Hi everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the last chapter. I am hoping to post a chapter to each story once a month, at least for my Hawaii Five 0 and Hobbit stories. My Yugioh ones are going to take a little longer while I try and find inspiration for those. I am not giving up on them it may just take longer.

Anyway enjoy this chapter.

~~∞∞Ω∞∞~~ Chapter 17 ~~∞∞Ω∞∞~~

"Well we knew you weren't going to be doing anything today so we thought we would come keep you company. I know Dwalin wouldn't be much company." Bofur said with a smirk making Dwalin glare at him. "Now where is the little hobbit? I would have thought he would like his present?"

Bofur could see that Frodo was trying to keep himself hidden from Dwalin so he was trying to distract him. Bilbo looked down at where Frodo was beside him and saw his head snap from looking at Dwalin to looking at Bofur and ran over and stood in front of him, hands behind his back.

"There is he. I thought you disappeared on us."

"Nwo."

"No? Ok. Here you go Frodo."

Frodo took the parcel and sat on the ground and opened the paper carefully. Dwalin grabbed Bilbo under the arm and helped him over to the bed and let him lie down before standing there watching Frodo. Bilbo moved to the middle of his bed so he could see Frodo better.

"Dwalin sit down." Bilbo said and Dwalin looked at him before sitting down slightly on the bed. "So, did Ori come and see you last night?" Dwalin frowned at the question, not understanding how Bilbo knew about Ori.

"Yes he did."

"So?"

"So?" Dwalin asked since he didn't understand where the conversation was going.

"Did he ask you something?"

"Aye."

"Did you agree?"

"What do you know Baggins?"

"What did Ori ask you?" Bilbo countered making Dwalin glare at him.

"He asked if he could help clean my axes."

"Oh that's wonderful. What did you say?"

"What do you think I said? I said yes."

"Congratulations Dwalin. I have been pushing Ori for a while now. He was so nervous to come see you."

"I know and that's why I didn't approach him."

Bilbo smiled and looked over seeing Frodo climbing on the bed and crawling over, carefully holding something. Frodo looked at Dwalin and tried to keep as far from him as possible before holding out what he was holding to Bilbo. It was a little wooden dragon.

"It's wonderful Frodo, did Bifur and Bofur make it for you."

"Yeawh. Itw's coowl."

"It is cool. Want to show Dwalin?" Bilbo said trying to get him to not be scared of Dwalin.

Frodo looked up at Dwalin who was sitting very straight on the bed near Bilbo. He was in awe of Dwalin's fighting skills but he was a little intimidating. Dwalin's eyes shifted from Bilbo to Frodo and he continued to watch him. Frodo shakily moved a little closer and held out his toy dragon to him. Dwalin reached out and carefully took it from Frodo and looked it over before turning slightly towards Bifur and Bofur who were carving away at wood again.

"This seems to resemble Smaug, Bofur."

"Of course, who did you think I was going to copy?"

Dwalin glared at him before he looked at the toy and his gaze softened before handing it back to Frodo who was watching him carefully. Dwalin held it back out to Frodo who took it back.

"They did very well. It's a real likeness to the dragon we fought here."

Frodo's eyes widened and he turned to look at Bilbo who nodded. Frodo looked back at the toy and turned it over looking at it again, taking in all the details. Dwalin decided to try and make the boy a little less frightened off him.

"So yesterday you said you wanted to learn to fight, is that true?" Dwalin ask and Frodo looked up at him and nodded quickly. "Would you like me to teach you?" Frodo nodded again. "You will need to speak with me lad if I am to teach you. I don't bite." Dwalin said and Frodo shrunk back a little.

"Sowrry." Frodo said softly.

"It's alright. But I'm not going to bite you if you say something. How about later today when Thorin has finished with the meetings I take you down to the training area?"

"Can Unwcle Biwbo come?"

"He could but Bilbo isn't meant to be walking today. He really needs to rest."

"Frodo, can we come watch you?" Bofur spoke up.

Frodo looked over and nodded before quickly looking to Dwalin to make sure it was alright. Dwalin nodded and looked over at Bilbo.

"If it's alright with your uncle of course."

"It's fine with me Dwalin. Frodo, why don't you go see what Bifur and Bofur are carving now."

Frodo nodded and scurried off the bed, carefully looking after his dragon. Bilbo sighed and looked at Dwalin who was watching him.

"You alright?"

"Yeah Dwalin. Thankyou. I don't know why he is so nervous around everyone. I hate to think what my cousins did to him in the short amount of time he was there. If his parents hadn't of died and you went through the Shire. He would be slightly nervous of you but more intrigued than anything. He would ask you heaps of questions as to what the tattoos mean or where the scars came from. He would not be like he is with you now."

"It will come I'm sure. Don't worry. He'll be alright. Everyone in the company will make sure. You sure you're alright with me taking him."

"Dwalin, I trust you. Just promise me it won't be swords or anything like that?" Dwalin just laughed at him.

"No nothing like that. I'll show him hand to hand to start. He's too young and with you being Thorin's soon to be Consort, he best know how to defend himself properly. You as well once you have this babe and have recovered. No I'll show him ways to get away from people. All purely self-defence." Bilbo sighed. "We would only train him in use of a sword or anything sharp with your permission and when he is older."

"Thankyou Dwalin."

"I will show him a few things though if someone has a knife or sword but he won't be holding or anywhere near one. And it would only be wood. Bofur is going to help me with that." Dwalin said with a smirk.

"I'm what now?" Bofur spoke up hearing his name.

Bilbo laughed at the look on his face and smiled at Dwalin.

"That's alright with me. As long as it's not real."

"I swear Bilbo."

Bilbo nodded and yelped hearing a loud crash and then a sharp kick to his stomach making him curl over. Dwalin grabbed his shoulder watching him intently.

"Bilbo?"

"I'm alright. Go check on Thorin."

"Bilbo I'm meant…"

"Go, Bofur and Bifur are here and it's the royal wing. Go!"

Dwalin hesitated for a few seconds before getting up and walking out the door as Bifur and Bofur sat on the bed with Frodo and Bilbo. Frodo looked at Bilbo worriedly as Bilbo smiled at him. Frodo moved over and settled beside him and Bilbo wrapped him in close. Bilbo winced at another kick as Bofur watched him carefully.

There was another loud crash and shouting and Bilbo had enough. He let go of Frodo and moved to the edge of the bed and climbed to his feet as Bifur grabbed his arm to help him and then stayed beside him.

"Bilbo where are you going?" Bofur asked.

"To see what is going on and try to stop it."

"Bilbo it could be dangerous."

"No more dangerous that hearing it and receiving painfully kicks."

Bilbo almost stumbled at another kick and would have fallen if Bifur wasn't beside him. Bifur muttered something Khuzdûl making Bofur agree before Bilbo was held around the waist and Bifur led him out. They reached Thorin's chambers and saw the door still open and shouting going on inside. Bilbo pushed the door the rest of the way and saw Thorin and Dain in each other's faces shouting in Khuzdûl. Fili and Kili were holding Dain back and Dwalin holding Thorin back. Balin and Dis were also trying to calm them down but that wasn't working.

Bilbo let out a cry at a sharp kick to his ribs and crumpled in Bifur's hold. Bilbo heard silence before he heard Dwalin let out a grumble and then he saw Thorin's hands on his stomach and then one left to lift his head up to look at him. Bilbo let out a small smiled as Thorin took his weight and led him over to the bed and sat him down and knelt in front of him.

"Bilbo what are you doing?"

"We could hear you throwing things and the baby kept kicking since the first throw. I had to come. The little one wouldn't settle."

"I'm sorry."

"It's alright but what is going on?"

"It's nothing."

"Destroying the Arkenstone is not "nothing" cousin." Dain said.

"I am King. I can decide what to do with that blasted stone Dain." Thorin hissed at him and felt a harsh kick to his hand that was on Bilbo's stomach.

"I'm alright." Bilbo said before Thorin could say a word. "Promise Thorin." Bilbo said when he saw his doubt.

"Dwalin, get someone to fetch Oin. I want to be sure." Thorin said and Bilbo smiled.

"Finish your meeting." Bilbo said.

"Come."

Thorin helped him to his feet and led him over to the couches. He was at his desk with Dain but Bilbo would need him beside him so he moved everyone to the couches. Bilbo sat down with Thorin beside him. Thorin put his arm around Bilbo's waist and held him to his side, his hand resting on the side of his stomach. Dain sat across from him with Dis and Balin while Fili and Kili to the spare seats on either side of Thorin and Bilbo. Dwalin stood behind Dain in case he needed to act.

"Maybe we could discuss this like adult and the positions we hold." Balin said to start.

"Dain, I had to destroy that stone. I wasn't going to risk falling under its pull again. It had to be destroyed. I am the King."

"Thorin, the Arkenstone is what unites the other kingdoms."

"It was. I was crowned King. It shouldn't matter now. It never used to matter before the stone was first discovered. If not, anyone is welcome to challenge my position in a duel. If that is what you want Dain."

Bilbo gripped his hand tightly in fear. He didn't particularly like Dain but it was only based off his first impression of him.

"Cousin, I just don't want to see anyone else on the throne other than your family line."

"Dain, I don't plan on going anywhere. I need to know you will agree with my decision about the Arkenstone."

"I cannot. I'm sorry." Dain said and Bilbo felt Thorin deflate at that. "But I can say I understand why you did what you did. You have my support, Thorin."

"Thankyou."

Thorin looked up as the door opened and Oin came rushing in along with Frodo, Bifur and Bofur following. Frodo raced over to Bilbo as Oin followed after him. Thorin moved his arm from behind Bilbo and grabbed Frodo and lifted him up and sat him on his lap so he wasn't in Oin's way.

"Bilbo."

"Oin."

"I hear the little one was kicking a bit."

"Yeah a fair bit."

"Alright I'm just going to feel around. Tell me when I hit a painful spot."

Oin was knelt down in front of Bilbo and pressing gently on his stomach. When he got to Bilbo's lower ribs it caused Bilbo to hiss. Oin gently pressed more around that area before moving around before finishing up.

"Alright. It seems to just be more bruising. You will need to be careful with your ribs as they have made that area tender. If they start to hurt more let me know. They could have cracked a rib if so." Oin said before looking to Thorin. "You may want to confirm with Thranduil when he is arriving."

"I'm going to. Someone more familiar with male pregnancy will put all our minds at ease."

"You are bringing that faithless woodland sprite here?" Dain said in outrage.

"Yes Dain. He offered his help with Bilbo's pregnancy. I have accepted his offer and also returned what belongs to him. Dain, we need allies, and we are better off making allies than more enemies. We aren't established yet. Thranduil and his elves are providing food for ourselves and Dale till we are all back on our feet."

"But to allow that elf into the mountain."

"This is my mountain Dain! My Kingdom! You will not tell me what to do here." Thorin all but growled out.

Frodo shrunk in his grip and tried to hide in his furs. Thorin gently rubbed Frodo's back to calm him as Dain shrunk down against him. Dain nodded and looked at Bilbo who had put his hand on Thorin's arm trying to calm him. He had to admit having Bilbo around did help his cousin to relax and help keep him calm.

"I seriously never expected you to settle down cousin. Let alone have your own child. Not after helping to raise that those two terrors." Dain said pointing to Fili and Kili.

Both started to protest as Thorin, Bilbo, Dis, Balin, Dwalin, Bifur and Bofur laughed at it. Fili and Kili both knew it was true but never wanted to admit it. Oin looked at everyone but shrugged his shoulders and looked at Bilbo who winced and pressed his hand to his ribs.

"I'm going to get you a pain tonic." Oin said before leaving.

Thorin looked at Bilbo as Oin left to see him holding his side where his sore ribs were. Thorin looked at Frodo to see him dozing on his lap.

"Fili." Thorin said.

He looked at Fili then to Frodo and then back to Fili again. Fili nodded and quickly gathered Frodo from Thorin waking Frodo slightly who wrapped his arms around Fili's neck. Thorin helped Bilbo to his feet and led him towards the bed.

"Thorin?"

"Lay down, try and take the pressure off your ribs." Thorin said.

Thorin set Bilbo down and helped him lay down on the bed and get comfortable. Once Bilbo was settled Thorin took Frodo from Fili and laid him on the bed next to Bilbo. Frodo grumbled before settling in beside Bilbo. Bilbo smiled and brushed some of Frodo's hair from his face and took the book Thorin passed him that he had been reading. Bilbo thanked Thorin quietly before Thorin re-joined Dain on the lounges.

"I am sorry about last night Thorin. You know I was just concerned for you. I had not heard you let the hobbit stay. He's good for you."

"Thankyou Dain. I almost lost both to gold sickness that has haunted my line. That's why I had the stone destroyed. I don't want to lose my family."

"Alright."

"How long are you here for Dain?"

"Not long. I can't stay long. I wanted to come see how you and the boys were since I left so early after the battle."

"Dain what is going on?"

"Well there have been some questions in the Iron Hills as to who you are going to take as Queen and produce an heir. Now before you say anything I know Fili and Kili are your heirs and now I know about Bilbo. My advisors wanted to know that your line was secure and was thinking of sending some unattached dwarrowdams to Erebor for you to find your Queen."

"So they could have some say over how Erebor is run I assuming."

"I suspected the same and while I was all for you having a Queen I know some of the dwarrowdams and would have suggested Ered Luin if you were going to look."

"Dain…"

"But I agree Fili and Kili are your heirs and both would be a fine King when the time comes and now you have your One and a little one on the way. Thorin while I agreed with them I was more concerned over your happiness."

Thorin saw Oin entered and walk straight over to Bilbo when he found him. He watched the two for a second before Dis spoke up.

"Maybe I should go to the Iron Hills with you and knock some sense into those advisors of yours."

"Haha you are always welcome cousin. I think most would run."

Bilbo saw the door open from his place on the bed and Oin walk in and over to him when he spotted him on the bed. Oin grabbed a cup from the table and poured in some of the liquid and held it out to Bilbo.

"Drink up laddie."

Bilbo threw the drink a distrusting look before drinking it. Oin nodded and took the cup from him when he finished.

"Why are you here?"

"Resting. Thorin made me."

"He's probably right. Let me have another check."

Bilbo moved and lifted his shirt and Oin leaned over Frodo and had a careful look at his stomach. He felt along Bilbo's lower ribs and stomach getting winces from Bilbo.

"Still just seems to be bruising, the pain tonic should help. If it gets worse let me know immediately."

"I will Oin, don't worry."

Oin nodded and left and as Bilbo went back to his book he saw Thorin watching him. Bilbo smiled and saw Thorin relax slightly before he went back to his book. Frodo let out a whine as he curled on his side away from Bilbo. Bilbo watch him carefully to make sure he didn't roll over before reading.

Bilbo read for a few minutes before he heard whimpering and felt Frodo start shifting on the bed. Bilbo set his book behind him and set his hand on Frodo's shoulder and felt him shaking and heard more whimpers.

"Frodo?" Bilbo shook him gently. "Frodo."

Bilbo jumped when Frodo let out a cry and woke up. Bilbo wrapped his arms around him and held him closer as he started crying.

"Frodo it's ok."

Bilbo felt him squirm in his arms before facing him and curling into his arms crying. Bilbo rubbed his back gently trying to calm him down. Bilbo felt the bed move behind him and he looked over his shoulder to see Thorin moving in beside him.

"Frodo what's wrong?"

"I was dreaming of mummy and daddy."

"Oh Frodo. It will be alright. You will see them again but not for a long while."

"They are always with you even if they aren't here." Thorin said gently and quietly to Frodo who looked up at him after he said that.

"How? They left."

"They are always watching over you even if you can't see them."

Bilbo smiled at Thorin for his words and seeing Frodo listen and relax into their hold. Fili seeing that calming Frodo may take a while spoke up.

"Uncle why don't we pick this up later?" Fili suggested. "Bilbo needs you and so does Frodo. We'll meet again in a couple of hours."

Thorin nodded in acceptance, glad that Fili thought to get everyone out. Bilbo was watching Frodo and didn't realise anyone was leaving till the door shut. Bilbo looked up hearing the door shut and seeing them alone.

"Thorin? Where is everyone?"

"They left."

"What? Why?"

"So I can focus on you and Frodo."

"Thorin we are fine. You have work to do."

"You have bruised ribs and Frodo think that his parents left because is a bad child. I think I need to be with you both."

"Thorin."

"Bilbo."

"You are stubborn."

Thorin smirked knowing he won. Bilbo just glared at him half-heartedly making Thorin smirk even more.

"So are you my dear hobbit." Thorin said making Bilbo shake his head.

"Unclwe Biwbo?"

"Yes Frodo."

"Where didw everwyone gow?"

"They went out to show Dain the repairs already being done." Thorin said before Bilbo could say anything.

"Whyw arewn't youw showingw hiwm?"

"Because I need to stay with your uncle for a while and I would be away for too long if I did. Fili and Kili will show my cousin in my place."

"Ohw."

"So what were your plans after lunch?" Thorin asked them both.

"Well Dwalin's going to take Frodo for some defence training." Bilbo said making Thorin nod before frowning and went to speak. "No I'm staying in my room. Bifur and Bofur will be joining Frodo in my place and Bofur is going to be Dwalin's assistant."

"Very good." Thorin said to Bilbo and looked to Frodo. "Dwalin is an excellent teacher. He will go easy on you and if you don't understand say something ok. I know he looks scary but he isn't." Thorin said to Frodo seeing his nervousness at the idea. "He trains lots of children Frodo. He isn't going to do anything too hard. Easy things that little ones should know if they need it."

"Okway."
