Lilith let out a nervous breath. Today was a very big day, after all, it's not every day you graduate from Harvard as the Valedictorian.
"There's my baby girl!" Linda said, walking up to Lilith.
"Mom, I'm in my twenty seven, I'm not some little girl." Lilith said.
"No, you'll always be my little girl." Linda said, "Now, after your ceremony, we'll go out and have our own little celebration."
"And I'm sure there's someone else that wants to talk to you." Robert said, pointing to the other side of the room.
Lilith turned around and saw Camila, which made Lilith smile. She walked over to Camila and the two shared a kiss. It's been around ten years since they started dating and they've shared a lot of firsts, from first kisses to first dates, to even their first time having sex when they turned 18.
"So, are you excited about this?" Camila said.
"Not as excited as you're going to be." Lilith said.
Camila was confused but didn't get to ask about it before Lilith was called by the University President. The ceremony began and Lilith was introduced to give her Valedictorian Speech. Lilith walked up to the podium and smiled.
"It is my honor to welcome you to the Harvard Graduating Class of 1998." Lilith said, as she looked at the crowd, "What, is it the ears?"
The crowd laughed at Lilith's joke, and she continued.
"Now, spending almost a decade here, getting my PhD, I've made many friends and memories." Lilith looked at Camila in the front row along with her parents, "And, before we say goodbye to this place and move on with our lives, I would like to make one more."
Lilith grabbed the microphone and walked to the edge of the stage.
"Camila, Mi amor, you've put up with me far longer than anyone should. You been by my side ever since we were teenagers, and there's no one I would rather have by my side as I go into the unknown." Lilith reached into her graduation gown and pulled out a box, "Camila..."
She got on one knee.
"Will you marry me?"
Camila looked at the ring and gasped. Lilith moved the microphone towards Camila, who looked like she was about to cry in joy.
"Yes!" Camila said, "Yes, I will marry you!"
Lilith put the ring on Camila's finger and the two kissed. The crowd cheered and Lilith and Camila separated.
"I love you, Cami."
"And I love you too, Lily."
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am going to say this. I am on my bed, trying not to cough up my lungs with Covid, barely able to keep my eyes open, and I am in a constant state of feeling like death. I am in no mood to talk right now. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
