A/N: Hey everyone, this follows the movie pretty closely, but next chapter, there is a time skip and a completely original story arc begins!
Haley sat there on the cold pavement. Staring at one of her long-time friend's corpses. She could see who she thought was James got up and left her side, but she didn't feel him go. He shouted, or at least that's what it looked like in her peripheral, he even fired his blaster, but she couldn't hear it. She saw that everyone froze, but she didn't care.
She could only reminisce about her, James, and Harry. One time they all went to a lakehouse that James' parents owned. They invited everyone they knew and brought a couple of kegs. She drank way too much, and James was trying to make sure nothing broke. Haley was throwing up in the bathroom, but Harry was there with her holding her hair back and coaxing her.
She finished. "...Thanks…" he nodded and gave a soft smile. "Of course. You know I'd do anything for you." she leaned into him, and he embraced her gently. He guided her to James' bedroom and tucked her into bed. She turned to him. "I'm sorry…" she whispered to him with tears in her eyes. He wiped away a tear that escaped her eye. "Don't apologize. I'm just glad you're alright." he smiled. He turned off the lamp next to her bed and closed the door behind him.
She found herself in a dark room with a dim red glow coming from the ceiling and a matching glow from the floor. The room was cold and all black. She sat on a cold black bench. She couldn't get her surroundings just yet. She thought she was dreaming because she didn't remember arriving at the room.
She was ripped out of her thoughts when the wall in front of her opened up, and three people stood outside the door. Two tall men dressed in white armor with a blaster rifle in their hands. In between the two men stood a woman. She had pale skin with brown hair. Her hair had two braids in it that were shaped into donuts, one on each side of her head. She wore a silky white dress.
The two armored men gave the woman a shove into the room and shut the door behind her. She walked over to the bench and sat next to Haley. Haley, of course, backed away and looked at her with caution.
The woman looked over at her. "So is this the part where we exchange the how and why we are in here?" she smirked. Haley was silent for a moment and sat down. The woman eyed her for a moment. "So what happened?" Haley looked at her, confused. "What makes you think somethings wrong?" The woman took a deep breath and spoke. "Well, because I have been where you were, and it's written on your face. The look of fear mixed with regret." Haley stayed silent.
The two's conversation was cut short when the door opened once more. One man in white armor appeared and took a step inside. The woman next to her eyed him. "Aren't you a little short to be a Stormtrooper?" the man tilted his head. "Huh? Oh, the uniform," he took off his helmet, revealing a tan young man with brown hair and blue eyes. He threw the helmet to the side. "I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you," the woman got up, as did Haley. "You're who?" Haley asked. The young man looked her up and down. Haley couldn't help but turn her body away from him a bit to try and escape his gaze. She felt her face heat up a bit. The man turned his attention back to the woman. "I'm here to rescue you. I have your R2 unit. I'm here with Ben Kenobi," the woman's eyes lit up. "Ben Kenobi? Where is he?" the man signaled them to follow, and they both did so.
They ran out the door and were met by another man in white armor without a helmet. He had a definite jawline and brown hair with matching eyes. She was almost knocked on her but when she bumped into a sasquatch.
"We can't get out that way," the new man told us. "Good job, you blocked our only escape route," the woman replied. The man turned towards her. "Maybe you'd like it back in your cell, Your highness," before she could hand out a proper rebuttal, they were interrupted by a stray blaster bolt that hit the wall behind them just above their heads, causing them all to scatter and hug the wall in an effort to escape the incoming fire.
Luke held up a small device to his mouth. "C3PO. C3PO. Are there any other ways out of the cell block we've been cut off!" Luke continued to argue with whoever was on the other side of the microphone.
A few moments passed, and Luke yelled. "There isn't any other way out!" The sasquatch roared, startling Haley. Luke and the other man kept shooting at the Stormtroopers. The man spoke up. "I can't hold them off forever. Now what?". "Well, this is some rescue. When you came in here, didn't you have a plan on getting out?" the woman chimed in. "He's the brains, sweetheart!" the man snapped back.
The woman grabbed Luke's gun and shot a vent right next to me. She crossed the hallway and shot towards the Stormtroopers and then threw the gun back to Luke. "Into the chute, flyboy!" she yelled. She leaped into the garbage chute. The sasquatch walked over but was hesitant. It argued with the man, but the man kicked him down there. Haley walked over to it and was also hesitant. Luke spoke up. "It's ok. You'll be fine," he reassured her. She complied and climbed into the chute.
She found herself drenched in sewage water. She looked around and saw everyone searching for a way out. The man shot at the door, and the blaster bolt ricocheted off the walls, and it grazed Haley's arm. She grabbed her arm and winced at the burn.
The woman yelled. "Put that thing away before you get us all killed! You already hurt her!" the man turned to her. "Look, I had everything under control before you led us down here, and also, who even is she anyway?". Haley marched over to him and smacked him across the face. "Would you shut up! All you've shown is how stupid you are! What a great plan, let's go guns blazing into a jail and then shoot a gun in a confined space with five other people!" she yelled. She turned away from him and walked to the other side of the room. The woman spoke in a low voice. "I like her."
They all froze as they heard a roar. The man spoke. "What was that?" Luke replied. "Somethings alive in here." just then, a slimy tentacle wrapped around Haley's leg and dragged her under the water. She tried to swim up but another tentacle wrapped around her neck and arm. She desperately fought her way back up to the surface. She broke through the surface, and Luke grabbed her while the man shot at the tentacles holding her. They slipped off of her, and Luke held her. "Thanks, Han," Luke said. "So that's his name. Still an asshole." she thought.
Just when they all thought they were out of the woodwork, the metal walls began to close in on them. They all panicked and ran and pushed on the walls to try and prevent them from being crushed. Han grabbed a pipe and propped it up in between the walls.
Luke grabbed his microphone again and spoke to someone. She couldn't hear over the sound of the metal creaking. The pipe Han used had finally given way. Haley tried to get atop the trash pile, but her left foot slipped and got stuck between some sheets of metal. Her breathing became rapid when she couldn't pull her foot out of the trash.
The walls kept closing in, and she screamed as she felt the cold metal pierce her trapped foot. She could hear Luke screaming at whoever he was talking to on the microphone. Finally, the walls stopped moving. Everyone cheered except for Haley, whose foot was still stuck under the metal. The sasquatch came over and pulled the metal apart, which freed her foot. "Thanks, sasquatch." Haley voiced. He growled softly in response. "Call him Chewie." Luke chimed in. she tried to walk on her foot, but it gave out every time. Chewie roared and stared at her. "He's asking if you want him to carry you," Han told her. She nodded, and he knelt down, and she got on his back.
They all stood outside of the trash room in a smaller room. Han and Luke changed out of the armor and revealed their normal clothes. Luke wore a long sleeve white shirt with matching pants. Han wore a tan long sleeve with an open black vest with matching pants. They both kept the utility belt from the armor along with the blaster.
An alarm went off, which scared Chewie. He sprinted out of the room and into the hallway. The three followed them throughout the hallway. Haley grew tired of their seemingly endless bickering.
They all came to an intersecting hallway and saw a few Stormtroopers. Han was quick on the draw and shot a couple while the rest ran away. Haley, Chewie, and Han ran after the fleeing imperials. Han ran right into a company of Stormtroopers at parade rest. Haley and Chewie saw blaster fire from down the hall and Han sprinting back toward them. The three ran back through the hallway.
They ran through at least three major doors closing in on themselves. They finally arrived at the end of the hall and saw a starship in a hanger. "Didn't we just leave this party?" Han asked. Luke and Leia showed up just then. "What kept ya?" Han asked. "We ran into some old friends," Leia replied. "The ship alright?" Luke asked. "Seems like it if we can get to it. I just hope the old man took down that tractor beam."
A few moments go by, and all the Stormtroopers that were guarding the ship ran away. "Nows our chance go," Han told them. They all ran to the ship, but Luke broke off from the group. Haley looked over at Luke and saw him staring at an old man in a brown robe holding a silver hilt with a long blue, glowing blade. The old man looked to be fighting a taller man in all black holding a crimson blade. It was the same man from Alderaan, Vader. Chewie ran onto the ship with Haley and sat her down in the chair behind Chewie in the cockpit. Chewie began to start up the ship.
Haley suddenly felt a void grow in her heart. She couldnt place it. She felt sad, she wanted to cry, but couldnt figure out why. She heard a scream come from outside and, shortly after, blaster fire. Han ran in and sat down next to Chewie. He helped Chewie start up the ship. The ship started to fly, and they took off from the hangar. Haley was jerked back into her seat, and the cockpit was filled with a blue glow. She couldnt stop staring out the window.
They arrived on Yavin, and medical personnel met them with a stretcher. They loaded up Haley on it and took her to the med bay in the temple. Everyone else was getting ready for the big fight. Unbeknownst to them, they were being tracked, and the Death Star was hot on their tail. She was met by a medical droid and was sedated by it.
