Nikita and Willow headed outside with their classmates walking besides them. As the two girls walked, they searched for their friends. Yuki and Clover flew right next to them so as to not get separated. Nikita looked around for Luz and Gus, but couldn't see them among the other students. Willow was also searching for any sign of them too, but with no luck. Every student from the other classes was heading in the same direction as them. Soon, there were students everywhere, making it even harder to find their two friends.
"Willow? Do you see any sign of Luz or Gus?" Nikita asked. "Nope, no sign of them anywhere. How about you?" Willow asked. "Negative. Haven't spotted them yet." Nikita said.
The girls continued walking among the crowd towards the outside grudgby field. They hoped to see their friends somewhere in the crowd. They continued walking until they reached the field. Principal Bump was telling the incoming students to take their seats on the bleachers. Nikita looked up and saw Luz and Gus sitting together in the third middle row of the bleachers.
"Nikki! Willow! Over here!" Luz called out.
Nikita and Willow went up the stairs and squeezed through to sit next to their friends. To their surprise, Amity was also there. She was sitting close by as she was too nervous to sit near Luz. It was understandable considering her conflicting feelings for the human.
"Hey, guys! How were your classes?" Willow asked. "Our classes were great. We were learning how to make new potions." Luz said. "And we were learning some new illusion tricks." Gus said. "Willow and I were just about to learn some new plant magic, right Willow?" Nikita asked. "That's correct. I had been practicing some new spells last night." Willow said.
As soon as everyone was settled in their seats, Principal Bump got on stage and motioned for all the students to quiet down so that he could begin his announcement. All the students sat silently in their seats so that they could hear what Principal Bump had to say. Nikita and her friends listened closely so that they could know what the big news was. Principal Bump got out his microphone so that his students could hear him as he spoke.
"Attention, Hexside. This is an important announcement. I am your principal, Principal Bump." He said.
Everyone sat still and listened closely to him as he spoke.
"Today, we have a very special announcement. Today I've just received word from the Emperor's Coven that all the schools will be participating in the first annual Field Day!" Bump said.
Everyone cheered upon hearing of the great news. Nikita and Luz were especially excited because they had participated in many field day events before back in their home worlds. They had lots of knowledge about how field days work so they're sure to beat the other schools in the events.
"I know all of you are excited to participate in the events that'll take place on Field Day. I must advise you that Glandus High and St. Epiderm will also be participating in the games as well." Bump said.
Glandus High and St. Epiderm were rivals of Hexside. The students of those schools were always in competition with the students of Hexside. This Field Day was going to be one of those competing events between the 3 schools. Luz had participated in lots of Field Days back in the Human Realm. Nikita had also participated in lots of Field Days as well back in the Archipelago of Past Decades.
"Yes! I'm so excited! I love Field Days!" Nikita said. "Yeah! Me too! I've been looking forward to attending Field Day for a long time." Luz said.
As the friends continued talking to each other, Principal Bump started speaking again and motioned for everyone to become silent. Willow motioned for her friends to be quiet so that they could hear the rest of the announcement.
"This weekend, I want you all to practice your athletic and magic skills so that you can be fully prepared to compete against the other schools for Field Day." Bump said. "Now enjoy the rest of your day and remember to practice for the games."
As soon as the announcements were over, the students got up and started heading back to class. Nikita and the others got up and walked back to class together while talking about the big news. They were really excited to participate in Field Day and compete against the other schools. Their palismans walked right next to them.
"Wow! I'm so excited for Field Day!" Gus shouted. "Me too! I'm totally looking forward to practicing my magic for the events." Willow said. "Yeah! I'm so ready to compete in the first Field Day in the Demon Realm." Luz said. "So am I. Those other schools won't know what hit them." Nikita said.
As they were walking back to class, they accidentally ran into Amity.
"Oh! Sorry, Amity. Didn't see you there." Luz said. "That's alright. I wasn't paying any attention at all." Amity said.
She gathered her books and so came face-to-face with Luz. Amity blushed a little before regaining her composure. Her cat palisman nuzzled right next to her.
"Is that your new palisman?" Gus asked. "Yes. Her name is Ghost." Amity said as she petted her palisman's head. "She's really awesome." Luz said. "Thanks. Well… I have to go now, see ya." Amity said as she left for class.
The group waved goodbye and continued toward class. They walked down the hall and headed forward towards the classrooms where the other students were already heading. They were all talking about Field Day and how they were going to train really hard for the events that'll take place. But then suddenly, they ended up running into Boscha and her friends.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the human and her misfit friends?" Boscha said snarkingly. "Hello, Boscha." Luz said bitterly.
The two groups face each other with hostility. They weren't on good terms with each other due to Boscha's bullying nature.
"So what makes you think you're going to be competing in Field Day, human?" Boscha asked. "Well, it just so happens that I'm an expert on Field Days, having attended a bunch back home." Luz said. "So am I. I've competed in dozens of events back home as well." Nikita said.
She and Luz were very confident about their skills and endurance, but Boscha didn't seem very impressed.
"Typical behavior for a human and sea monster." She said, smugly. "Now if you'll excuse us, we've got a class to attend."
As Boscha and her gang left, Nikita and Luz stared bitterly at her. They were determined to prove her wrong by training as hard as they could for Field Day.
"Well, I've got to get back to class now. See ya." Gus said. "Yeah, See ya guys." Luz said. "I know we can be as strong as all the other students." Nikita said. "I know. If we practice really hard, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way." Willow said.
Nikita and Willow reflect on what they'll be doing for training as they return to class to finish the rest of their assignments for the day. Nikita also has to attend her Beast-Keeping classes as well as Plant classes. She was going to need all the knowledge she could get for her Field Day training.
