Bilbo smiled and looked up when there was a knock on the door. Oin hurried over and opened the door before letting in a dwarrowdam who bowed to Thorin when she was closer to the bed.
"We have Ranna here to nurse the babes, when you are ready." Oin said.
"I think we can let the company in and while they are in here Ranna can nurse one of the babes at a time." Thorin said. "There is a privacy screen in the corner for you."
Ranna bowed in thanks and stood off to the side of the room as Oin opened the door and spoke to the dwarrows still waiting out in the hall. Bilbo smiled when Thranduil walked over to him and handed the babe that Oin took from him before he went to the bathroom. Dis walked over with the other babe and sat beside Bilbo on the bed holding the babe close to him. The child that was still at Thorin's side had been moved to the other side of the bed so it was between Bilbo and Thorin.
"You are truly blessed Thorin, Bilbo." Dis said.
"I don't understand what you mean by that Dis." Bilbo said.
"Dwarves really only have one dwarfling at a time and generally it can be ten to twenty plus years between dwarflings. If they are even able to." Thorin said.
"Two at once is extremely rare." Dis added. "Three is completely out of the norm."
"Oh. Not so strange for hobbits. Two at once is normal and so is three, four is rare and five is out of the norm. But families generally consist of at least two fauntlings and can be up to ten or more just depending on the wealth of the family. And there are not many years between fauntlings."
"The Shire must be full of children."
"There are many children in Hobbiton and the other towns through the Shire."
"I see." Dis said. "So have you thought of names?"
"Well, this little girl here reminds me so much of my mother."
"What was her name?" Thorin asked.
"Belladonna."
"Belladonna." Thorin repeated. "I like that. Belladonna it is."
"What about this little boy?" Bilbo asked, looking to the little boy in Dis's arms.
Dis moved forward so Thorin could see the boy in her arms. Thorin looked at him carefully trying to think of a name that would work for their son. They had talked about names but wanted to wait till they were born before deciding.
"Thrlin. Our little boy will be called Thrlin."
"I like it." Bilbo said. "What about this little girl?"
"Hmmm, what about Dila?" Thorin suggested.
"Dila? Yes, Dila sound perfect."
Dis went to say something when the company all came into the room. Fili and Kili had rushed to Bilbo's side of the bed and almost jumped on the bed had Dis not given them a look before the boys carefully slid onto the bed so they could get a closer look at their cousins. Dori came over carry Frodo who was looking a little tired but still alert. Dori sat Frodo in front of Fili and Kili as he stared at the babes on the bed. Bilbo smiled as the company all gathered around in the spare spots around the bed to get a view of their new Prince and Princess's.
"Three babes?" Dwalin said in shock when he saw the babies on the bed.
"Yes, three." Thorin said with a chuckle seeing some of their reactions. "Was a shock for both of us."
"Mahal." Dwalin said in shock.
Balin chuckled at the look on Dwalin's face, he was shocked as well. Balin looked at the babies with Thorin and Bilbo and noticed something interesting.
"Is that two females?" Balin asked.
"Yes." Thorin chuckled. "Two females."
The company around them had their jaws drop in shock. Three children was unheard of but two females at once was never heard of. Bilbo laughed seeing that they had finally shut the company up. He couldn't remember the last time they had no words.
Finally, the company got over their shock and congratulated them. The babies were passed around to the dwarves so they could meet their new prince and princesses before Thrlin was handed to Ranna before she disappeared behind the screen to feed him. Once he was fed she would bring him back and take one of the girls and repeat the process.
The dwarves stayed around for a little longer before they decided to allow Bilbo and Thorin to rest. The company said goodbye before filing out of the room. Dis, Fili, Kili, Frodo, Balin, Dwalin and Oin were the last ones left in the room.
"Uncwle?"
"Yes Frodo?"
"Cawn I stawy with youw?"
"Of course Frodo. You may not get a very restful sleep though."
"Whyw?"
"Well your cousins are going to wake up and cry throughout the night. Just like you used to."
"I diwd notw!" Frodo said sternly causing the dwarves and Bilbo to laugh at the stern look on his face.
"Oh you did Frodo. But don't worry everyone was the same when we were babies. You sure you want to stay tonight?"
"Yews!"
"Ok. You can stay tonight. But how about for this afternoon you go hang out with Fili and Kili and Dis will bring you back when it's time for bed. How's that sound?"
"Okway." Frodo said happily.
"We will leave two alone to bond with your children." Balin said as he took one last look at the three small children laying on the bed between them. "Congratulations."
"Thankyou Balin." Thorin said.
"Thankyou." Bilbo said with a smile as he looked down at the children.
They all soon left leaving just Oin behind as he went about tidying up and setting up the cots beside Bilbo's side of the bed. One cot had originally been set up in Bilbo's chambers as they were normally sleeping in there while Thorin worked in his but because Thorin wasn't going to be moving for a while Bilbo would be staying with him. Oin had already known about the second child and had another of the same cot set aside ready for the birth. They would have another cot made quickly since they didn't know about the third child, but for now the two girls would share a cot.
Oin gave both Thorin and Bilbo a check over before settling the now sleeping babes in their cots and leaving the room. He would be staying in Bilbo's chambers for the next few days to keep an eye on Bilbo and Thorin.
Bilbo sighed as he slid down in bed so he way laying beside Thorin. Thorin reached out his hand to Bilbo gripping it in his own. He brought Bilbo's hand to his mouth and kissed it gently.
"I love you, Bilbo Baggins."
Bilbo smiled and leaned over, making sure to not put any pressure on Thorin or move him unnecessarily. Bilbo leaned down and kissed Thorin on the lips before pulling away with a smile and laid his head down on the pillow beside Thorin, laying on his side.
"I love you too, Thorin Oakenshield." Bilbo told him before turning over to check on the babes and then back to Thorin. "You should get some sleep Thorin. You are nowhere near healed."
"You too, Bilbo. You did just delivery our three children."
"And you are recovering from a cave in and just regained consciousness a couple of hours ago."
"How about we both agree we need to rest." Thorin said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, that sounds fine to me."
Bilbo pulled the blankets up over Thorin carefully before pulling them over himself and went to settle in for a nice nap when there was a soft knock on the door. Bilbo sat up slightly as it opened slightly, and Bilbo saw Dis stick her head in before he waved her over so they didn't risk waking the children.
"What is it, Dis?" Thorin asked.
"Well I was wondering if you both would like me to keep an eye on the little ones for you. I will sit out on the balcony to give you some privacy and if they wake I will look after them, that way you can continue to rest. You both need it."
"Thankyou Dis, that would be great." Thorin said.
Dis smiled and quietly closed the door and headed out and sat on the balcony. She was carry a book in her hand as well so she could keep herself busy. Bilbo laid down and looked at Thorin who was looking at him.
"What?"
"Nothing." Thorin said and Bilbo just gave him a look. "Just watching my amazing One."
"I'm not that amazing Thorin." Bilbo said with a soft chuckle.
"Yes, you are. You faced down an orc pack, Azog, a dragon, a stone crazed dwarf and lastly an orc army and Azog once again. You are amazing and once I can move again, I will show you just how amazing you are." Thorin said making Bilbo blush before he pulled him in a little closer and kissed him. "You are the most amazing being I have ever met. I would be lost without you. Do not forget that."
Bilbo smiled and kissed Thorin back before laying back down. Both fell off to sleep easily and didn't wake till much later that day.
