"Run!" Colby taunts before my parents, and I run away, but dad is shot right in the head. Mom and I watch him fall to the ground, and blood rushes out of his head before we keep going. We run for a few minutes before mom feels pain.
"Fuck, it's too soon," she frets as we watch liquid go down her leg.
We are surrounded by people dressed completely in black; all we see are their eyes. We are tied and blindfolded before being taken somewhere.
I feel myself being chained to a wall before the blindfold is removed. I see mom is chained to the wall, nude and in pain. Fuck, she is in labor, and whoever wants us knows it.
"Going to have another perfect angel?" Yazmine taunts, "I don't think so. I'm not giving that brat a chance. I will let you deliver and watch her die."
Yazemine sits on a chair at the other end of the room.
Mom deals with contractions for five hours, and I can't help her. By her breathing, she's trying not to push, but she has to give in; screaming as she pushes; years rolling down her face.
"NOO!" She screams as she pushes the head out.
It's not long before we watch the baby fall to the ground. I heard a squeak rather than a cry before mom cries. I watch blood go down her legs. Fuck, that's not normal after delivery, and she delivered too fast. I think now mom is crying, knowing both she and the baby are dying. All I can do is watch the blood go down her legs, and the baby struggles to breathe.
"I...l-love..you," She says before closing her eyes.
"Mom? MOM?!"
She doesn't respond, but her color is ghost white, and the baby stops moving. They died five minutes after the baby was born.
Yazmine is smiling from her seat, "I think I'll let you live for a while," she smiles before leaving the room, leaving me to stare at my dead mom and sister.
Ratchet's POV.
I feel Jasmine kicking me before she screams.
"Jasmine, stop; you're safe."
I sit her up, feeling her tremble. While I know it's good for anyone — Autobot or human — to talk about their nightmares, I have an idea what Jasmine's is about, and having her tell me about it will not help her. Maybe seeing her sister will help her.
"She's ok," Jolt assures Jasmine, but we let her see her sleeping sister, "she ate — though not ready for a bottle yet — and definitely pooping normal," Jasmine smiles hearing Jolt had to deal with a stinky diaper, "oh just wait until you have to deal with it."
I let Jasmine stay for a half-hour before we go back to our room and sleep.
It's a rough six nights full of nightmares. Rung had Jasmine tell him about her nightmares. As I thought, it's been the same one. I worry Jasmine is blaming herself for what happened.
"Yazmine is mentally unstable and unfortunately snapped. There's nothing you could have done if part of her plan wasn't to kidnap you. You'd only be another victim taken down if you were with your parents," Rung explains, "do you want to see where they are buried?"
I don't know how that'll help, but he knows more about psychology than me. Jasmine nods, and we go for a drive to the cemetery Jasmine's parents are buried in. Jolt also joins us, and we take his alt mode while Lucus checks on the baby.
We stop by a flower shop and get a bouquet of blue iris' to leave at the grave. I will not tell her we found her parents' wills, and they both wanted to be buried together. It's hard watching her cry for a half-hour. Rung says this is a way to let out most of the guilt. This may or may not end the nightmares.
We find a place to get lunch before heading back to the base. Jasmine is doing ok as we wait for the food we ordered, but I don't think she will no longer struggle mentally with what happened to her parents. We read baby girl names from my phone, struggling not to laugh at Jolt and Rung's displeased looks that we won't let them in on finding a name.
"You'll find out after the hearing," Jasmine tells them.
Prime said he wants to make Thanksgiving about our family, but we want to have a party after the hearing. I've been talking to Damien and Ryley while they've been on vacation. We'll keep the sign vague and let everyone guess what happened before telling them. It's hard to see Jasmine happy about this when I know she'll also have times when she'll be worried, and I can only keep her from panicking and encouraging her to spend time with her sister frequently.
Jasmine's POV.
It's concerning Lucus is waiting for us when we walk into the room. We were gone longer than the exam should take.
"She's fine," he smiles, "I think she's ready to try a bottle."
Of course, this is not as easy as it sounds. I hate hearing that my sister could still struggle with the bottle even though she's been doing well with the pacifier. Lucus explains to Ratchet how to deal with the possible problems before we're left alone. We are encouraged to have the baby on my bare chest. Though we're hoping to take turns feeding her.
"She's already happy," Ratchet comments as he hands me the baby.
We take the time to bond with her. She looks at me smiling and grabs my pinky finger.
It's a good sign the baby is crying a few minutes before her scheduled feeding. Ratchet makes sure she's not telling us something is wrong since she's still a patient.
"Someone's hungry," Ratchet smiles and gets the bottle.
For now, we're trying an ounce of donated breast milk. I know that's what Jolt and Ratchet have given her through the feeding tube, and Ratchet is prepared to finish feeding her via the tube. We'll try to increase how much she gets until she gets to drinking as much as she should be. Currently, that's four ounces a feeding. She does well, and we consider doing half her feedings with the bottle until she can drink four ounces, then switch to only the bottle. She can hold that much in her stomach, but we don't know if she can handle drinking from the bottle for that long.
"She did well; we might be able to increase how much she's getting next feed," Ratchet suggests while finishing with the feeding tube as I hold her. She falls asleep as she's fed. Ratchet informs Lucus how the bottle feeding went, and we go do something fun. It's one step closer to my sister being released from medbay and hopefully one step closer to us being a family.
