Coco: It has taken us 61 chapters, but we are finally here! The moment these two awkward love birds finally make their feelings known! I hope you're ready for it. Though I'm warning you now that if you were expecting a lot of dramatics and endearing "I love yous", you're going to be very disappointed. These two little beans won't be having anything like that with their confession. I mean, they're just high schoolers and just really developing their feelings for each other in a romantic sense. And with that in mind, I made it almost cringe worthy awkward, and honestly, I'm quite proud of myself. XD
'Stupid Aya,' Katsuki grumbled as he made his way up the steps to the second floor.
As soon as their teachers were leaving and Katsuki went to go and talk to All Might, she slipped away to go hide in her room. If she thought that was going to save her from what Katsuki wants to discuss, she's dead wrong. He made it to the former guest room that was now hers, and let himself in. He saw Ayano sitting crisscross on the floor with the boxes from her apartment around her.
Some were opened and she was already going through them. Probably deciding what she'd be taking with her to the dorms. At his entrance, Ayano looked up from what she was doing, and for a second the two just kind of stared at each other.
"You wanted to talk about something?" She prompted as he remained quiet.
"Yeah," Katsuki said as he shut the door behind him.
He then went over to sit across from her as she was looking around a few books in her lap. As he watched her sort through her belongs, he sighed. He wanted to talk to her, but he wasn't sure how to begin, which was frustrating as hell. He never had a problem saying what was on his mind before.
'How do I do this?' He asked himself. 'I don't even know if she feels the same…'
As he was mulling over his thoughts, Ayano paused in what she was doing to look at him.
'This could go completely wrong,' His thoughts filtered through her mind.
Ayano could tell Katsuki probably didn't mean for her to hear his troubled thoughts. He was usually good at keeping her from hearing things he'd rather keep to himself. He had more control than Izuku when it came to that sort of thing, but right now, it was like all his walls were down.
'Dammit, this is harder than it should be,' Katsuki continued to think. 'I just need to tell her. I'm pretty sure I've already made it pretty damn obvious though.'
He made sure to keep close to her these last few days, and was even…affectionate…Katsuki shuddered even thinking the word. It wasn't like him at all. Ayano felt her cheeks heat up.
'He couldn't possibly…' She thought as he continued to watch the inner turmoil in his eyes.
'Dammit, dammit, dammit, just say it, Katsuki!' He mentally shouted at himself. 'Even if she doesn't like me the same way, I have to tell her.'
Ayano's face reddened even more as Katsuki continued to mentally berate himself.
'He actually does,' She realized.
She stared at Katsuki a bit longer as her heart thumped loudly in her chest. She's known for a while that her feelings for her childhood friend have changed. That their odd friendship had turned into something more. At least she felt like it had for her…but it appears Katsuki was feeling the difference as well. Ayano bit her lip. Then with a sudden swell of courage she moved, so that she was leaning forward.
Katsuki turned towards her at her sudden movement, and before he realized what she was doing, her lips shyly met his. His eyes widened in shock at her actions as all his previous thoughts ceased for that small moment. It only lasted a second and when she pulled back, her face was bright red and she couldn't look him in the eyes.
"I…I-I feel the same way too." She whispered.
She moved back completely as she said this while keeping her eyes glued to the floor. Katsuki blinked at her before his lips turned up into a smirk.
"Good." He said. "Makes this easier."
Then moved forward swiftly to place their lips together once more. Ayano squeaked in surprise at his bold move as Katsuki snaked one hand around to the small of her back while the other went around the back of her neck. He pulled her closer as she finally allowed herself to relax in his hold. Though their little moment was cut short at the sound of a camera going off and a flash caught their attention. Katsuki pulled back and turned to glare at Mitsuki who was the culprit of the interruption. Ayano's face turned even redder if possible.
"What the hell, old hag?!" Katsuki snapped.
"What?" Mitsuki asked with a smirk. "Just catching this special moment on film, Katsuki. Glad to see you finally manned up and made your move. Your father and I were getting a bit tired of waiting."
Katsuki, who was sporting a red face by now, jumped to his feet as he yelled at Mitsuki. It soon turned into one of their usual yelling matches that had Masaru running into the room to see what was going on. Ayano just fell over onto her side at this point while reaching for the stuffed dog leaning against one of her boxes. She held it close to hide her blushing face as her heart pounded in her chest.
'My poor heart can't take all this excitement back to back,' She thought to herself as the yelling continued in the background.
Though despite how embarrassed she felt from getting caught kissing Katsuki, she felt herself smile against the stuffed animal. Things were rough these last few days. She's lost a lot, but like Nighteye told her, she just had to keep moving forward. She'd become stronger and work harder to protect those precious to her. Like a certain yelling explosion boy who was still fighting his mother in the background.
'…wait…' Ayano suddenly thought. '…does this mean…we're dating now?'
Ayano smiled looking up at U.A. as she and Katsuki stepped through the gates. She felt so happy to be back. Katsuki looked at her smiling face while snorting. He then took her hand into his to tug her along as they were to meet up with the rest of their class and Aizawa at their assigned dorm.
"You can gawk later," Katsuki told her. "So, hurry the hell up."
Despite his rude tone, Ayano smiled at him. Nothing could ruin her mood today. She heard from everyone that they'd all be returning to classes, and she was ready to see their friends again. They followed the directions given to them through the email sent by Aizawa and soon found the large dorm building that they would be calling home for the rest of their time at U.A. this year. Ayano saw many of the others were already there waiting with Aizawa.
"Ayano, Katsuki, so good to see you guys!" Ayumi said as she zoomed over.
She threw her arms around both of them, which had Katsuki stiffening in surprise.
"Let go, Streak!" Katsuki snapped. "Don't go getting all familiar with me!"
Ayumi just laughed as she pulled back from the angry blonde who was glaring at her.
"Aww, I missed you too." Ayumi teased as she poked his shoulder.
Katsuki growled at her some more as Ayano chuckled at the entire thing. She then looked over towards the others. She noticed many of them looked happy. Though Tsuyu looked particularly…down, which was so unlike her. Ayano hoped it was her imagination, but she'd be sure to check on Tsuyu later to be sure. Soon everyone else arrived, and Ayano made sure to hug Izuku when he arrived. She hasn't gotten to see him since the whole rescue thing and she had kind of just passed out on them. They've talked since then, but it wasn't the same as actually getting to see each other in person again.
"I'm so glad you're okay," Izuku said as he hugged her tightly.
Though he stiffened when feeling the murderous intent behind him. He turned his head while flinching when seeing the drop-dead look, he was getting from Katsuki. Izuku slowly let Ayano go, which had Ayano blinking in confusion. Aizawa let his students talk a bit longer as he's known its been some time since they've gotten to see each other face to face. Especially concerning Katsuki and Ayano. However, he soon cleared his throat to get their attention.
"Given everything that has happened, I'm glad we were able to bring Class A back together." Aizawa said.
And he really was glad. It had been a bit iffy if some of his students would be returning in the beginning, but things worked out in the end.
"So, we all got the go ahead to move on campus," Hanta said as he looked at his classmates with a large grin.
From beside him, Toru heaved a loud sigh as she slumped forward in what appeared to be a sense of release and exhaustion.
"It took a lot of convincing from my parents." She said.
She had to beg and beg and beg some more before they finally agreed to let her return.
"I was pretty concerned about mine," Kyoka agreed.
Yeah, her dad seemed moved by All Might's fight and they gave her permission much easier than she suspected, but she could tell they were still concerned.
"Makes sense," Mashirao said. "You got the worse of the gas attack."
He and Konan, of course, made it through it all unscathed as they had been part of the group back at the offices where Vlad King and Aizawa had been protecting them. Though despite not even getting a scratch, Konan's father hadn't been easy to convince. Konan had even called Mashirao crying because she thought she wouldn't be rejoining them at school. But after her mother speaking on her behalf, her father relented.
"We're glad to see the teachers got to come back too." Tsuyu said. "I was afraid you wouldn't be allowed. The people at the press conference seemed pretty upset with you guys."
"Yeah," Ochaco said then looked down. "But…Doctorine didn't come back…is there any news about her?"
The others exchanged a glance. They all heard about Doctorine still being MIA, and it made them worried for the woman.
"There isn't much I can tell you about Naosu being missing," Aizawa said. "Only that the police are helping us with the open investigation along with a few pros like Edgeshot, Kamui Woods, and Nighteye. We hope to find something soon. As for the rest of us, circumstances have changed, which is why we were allowed to return."
He was certain that the reason for that is that it was easier to keep the current teachers rather than revamping the entire teaching staff and trying to find new pros to teach these kids.
"Now then I will explain how your dorm assignments work shortly," He said as he continued on then clapped his hands together. "First, however, we haven't forgotten about the provisional hero licenses you were supposed to get during the training camp."
Ayano honestly forgot all about that, which had her scratching the back of her head with a sigh.
"Oh yeah," Rikido said. "That's what we were there for."
"So much has happened that it totally just slipped my mind." Toru commented.
Well, at least Ayano wasn't the only one who seemed to forget about that tidbit of information.
"This is important," Aizawa informed them. "Listen well…Kirishima, Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Midoriya, Iida, you five are the ones who broke the rules and went to rescue Bakugo and Ishida that night."
Ishida looked down guilty as he said that. If she hadn't been so weak and was able to keep her and Katsuki safe, her friends wouldn't have thought they had to do something so foolish. She then looked at the rest of their classmates who seemed surprised, but not as surprised as she thought they might.
'Did they know?' She had to wonder.
Aizawa seemed to have the same thought as he narrowed his eyes at his entire class.
"Based on your reactions, I assume the rest of you were at least aware of their plans," Aizawa said. "I'm going to set aside a number of issues and just say this: If it weren't for All Might's retirement from the hero scene, I would expel everyone here except Bakugo, Ishida, Jiro, and Hagakure. The five of you who went, of course, but also the remaining fifteen who didn't stop them. You betrayed our trust even if it was to keep your friends from getting into trouble. In order to regain our confidence, you'll have to obey every rule to the letter and live as model students…That's all. Now look alive. Enjoy your new home."
He turned around and started walking inside the door as his students looked at him in disbelief.
"Um, we're supposed to be excited after that speech?" Some of them asked.
Many just remained silent as they continued to stare down at the ground. Ayano looked at her friends while wishing there was some way to cheer them up. She felt so guilty for all of this. She wasn't the only one as Katsuki growled in annoyance at the feeling bubbling up in his chest. He then marched forward while grabbing Denki by the back of his shirt.
"Come here," Katsuki said as he dragged the darker blonde away.
He took Denki behind some bushes with the guy looking confused before his shouts could suddenly be heard as sparks seemed to fly everywhere. Ayano was going to walk over and see what happened, but Denki, who had his 'wey' face one, popped out of the bushes.
"Weeyyy," He mumbled as he started shuffling forward.
Kyoka was the first to bust out laughing from how he was acting, and some of the others were starting to chuckle too.
"Dude, what did Bakugo do to you?" Hanta asked as Denki just waved his hands around and continued laughing.
Ayano blinked at the entire thing as Katsuki who came out from behind the bushes went over to Eijiro.
"Kirishima," Katsuki called getting his attention.
The spikey-haired boy turned towards his friend as Katsuki held out a small stack of money to him. Eijiro shouted in shock.
"Whoa, did you shake him down for cash?!" Eijiro asked.
"No!" Katsuki retorted. "This is my money, you idiot. To replace what you spent."
Eijiro seemed confused by Katsuki's words before his eyes widened in realization.
"How do you know I bought night vision goggles?" Eijiro asked.
Katsuki just scoffed as he shoved the money into Eijiro's chest, which forced Eijiro to take it. Katsuki then walked on put his arm around Ayano's shoulders to guide her along as they started following after Aizawa.
"Don't say I never gave you anything." Katsuki grumbled. "Now, I'm not in your debt. Kaminari, show them your dumb side!"
Denki seemed to already be doing just that as he shouted out a word that didn't even make any sense. This, of course, had everyone laughing their heads off. Ayano was glad to hear their laughter. She doesn't think she could deal with their sad expressions for long. After the laughter and merriment died down a little, Aizawa finally was able to herd his little students into the dorm.
"Each student dormitory holds one class." Aizawa explained as they looked around. "Girls are on the right and boys are on the left. The entire first floor is a common area. That's where you'll find your kitchen, baths, and laundry rooms."
Ayano looked around thinking it looked very spacious. There was plenty of room for all twenty-four of them to use this space together comfortably.
"There's even a courtyard," Hanta said as he looked outside.
Konan looked as well while picturing some nice morning meditation happening out there. It looked so calming and peaceful.
"So spacious." Mina hummed in delight. "And new!"
"I'm living in a mansion," Ochaco said.
She then proceeded to faint, but before she could hit the ground, Hachiro managed to catch her with his quick reflexes.
"She thinks this is a mansion?" He asked as he held her in his arms. "I don't even live in one of those, but my house is bigger than this."
Of course, it needed to be as their home also doubled as the family's agency offices. So, it housed not only their large family, but it also had housing for any heroes that wanted to stay over after a late night's work instead of heading home. Or it was perfect for those situations where there wasn't time for anyone to return home.
"Yes, I'd say this space is maybe a quarter of one of my family's dining halls back home," Konan agreed.
Momo and Ayumi nodded in agreement as some of their classmates just looked at them.
'I sometimes forget we have some freaking loaded people in our class,' Kyoka thought as she sweat-dropped.
"But it's still a nice space!" Ayumi quickly added. "I can see us all having fun together here!"
From behind her, Minoru was trembling as sweat was rolling down his face in waves.
"Does my ears deceive me?" He asked out loud. "Our baths are located in the common space? This is heaven."
"They're separated by gender, and you'll behave yourself." Aizawa said with a dark aura surrounding him.
Minoru didn't even turn around to look at his scary teacher as he gulped in fear.
"Yes, sir." He whimpered.
Aizawa then looked over at Ayano and Katsuki as the both were peeking inside the kitchen. Or rather, Ayano was investigating it while Katsuki just looked bored.
"And that goes for all of you," He said. "I expect you all to behave and no funny business."
Ayano, who noticed his look, blushed as Katsuki just scowled. Something that didn't go unnoticed by their classmates who looked between Aizawa and their two classmates. Mina then gasped.
"Wait, does this mean what I think it means?!" She asked as she cupped her face in her hands. "Are you two finally dating?!"
Her words had many looking at Katsuki and Ayano hungry for confirmation. Ayano just blushed more as she looked at anywhere but her classmates. She had to wonder how Aizawa knew about her and Katsuki's…relationship change. Though she could already just picture Mitsuki calling and telling the teachers all about it.
"So, what if we are?" Katsuki asked as he jutted his chin out definitely.
Many happy squeals came from the girls, and Toru and Mina even tackled Ayano in the excitement.
"We need details!" They said from where they laid on top of her on the floor.
As they were interrogating Ayano, Eijiro threw his arm around Katsuki's shoulders.
"Good for you, man." Eijiro congratulated his friend.
Katsuki just snorted in reply while ignoring Denki and Hanta who were poking him for questions. Izuku watched the entire scene and smiled as he felt happy for his friends.
"Alright, you can grill them for questions later," Aizawa said calling attention to his students. "We still have to talk about your dorm assignments. Stop wasting time."
The girls took some prodding, but they finally left Ayano alone, so Aizawa could continue the tour. He talked to them about the set up of the building and made sure to tell them, which rooms belonged to them. It was a lot of change, but Aizawa could see his students taking it easier than he thought. He was ready to see how they took things from here as he and the teachers prepared them for the exam to come.
Ayano let out a sigh as she wiped her brow. She then looked around her room while seeing that finally she had all her boxes unpacked. She hummed in satisfaction. Finally, everything was where it needed to be. When there was a knock on her door, Ayano went over and opened it to reveal almost all of her classmates. She blinked when seeing them.
"Hey, everyone," Ayano said. "Can I help you?"
"Yeah, sorry to bother you, Ayano," Ochaco said as she put her hands together. "But, uh, we're actually having a contest right now on who has the coolest room! And we were wondering if you were done unpacking and wanted to participate."
She said this a bit sheepishly as she scratched the back of her head. Ayano hummed while not expecting that, but if her classmates wanted to see her room, she wouldn't deny them.
"I just finished actually." Ayano said. "If you want to take a look that's fine. I don't mind."
She stepped back as she said this, and Mina and Toru jumped in excitedly with the others following at a slower pace. Everyone looked around Ayano's room while taking in the most notable items.
"Whoa, you've got so many puzzle cubes." Denki said as he looked to the large bookshelf next to foot of Ayano's bed.
The puzzle cubes he was taking about here dotting the book case. Almost looking as if they were acting as dividers for the different sections of books. While she didn't have the same number of books as Tenya, it was still an impressive collection. Though her books seemed more for entertainment that information like Tenya's were.
"I use puzzles like that to keep my brain in shape." Ayano said. "It helps overall with my quirk to keep my brain activity as active as possible and to challenge it when I can. Those puzzles were ones that had been a little hard on me compared to the many others I've done, so I kind of just decided to keep them."
She shrugged as she said this as Denki picked up one of the cubes to examine it. Besides all the puzzle cubes laying around, Ayano's room was rather normal. She had a few girly colors in there with her bedspread being a pale lavender and pillows that had flowers on them. She had a matching arm chair in the corner between her bed and closet and had a throw blanket over the back of it. There was simple white rug in the center of the room with a round coffee table in the center. The curtain over the door to her balcony was white as well.
She then had a simple desk against the opposite side of her bed with a few more books and a desk lamp. Next to the desk was a drawer with a mirror attached to the back. A few knickknacks were on the drawer's top. Overall, Ayano's room screamed neat. Everything was in place and obvious had a certain purpose for being where they were. Though one other things that stood out was the collage if pictures on the wall where Ayano's bed was located. Many were images of Ayano and her family when she was younger while others were of her, Katsuki, and Izuku.
The three of them dressed for their first day of kindergarten. A couple of birthday parties. Or just random candid ones of the three of them interacting. Like one where Izuku was watching nervously in the background as Katsuki and Ayano were fighting.
"Forget all those puzzles, look at the pictures." Hanta said pointing.
"Yeah, there's so many of them," Mina agreed.
Ayano blushed slightly as her classmates took an interest in all the photos on her wall.
"Well, yeah, mine, Izuku, and Katsuki's lives together have been pretty well documented." Ayano said. "Between their mothers and Ko, almost every important moment and even some smalls ones were captured. I didn't feel right leaving them behind to just sit in a box, so I brought them with me."
Mitsuki already had her own copies at her house, and Ayano didn't have her apartment anymore to decorate with them. So, the only option seemed to be that she decorate her dorm with them.
"I know it's rather plain in here." Ayano said. "I'm sure yours are much more interesting than mine."
"No, it's nice in here!" Toru assured her. "You should have seen some of the boys' dorms. Shoji literally only had a futon and a desk."
That's when Mina explained that they've already went through all the boys' dorms. Well, all of them but Minoru for obvious reasons, Katsuki who turned in already, and Hachiro who was still unpacking.
"I could have sworn I heard him running power tools in there, so there's no telling what he's doing," Eijiro said.
"Probably completely remodeling the place like Todoroki did." Denki quipped as he looked at said boy.
Shoto just blinked in return. Ayano was a bit curious about what they meant by that, but she decided not to ask.
"Anyway, we started with you when we started the girls' turn." Ochaco said. "Want to join us for the rest of the tour?"
"…Sure…" Ayano said with a small shrug.
"Great!" Toru said. "Ko-Toshi's room is next!"
And that's how Ayano joined the very first 1-A Best Room Contest. It seemed a little ridiculous to her, but if it made her friends happy, she'd go along with it. Besides, it was nice to just goof off from time to time.
Coco: And that brings an end to the triple update! I hope you guys enjoyed it. I'm just glad to finally say Katsuki and Ayano are starting their little relationship. Don't expect a lot of lovey-dovey stuff in the beginning. I feel like it's mostly going to be the same for a bit between them just with some affection thrown in here and there and more jealous Katsuki and blushing Ayano. They'll work their way up to the more romantic stuff as the story goes on. But you'll definitely be seeing some changes, I promise. I didn't make you all wait this long for them to get together just to keep things the exact same between them.
Also, if you guys are actually interested in seeing the other three OCs' rooms, let me know. I can write them out in little bonus chapter endings like I did with that scene with Kota at the end of a chapter. Or kind of do them like I do the OC profiles. If you want, you all can even help me design the rooms. How do you think Hachiro, Konan, and Ayumi would design their rooms? Any thoughts? XD I'd love to hear from you.
Now until next time, everyone! In the next chapter, we'll be working on some ultimate moves. And since I've been lazy and have been putting it off, I have none in mind for any of my OCs...so...we'll see how this goes XD
