Seto tried his hardest to ignore the gossiping students around him, but he was having the worst time trying to pay attention to the teachers today. He finished his book, and he'd like to start another, but he couldn't think of which one to read next. There were too many options, currently. So he had to wait for Roland to narrow them down for him, because Roland was a good man like that.

Yugi was the talk of the town these past few weeks it seemed. The only classmate he trusted to actually tell the truth without sprucing it up into one giant hyperbole was Tea. He paid attention to her words the most.

Apparently Yugi's stunt had either scared Joey and Tristan or earned their respect. Either way, the two were now following him around. At least once a day he heard Yugi tell the two to "Fuck off.", but they stuck around. This angered Ushio enough to make his move and he caught the trio unawares in a fight with his buddies after school. In that single move, Ushio created his own downfall. Yugi had a thick chain that he was going to hang his puzzle on. He switched to rope after fighting with the teachers about bringing a weapon to school. Ushio tried to take his puzzle, and Yugi took out the chain and beat Ushio black and blue with it. Joey and Tristan took out the other guys.

That explained Yugi's currently empty seat. He was serving a week-long suspension. Suspension never made sense to him. Temporarily not going to school was a reward not a punishment, for everyone that wasn't him. Rumor was that Yugi actually wrapped the chain around Ushio's neck, but Seto didn't believe that for a second. Yugi wasn't that type of person. Was he? He hadn't heard or seen Ushio around either. He was the butt of everyone's jokes now.

He set his head in his hands, and looked straight ahead. He kept his ears open for any gossip or interesting news. Domino School was more for those who were shady and deemed uncivilized yet salvageable by society. His step-father, being equally shady yet civilized, dealt with many of his classmates' parents. So many of them probably didn't know. He did however, and that meant he had to keep his attention up for his own good.

More students piled into the room, including Joey. Joey gave him a look and nodded his head upwards. Seto mimicked the action. Joey continued to his seat, sitting normally instead of backwards like he usually did during the breaks between classes.

"Teach'll be here soon. Saw him talking with some new kid." Joey said.

"A new kid? The day is halfway over." From her tense posture, Tea was wary of them, but her calm, intense voice declared she wasn't going to be intimidated. Usually Tea did the kicking between her and Yugi when it came to Joey and Tristan.

"Pansy looking kid with brown eyes and hair white as snow." Joey folded his arms behind his head. "Said he's late 'cause he had to take care of some family business." He shrugged. "Probably called ahead or whatever."

Sure enough their math teacher entered shortly, with said student in tow. It suddenly made sense why the student was given such a leeway.

Seto immediately ducked his head, and pretended to be doing absolutely anything else. No. No. No. Fuck no. Her brother? Seriously? Her brother was the new kid!?

He closed his eyes and prayed to every deity he didn't believe in that he was not seeing this correctly. There went his peaceful school year.

"Hello. I greatly apologize for my tardiness. My name is Bakura Ryou. Please take care of me." He spoke nearly perfect Japanese. The haughty British accent marred it.

As Bakura took his seat in the middle of the room, the teacher prepared his lesson and notes. Tea took the distraction to reach forward and push Joey. Joey turned around, and looked back at her. He couldn't hear what she said, but he could imagine: 'That's not just some kid. That's Bakura Ryou. His sister is dating Noah Kaiba.'

The look of surprise on Joey's face said enough for him. Joey turned to look at Bakura so fast it made his head spin. Bakura smiled the world's most innocent smile in return.

"Wheeler, you'll have your chance to look at your new crush later. For now, eyes up front." The teacher scolded.

The classroom filled with laughter Seto ignored. He held his head in his hands. His fingers tapped against chestnut brown hair. Bakura Ryou's sister would smile that way, right before she slammed his head into the wall, locked him in a closet or tried to give him a swirly despite him having over an entire foot of height on her. Each and every time. 'We're all dead. I'm dead.'
