A/N: An explanation for anybody that has not been following Torn and a reminder for those that have.

The Tenth Doctor, along with his daughter Romana, Jack Harkness and Jackie Tyler visit Woman Wept. Unfortunately, the Ninth Doctor and Rose are there at the same time and Romana returns to the wrong Tardis, which then leaves with her on board.

The Doctor, her Doctor, should arrive soon. She clutches her Tardis key. All she has to do is wait.

Sweet, so sweet, sweet young meat but oh, so much richer. Rich golden residue ingrained in every cell.

"I'm the oldest thing in here!"

Dark, so dark. Ancient and angry, dulled and bitter but the gold is still there.

He's running. Away from something, but crucially, to something. The screeching behind him grows louder as he trips over something and hurts his ankle.

A shoe. A small purple child's shoe that doesn't get much wear because she prefers to go barefoot.

And he stands, ignoring the pain, and faces the Reaper, clutching Romana's shoe.

Same yet different. Lighter yet darker. Heavy with grief and anger; the golden pleasure hidden beneath a raw wound.

He reaches the relative safety of the church door and discovers that the Doctor is no longer beside him. He's standing stiff and straight in the middle of the road, a Reaper descending.

"Doctor!" he screams. What is he doing? This is not hopeless. Hide in the church, wait for the timeline to restore itself, try again.

He can't bear to look. He can't look away.

It's over very quickly and it swoops towards him. He blasts the door open but has to throw himself on the ground as it dives at him. It passes into the church. Screams greet its entry. There are people in there. And he just opened the door.

He picks himself up just in time to see a young blonde fall under the monster's claws.

The split-second after recognising Rose is enough for him to recognise that this is the end.

Tender, tantalising flesh. Just a teasing trace of gold. That one has it too- gone. Time is cleansed; he never existed.

She holds the lever down with all her might. The Doctor and Jack have been gone a long time and her arms are starting to ache. But she can't leave, or even let go of the lever, for then the dimensional anchor will be lost and the Tardis will be thrown out of the time wound, which will definitely be open now. They came here to stop Romana being inside a Tardis when it was thrown out of a time wound; not so she could take her place.

The lever snaps back to its original position as the weight holding it down vanishes.

We will feast.

A/N: Okay…that was strange…
