DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER.
It was now the 31st of August and there were still a few last minute arrangements to be made for the wedding. It was definitely going to take place in Potter Manor. As their wedding day was on a weekend, they did not have to worry about a teacher being absent. James and Lily had invited most of the professors from Hogwarts to attend their wedding, and Dumbledore himself was going to perform the ceremony. James had already decided to have Sirius as his best man, and Severus had decided that he would walk Lily down the aisle.
However, that night, when some of their friends came to visit, Amelia and Alice, who had been looking forward to seeing Lily, noticed that she was not to be seen with James. Upon asking him, James replied that Lily would come in a few minutes. After waiting for a little while, they still did not see Lily anywhere in the lounge where they were gathered. Wondering what the matter was, Amelia decided to find Lily and find out what was happening.
After a little while of searching, Amelia finally found Lily in one of the bedrooms, sitting in an armchair, looking rather upset. Amelia went over to Lily, and placing her hands on Lily's shoulders, she asked, "Lily, you look upset. Is something the matter?"
"Tuney," Lily simply said. "Who's Tuney?" Amelia asked, "Do you mean your sister?" Amelia did not know much about Petunia, except for the fact that she was Lily's sister. Lily had never told Amelia about how incredibly cruel Petunia had been towards her, simply because she was jealous of Lily for being a witch.
Lily said, "I just wish she would at least come! I just can't believe it. We used to be so close. We played with each other all the time when we were small. And now I seem to be a stranger in her eyes!" She ended her statements, sobbing profusely.
Amelia hugged Lily as she continued to sob and said, "Lily, I'm so sorry. I just can't bear to see you upset like this. I want to help you. Tell me what the matter is."
A minute later, Lily calmed down. She looked up towards Amelia and said, "You see, my sister and I used to be happy all the time. But when I started showing signs of magic, she just changed. She always used to say that I was a freak for doing such things. Then Severus came along. He was the one who always comforted me saying she was simply jealous of me, which is quite true. Then when I got my Hogwarts letter, Petunia wrote a letter to Dumbledore, begging him to accept her as a witch. Dumbledore kindly explained in his reply letter that it was not possible to do that because magic can't just be given like that. Since then, Petunia started being meaner towards me. We grew further and further apart as the years went by. Now she's married this person called Vernon Dursley who's absolutely selfish and arrogant and hates magic, and she doesn't want me in her life anymore. I sent a letter just a few days ago inviting her to my wedding. I wanted her to be my bridesmaid, my matron of honor because she's still my sister, but she has declared in her reply letter that she won't even come to the wedding! I can't believe she won't even be coming!"
Amelia hugged Lily and said, "Lily, what she has done towards you is not at all right. But there are those who love you. You have your brother in all but blood, Severus with you. Then there's James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Alice and so many others who love you. Family isn't defined only through blood, but also through love."
Amelia paused for a moment and then continued, "Lily, you and I were quite close to each other in Hogwarts, and I was so happy when we met after at least three years. Ever since you came back into my life, you've been like a little sister to me. I'll be your maid of honor, that is, if you want me to." Lily beamed at Amelia and hugged her tightly saying, "Thank you Amy, of course I'm happy to have you as my maid of honor!"
"I'm more than happy to help you, my friend." Amelia replied.
"And I'll be there to walk you down the aisle, as your father would have been there to, had he been here with us." Another voice spoke. Lily turned around to see that it was Severus, entering the room. Lily beamed in joy and hugged both her brother and Amelia, her sibling bonds with Severus and Amelia stronger than ever.
Finally, the great day arrived and everyone gathered in one of the magnificent halls of Potter Manor for the wedding of James Potter and Lily Evans. Several witches and wizards with whom Lily had become quite thick friends with in the last few months including Molly Weasley and Arthur Weasley as well as Andromeda Tonks and Edward (Ted) Tonks were sitting in the front row (of course, with their children), closest to the stage.
Finally, the moment came and Severus walked his sister in all but blood down the aisle. James Potter waited on the stage with his groomsmen, Sirius and Remus behind him, with Sirius acting as best man. Lily herself was being followed by her bridesmaids, Alice and Amelia, with Amelia being her maid of honor. Dumbledore himself stood on the stage, ready to get his two students married.
As Lily stepped on the stage and she and James stood facing each other, Dumbledore stepped forward towards them. He spoke to James, "James Fleamont Potter, do you take Lily Jasmine Evans to be your lawfully wedded wife?" James said with a huge smile, "Yes, I do." Dumbledore then turned to Lily and said, "Lily Jasmine Evans, do you take James to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Lily beamed in joy and answered, "Yes, I do."
Wedding vows were made, rings were exchanged and James and Lily were declared married for life.
The time soon came to dance and James led Lily to the dance floor. He and Lily waltzed in joy as the orchestra was being played by the weird sisters, who had been hired for the wedding. Soon, the weird sisters changed to pop and rock and everyone started dancing enthusiastically.
Dumbledore was dancing with McGonagall, Severus was dancing with Marlene, Alice with Frank, and Sirius with Amelia as the band had started to play something that he liked very much. Sirius beamed in joy as he spun Amelia round in a circle, and Amelia just laughed and smiled, sending Sirius a wink and even kissing him on his cheek, causing his smile to widen more than before.
As Severus danced with Marlene, he felt so happy that Lily had finally married the man she deserved. Severus had his sister, a brother in law, good friends of the right sort, and even a lovely girlfriend. "What could ever go wrong now?!" he thought as he danced on and on, smiling wildly when Marlene kissed his cheek in the middle of the dance.
