Warning: The story will unfortunately end in a few chapters.
After they landed on an island Shira looked for a cave for the herd and found separate caves so they decided to have their own. They laid Diego down in one and the herd left to explore the rest of the island. At least all except for one.
When the herd left, Shira put her ear in his chest again, but still heard nothing. She had tried to keep the tears in, but she couldn't hold most of them. She had laid down in the cave for a while now, just looking back at Diego and outside. She tried not to, but she kept checking to see if she could hear something, but every time she tried all she got was more tears falling.
She ignored the rumble in her stomach for two reasons, it was a new island and she had no idea where the best places to hunt and she didn't want to leave him. Night time came in pretty quickly for Shira. For the last time, she laid her head against his chest and listened.
Still nothing. She whispered "Please Diego, wake up. I don't want to lose you. Everyone's gone, we can be together… at least if you want me. I'm so sorry I left you. I'm sorry you had to go through what you did. I actually want to apologize to you, I want you to explain what happened, I want to comfort you. Please wake up. I….I love you."
She couldn't hold back the tears as she said those three words. She let it all out until she fell asleep. Little did she know, as she was sleeping, there was someone else who's chest began to rise and fall. Again and again.
It's short. I know, I know don't hate me. Just wanted to leave it in a "cliffhanger" I'm not really sure if this is one or not. Oh well. Reviews would be cool to read, but you don't need to.
