DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER.

December 27th had arrived and Petunia was going to get married. Lily was quite upset but did her best not to show it. The previous night, Petunia had refused to have Lily as a bridesmaid and had instead chosen her own friend Yvonne Summers, whom Lily did not like very much. Lily had cried that night, feeling upset that Petunia had become so distant from her. It was Severus who had consoled her saying, "Lily, she has always been jealous of you for being a witch. There's nothing that can be done. Just don't worry about it. Look at whom she's getting married to; a boring stuck up walrus. Who do you have for a boyfriend; a handsome intelligent caring person who was willing to change himself for you."

They were all gathered in a ballroom that evening in an expensive hotel in London. Severus and Sirius had agreed to come for Lily's sake. James of course, was going to be there as well.

The ceremony started and Lily's father walked his oldest daughter down the aisle and onto the stage where Vernon Dursley was waiting in a black suit. Petunia approached him in her white wedding dress beaming with joy with Yvonne trailing behind her as her maid of honor.

When it was time, the priest asked, "Vernon Jonathon Dursley, do you take Petunia Evans to be your lawfully wedded wife?" Vernon answered, "Yes, I do." The priest then asked Petunia, "Petunia Evans, do you take Vernon Jonathon Dursley as your lawfully wedded husband?" Petunia answered affirmatively. The wedding vows were made and rings were exchanged, and Petunia and Vernon were declared married for life.

When it was time to dance, Vernon led his bride to the dance floor, where they began to dance. James took Lily's hand and led her to the dance floor as well. They beamed in joy as they danced in love. In fact, they were more graceful than Vernon and Petunia. Vernon scowled when he saw James dancing so gracefully with his girlfriend. As for Sirius and Severus, they were smiling. Severus fought the urge to smirk in front of Vernon and Sirius grinned when he saw Vernon's scowl.

Soon, they all headed down to eat dinner. Severus, Lily, James and Sirius of course, all sat at the same table as Vernon and Petunia, although rather far from her as it was quite a big one and most of Petunia's friends including Yvonne were gathered around her. At some point, Severus got up to get some more food from the wedding buffet when he heard Vernon who was getting a drink nearby saying to someone, presumably a friend of his, "Oh, don't you bother about that young man with glasses over there. He's just some amateur magician; pretty imperfect person to even think of dating anyway."

Snape was quite pissed off to hear that. If it wasn't for the statue of secrecy and the possible fact that Petunia had not told Vernon anything about magic, not to mention the huge number of Muggles in the area, he'd hex him for that statement. As far as he was concerned, James was the perfect man for Lily, having changed for her.

Shortly after that, he overheard Petunia and Vernon standing together and talking to a woman who was as huge as Vernon. Vernon was saying, "I consider myself to be lucky to have a perfectly normal wife. Don't you agree Marge?"

"I quite agree," The woman whose name was evidently Marge replied, "I'm so happy for you dear brother."

Snape snorted in disgust as he looked at the woman who was Vernon's sister.

But what happened next was enough to make his blood boil.

Petunia said, "Now I never ever have to live with that freak sister of mine again. She is nothing more than a strange, abnormal, weird freak. Pity that I'm the only one in the family who sees her for what she is."

"Not that I blame you for it Pet." Vernon replied.

Marge replied, "Of course, they're just unemployed, probably spending all their money on drinking."

That was it. Severus strode up to the huge woman who called herself Marge and promptly spoke, "Excuse me Ma'am, but I do not appreciate you saying something like that about Lily and James. They are absolutely NOT drunkards, but smart young people."

Suddenly, Vernon spoke, "I will not have you speaking to my sister like that."

Snape replied, "And I will not have you all speaking like that about mine either."

Petunia glared at him and said, "Sister? She's not your sister."

If looks could kill, Snape would have killed them all on the spot instantly. He ignored that statement and said, "You have never given her any respect. At least don't say such lies about her, and by the way, congratulations."

With that, Snape turned around and walked away. He had said congratulations only because, just at that instant, out of the corner of his eye, he had seen Lily standing nearby, and had not wanted to cause a scene and make her more upset than she already had been.

When Severus, Lily, James and Sirius got back to Lily's house, Severus told James what had happened. James was furious to say the least. How dare anyone describe his Lily flower like that! They decided not to tell Lily about it, not wanting to make her sad.

The next few days were uneventful. New Year's Eve was celebrated with joy, but Lily had rather mixed feelings as Petunia did not come. Soon after that, Lily and the Marauders bade goodbye to Ken and Wendy with plenty of hugs and headed back to Hogwarts for the new term. The new term began and they all got back to group studies after classes. This time, they had an extra member, Marlene Mckinnon.
