That evening, Severus and Marlene were sitting in the Three Broomsticks with James and Lily. As they had finished their seventh year, they did not have to worry about returning to the castle before 9:30 pm. It was currently 7:30 pm.

Just then, they saw Sirius, Remus and Peter entering and waved to them. The trio joined the two dating couples at the table that they were all sharing and James ordered drinks for all of them.

As the boys got their drinks, they cried out, "No more Hogwarts! We're free!"

Sirius spoke up, "Hey Sev, I heard you've decided to become an auror. I think you'll make a really good one." Severus replied, "Thanks Sirius. But just because we're going to be aurors doesn't mean the situation will change all of a sudden. If we're all going to fight, we'll need to be serious about it. For all we know, we might end up fighting against our own classmates, probably our own housemates." Remus said, "You're right about that. No offense, but it's likely that a lot of Slytherins will be keen to join Voldemort; not that non-Slytherins won't."

Severus calmly said, "None taken. With people like Avery, Mulciber and Lucius, it's very likely that a lot of Slytherins will join him. I'm really glad I chose not to be one of them."

Just then, the door opened and in walked two infamous figures that Severus had just identified as soon-to-be Death Eaters. Peter said, "Uh oh, it looks like they're here for trouble." Sirius muttered, "Think of the devils and they are here!"

Sure enough, Avery and Mulciber strode arrogantly up to their table. Avery smiled wickedly and said, "Well, well, well. Look who we have here. Those blood traitors that Snape hangs out with have really deluded him."

Mulciber commented, "Oh, and there's that McKinnon girl here. That blood traitor must be our traitor's girlfriend. Corrupting our Snape here you dirty blood traitor girl, are you?!"

Snape angrily stood up and growled, "Stay away from us you two. Don't you dare insult Marlene like that!"

Avery smirked and pointing his wand at them, said, "We're going to do whatever we like. No professors to stop us here. It's been too long."

Severus held his wand in his right hand and readied himself saying, "Let's settle this outside." Mulciber replied, "Of course, although you don't stand a chance against us purebloods!"

James got up and gripped Severus' shoulder saying, "I've got your back Sev. Let's take care of these two outside."

Before the others at the table could say anything, James and Severus went outside, followed by Avery and Mulciber.

They went up to the spot where Severus and Marlene had had their first kiss, where the Marauders and Lily had hung out several times. James looked at Avery and Mulciber and spoke, "This is the spot where we hung out together several times; where we hung out freely. What about you?! You're just losers for being pureblood fanatics. Look at what 'Your Snape' has gotten for himself; friends, a sister in all but blood, and even a lovely girlfriend. And what have you got; a stinky Dark Boss from whom you'll have to take orders from all the time if you join him."

Severus couldn't help grinning for that.

Meanwhile, Remus, Sirius, Peter, Lily and Marlene exited the Three Broomsticks and found James and Sirius facing Avery and Mulciber. They stood a little distance away, but readied their wands in case there was trouble.

Avery snarled and said, "You're going to go down one day. The common people are too scared to stand up to him and the ministry won't be enough to stop him."

Mulciber smirked at James and Severus before crying out, "Furnunculus."

Severus responded, "Tarantallegra." Both spells missed each other. Avery had also aimed a pimple jinx at James who had defended himself with a shield charm.

Spells flew back and forth as James and Severus dueled with Avery and Mulciber. Avery cried out, "Serpensortia," causing a snake to erupt from the tip of his wand, which went to attack James. Snape pointed his wand at the snake crying out, "Vipera Evanesca", causing the snake to vanish. Mulciber took the opportunity and pointing his wand at Severus, cried out "Incarcerous", but James cried out, "Protego," and his shield charm protected Severus and Mulciber's spell rebounded on him and he lost his balance and fell to the ground, tied up.

Avery cried out, "Furnunculus," and Severus cried out, "Densaugeo". Avery's spell missed. Snape's however, did not, and Avery found himself with elongated teeth. Snape then cried out, "Expelliarmus," causing Avery's wand to fly out of his hand before crying out, "Incarcerous", tying him up instantly. James and Severus left their opponents wands near their respective owners before freeing them of their bonds and walking away from the spot. Mulciber got up and dragged Avery away from there as fast as he could.

As the two made their way to where Sirius, Remus, Marlene and Lily were standing, Sirius cried out, "That was amazing!" while Lily gave them both exasperated looks and said, "Did you really have to handle it this way? We haven't even left Hogwarts yet! What if a teacher had seen you fighting?"

James simply smiled at Lily, and Peter grinned in response. Marlene gave Severus a look of relief seeing that nothing had gone wrong. Remus however, maintained a serious expression on his face.

Remus said, "You know, there's something that they're actually right about. Many people are too scared to see what's going on outside. People need to fight against Voldemort, but if they're just going to stay neutral and look away, even with Dumbledore, how will we be able to win?"

Severus responded, "You're absolutely right about that. Something needs to be done. We all have to play our part." James said, "I wish we could somehow convince more and more people, at least some of the students of Hogwarts to stand up and fight."

Sirius smiled and said, "You know, maybe you guys can give a speech about how we used to 'not be on good terms with a Cobra' and how we're friends now."

Suddenly, James' and Snape's eyes lit up and Severus said, "James, I think we should do that. Not to brag, but to tell others that it is possible to unite and settle differences. We all need to put aside certain grudges if we are to win."

James declared, "Yes, I'm all with you Sev!"

Suddenly Sirius looked at them funnily and said, "Hey, I was joking!"

Severus smiled and declared, "Well, joke or no joke, you gave us an idea, and we're using it!"
