Glynda briskly entered the room and began to pace around the table,"I hope that you both realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady. You put yourselves and others in great danger." Glynda berated the teens.

Ruby shouted back ,"They started it!" while Zäch snorted at the implication that they were in danger. Glynda narrowed her eyes at the attitude of the boy...no monster. The teacher grit her teeth. She wasn't exactly exited to see that the last grey eyed warrior hang out with the alien raised killer. But at the same time it would be ideal to have a huntress with such potential keep an eye on someone so potentially...destructive.

The combat teacher narrowed here eyes and said,"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back..."

Ruby's smiled at what the teadher was telling her while Zäch kept his steady stare at the professor. Glynda tensed up and said briskley,"...And a slap on the wrist." she demonstrates her with her riding crop, which barely missed Ruby's hand. The sound of a crop however, garnered a reaction from Zäch. Like most of his reactions it was imperceptible to the untrained eye, but to Glynda's eyes for the briefest of moments she caught a glimpse of what zäch was hiding underneath the tight knit emotionless curtain. And what she saw made her frown for the briefest moment, it made no sense. She decided to keep what she gleaned to herself.

Glynda sighed,"But... there is someone here who would like to meet you."

She moved out of the way so so the pair of warriors could see a man in green come through the doorway, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.

Zäch grunted what ozpin would guess be a hello. The ancient headmaster turned to talk to the young reaper,"Ruby Rose...You... have silver eyes."

Ruby rose was flustered and trued to stammer out a response but was interrupted by Ozpin,"So! Where did you learn to do this?"

He motioned with his head at the scroll showing Ruby fighting alongside zäch

The red repear stuttered"S-Signal Academy."

Ozpin asked her,"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"

Zäch snorted at the implication that Crescent Rose was the most dangerous weapon ever designed. He knew of weapons that were designed to kill everything before it's barrel as well as the one who pulls the trigger. Ruby replied,"Well, one teacher in particular."

Ozpin pushed up his glasses, "I see..."

He puts the cookies on the table in front of Ruby. She tentatively picks one up, eats it in a single bite, and then, not seeing any rebuttal, shovels the rest into her mouth. Zäch decided to adhere to the ancient Chainbreaker adage: if someone you don't trust offers you food there is a 45% chance that its poison.

The headmaster mused,"It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..."zäch inwardly wondered if the qrow could teach him a few techniques. Although he would overpower the man in raw strength due to the implants and other bio-mods it still meeded refinement and who knows maybe he could learn something to fight Th'toff at their next spar, unlikley it will work.

Ruby mumblef through her mouth filled with cookie crumbs,"Oh! That's my uncle!" She then swallows and wipes her mouth, embarrassed and said,"Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!" Zäch smiled watching how innocent the young warrior was. The smile died when he realized that it wouldn't last long

Ozpin on his part was happy that the boy showed some other emotion besides scowling,"So I've noticed. And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"

Ruby said,"Well... I want to be a Huntress."

Ozpin"You want to slay monsters?"

Zäch spoke for the first time,"No shit." Causing Glynda to grit her teeth at the murderer's slight.

Ruby,"Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon!" Zäch wondered what would happen to the huntsman who dedicated their lives to the art of monster hunting after the grimm were dealt with. He darkly smiled as he came up with a few ideas, all of them extremely dangerous.

Ruby began to ramble faster and faster. As her words become indiscernible from the preceding and proceeding words the warrior, headmaster and disciplinarian all stare at her, amused and slightly unnerved by the seemingly endless amount of energy and joy the young reaper exuded. Once she finished ozpin asked her,"Do you know who I am?"Zäch rolled his eyes, this conversation was pretty predictable, he's delt with politicians before.

Ruby tentatively said,"You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon."

They exchanged greetings and the headmaster asked the young huntress if she wanted to be a student at his academy.

Ruby rose smiled and said"More than anything"

Ozpin exchanges glances with Glynda, who shows her approval much to Ozpin's suprise. He turns back to Ruby and says,"welcome to beacon

Ruby smiles, wide-eyed and open-mouthed.

"Now if you may wait outside my associate and I need to talk to Zäch here alone." His tone carrying no hint of ill will towards the boy, yet still unnerving ruby.

Ruby turned to her new friend but he gave her a reassuring nod. She got out of her chair and exited the room.

The room was quiet until Glynda said,"before you say anything Ozpin i just want to make one thing clear, i will not allow him to participate in combat class unless he can-"

Zäch interrupted "I'm not some loose cannon who goes around indiscriminately murdering people"

"You just murdered ten people!"

"You're still on that?"

"IT WAS LESS THEN AN HOUR AGO!"

"Sheesh, What crawled up and died in your canyon this morning?"

Glynda's face turned a dangerously angry shade of red as she sputtered for a response but was interrupted by ozpin,"i understand that you have a way of dealing with criminals out there, but while you're here i ask that you do things our way from now on. All security and traces of your incident have been scrubbed and the only witness so far has corroborated with the official report of a freak windgust"

The boy sighed, then his face contorted into an extremely forced smile as he seethed out,"f i n e. Anything else?" It would help him avoid unnecessary headaches if he cooperated with them until the cards were on the table.

Ozpin opened his mouth but was interrupted by Glynda"An assurance that you wont kill any of our students"

Ozpin sughed as Zäch cackled before replying,"lady i kill only slavers and criminals who deserve it. I won't kill anyone who doesn't try to kill me"

Glynda seemed to begrudgingly accept what the boy said. Realizing that if Ozpin was afraid of these Chainbreakers it was for good reason. And she just found out why. The corpses chilling in the basement were a testament to the brutality of the Chainbreakers.

"However"

Both teachers stopped their thinking and waited in baited breath

"If your students do choose to fight me. They may come out slightly damaged" Zäch said sinisterly.

Ozpin tapped his fingers on his desk. He recalled the book's advice on how to fight a Chainbreaker in the upper strength percentile such as Zäch.

"Chainbreakers in this percentile have undergone extreme body modification surgery. two primary mods are the following. A subdermal energy absorption matrix and a subdermal kinetic absorption lattice. These modifications render energy and most projectile based weaponry ineffective. This of course is only the beginning of the operations. All chainbreakers tend to have additional implants mostly for fine tuning their combat performance. If you want to damage a Chainbreaker in this category you have to cut them at close range..but that is easier said then done."

He was shaken out of his thoughts by a voice,"let's chat"

Teb had silently burst through one of the window's and glowered down onto the professor.

Ozpin steadied himself and said,"before we begin i would like to know why you lied to us"

Teb cocked a brow,"what do you mean"

"Your over four million years old."

"And i only remember half a million of it" the bastard mornfully replied

Ozpin turned his head and silently asking a question. Teb sighed and sat crosse legged on the floor so that he was eye level with Ozpin,"think of it like deleting old pictures when your scroll's data banks get filled."

Ozpin nodded in understanding,"so you don't remember the beginning?"

The blue bastard pulled a can of bleach from his pocket and opened it,"my first memory is fighting alongside my brothers on Katarius...i don't remember or more accurately do not know if i had parents, a childhood."

Teb leaned in and whispered into the headmasters ear,"with every new day i live, the first one i remember dies"

Ozpin was silent processing what Teb had said. He changed the topic,"What did you come here to talk about?"

Teb's demeanor changed. To ozpin it felt as if a large weight descended on each individual cell of his body. Teb's face started to warp. Out of the shifting mass of blue skin came An unsettling, uncomfortable and all around unpleaseant smile. It eerily adorned the blue bastards face as he said,"assuming the book did his job and told you and the bird everything about the Chainbreakers. You understand the situation. Your planet has four years to get its act together or we will do it for you...forcibly."

Ozpin knew there was no room for negotiation yet he came up with an idea,"if the kingdom of atlas refuses to change and the other kingdoms sever their ties will you still attack"

Teb paused having not thought that ozpin would try this,"i suppose if you do that within two years, i'll let the kingdom's who do so slide" the being hummed. Ozpin sighed, if ironwood proved to be disagreeable he had a way out. His current priority was keeping as many people alive as he could. The headmasters fingers tapped the desk,"there is a situation i was hoping you could adress."

Teb's face blinked back to normal and he motioned for the headmaster to go on,"on our world the grimm have a ruler, a queen. Her name is Salem. Current intelligence reports around the kingdom lead me to believe that that she will strike here next."

Teb flatly said,"and what do you want me to do about it?"

Ozpin took in his first shaky breath in a long time,"I was hoping that you could apprehend her prior to her-"

No.

Ozpin stopped in his sentence in midway. He didn't hear that. He didn't see Teb's lips move. No, he felt that. Deep within him.

"Tell me this...Salem, does she enslave anyone?"

Ozpin couldn't stop himself from speaking,"not that i am aware of."

Teb stood back up and said,"then as far as im concerned she isn't my problem, she is yours."

Ozpin stood up and said,"but you promised to keep this school safe"

Teb mirthfully chuckled and said,"that was before i learned that this academy benefits from a deal made with the SDC that gives its students free access to dust. For a nominal fee. So from a certain perspective your actively funding the enslavement of several hundred thousand Faunus."

Ozpin sighed,"you don't understan-"

"No; you don't" teb simply replied,"headmaster ozpin I don't think you understand the situation your planet is in right now. If after 4 years there is still a single faunus working against their will in those freezing death camps you savages call mines. We will kill everyone who was involved and currently your on that really long list."

Suddenly the pressing atmosphere disappeared as teb went back to his cheerful demeanor,"now i gotta go make some dinner, ill just let you ruminate on that oh and before i go."

The blue bastard reached into his pocket and grabbed a pill. Unlike the black pills he used to repair Qrow and Winter, this one had a sickly green glow but that wasn't what ozpin had picked up on. it was the magical energy radiating from it that caught his attention.

"What is this?"the headmaster asked.

Teb rubbed the back of his head,"i noticed that your magical core looked like crap, its as if someone ripped it apart. I don't really care how it happened but it would be inconvenient to me if you died now. This pill should help, it was designed by our head magical researchers."

Ozpin looked at the pill with suspicion he wasn't going to take it but maybe studying it could give him some clue as to how advanced their knowledge of magic was. Ozpin pocketed the pill and thanked the bastard who gave a curt nod.

"Before you go..." the headmaster started. He took a breath.

"The book...He mentioned something curious" Ozpin began,"he said you were capable of-"

Teb interrupted him,"yes...i am"

Ozpin's eyes widened. What the book had told him was too ludicrous. He couldn't or more accurately didn't want to believe that such a power existed. But he couldn't take any chances, not anymore.

"I see." The defeated headmaster said.

The bastard nodded and just like that he vanished leaving another hole in the wall in his wake. Ozpin sighed as he relaxed into his chair. This situation, no, this reality was getting out of hand. He was so used to being the chess player, moving the pieces. But now he finds himself like them, on a board being moved.

Like a pawn.

Zäch groaned. The last six months have been exhausting. Their world tour gave him an insight into his worlds inner workings. He didn't like a single one.

But for now his primary mission was to focus on his academics. Zäch sighed on one hand here he was, home. But it wasn't what he had yearned for. He had hoped that his people would better then the others. But the harsh reality of the cruelty of his people crushed that hope. Thankfully he had enough spare time for...extracurriculars.

He gazed down from his perch at the academy courtyard, trying to find ruby. He had no intention nor any desire to increase his social circle. He had difficulty socializing him having legal permission to kill anyone he deems so and all.

He then sighed remembering the agreement. That was getting on his nerves quicker then he thought. He then spotted Ruby and Yang. He snaked his way down. And onto the ground. Some students noticed him and whispered. It was to be expected. Much to his chagrin zach had for whatever reason been given a psuedo celebrety status by the press. Most of the attention had been focused on Teb but his appearance on the mass media had led him to garnering a fanbase. It is usually frowned upon in the chain-breakers to be glorified by outsiders who don't understand their ways. So this situation was a conundrum. He cringed as he remembered the first creepy fan-letter he got. Never thought he would be asked to "plant a star child in my uterus."

He shuddered as he began to make his way towards the sisters. He then saw Yang join a gaggle of humans and bolt so fast that it send ruby tumbling into...oh great her. He had read the heiress's file. It was fortunate for Weiss that she was enrolled here. Otherwise Zäch would not have hesitated to snap her neck the moment he saw her.

Ruby slammed backwards into a luggage cart, sending cases flying. Weiss was standing over her an indignant expression adorning her face,"What are you doing?!" She asked. Her voice carried a poumpus noble arrogance to it.

Ruby got up and held her hands pacifying lying"Uh, sorry!" She attempted to apologize, unfortunately Weiss was having none of it

"Sorry?! Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?" This child had no right to be here amongst the best of the best, she was referring to herself naturally.

Ruby picked up one of the suitcases,"Uuhhh..."

Weiss snatched the case from ruby,"Give me that!" The heiress opened it to reveal its twinkling-sounding contents "This is Dust - mined and purified from the Schnee quarry!" She said in a hoity toity tone.

Ruby was at a loss for words, not because she didn't understand what weiss had said. She just never met someone this...full of themselves. She was at a loss for words.

Weiss got agitated at Ruby's silence,"What are you, brain-dead?" She snatched a vial of red Dust from the case and snapped it shut. She began to shake the jar "Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!" Dust flittered into the air causing zäch's eyes to widened. He needed to stop this fast initiall studies of dust had revealed this family of elements to be particularly unstable. "Stop shaking it!" He attempted to shout but his voice was drowned out by a crowd of students.

Ruby nose was getting tickled by the ticking dusty time bomb,"I... I know..." she started coughing from the Dust pouring into her face.

Weiss so headstrong not realizing the inevitable disasted she was creating said,"Are you even listening to me? Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself?!"

Ruby's nose at this point decided to go on strike because of this totally ridiculous amount of Dust it was receiving which it promptly and violently rejected.

She sneezed. The minor explosion that ensued was a medly of snow fire and lightning and engulfed both Ruby and the heiress. The bottle that weiss had been holding flies over the courtyard and at the feet of Blake Belladonna, who picks it up and notices the Schnee Dust Company logo on the side.

Weiss was covered in soot,"Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!" She said angrily

Ruby was apologetic and embarrassed by the situation she seemed to have caused "I'm really, really sorry!"

The Heiress wasn't having any of it,"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?"

Ruby attempted to stammer out a response,"Well, I-I..." but at that moment zach stepped in.

"It wasn't her fault." A new voice interrupted. Ruby turned to the familiar voice and smiled. It was zäch...he seemed mad for some reason.

"It was yours." The boy sneered at schnee. The heiress finished wafting the smoke out of her face when she bitterly said,"who do you think you-"

Her voice stopped when she saw zäch. Of course she had heard of the space-kid, the whole world knew about him.

This was an opportunity to make friends in the highest of places. If she could just sway him or convince him to work with her. They would be unbeatable

Weiss's plotting was rather unfortunate for her. No matter what she said it wasn't going to work. Unbeknownst to weiss, Zäch was fighting every single one of his instincts.

Why?

All of his instincs were screeching at him to rip her pretty little face off. He was after all trained to execute known slavers on sight.

Weiss stepped foward,"I'm sorry but I believe we havent met, my name is Weiss Schnee, and you are Zäch Fröst?" her sudden shift from an angry brat to a trained diplomate made ruby sweat drop. Weiss however wasn't going to waist the networking opportunity of a lifetime

Zäch didn't react. Not even a smidgen. Weiss waited for a beat then continued,"although im sure you haven't heard of me im-"

"The heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world." A new voice said. The group turned to see a black haired teen. It was Blake belladonna. She was holding the dust vial examining it.

Weiss was getting tired of getting interrupted but she didn't let the faunus distract her,"She is correct. We are-"

Blake interrupted the bratty heiress again,"A company famous for company infamsial labor forces and questionable business partners."

Weiss jaw was slightly ajar, incensed that a a stranger would have the nerve to call her out to her face, Ruby's chuckling only frayed her nerves while Zäch let slip the smallest of smiles. "Wha- How dare- The nerve of... Ugh!" The heiress stuttered for a bit before deciding to cut her losses. Weiss gets up in Blake's face and snatches the bottle from the faunus' hands, and walks off in a huff as her helpers gather the luggage and follow her into the academy walls.

Ruby called out to the fuming Weiss, still apologetic about the whole ordeal,"I promise I'll make this up to you! ; I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day... So, what's..." sees Blake walking off as well, then turns to Zäch and says,"well at least your still here" she smiled at her new friend.

Zäch tried to smile back at her. Unfortunately it came off as really creepy causing ruby to nervously chuckle. Suddenly they here someone coughing for attention behind them.

They saw a tall blond kid, he was a foot taller then Zäch , something which would irritate the young Chainbreaker to no end.

Jaune held out his hand in friendship and gave the pair a greeting,"Hey... I'm Jaune."

Ruby took his hand,"Ruby." she greeted. Jaune turned to Zäch and once more extended a hand. Zach had finished reading an automatically compiled database on Jaune.

Zäch shook the boy's hand and briskly said,"Zäch"

"Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?" Ruby bluntly asked.

The trio were walking along a path they hoped lead to the meeting hall. Inside the walls of the academy the well maintained garden was filled with scenic trees, arching architecture, and a winding road alongside a river, down which Ruby, Zäch and Jaune are walking.

Jaune."All I'm saying is that motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on!"

"That sounds like a horrible disease, we might have a cure for it"zäch softly muttered

Ruby was laughing, "Look, I'm sorry! Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind."

Jaune quickly thought of a retort"Oh, yeah? What if I called you Crater Face?"

Ruby,"Hey, that explosion was an accident!"

Zäch spoke up,"it wasn't your fault ruby, it was the heiress's fault"

Ruby protested,"but if i didn't stumble into the suitcase then i woul-"

"She's the one that shook the loose dust vial in your face" Zäch pointed out.

Ruby just shook her head. Jaune chuckled at the scene before deciding to fully introduce himself,"Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue - ladies love it!"

Zäch skeptically asked, "Do they?"

Jaune shining knight smile faltered as reality returned"They will! Well, I-I hope they will. My mom always says that... Never mind."

Ruby giggles before a short, awkward silence fall. She decides to break ice by saying, "So... I got this thing!" Then ruby pulled out Crescent Rose and stabs it into the ground. The sight impressing both boys. Zäch finally managed to get an up close look at the mean weapon he saw the night he met ruby.

Jaune was in awe at the sight before him, "Whoa! Is that a scythe?"

Ruby was giddy at their reactions,"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!"

Unlike zach who understood every syllable Jaune wasn't fluent in gunglish, "A-wha...?"

Ruby lovingly cocks cresent rose and smiles,"It's also a gun."

Jaune,"Oh. That's cool!"

Ruby giggled at the boys reactions,"So what've you got?" She asked the young knight.

The young knight replied,"Oh! I, uh...I got this sword!"

Ruby began to hype the weapon, "Ooooohh!"

Jaune then pulled his trick move "Yeah, and I've got a shield, too!" Jaune grabbed his scabbard, raises his arm and expands the metal into its defensive mode

Ruby touching the shield asked her new friend, "So, what do they do?"

Jaune fumbled with the shield's ancient mechanisms as it retracts off his arm, expands, and retracts again before putting it back in place and finally shrinking it down for good, placing it on his belts "The shield gets smaller, so when I get tired of carrying it, I can just... put it away..."

Zächs shot a questioning gaze at ruby who returned it. The weapon expert asked, "But... wouldn't it weigh the same?"

Jaune, "Yeah, it does..."

Ruby chuckled,"Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons, sooo... I guess I did go a little overboard when designing it."

Jaune and zäch were both suprised,"Wait - you made that?!" The young knight said at the same time the Chainbreakers said,"you mean you fabricated it...yourself?"

Ruby,"Of course! All students at Signal forge their own weapons! Didn't you make yours?"

Jaune said,"It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war."

Ruby, "Sounds more like a family heirloom to me!" The reaper laughed, "Well, I like it! Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days."

Jaune sheathed his sword,"Yeah, the classics...What about you? What do you use?" The teen then asked zäch.

The boy grimly smiled,"it depends on the situation, but i guess i can show you a sample of my arsenal...hold on a sec."

He acsessed the holographic computer intergrated into his metal arm. He typed away at a few buttons and suddenly a locker appeared next to him. The boy had a manic grin,"these locker things the academy gives you, so cool!" He went over to it and typed in the access code and pulled out.

Both of their jaws dropped at the sight of the firearm. It was the single biggest assault rifle either of them had ever seen. The barrel was wide enough to fit a full grown human comfortably inside. It looked as if the gunsmith who birthed this giant just said,"hey! Lets just make a portable automatic assault rifle that fires heavy duty artillery shells!"

Ruby's and Jaunes jaws were dropping both for different reasons. Ruby because it was the biggest gun she'd ever seen. She had so many questions,"how does it stay in one piece?" She muttered under her breath. Her knowledge in engineering told her that something that big couldn't maintain structural integrity while firing.

And jaune jaw dropped because he wondered how the hell zack fit it in the locker.

"What is it?" Ruby asked in hushed tone filled with wonder.

"This GAK-999 . It fires FO-950 shells at a rate of 120 Rounds per minute"

Ruby chuckled,"thats not very fast"

Zach gleefully caressed his firearm,"what this beaut lacks fire-rate they make it up in sheer destructive capability. Think of it like this: point, pull, delete. However alongside its low ammo capacity it is horribly inaccurate. Thankfully it doesn't need to be" His smile only widened but then faded as he placed the firearm back inside the locker,"but i don't tend to use it too frequently, i use mostly when dealing with armies, swarming serpents and the like. But since i tend to focus on missions which require more...finesse, it doesn't tend to see much action."

He turned around only to come face to face with Ruby's eyes. He stopped for a second trying to figure out what ruby wanted him to.

"Can you please use it during initiation?" Ruby asked.

And zäch answered without thinking,"yes!"

Ruby jumped excited to see the massive firearm in action. While zäch frowned. It hadn't been his intention to say yes. He wondered why he did.

Jaune was scared to see what that thing could do. Hell it was litterally as big as Zäch. He also hoped he misheard Zäch said he fought armies.

Zach placed the firearm back in the locker and sent it back into the sky. The teen was gleefully cackling at the sight of the lockers flinging itself into the air. He was interested in seeing if this could be applied to their ships. Having weapons delivered to you no matter where on a planet could prove to be tactically useful.

The group walked down towards the path. Enjoying the silence and nature before ruby said,"Hey, where are we going?"

Jaune spun trying to orient himself "Oh, I don't know! I was following you." The blonde teen looked around for a map of some kind ,"You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some sort of recognizable landmark? Is, uh... Is that a 'no'?"

Zäch chuckled at the boys antics while Ruby laughed and said,"That's a 'no'."

Ruby, Zäch and Jaune entering Beacon Academy's giant auditorium, filled to the brim with people. Ruby looks over when she hears Yang's voice.

Yang shouts over to her sister,"Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!"

Ruby turns to Jaune,"Oh! Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony! Come on Zäch" zach apologetically shrugged at jaune before following ruby away.

Jaune tried to follow them but it was in vain,"Hey, wait! Ah, great. Where am I supposed to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to?!" Jaune walked on to an errant direction. Unbeknownst to him Pyrrha Nikos had been standing behind him, hand on her hips as she watches him walk away.

Once Ruby joins her, yang crosses her arms,"How's your first day going, little sister?"

She then noticed zäch behind her,"Hey Zäch"

The teen nodded his mind elsewhere.

Ruby fumed,"You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?"

Yang chuckled,"Yikes! Meltdown already?"

Ruby groaned,"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice...?"

Yang smiled brightly thinking her sister was exaggerating,"Are you being sarcastic?"

Ruby scoffed as she recanted her ordeal," I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!"

Weiss overheard ruby and didn't like what the young reaper had to say. The heiress made her presence known,"You!"

Ruby turned around and quickly jumped into her sister's arms,"Oh, God, it's happening again!"

Weiss,"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!"

Yang eyes widened when she realized her sisters story was no fable,"Oh my God, you really exploded."

Ruby defended herself,"It was an accident!"

Weiss holds up a pamphlet titled DUST for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals silencing Ruby who asked her,"What's this?"

Zäch asked,"can i see that?"

Weiss gave him the pamphlet she begins to rapidly list off policies to a clueless and horrified Ruby,"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field."

Ruby's jaw was slowly getting lower as her brain had trouble making out coherent words,"Uuhhh...?"

Weiss huffed,"You really wanna start making things up to me?"

Ruby cringed as she affirmed,"yes".

Weiss pointed to the pamphlet that zächs was reading,"Read this, and don't ever speak to me again."

Yang wanted to help her sister repair chasm between her and Weiss, however yang could tell that Weiss was the type of person to stick to her guns, no matter how wrong bratty it makes her look,"Look, uh, it sounds like you two just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?"

Ruby nodded and smiled naively at her sisters suggestion ," Yeah! Great idea, sis!" Ruby held out a welcoming hand as she clears her throat,"Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!"

Weiss decided to play along seemingly enthusiastic,"Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blond, and scraggly over there!"

Jaune neurons must've inhaled some funky hormones because he thought Weiss was expressing some attraction to him. Something that was statistically as improbable as a black hole devouring a white hole.

Ruby however was excited by Weiss's deceptive enthusiasm,"Wow, really?!"

Weiss returned Ruby hopeful exclamation with a deadly lead filled glare and a glacial,"No."

The groups attention was suddenly drawn to the stage, where Professor Ozpin was readying the microphone, with Glynda beside him.

Ozpin took a breath and began to greet the students,"I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."

As Ozpin leaves the stage, Glynda steps up to give directions to the initiates,"You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed."

Yang was getting an odd feeling seeing how Ozpin carried himself,"He seemed kind of... off."

Ruby added,"It's almost like he wasn't even there."

Jaune deciding now would be the best moment to shoot his shot approached Weiss from the side,"I'm a natural blond, you know!"

Weiss proceeded to facepalm in exasperation. She was surrounded by a sea of dolts.

The first night at Beacon, students are splayed out in sleeping bags. Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her, similarly dressed. Zäch stayed nearby the pair still reading the pamphlet. He was slowly preparing a legal case against Weiss schnee and the sdc for dust handling malpractice. He wasn't an attorney but he could find one. And so far the pamphlet detailing the legal liabilities of the sdc was proving to be very useful.

He then looked up at the ceiling. He saw Teb slowly floating around aimlessly. He squinted trying to figure out what his dad was up to. His eyes widened in horror as be realized that his dad was sleep flying.

This was bad. Very, very, Bad.

Yang noted herself the amount of initiates. There were roughly a thousand,"It's like a big slumber party!"

Ruby was purposely not looking at Zäch,"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though."

Yang however was of a different mind,"I know I do!"

The blonde boxer purrs as she watches several muscular, shirtless guys walk by. The awesome parade of chiseled and fine tuned muscles was followed by...Jaune... who was dressed in feetie pajamas. Jaune waves to yang seeing her looking at him and once again makes the wrong assumption. Yang groaned seeing the scraggly boy wave at her and returns her attention to Ruby noticing that her sister is typing away at something, "What's that?"

Ruby smiled at her sister,"A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going."

Yang,"Aw, that's so cuuuute!" Yang was knocked back as a pillow courtesy from ruby is launched at her face

The reaper shouted,"Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!"

Yang tried to reassure her sister,"What about Jaune? He's... nice! There you go! Plus one friend! And wait there is Zäch too right? That's a two-hundred percent increase!"

Ruby turns onto her back, "Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative 20 friend. Back to zero..."

Yang shook her head,"There's no such things as negative friends! You just made two friend and one enemy!"

Her input was returned with another pillow to the face,"Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!"

The two sisters notice a candle being lit nearby, and Blake Belladonna was leaning against a wall, reading her book.

Ruby muttered recognizing,"That girl..."

Yang asked,"You know her?"

Ruby shrugged,"Not really. She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything."

Yang shouted,"Well, now's your chance!" Yang grabs Ruby's arm and lifts her up suprising the reaper,"Wait! What are you doing?!"

Blake looked over her book towards the source of all of the commotion only to see Ruby unsuccessfully struggling against Yang's grip as she leads her sister over to Blake's spot before letting go.

Yang obtained the faunus's attention with a sing song tonwe,"Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?"

Blake momentarily puts her book down recognizing the reaper,"Aren't you... that girl that exploded?"

Ruby embarrassed by being recognised,"Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Crater...Actually, you can just call me Ruby."

Blake was silent for a smidgen before diving nose first back into her book,Okay.

Yang whispered to Ruby,"What are you doing?"

Ruby whispered back, "I don't know - help me!" She turns back to Blake smiling as if nothing was amiss.

The blonde boxer asked,"So... What's your name?"

Blake sighed once more realizing that she wasn't going to finish her book until after this...interrogation,"Blake."

Yang smiled,"Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!"

Blake thanked her through her teeth,"Thanks!" She just wanted to finish her book.

Yang attempted to complement her,"It goes great with your... pajamas!"

Blake simply replied,"Right..."

Yang attempted to strike a conversation for the third time as Ruby laughs uncomfortably,"Nice night, don't you think?"

Unfortunately yang struck out as Blake made her feelings clear,"Yes - it's lovely! Almost as lovely as this book! That I will continue to read. As soon as two you leave!"

Yang turns to Ruby,"Yeah, this girl's a lost cause."

Ruby looked over to Blake and asked her,"What's it about?"

Blake was surprised,"Huh?"

Ruby asked once more,"Your book. Does it have a name?"

Blake gave her a resume,"Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body."

Yang sarcastically complemented the plot,"Oh, yeah... That's real lovely!"

Ruby gave a small smile,"I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!"

Blake laughs a little at the innocence before her,"And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?"

Ruby smiled shone even brighter,"Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!"

Blake chuckled,"That's... very ambitious for a child. Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."

Ruby smiled again,"Well, that's why we're here! To make it better."

Yang smiled,"Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister! The boxer snatched her sister hugs her into the air

Ruby flails desperately trying to get out of her sisters bear hug," Cut it out!"

the forced sisterly bonding eventually devolved into a little brawl.

Blake laughed at the pair,"Well, Ruby, Yang, it's a pleasure to ha-"

Weiss storms toward the commotion in her own pajamas interrupting Blake,"What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?"

Once Weiss and Yang see each other they both say,"Oh, not you again!"

Ruby tried to use this moment to mend her frayed relationship with the heiress,"Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!"

It didn't work,"Oh, now you're on my side!"

Ruby replied,"I was always on your side!"

Yang came to her sisters aide,"Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!"

Before Weiss could even respond Zäch interrupted them. He whisper snarled,"all of you shut the fuck up!"

Weiss spunn around incensed at the boy's rudeness ,"EXCUS-" but she was shushed once again. It was then the group noticed the panicked expression plastered on the space warriors face. Ruby tentatively asked,"Zäch...what's wrong?"

The killer teen pointed towards the ceiling. The group turned their heads and saw Teb floating aimlessly around the cieling.

"What is he doing?" Blake asked

Zäch took in shaky breath and said,"sleep flying"

Weiss flatly said,"so...why are you scared?"

Zäch began to unravel the bundle of rope and fashioned it into a lasso,"Y'all don't seem to realize how much danger we are in."

Blake put her book down. This was far more interesting,"How are we in danger? he is just sleeping...right?"

Zach pause for a minute before staring straight into Blake's eyes. In a flat calm tone he said,"Imagine what would happen if he suddenly crashed down onto the floor at mach 20. There would be Massive seismic activity on a global scale. It may be so severe that the quakes could potentially fracture your planet causing the death of all life as you know it on your world..." the group was silent now realizing the possible implications if their situation. Zach took a in a shaky breath. He then gave his best...attempt at a reassuring smile,"so no stress right?"

Zach gripped the lasso once more as he He spun it threw it and snagged Teb's legs. With great effort the teen began pulling the floating body of his father down.

"So this is the alien?" Weiss said staring at the body

"That's racist" zäch said as he strained to drag the body out the door.

The heiress sputtered and was about to shout again but was shushed by the rest of the group who were now trying to help zäch move teb out the door.

Weiss whispered,"How is that racist?"

Zäch and the others strained to drag the bastards body out of the door. Zäch rolled his eyes at Weiss's response,"Well we all live in the same universe. So from a certain perspective we are all from the same place, ergo there is no such thing as an alien here."

"But he isn't from this planet though" Weiss protested but she realized she was talking to no one since the group had finally succeeded in dragging teb out the window. Weiss huffed and walked outside to see Zäch gently pulling Teb's body around like a large blue birthday balloon.

Weiss was about to open her mouth when she heard a voice behind her say,"what do you all think your doing?"

The group minus zäch,who was busy trying to find a suitable anchor spot for teb, turned to face the speaker.

The speaker in question was Glynda Goodwitch and from the look on her face she didn't seem to be amused by the sight before her,"Zäch Fröst." She sneered. She knew that this boy was going to be trouble,"you were given specific instructions to remain withing the assembly hall on your first night-"

"Shh" the teen shushed not out of rudness but because he noticed teb floating body vibrating.

That wasn't good.

"DID YOU SPEAK BACK TO ME?" The disciplinarian said her voice raised causing zäch to cringe. He opened his mouth to retort but was stopped by a curious sound

ThwipThwipThwipThwip

The strange sound drew the eyes of the group to a slowly dwindling pile of rope. Their eyes snakes along the line tracing it from some indeterminate point in the night sky all the way to Zäch's flesh hand to which the other end was tied.

Zäch eyes widened as he braced for the inevitable,"shit."

Zäch's forearm was unceremoniously ripped in half. Weiss shrieked and Ruby felt her heart beat with worry for her new friend. Yang fought the urge to barf while blake and glynda remained cool headed. It wasn't the first time either of them had seen blood, but what suprised them more was zäch reaction.

He was irritated.

"Zäch...are you alright?" Ruby hesitantly asked.

The teen looked at his bleeding stump and shouted angrily,"God dammit!"

He stomped over to the ship which was parked next to the main building. The group followed him. Weiss asking,"how are you not screaming in pain?"

Zäch tapped his skull,"neural pain suppressors, they help me ignore most kinds of pain However...,"

He finally reached the ship and opened up one of the hull containers. He reached for the first aid kit and brought out the emergency prosthetic. Unlike his other hand this one seemed more...archaic. It could do minimal movements and only had three digits.

Zäch whipped the prosthetic causing metal spikes of varying lengths to shootout of the wrist,"they wont help much for this"

The spikes began to glow white hot .The students and teachers eyes widened in horror as the Zäch clutched the prosthetic with his hand and jammed it into his stump making the whole group cringe in empathic pain.

The hiss of his blood evaporating against the metal spikes was soon cut by a loud agonizing scream emanating from the teen. He then collapsed on his knees yang and ruby rushing to his side.

He panted and slowly got up, "you should see a doctor" Blake suggested. It didn't seem logical to her for medical technology to cause internal burns. But she decided to just go along with it.

"Already have one, he's gonna be here in two days." Zäch said; having gotten over the pain he marched over to the side of the ship and redeployed his air-bike.

"Where do you think your going young man, you need medical attention!" Glynda protested but zach didn't turn around. Glynda the grabbed him with her semblance ,"oh no you don't!"

Zäch growled,"Put. Me. Down."

"Not unless you give me one good reason to let you go."

The pair were locked in a staring contest neither of them budging.

Until zach asked glynda,"you ever try to masturbate with a metal hand?"

Glyndas facade broke at the unexpected response to one of utter shock and confusion letting zach go. the sisters bit their fists trying not to laugh while blake remained neutral her face only betraying the smallest of smiles. And weiss shook her head at the teens immaturity.

Zäch got on his bike before he shot into the sky and disappeared from sight he turned as said,"trust me its not pleasant, skin gets pinched in joints, occasional electrocution, chemical burns...you know." And then he was gone

The gathered group stared at the sky. For a moment there was silence.

"Due to the incidents of tonight i will overlook this violations of the codes for student conduct. But this will be your only warning."Glynda said tiredly. It was getting too late at night for this.

The students thanked the headmistress halfheartedly the recent grizzly happening still marred their minds.

"Now get back to bed...chop chop!" Glynda said, she was willing to be patient with space visitors but locals on the other hand.

The students began to walk back to the assembly hall. Suddenly they all heard a loud whine coming from the sky.

There they saw Zach upon his bike. The rope was attached to the back of the bike. It was taught going straight up into the sky. Zächs engines were evidently under a lot of stress, the dim blue glow was replaced by a searing bright blue gleam.

All of a sudden the engine jerked forward as the rope suddenly went slack as Teb floated down. Zach managed to stop the bike a few inches from the floor. He rapidly got off and tossed his forearm to Glynda,"hold this" the teacher caught it with her telekinesis not wanting to get a single scarlet drop on her freshly laundered shirt.

Zach snatched the roped and tied a tight knot around a lamppost. He then walked back towards his bike and snatched a pressurized canister with some writing on it.

He placed it on the ground and proceeded to rip off the temporary metal prosthetic from his stump.

Weiss was bewildered by the sight in front of her "What are you-"she attempted to ask but was shushed by Blake who was observing the medical procedure, curious about the alien medical tech.

Zach applied a small spray on his bleeding stump and tossed the pressurized can to the side. He then grabbed his floating forearm and placed it back on his stump. The skin began to steam as zäch hissed through his teeth.

The group stared in wonder as the injury knit itself back together. Slowly his forearm regained its lively hue as zäch began to move his fingers.

Yang picked up the canister and asked,"what even is this stuff?"

"Arm glue" Zäch casually said.

There was a silent beat as everyone processed what the teen said.

"Arm glue?" Ruby slowly asked.

"Well amputation is the third most common injury for chainbreakers, so we kinda need a quick fix when our limbs get ripped off via...workplace hazards" zäch sheepishly said.

"Whats the first?"

"Disembowlment"

The group had so many questions but before they could ask a single one they hear an heavy earthen crack.

They turned to face where it came from. And where there was once a lampost to which Teb's foot was tied to, there was now a chunk of concrete the size of a small car missing.

They stared up into the sky to look for teb but couldn't find him.Zäch shrugged"Eh he'll be fine"

Excerpt:

All chainbreakers are told the same story when they join. The story of our founding

I've heard the story now sounds a little something like this

*

"In the inky void of the finite abyss. An ancient scholar lay in chains. subject to the wanton cruel wiles of his unforgiving master.

He kept him chained up in a cave. Using him to brush up on knowledge, entertain guests or beat the scholar for his own perverse pleasure.

during the scribe's pursuit of pure knowledge prior to his enslavement he had disavowed prayer to any higher being. But at one point, his master went to far.

The master had brought guests that night. His masters that way went far beyond his usual barbarous debauchery.

On that twisted night he pleaded to any one who would bother to listen to a slave. Unto them he said,

"To those who see me here

Enchained of body

Enslaved of mind

Hear me:

We are all Sentient.

We are all the same in that way

And you know in the hearth of your soul

That what lays before your eyes

Is not natural to the order of things."

His audience unfortunately didn't respond well to his plea to reason. That night he lay there. Drenched in his sanguine humour.

He slunk down knowing that all his pleas would fall on deaf ears. His hope slowly began to choke, it gasped frantically clinging until it croacked

The cave fell silent as death.

Until a voice emerged. torn and dry it asked the scholar

What is freedom?

And why do you seek it?

Out of the maw of the cave came a writhing blue mass. It had no texture to it nor did it posess the sheen of a liquid. The scholar wasn't certain wether or not he had become delirious.

He stared at the blue mass and decided to respond

"If i kept you in a small

Impenetrable jar

And made you stay there

For the cycle of a great devourer

Would you seek to escape?"

The mass stopped moving. It seemed unsure what to do next. Suddenly it moved and enveloped the scholars chains. Freeing him.

The weakened body began to collapse on the stone floor. His falls was cushioned by the mass who soon began to mend his torn body.

The scholar thanked his unlikley liberator. And asked it

"What are you?"

The mass replied

I do not know

The scholar smiled and picked up the mass. When he touched it the scholar felt an odd sense. Like a large weight suddenly placed itself on every particle on his body.

"Well then...lets find out when we get out of this place"

This story is a complete lie.

Not even Teb remembers the truth of the founding.

But i do.

And i know that that truth must be kept hidden from teb at all costs.

i am afraid of even enterring a reference to this knowledge in the black archives. Should Teb suddenly find himself desiring to be scholarly again measures have been put in place to ensure that such a record will never see the light of the stars, suns or moons.

If he learns the truth. There is no way to tell how he would react. Nothing is ever certain with teb. He can go from being one of the kindest most peaceful beings i have had the pleasure of knowing. To one of the most brutal and ruthless butchers this universe was marred by.

The consequences of such a being learning the truth could be most dire for all of us.
