location would be given a clue to the location of the next souvenir.

"I love scavenger hunts," Dawn said.

"I've done several in middle school," Jo said.

"Great way to spend some time outdoors," Mike said.

"We should have one of our own someday," Zoey said.

"You're on," Sam said. "Hopefully, it can turn into a new online game."

Chris: Move fast and stick together. You'll be penalized for each player you lose.

"I sure wouldn't want that," Brick said.

"Me neither," Anne Maria said.

"It sucks when teams get a penalty for that," Dawn said. "Reminds me of the ridonculous race."

"I wish we got to join them," Zoey said.

"That would've been way cooler," Jo said. "Me and Heather would knock those legs out of the park."

"I would rather team up with either Justin or Leshawna," Anne Maria said. "That girl's my favorite from seasons 1 and 3."

"That race would've been glorious to be in," Dakota said.

Cameron: Um, what does the spider represent?

Chris: Oh yeah, there's some kind of gigantic mutant spider sort of running around loose on the island.

This sent goosebumps down the spines of everyone except Dakota, who still couldn't hear a thing.

Cameron: *Confessional* I have a severe case of arachnophobia! Spiders are just so creepy. Literally, anything with that many legs must be evil. (shudders, screams at nearby spider)

"Okay," Sam said. "Some think regular spiders are bad enough, but mutant spiders?"

"I'm nervous about that," Zoey said.

"I got you," Mike said, wrapping Zoey in a comforting hug.

"Thanks," Zoey said to him.

Mike then decided to do the same with Brick and Cameron, which he nonverbally motioned everyone else into doing.

"Feel better?" Zoey asked.

Both Brick and Cameron nodded.

"Maybe we should stay close together for the rest of the episode," Jo said. "I have a feeling the frights are about to be taken up a notch."

The others were in unanimous agreement.

"Yeah," Scott said. "As if the everyday shark was enough of a fright."

"I hate that asshole, Chris McClean," Jo commented.

"We all do," Zoey replied.

The rats arrived at the forest first, where Chris delivers the first clue.

Chris: Welcome to the haunted forest. Your first clue can be found at the base of the tree, in a bear trap.

However, it wasn't until after Lightning gets caught in the trap when he reveals that part.

"That had to hurt," Jo said.

"No kidding," Cameron said.

Lightning: Here creepy girl. Read the clue.

"I'm not that creepy," Dawn said.

"I can agree with that," Sam said. "I actually find most of the girls here cute."

Zoey and Dawn were 2 examples of those who blushed.

"Thanks Sam," Zoey said.

"No problem," Sam said.

Dawn gets ready to read it, but the maggots show up before Dawn could.

Lightning: Hey, find your own piece of paper!

Jo: Come on. Let the runts have their clue. I've got a plan.

The maggots follow Jo, leaving the rats behind.

"Runts?" Scott asked.

"I want to know what is up with you and all the nicknames," Anne Maria said. "Poof head?"

"Jarhead?" Brick added.

"I couldn't help it," Jo said.

Jo reveals her plan is to hide in a bush and wait for the Rats to pass by so they can follow them to the souvenir. The Maggots jump into the bush and wait for the Rats to pass by.

"Smooth plan," Mike said.

"I actually like it," Anne Maria said.

"Let's just hope no one gets separated in the process," Mike commented. "You know what happens if one team does."

The rats came by with Dawn reading the clue.

Dawn: Inside and knot is a nest. Your souvenir lives with a pest. Find Polaris to travel northwest. Polaris is the north star!

"Sweet reading, Dawn," Cameron said.

"I may not have physical strength," Dawn commented. "But I'm more of a brain."

"Just like Cameron," Scott said.

"That's true," Dakota said. "Makes you wonder who else is a brain on Total Drama."

Everyone then gets on the move northwest. Sam tries to remember the clue but needs help. He asks Dawn, only to find out she has disappeared.

Sam: We get a penalty for each lost player, right?

Lightning: And there's some kind of whacked out spider crawling around, right?

Everyone looked at Sam and nodded.

"We are so in trouble," Scott said.

"Why would Chris make that challenge at night?" Cameron asked.

"Yeah!" Brick commented. "Must one remind him that the island was full of mutated creatures wanting to kill us?"

"This is getting crazy," Mike said. "I wish Chris was here so we can pound him."

Lightning supposedly finds the knothole and climbs the tree, only to find a giant squid that slaps him and pokes him in the eye.

"Okay," Sam said. "I've seen squid before, but that is just nuts."

"This squid is just another asshole," Scott said.

"These mutated animals are a nightmare," Jo said.

"Totally embarrassing," Zoey said.

"I know," Dakota said.

Scott and Sam were able to make the squid release Lightning, but it then grabs those 2 instead.

"Nice going," Jo said.

"I told Scott he wasn't doing it right," Sam said.

"Not everything is like a video game," Scott said.

"He does have a point," Zoey said.

"I agree," Mike said.

Lightning recovers from his fall and looks angrily at the squid, which he climbs up to punch.

Lightning: No calamari does that to the lightning. Shabam!

The squid leaves, dropping Scott and Sam, and allowing Lightning to grab the key.

"That's one way to get the job done," Sam said.

"That was smooth," Scott said. "Glad we never saw that squid again."

Then, a web grabs Lightning and yanks it away. Scott tells Sam to continue on now that they have the key, but he reminds Scott that 2 players are missing.

"He's right," Dawn said. "The rules did mention getting penalties for every player that went missing."

"None of us have forgotten about that," Cameron said.

"I agree," Dakota said.

Scott and Sam decide to walk off as the maggots show up.

Sam: Maybe we should search for the object way over there with the rest of our teammates. Cause it's not just the two of us.

"Nice try, Sam," Mike said. "We know you lost 2 players."

"Smooth move you made Sam do, Scott," Jo said.

"I knew it!" Sam said. "I knew it! I knew it!"

"You totally should've looked for the others," Cameron said.

After spotting the team colors on the tree bark, believing that's where the first souvenir is hidden. Jo suggests sending in their teams' most expendable player.

Brick: No one's expendable.

Jo: Do you want to play nice, or do you want to win?

"Sometimes, playing nice does lead to winning the game," Sam said.

"Not on Total Drama, it doesn't," Mike said. "You should've known that after being on the show for 2 seasons."

"I agree," Anne Maria said. "Even my villainous side was exposed, despite not being a villain."

"I had to unleash a bit of mine too," Cameron said.

"Chris never lets teams play nice all the time," Zoey said.

Jo throws Cameron into the tree and he grabs the key. Unfortunately for Cameron, his fun feeling quickly turns into fear after seeing another spider, forcing him to throw the key to Zoey and Mike's feet.

Mike: Sweet! Nice work Cam.

"Thanks," Cameron said. "I just wish that spider wasn't there."

"Okay!" Dakota said. "How many spiders were on the island anyway?"

"It was about 2 or 3 so far," Zoey said.

"Knowing Chris," Anne Maria said. "There was probably more."

"No kidding," Sam said.

Zoey: *Confessional* Mike is so sweet! The way he's always encouraging Cameron is totally cool! The way he's always going into character is totally weird, but hey, nobody's perfect, right?

"Right," everyone else said to Zoey.

"Everyone has at least one flaw," Sam said.

"Lack of physical strength is mine," Dawn said.

"I guess the nickname thing is one of mine," Jo said.

Mike: *Confessional* Zoey, oh, she is all I think about, at least when I'm the one in control. (chuckles awkwardly)

Everyone gave slight giggles about that.

"We know, Mike," Dawn said.

Zoey and Mike gave each other another hug.

"We really are made for one another," Mike said.

"I couldn't agree more," Zoey said before kissing him.

The others busted out in awe, making the kissing pair blush. Just as Mike grabs the key, a web grabs Zoey and yanks her away. This scares Mike to the point where he runs off to find her, remembering what will happen if his teammates disappear. However, Jo wants the team to continue with the challenge, which Brick goes against.

Brick: That's against the cadet code! Never leave a soldier behind. Mike: Zoey!

"See," Brick said. "Mike understood. It's like he and Zoey were meant to stick as one body."

"In addition," Mike added. "Did you guys forget what Chris told us will happen if we keep losing our teammates?"

"You really wanted to focus on the challenge, didn't you?" Zoey commented.

"Maybe I did forget a little," Jo said.

"A little?" everyone else asked.

Jo then commented, "all you need to know is that I did and I'm sorry. Now I see why Brick is so committed to that code."

"We all do," Sam said.

Jo: We're not leaving her. She left us. That means she's AWOL. Now move it GI Joke.

Brick: *Confessional* Jo is like this bug. She's always trying to get under my skin. (The bug literally goes under Brick's skin).

"It was supposed to be an expression," Brick said.

"At least you learned not to act like a bug as much," Cameron said.

"Let's hope that bug wasn't mutated either," Dawn said.

"I agree," Mike said. "Meanwhile, I'm still worried about where Zoey ran off to."

Sam and Scott run into a forest with Sam asking if they should go faster.

Scott: I know what I'm doing. *Confessional* I'm heading us back into last place where we belong. Another elimination ceremony for the Rats and it's bye-bye Sam… or Lightning. I can't decide. I'm like a kid in a candy store full of suckers. (chuckles) And I'm gonna, uhm, like, break 'em and stuff.

"That's what you came up with?" Mike asked.

"I didn't know what else to say?" Scott answered. "I wasn't that much like a kid, unlike some people."

"Hey!" Cameron said, feeling offended.

"I didn't mean you," Scott said. "Did you want me to?"

Everyone shook their heads no.

"Didn't think so," Scott said.

Sam and Scott come across a minefield. While trying to show off some energy, Sam sets all the mines off, leaving him burnt.

"Ooh!" Everyone winced.

"That had to hurt," Dakota said.

"I was okay," Sam said.

"I'm still surprised he isn't dead," Cameron commented.

"Me too," Anne Maria said.

The maggots run past, leading them to the pet cemetery because a pathway is assumed to be clear, which Scott thanks Sam for doing.

"You're welcome," Sam said. "What? Just because I wasn't on the maggots' team, doesn't mean I can't show what a friend I can be?"

"You sure acted like one to us," Anne Maria said.

"I agree," Cameron said. All of the maggots gave Sam a hug.

"Thanks," Sam said.

"No problem," Brick said.

Cameron is sent to get the clue but finds a bunch of numbers.

Cameron: Aren't 3 6s supposed to be evil?

"Usually," Dawn said. "But maybe the toxic waste had an effect on that too."

"I would sure be glad when that's over," Jo said.

"I agree," Mike said. "Back then, it must have been an hour since Zoey was last with us."

"This is really creepy," Cameron said.

While searching for more numbers, Brick falls into a grave that Jo rescues him from.

Brick: *Screams* Help! Help! Too dark, too dark!

Jo: Brick! Take my hand!

Brick: *Panting* So dark. So dark.

Jo: *Slapping Brick* Pull yourself together.

"Thanks," Brick said.

"For what?" Mike asked. "Pulling you out or slapping you in the face."

"I thought it would be a mixture of both thanks to Jo," Brick answered.

"You're welcome," Jo said. "That's the last time I make fun of anyone scared of the dark."

Brick: Wh- It was wet down there. I landed on my crotch. I gotta go dry off.

"We know you wet your pants down there," Mike said.

"Sorry about the lie," Brick said.

"This is getting way too out of hand," Dakota commented.

"I know," Scott said.

Brick went to dry off. However, while drying himself he is grabbed by the spider.

"Great," Anne Maria said. "Another one lost. We're so penalized."

"At least you didn't get the worst end of the stick," Sam said. "I got burned going through that minefield.

Cameron: He was just here a second ago.

"What do you think happened?" Dawn asked. "Oh wait. Probably the same thing that happened to me."

"You think so?" Mike asked.

"It's possible," Zoey said.

"Either way, I'm getting even more goosebumps," Scott said.

Jo: Ah well, two words. Dead weight.

Anne Maria: Hey! Brick may not be attractive in any way, but he is still a person.

"You tell 'em Anne," Mike said, giving Anne Maria a high 5.

"Thanks," Brick said. "I don't get why everyone thought you were so villainous in this season."

"I know," Anne Maria said. "Now, everyone enjoys me."

"I can see why," Dawn replied. "Must be amazing."

Mike was in agreement because of Jo's attitude.

Jo: It's called a winning attitude. Get used to it or get out of the way.

"Oh, we're used to it alright," Mike said.

"Not all winning attitudes are worth having," Dawn said.

"I agree," Cameron said. "It was starting to get a bit annoying."

Meanwhile, Fang returns and chases Scott, who knocks Sam into one of the graves.

"Not cool," Sam said.

"Blame Fang," Scott said. "You know he's always looking for trouble when I'm around."

"We're aware," Jo commented.

Dakota comes over to release more kitchen grease when it is found that some splashed on Sam.

Dakota: Sam?

Sam: Dakota: How's it going?

Dakota: Sorry for the booby trap. Chris made me fill it with kitchen grease. That's what must be attracting these giant maggots.

"Okay!" Mike said. "That's totally unfair!"

"You're telling me," Dakota said. "I almost felt like apologizing."

"Was Chris paying you to do that?" Cameron asked.

"No," Dakota said. "When I said yes to helping Chris, I didn't mean like that."

Everyone couldn't help but feel bad for what Dakota had to put up with.

"You didn't deserve any of that," Anne Maria said.

All of them wrapped Dakota in a comforting hug, which she thanked the others for.

The maggots tickled Sam before getting a little rough. Dakota, upon seeing the situation, feels bad and leaves.

"You know I still needed help, right?" Sam asked.

"Sorry Sam," Dakota said. "It just wasn't my day, or night in this case.

Chris: Will anyone make it to the spooky cave, and if so, how can they possibly make it all the way to the finish line? Less brain, more pain when we return.

"I wonder what will happen next?" Cameron asked.

"I don't care about that anymore," Mike said. "I just want my Zoey back."

"This is getting really scary," Sam said.

"I'm getting the most terrified," Brick said. "And it's not even dark."

Stay tuned for part 2. After that, it's the first snack break.
