The Invisible Hand, above Coruscant's orbit
As the battle waged outside its hanger doors, several B1 Series Battle Droids stood in the hanger doors when they heard a strange sound.
Vwoorp. Vwoorp.
The droids turned around to see a mysterious blue box appear in the center of the hanger. The droids aimed their weapons at the box as its doors opened and The Doctor stepped out, followed by Rory, wearing his Centurion uniform and Amy, who clutched a gun tightly as she eyed the droids uneasily.
"Hello, I'm The Doctor. You should run," The Doctor warned them as he clutched his screwdriver in one hand.
"Drop your weapons," One of the droids told him.
"Doctor, they won't listen," Rory pointed out and The Doctor sighed.
"Can't blame me for trying."
The Doctor then turned on the Sonic Screwdriver and gave it a whirl. Several of the Droids sparked, going down as Amy fired her gun at another. Rory rushed the droids, using his sword to deflect the blast bolts from their weapons before whirling around, beheading several droids as the blast from Amy's gun destroyed the arms and upper chest of a droid. The Doctor used his screwdriver to take out as many droids as he could while Amy fired another blast and Rory beheaded a droid. Within moments, the droids were either dismantled or destroyed.
"Why do you have this kind of gun?" Amy asked as she looked down at it.
"It's a Sonic Blaster, it belonged to a friend of mine who used to travel with me," The Doctor said as he pocketed his screwdriver.
"So what now?" Rory inquired.
Before The Doctor could respond, a slight explosion rocked the hanger bay. The energy shield around it lowered and the vacuum of space rushed in. Amy stumbled forward but Rory caught her, all three gasping for breath. A steel wall began to close around the gap when two ships flew in, crashing onto the floor as the hanger was sealed.
Immediately, two people jumped from the ships. One was a man around Amy and Rory's age with dark blond, almost brown hair and blue eyes. The other was a man with blue-green eyes and auburn hair a decade or so the other man's senior.
As they took in the scene, the two men spotted The Doctor, Rory and Amy. Immediately, the two drew two cylinders, which ignited into near matching sapphire laser blades.
"Who are you?" the younger man said.
"You must be the two Jedi sent to rescue the Chancellor," The Doctor amused and the man narrowed his eyes. "I'm The Doctor. I was sent by Yoda to assist you."
The two Jedi exchanged weary glances, no doubt trying to use The Force to determine his intentions. Apparently finding no hint of deception, they extinguished their lightsabers.
"Doctor who?" the younger man said.
"Just The Doctor. These are my friends, Amy and Rory Pond," The Doctor said as he gestured to them.
"It's Williams," Rory grumbled.
"No its not," The Doctor said certainly and Rory sighed.
"No its not," Rory caved as the Jedi eyed them all oddly.
"Why are you wearing that?" the younger Jedi asked as he eyed Rory's Centurion suit oddly.
"Because he made me. I know, I look ridiculous," Rory grumbled as he looked down at himself.
"I wouldn't say that," Amy said, eying him unashamed and Rory flushed.
"Can you two at least wait until we're off the evil Jedi's spaceship?" The Doctor asked annoyed as the Jedi eyed them oddly.
"I'm Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and this is Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker," Obi-Wan introduced them and The Doctor instantly forgot his annoyance.
"It is an honor to meet you!" The Doctor exclaimed, immediately rushing forward to shake their hands.
"You as well, Doctor," Obi-Wan said, seeming to find no issue with The Doctor's odd reaction to their names.
"So, where are we on the Chancellor?" The Doctor asked as he dropped their hands.
"We were just about to try and locate him. R2," Anakin called out.
A small white and blue Droid ejected itself from one of the ships and began wheeling its way towards the wall, where it stuck a stick like accessory into a socket in the wall and began turning it.
"R2 will be able to locate the Chancellor in a moment," Obi-Wan assured The Doctor.
"Astromechs, the things they can do," The Doctor said sounding wistfully.
As Anakin and Obi-Wan made their way over to R2, Amy and Rory walked up to The Doctor, noticing he seemed a bit star struck.
"Something you want to share Raggedy Man?" Amy asked, not sure whether to be amused or annoyed.
"Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are meant to be the greatest of all Jedi, meant to usher in a new age of the Jedi Order and the Republic, bringing a new age of peace throughout the universe," The Doctor said sounding a bit in awe.
"What exactly is a Jedi?" Rory asked in confusion and The Doctor seemed to snap out of his trance.
"An order of monks essentially. They have the ability to harness the power of The Force, an energy that exists in all living things throughout the galaxy. And they use those weapons called lightsabers. Think if a Priest and a Samurai joined together and you have a Jedi," The Doctor explained. "For a thousand generations, the Jedi have served as the guardians of the government known as the Republic, acting as peacekeepers, mediators and, at times, a sort of unofficial police."
"So why are they involved in a war?" Rory wondered and The Doctor smiled tightly.
"Don't know, it's never happened before. I'll look into it once this is over. For now, we have a job to do," The Doctor said simply.
The Doctor then made his way over to Anakin and Obi-Wan, Rory and Amy followed after him. As the trio reached the Jedi, a holographic projection appeared from R2's light, with a yellow tower highlighted.
"The Chancellor's signal is coming from right there, at the observation platform at the top of that spire," Obi-Wan pointed out.
"I sense Count Dooku," Anakin said, the phantom pain in his arm being a dead giveaway.
"I sense a trap," Obi-Wan noted.
"Next move?" Anakin asked as he turned to Obi-Wan with a smirk.
"Spring the trap," Obi-Wan said with a matching smirk.
"Count Dooku is really behind this?" The Doctor asked, still processing it.
"Yes. You know him?" Anakin asked as they turned to The Doctor.
"I met him the last time I saw Yoda. He was cynical, jaded with the Jedi, but still. It is hard to believe it's the same man," The Doctor said, not really believing it.
"Dooku has been seduced by the Sith. He is a Sith Lord now," Obi-Wan said and The Doctor frowned.
"So they are still alive," The Doctor muttered.
"Unfortunately," Anakin muttered.
"What's a Sith?" Amy asked clueless.
"The enemy of the Jedi, our opposite in every way. Whereas we Jedi use the light side of The Force and wish to help, the Sith use the Dark Side and only wish to destroy, to rule," Obi-Wan explained.
"And this Dooku is one of them," Rory noted and Anakin nodded.
"We've been trying to take him down since the war started, but he's always a step ahead of us," Anakin said grimly.
"Well The Doctor's here now. He can help you stop him," Amy said certainly.
"If Yoda sent him, of this I have no doubt," Obi-Wan said as he looked at The Doctor, getting a strong feeling from him.
His presence lit up in The Force. He was not Force Sensitive, but he was powerful. Of this Obi-Wan had no doubt.
"R2, go back, wait with the ship," Anakin ordered R2 as the droid detached itself from the wall.
"Here," Obi-Wan said as he tossed R2 a Commlink. "Wait for orders."
R2 caught the Commlink with a robotic arm and gave a few indignant beeps.
"I'm sure they don't appreciate what you do for them," Amy told the droid and it chirped at her.
"You can understand him?" Obi-Wan asked in surprise.
"Can't you?" Rory asked.
"TARDIS translation matrix. Translates any language into one you'll understand," The Doctor explained before pulling out his TARDIS key. "Speaking of which."
The Doctor points it towards the TARDIS and it beeped like a car.
"Did you just, you can lock the TARDIS?" Amy asked in surprise.
"Of course. What, you think I just leave sexy lying around unprotected?" The Doctor laughed.
"That's your ship?" Anakin asked, eying the TARDIS unimpressed.
"Oh she's much more on the inside. But for now, we have a job to do. Let's go save the Chancellor," The Doctor said, a determined glint entering his eye.
I know it's not a very long chapter, but the transition into the next scene felt uneven and sloppy, so I decided to end here. The chapters will start to get long after this.
Hope you all enjoyed the interactions with Anakin and Obi-Wan.
