"Jack!"

When my voice failed me, Steve called across the bar. Although it was loud in the cosy room, Steve's call was just enough to get his attention. The man froze. His hood turned to us slowly, fully revealing his face. Tears pricked at the corner of my eyes as Steve and I raised from our seats.

"Steve? Rina?"

That was enough of a trigger as all three of us leapt forward and embraced as a group. Being the larger one, Jack enveloped us in his arms as we bear-hugged each other in utter relief.

"What are you guys doing here? How did you make it past all the MPs?" Jack was the first to pull away, holding us at arm's length.

"We came to find you. The MPs are gone – Historia has taken the crown."

"Erwin's plan was a success?"

"Rod Reiss has been defeated."

"Wait- defeated?"

"He became-"

"Steve." I laughed and put a hand on the talkative one's shoulder. "Let the man breathe. Besides, we have more urgent things to pay attention to."

At this, I turned to Jack. "Where's Linda?"

Leading us out of the bar and taking several twists and turns, Jack finally ushered us into a small building. Walking down yet another corridor, he knocked some pattern onto the door before slowly opening it. Although a little dark than we were used to, the place was quite spacious and tidy.

"Jack! Did you remember to ask for some bandages?"

I grinned when I instantly recognized Soph's voice.

"Yes I did! I also brought another surprise present for you all." Jack couldn't keep the grin off his face and gestured for us to follow him around the corner.

"We're all in Linda's room! Bring the scotch, I need a gulp."

As Steve and I followed Jack into the room, those who were facing our direction all froze simultaneously. Brian and Linda's eyes widened and Linda's jaw dropped.

"I do not condone drinking while on the job, Officer Sophie." I teased.

There was an ear-piercing scream as Soph spun around and immediately tackled both Steve and I down. We landed on the hard ground in a heap, Soph almost unable to contain herself. It only got worse (or better, depending on your view) when everyone else jumped on top of the pile. Save for Linda, of course, who was just laughing her head off at the sight. After that initial reunion, the team all got on their feet, brushing off the dust that clung to our clothes.

"I've never been so happy to see my direct superior before!" Soph exclaimed, clutching my arm. I laughed and gently peeled her off me.

"Ditto."

"And how are you Linda?" Steve went up to our girl sitting on the bed, patting her shoulder. She shrugged.

"Doc says I'm healing fine. May take a bit longer than expected but that's due to moving it when I shouldn't have."

The Doc locked eyes with me, before glancing out of the room. I could take a hint.

"Well you guys rest up and catch up to speed. Me and the Doc are going out to grab some more food." I slung an arm around the Doc's shoulders and we shuffled outside. My second-in-command's jaw dropped.

"But I grabbed-"

"There are more of us here now, you know. Plus, I'm starving from our trip here." Steve came to my rescue, as per usual, and distracted Jack from prying further. Successfully making it out of the room's earshot, I smiled wistfully and turned to the medical miracle.

"So how have you been, Doc?"

He rolled his neck, cracking it every now and again as he did. Stepping forward, I followed him to what seemed like a pantry.

"Alive and okay. Could be better but alive."

"I'm sorry you had to go through all that MP-hunting-us-down phase."

He waved a dismissive hand. "You have nothing to apologize for. I'm glad your team kept us up and safe. Thank you." He tossed a few pieces of food over his shoulder at me. Catching them, I placed them onto the small wooden table nearby.

"Apart from the MPs, have you run into any other sort of troubles? UnderGround-wise?"

"We've been keeping our heads down and uniforms off. So not yet, but I guess it's only a matter of time."

"And Linda?"

"During the move, she didn't take it very well. Her ankle was still broken and the rest of her leg was still very tender. Running from the MPs forced her to move it when it was in no condition to. We only just managed to control the swelling and positioning of the healing ankle when we made it down here so I don't think she'll lose her leg. However, in order for me to give proper treatment and diagnosis, we need to go to a proper hospital or infirmary."

"Her ankle is healing correctly, though?"

"As far as I can tell – and I can't see a lot – yes."

"I thought there was another reason for you taking the Doc out."

We whirled around at the voice and saw none other then Jack.

I sighed. "If it's any consolation, I didn't want to talk about Linda's condition as if she wasn't in the room."

"No, it's all right Hazura. I understand. Come with me, I'm going to go grab some more wooden cups from the bar. Steve is coming around to help you Doc."

With a nod of acknowledgement, Jack and I headed out carefully, checking no one was around when we did.

"So, when are we getting out of this shitty place? The MPs aren't a problem anymore, right?"

I nodded but frowned, crossing my arms over my chest in thought.

"Most of the MPs have been or are currently being put through the justice system. However there's always that small risk that we didn't get them all. Plus the fact that there's some out there who just hate the government system completely and would target any of us just for the hell of it. UnderGround especially."

"So leave soon?"

"Probably tomorrow. Give ourselves a couple of hours rest and time to pack up and leave."

"Just wait until we get our hands on that damn Survey Corps soldier."

Before I could even react, Jack had yanked us into a small alley between the mud buildings and covered my body with his much larger one. I blinked from the sudden movement, my head whirling to catch up with what just happened.

"Shit!" I whispered, still shocked from how fast he moved. He silently placed a finger to his lips, signalling me to shut up. Trusting my squad member, I zipped my lips.

"Which one?" laughed another man, in response to the threat.

"Rina Hazura. She had been off our radar until she suddenly comes in and pulls that stunt on John, landing him in jail. If I know John as well as I do, I know that he's praying for her to be taken down."

"And how exactly are we going to do that? There have been whispers of a huge Titan being taken down over in the Orvud district. If anything, that's where she'll be."

There was a slight tsking sound. "There have also been whispers of a group of injured Survey Corps soldiers hiding out here in the UnderGround."

At those words, I panicked. I shoved Jack off of me and hurried along the wall, shuffling closer to the conversation.

"If we can find that group, we can definitely use them as leverage against her. Hazura has that oh-so-heart-of-gold, she'll be hook. Line. And sinker."
