Linda and Robert walked out of the barber and looked towards the door.
"There, is that better, sweetie?" Linda asked.
Lilith walked out, her usual, thick, curly hair, was now short, wavy, shoulder length. She decided that she didn't want her hair dyed, so she kept it the normal dark orange color.
"How do I look?" Lilith asked.
"Beautiful." Robert said.
Lilith blushed, not used to compliments.
"Now, let's go get you clothes to go with your new haircut." Linda said.
"Okay... mom." Lilith said.
The two smiled at their new daughter and proceeded to go into the clothes section.
"Now, what do you usually like to wear?" Linda asked.
Lilith went around the section looking at the clothes. She found a few dresses, a some shirts and tights, and denim. Lots and lots of denim.
"Nice to see that denim is making a comeback." Robert said, "In my dad's age, they wore denim a lot, smoked the best cigars, and drank all American beer."
"Robert, that was a lot different, people worked long hours in factories for little pay." Linda said, "Keep looking around, Honey."
Lilith kept going through the clothes and she reached for a jacket. Someone else grabbed it at the same time and they locked eyes. Lilith felt her heart skip a beat when she saw the girl in front of her.
"Oh, sorry." The girl said.
"It's fine." Lilith said, "I-I-I'm Lilith."
"Nice to meet you, I'm-"
"Mija, did you make a new friend?"
The girl turned around and saw her mom behind her.
"She's beautiful." The girl's mom said, "I'm Sofia. Sofia Noceda, and this little melocotón is my daughter Camila."
"It's nice to meet you. I-I-I'm Lilith. Lilith Clawthorne."
"Sofia, is that you?" Linda asked.
"Linda, I haven't seen you in a long time." Sofia said, "How's Robert?"
"He's good, how's Enrique?"
"Oh, stubborn as always." Sofia said, "Can't seem to understand that we can just call someone to fix the stair railing. Still, I can't help but love him for wanting to help around the house."
"Well, that's good." Linda said, "I see you've met my daughter, Lilith."
"Ah, I see you decided to adopt. We should talk somewhere else; it seems our daughters were having a conversation."
The two friends walked away, leaving the teens to talk.
"So, it was Camila, right?" Lilith asked.
"Sí, it's nice to meet you Lilith." Camila said, "I'm just here shopping for clothes. Some of mine are a little ruined after a field trip."
"Well, I think the jacket would look good on you." Lilith said.
"Eh, I just wanted to look at it. There was no way I could pay for something like that out of my pocket." Camila said, "Well, it was nice to meet you, maybe we'll see each other around."
"I... I would like that."
"Well, my school lets out for summer in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll see you over the summer."
With that, Camila walked off to reunite with her mom. Lilith looked at the jacket, she thought Camila would look nice in it. It was at this moment, Lilith realized... she likes Camila.
