Ratchet's P.O.V.
Two weeks on medication, and Jasmine is doing much better. Now I add a fear she'll have a setback when it's time to take her off the medication. I don't think Rung's therapy sessions will be enough to keep her from having a setback. Add there's a training camp coming up.
"Perhaps it's a good thing it's been quiet," Jolt comments.
"I don't know what I'm going to do. Jasmine's case is worse than Jamie's, and we all worry about Jamie's mental state."
"The problem is Jasmine struggles to realize she's safe. I know Jamie feels like she's alone even with Crosshairs, Drift, and the rest of us, but it's not as bad as not feeling safe."
"I don't know what to do; I've shown her our security system and the guards out front. I — oh shit, I think she is terrified there's an insider who is watching her, but I haven't seen anyone who has been in almost every place as Jasmine and I."
It's the same rookies in classes with her, so I don't think it's any of them.
"Now I know how Drift feels; the struggle to not be overprotective while keeping Jasmine safe and happy," I sigh.
"Her appointment should be over soon. Go take her for a walk around the park," I didn't think Jolt would hug me as we leave my office, "she'll be ok."
Sideswipe comes with me to Rung's office to keep Jasmine occupied while I talk to Rung. He says nothing as we head to Rung's office aware Jasmine is struggling but is uncertain if he should ask about her.
"We made a mistake," I tell Rung.
"I know what you mean. It's tricky; we said a month, and it's helping, but what about after Jasmine is off the medication?" Rung agrees, "I don't think she's ready to get off the drug yet."
We agree we don't want her on medication for life, but another month might not be enough — even with everything else we're doing to try to help her.
We like seeing Jasmine smile as she talks to Sideswipe. I invite him to join us on our walk. It's good Jasmin is choosing to spend time with others. It's a problem when she spends time with Sunstreaker. Glad he's keeping his distance from her.
Jasmine's P.O.V.
Sideswipe is fun to be around, just like all those years ago — but of course, this has to be ruined with memories of being here with my family and how now my sister wants me dead. Both mechs tell me I'm safe with them, but I need to go home.
Both mechs try to help me when we get back to Ratchet and mine's room. The only good thing here is Ratchet isn't scolding Sideswipe. Both hate that I'm trembling as they try to get me to relax.
Things get worse when she walks into the room. I'm not safe at all.
"Easy, it's Arcee," Ratchet says as I try to break free from his grip, "hold on to her; I'll be right back."
"Ratchet, wait!" Sideswipe yells as Ratchet runs out of the room.
I struggle to breathe as she gets closer.
Sideswipe's P.O.V.
I thought she was doing better on medication. This is as if she's not on any medication, as if we thought we didn't need to do anything to treat her fear. It's scary hearing Jasmine have a hard time getting air in before her eyes close and her limbs are convulsing. Arcee and I watch, horrified.
Ratchet rushes in, horrified.
"Out of my way!" He yells.
He sits by Jasmine, hating what he's watching her go through.
What the hell is going through your mind, Jasmine? You're safe; we will protect you.
I don't know what not to like more; Jasmine's crying when she wakes up or Ratchet's terrified expression. We may differ from other military branches, but there's a point we decide to discharge a soldier. I know it's been Jasmine's fear since she woke up from the coma, and I think now Ratchet is afraid he's going to have to tell his girl she can't work in the medbay or serve in N.E.S.T.
Ratchet waits ten minutes before showing the injection he was going to give Jasmine.
"This will help you," he explains before injecting and hugging Jasmine.
Things can't get any worse...
Third-person P.O.V.
The guard walks down the hall as he always does at midnight, though all the inmates are asleep until he walks by a cell.
"Yes, now we begin phase two of the plan," he hears the inmate say.
Before the guard can open the cell door, a large explosion shakes the building. The door that the guard was trying to open flies to the other side of the hallway. The guard knocked out immediately upon impact. No one else is around to sound the alarm that an inmate was just broken out of prison.
"Who are you?" The freed inmate asks the woman who stands before her.
"An alley; you might not know it, but we have a common enemy while pursuing our own targets; the Autobots."
The inmate feels they've met this woman a long time ago but can't remember specifics. They brush that to the side for now. The two humans watch the two Decepticons blow up the prison before taking the humans to the hideout to plan the next step in their attack. The other woman is eager to help though her target is not in this dimension at the moment.
The Autobots and Lennox watch the news report early the next morning, horrified at what they're watching, and knowing who the inmate is, who helped them and who their target is — but they don't know there's more than one human enemy or what the plan is.
They agree to keep this under wraps, but nothing else changes.
