Chapter 9 Granny
Regina still sneaked out at night with the threat of Cora always keeping an eye on her either personally by her maids or the guards. But that still didn't stop her. She knew there was no way around changing Cora's mind so she was doing what she had to, what she was being forced to do.
It had been a week since that night when Regina told Ruby of the proposal. They had been sneaky around and preparing to flee from both of their families, making sure no one suspects a thing.
Regina even pressured her mother to tell from whom the proposal was from and why right now. Why Cora didn't tell her or discuss it with her prior to this time? It frustrated her that mother was doing what ever she wanted with her life and her father couldn't do a damn thing about it.
Ruby on the other side was dodging granny's questions left and right. Granny had been on her ass a lot more lately, keeping tabs on her every move. It has become very difficult for Ruby to sneak around at night but she managed to get lucky every time. She just didn't want to risk her luck running out.
Her and Regina had to make their move right away, pretty soon. And tonight was that night they would leave all this behind and start their own life the way they want to.
Ruby was packing her stuff in a bag, only the stuff she thought she need for this endeavor. There wasn't a lot she wanted to take anyways. Right when she was done packing granny came bursting through her door in a hurry.
"Granny what the hell?!" Ruby growled out as she looked over at Granny's face to notice her breathing heavy and blood all over her.
Granny retracted her wolf teeth and looked at Ruby and the bag next to her.
"Where do you think you are going ?" Granny asked with such a calmness in her voice that it sent a chill down Ruby's spine.
Ruby decided she didn't have to explain or tell everything to granny. She could make her own decisions and live her life how she likes it.
"I'm leaving….forever" Ruby admitted looking right into granny's eyes.
Granny growled at the statement and almost felt her wolf come out again. But she contained it right away.
"You don't know what you are doing Ruby?" Granny said as she shook her head as she went past Ruby and took a seat on her bed.
"Granny…I don't want to fight with you. From what I can see you don't either. So just let me go" she said as she turned around to look at granny and her bloody face and clothes.
Granny let out a sigh. "You and that girl…you should let her go" granny finally said.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Ruby asked as she dropped the bag on the floor and stood in front of Granny. Ready to let her wolf come out.
Before Ruby could bring forth her wolf, granny quickly got up from the bed and pushed Ruby against the wall by her throat.
"Do you even know what's been happening to our kin? Huh? Whose been killing them off, one by one?!" Granny asked as she snarled at Ruby who was gasping for air by now.
Granny let go and Ruby fell to the floor hard trying to catch air in her lungs.
"I….cough…don't….gasp….care" Ruby let out as she tried to get up on her feet. Before she could get up, she felt herself touch the wall again as Granny knocked the air out of her and held her there.
"Trust me you will. You will care if I told you it was her mother that killed your mother. And now she's going to kill every last one of us. Including you" Granny explained as she let Ruby's body fall to the ground.
Ruby couldn't help her get in a fetal position as she wrapped her arms around her stomach from the pain. She also had blood dripping out of her mouth from how hard Granny punched her.
"You…re lying…you're…lying" she wheezed out as she tried to muster up her strength to stand up again.
"If you don't believe me. Ask anyone else of your kind and they will tell you the same." Granny said as she looked down at Ruby's body and turned around to leave the room.
"There is no future for the both of you. I suggest you forget about that girl and grow up so you can learn to fight and defend your kin against our enemies" That was the last thing Ruby heard as she saw granny leave the room and feel her eyes close shut.
That night Regina waited and waited for Ruby to show up. She felt tears pour out of her eyes as the time went by and there was no sign of Ruby. Her heart broke at the thought that Ruby didn't really love her. She couldn't understand why Ruby would leave her like this. She didn't want to turn back either. She didn't know what to do.
She stayed under the apple tree, crying all night. She felt so numb to the core. Her hopes shattered into pieces. She got up on her feet as she noticed the sun was about to be up. She gather herself and her items and headed back to the castle where her future was certain to be decided and be miserable because of her mother.
