I apologize that it's been so long since my last update, I have a better idea of where the story is going now, so updates will be more frequent.

Jedi Temple

Morning

In Yoda's private meditation room, Yoda and Anakin sat across from each other, the room silent as Yoda waited for Anakin to speak.

"It's hard to explain Master Yoda," Anakin said awkwardly.

"Premonitions always are. Careful you must be with sensing the future Anakin," Yoda warned him.

"The last time I had a vision like this; it was of my mother's death, which came to pass. I fear…" Anakin trailed off uncertainly.

"Fear is a path to the dark side," Yoda noted. "See, what did you?"

"Ashoka. She was…in a fight. Someone was shooting at her, but I couldn't see who. Has there been any word from her or Rex?" Anakin inquired worriedly.

"Not yet reached Mandalore, have they. Possible you are seeing her upcoming mission, is it?" Yoda inquired.

"It's possible," Anakin admitted before pausing. "But I didn't just see Ashoka. I saw the Temple Master Yoda, it was in flames."

For a long moment, Yoda was silent as he digested these words.

"The temple attacked, implies this. A disturbing notion this is. But I will consult with the council, prepare for this possibility," Yoda relented. "More, did you see?"

"The Doctor. He was standing across from someone, they were dressed in a dark cloak, I couldn't see their face. But the feeling I got, I've only ever sensed it from Dooku and Ventress. But it was so much stronger Master Yoda. I think-I think this was Sidious," Anakin confessed uneasily. "The Doctor seemed to know Sidious."

"My old friend, even older than I, The Doctor is. Possible it is, he has encountered Sidious before," Yoda mused, putting hand to his chin. "Meditate at this, I will. But more to say have you?"

"Yes," Anakin admitted, remembering how his vision ended. "Sidious, he ignited his lightsaber. He was about to hurt…someone."

"Close to you, they are?" Yoda inquired and Anakin gave a slight nod. "The fear of loss leads to the dark side. Death is a natural part of life, to deny this is to deny The Force. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose."

Anakin took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He knew Yoda was only trying to help, and were he any other Jedi, Yoda's advice would help. But he was not any other Jedi; he could not shut out his emotions. He would not let his visions come to pass. The only way to truly stop them, he knew, was to find out the identity of Sidious and bring him to justice before he could harm Padme.

In the Jedi Archives, The Doctor walked inside, looking around in a bit of awe. He had never actually been here in all the time he had known Yoda. To see such a collection of knowledge was truly something.

"Excuse me? Can I help you?" an old woman inquired as she walked up to him.

"Ah, you must be Jocasta Nu. Hello, I'm The Doctor," The Doctor said with a smile, holding out his hand as Nu's eyes lit up in recognition.

"Yes, Master Yoda said you might be coming by. It is an honor to meet you," Nu said as she took his hand in a handshake. "Anything you need, just ask."

"At the moment, all I need is access to your digital records," The Doctor said as he lowered his hand to side.

"Of course. Right this way," Nu said as she led him over to one of the computers of the Archives.

Sometime later, Anakin walked into a briefing room. Obi-Wan was turning off a Holo Projector when Anakin entered the room.

"You're late," Obi-Wan said as Anakin entered the room.

"Forgive me Master. I was…held up," Anakin said lamely, not sure how to explain.

"Are you alright?" Obi-Wan asked as he turned around to face Anakin, seeing how troubled he seemed.

"Don't worry about it," Anakin dismissed him.

"Anakin, if something is troubling you, you can come to me. I know about what happened with Dooku," Obi-Wan said and Anakin stiffened.

"The Doctor?" Anakin asked lowly and Obi-Wan nodded.

"Anakin, I can't imagine the position that the Chancellor put you in," Obi-Wan said with compassion and Anakin was silent for a long moment.

"The worst part wasn't being asked to kill Dooku. The worst part was that I wanted to do it," Anakin admitted with a heavy sigh.

"But you didn't," Obi-Wan pointed out.

"Only because The Doctor was there to talk some sense into me before I made a horrible mistake. I'm not the Jedi I should be, not the Jedi you trained me to be," Anakin said, averting his gaze from Obi-Wan out of shame and Obi-Wan was silent for a long moment.

"When Master Qui-Gon was struck down by Darth Maul, I drew upon the dark side as we continued our duel," Obi-Wan admitted and Anakin looked at him in surprise. "And every time I think about what happened to Satine…I feel that rage return to me a thousand fold, that feeling of wanting to crush Maul's skull with my bare hands. I understand your feelings Anakin; we've all had similar feelings over the course of this war. What matters is our ability to control such emotions."

Anakin nodded, although he didn't full believe his old Master's words he understood that he was only trying to help. But, through their old bond, he could sense that was not all that was troubling Obi-Wan.

"Are the Outer Rim Sieges not going well?" Anakin inquired and Obi-Wan looked at him for silently before allowing the change in subject.

"No, they're going very well. The Senate is expected to vote more Executive Powers to the Chancellor today," Obi-Wan explained.

"Well that can only mean less deliberating and more action. Is that bad? It will make it easier for us to end this war," Anakin argued and Obi-Wan looked at him with an unreadable expression. "What?"

"The Chancellor has requested your presence," Obi-Wan finally said and Anakin frowned.

"What for?" Anakin asked as they began to walk up the stairs.

"He did not say," Obi-Wan said, taking Anakin aback.

"He didn't inform the Council? That's unusual, isn't it?"

"All of this is unusual. And it's making me feel uneasy," Obi-Wan said as he looked back at Anakin. "I know he is your friend, but I want you to remember what he asked you to do, and how you felt afterwards. Be careful Anakin."

Anakin looked at Obi-Wan for a moment before nodding. While before he would have dismissed Obi-Wan's suspicions, after what happened with Dooku, Anakin reasoned it couldn't hurt to be on guard a bit more around Palpatine.

Elsewhere in the Temple, Amy and Rory were wondering around aimlessly, having found some of their clothes left outside their quarters by the staff, who had said The Doctor had given it to them. They'd also passed along a message from The Doctor, telling them to explore the temple while he conducted his investigation.

"What exactly is the Raggedy Man hoping to find anyway?" Amy wondered out loud.

"Knowing The Doctor, he won't tell until he finds it," Rory pointed out logically and Amy sighed in annoyance. "Either way, I guess he'll know what he's looking for when he finds it."

Back in the Archives, The Doctor frowned, having gone over all the Intel the Archives had on Palpatine. It all seemed so straight forward, his story from humble beginnings to Senator to Supreme Chancellor. And yet there was barely any information at all on Palpatine's family or his life before going into politics.

The Doctor stared at the screen as he put a hand to his chin. Something was off here, The Doctor knew. He just hadn't figured out what yet.

Sometime later, Amy and Rory came across some children in what seemed to be a lightsaber wielding class. They had helmets over their faces with visors covering their eyes and were using their lightsabers to deflect blaster bolts fired from some rotating spheres hovering in the air as a droid instructed them.

"They let children use those laser swords?" Amy asked horrified.

"They are quite safe."

Startled, the Ponds turned around to see a green skinned women standing behind them.

"I apologize; I did not mean to startle you. We have not been properly introduced, I am Jedi Master Luminara Unduli," Unduli introduced himself.

"Amy," Amy said as she eyed her oddly.

"I'm aware. And this is your husband, Rory was it?" Unduli asked as she glanced at Rory.

"Yeah. You said they're safe?" Rory asked as they turned back to the children.

"Yes. This group is just beginning to learn how to use their lightsabers. The blasts from the droids have been turned down to the lowest setting, as have the lightsabers. They are perfectly safe," Unduli assured them.

"Why are their eyes covered?" Amy asked uneasily.

"A Jedi must learn to rely on The Force and not their senses. By shutting out their vision, the younglings are learning how to use The Force as an extension of themselves," Unduli explained.

Almost before Unduli had finished, the class seemed to end. The children deactivated their lightsabers and removed the helmets from the heads. As they began filtering out of the room, a young human girl with strawberry blond hair and light eyes looked up at Rory curiously.

"Hello," Rory said with a kind smile.

"Hello Master," the girl said politely.

"I'm not a Master, or a Jedi," Rory told the girl.

"No, you're a Healer," the girl said, surprising him. "I can sense that about you, you feel more like the healers in the hall."

"I will take that as a compliment," Rory said with a slight smile.

"Kitanni, should you not be running along to your next class?" Unduli inquired and the girl nodded.

"Yes, I should," the girl said before glancing at Amy.

To Amy's surprise, Kitanni walked up and wrapped Amy's legs in a hug.

"You seemed like you could use one," Kitanni said before letting go and walking off.

Rory looked at Amy, seeing the storm of emotions in his wife's eyes. He didn't need to read her mind to know what she was thinking or feeling, because he was thinking and feeling it himself. Kitannia bore a striking resemblance to their daughter when they had encountered her in New York.

Wordlessly, Rory took Amy in his arms and she buried her face in his shoulder, clinging to him as she began to sob into his shoulder.

"Are you alright?" Unduli asked looking concerned as she felt the powerful storm of emotions coming from the pair.

"No. No, we're not," Rory said lowly as he stroked Amy's hair soothingly.

From a distance, The Doctor watched this sadly. He'd come across the group just in time to see Kitanni give Amy a hug. Like Amy and Rory, the resemblance to Melody as a child was not lost on him. It was just another reminder of what had been taken from Amy and Rory that he could not give them back, no matter how much he wanted to.

"Doctor," Unduli said as he turned and saw him, having sensed The Doctor's presence.

"Master Unduli," The Doctor greeted politely as he made his way over, Amy detangling from Rory as they looked at him. "Permission to hug?"

"Granted," Rory said, his lips twitching slightly.

The Doctor took Amy in his arms and she buried her face in his shoulder. The unspoken 'I'm so sorry' and 'I know' passed between them slightly before they released each other.

"Find what you were looking for?" Amy asked her voice slightly gruff as she wiped her eyes.

"Not yet, but things are becoming clearer. I'm missing something, something that's staring me right in the face. I just haven't figured it out yet," The Doctor said his voice full of frustration.

"Well hopefully this time, you can figure it out before I drown," Rory said dryly and The Doctor shot him an amused look.

"The Roman jokes now," The Doctor said and Rory shrugged.

"Doctor, I was actually coming to find you," Unduli said and The Doctor looked over at her. "Master Yoda and Master Windu would like your presence in the Council Chamber."

The Doctor frowned, wondering what that was about before shrugging.

"I'll catch up with you later Ponds. Rory, ask directions to the Hall of Healing. There are Healers there that I'm sure you'd be fascinated by," The Doctor said before following after Unduli.

Sometime later, The Doctor entered the Council Chamber, seeing Yoda and Windu sitting in their seats. Rather tellingly, the rest of the Council was absent and there was a chair in the center of the room.

"Well, this is all very unusual. You wanted to speak with me?" The Doctor inquired.

"Yes Doctor. Take a seat," Windu said, gesturing to the chair in the center of the room.

"Of course, always like a good chair," The Doctor said as he sat down. "Now, what's all this about.

"Need your advice, we do my friend. Appointed Young Skywalker as his personal representative on The Council, the Chancellor has," Yoda explained and The Doctor frowned.

"Is he able to do that?" The Doctor wondered.

"With all the Executive Powers appointed to him by the Senate since the start of the war, yes," Windu confirmed.

"I…do not like that," The Doctor frowned.

"Nor do we, my friend. But sense an opportunity, we do," Yoda said and warning bells went off in The Doctor's head.

"What kind of opportunity?" The Doctor asked wearily.

"Chancellor Palpatine trusts Anakin, they are close. We are considering asking Anakin to report on his dealings," Windu explained and The Doctor was silent for a long moment.

"Spy on the Chancellor. Would that not be treason?" The Doctor inquired.

"Yes. To a dark place, I fear this is taking us. But trust the Chancellor, we do not," Yoda told him.

"Nor do I. But this is wrong my friend," The Doctor warned him.

"You yourself said this Darth Sidious is a member of The Senate. We need to know," Windu warned him and The Doctor was silent for a long moment.

"You said the Chancellor and Anakin are close. But Palpatine's recent actions have shaken Anakin's trust in him, I can tell. But I also sense Anakin has issues with the Jedi. Does he have reason to?" The Doctor inquired.

Yoda and Windu were silent as they glanced at each, remembering losing Anakin's trust by faking Obi-Wan's death and then the mess with Ashoka Tano and Barriss Offee. Seeing their answer in their faces, The Doctor thought carefully before answering.

"With Anakin's trust in both Palpatine and the Jedi in such a fragile place, it would be a mistake to ask this of him. It may sway him back towards Palpatine," The Doctor said as he got to his feet. "My old friend, the man I knew would never have even considered this. Have you lost your way so much? Have the Jedi? Remember Yoda who you once were. Remember what you and the Jedi stand for old friend. You are better than this."

The Doctor then turned and walked out, leaving the two alone. Yoda frowned, musing on The Doctor's words.

"Master?" Windu asked, sensing the turmoil in Yoda.

"Right, he is," Yoda said grimly. "Losing our way, the Jedi are. Ask this of Anakin, we will not."

Windu frowned, displeased. But Master Yoda had spoken. And as long as he was against this, the rest of the Council would be as well.

Utapau

Same time

In the communication room, Grievous was having a conversation via a Holo Message. He was holding out a small device, which showed a holographic version of The Doctor.

"He is your target. He is currently staying at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. I want him dead," Grievous hissed.

"Five thousand credits," Cade Bane demanded and Grievous laughed.

"Bring me proof of The Doctor's death, and then we can barter for the price," Grievous told him.

Not much happened this chapter I know, but it was important to set up the main plot of ROTS, although it will not go like it did in the movie.
