A few months later, the beginning of July. Lilith was sleeping when her mom called her.

"Lilith! Someone's on the phone!" Linda said.

Lilith groaned as she got up and stretched. She walked downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning sleepy head." Linda said, "I left the phone off the hook."

Lilith walked over to the landline and grabbed the phone.

"Hello?" Lilith asked, still half asleep.

"Hi, Lilith."

Lilith woke up.

"H-h-hi, Camila." Lilith said, "What... what can I do for you?"

Linda chuckled as she did the dishes. She knew Lilith was gay and had a crush on Camila, it was fairly obvious.

'Reminds me of myself when I met her father.' Linda thought, 'Oh, boy, I couldn't think straight when I was near him.'

"Well, the Fourth of July is this Monday, I was wondering if you wanted to watch the fireworks with me?" Camila asked.

"I... I would love to." Lilith said, "I'll... see you then."

Lilith hung up the phone and sat at the table. She put her head on the table and groaned. Linda put waffles in front of her.

"Should I buy you a pride flag?" She asked, trying to not laugh at her daughter.

Lilith sat up and was as red as a brick.

"Mom, what do I do?"

"Be honest, do you love Camila?"

"Yes."

"Then go for it." Linda said, "Camila is a sweet girl, she would be honored to date a girl like you."

"Do you really think I have a chance with her?"

"I do. You're a smart, beautiful, and caring girl, anyone that can't see that doesn't deserve you."

"Mom?"

"Yes, Honey?"

"What's the Fourth of July?"

"Oh, right, you don't know. I'm going to need to get you signed up for school. That alone will take a while." Linda said, "The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a holiday in the United States, which is where we are, that was made after the founding fathers declared their independence from Great Britian."

Lilith just nodded, not understanding half of what her mom just said, but getting enough to know that it's a holiday. This made her even more nervous now. Camila wants to hang out with her, on a holiday! Lilith was so nervous that she was sweating.

"Lilith, it's Thursday, you have until Monday night. Just calm down and eat your waffles before they get cold." Linda said, "I got the Blueberry syrup, I know how much you like it."

Lilith had to admit, her mom knew exactly what to do in order to calm her down.
