"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH," Lily screamed as she was in the process of labor on 31 July 1980.
"Push Lily, push, you can do it. Don't worry Lily love, I'm here." James said, trying to help Lily as she squeezed his hand. A healer whom James had summoned from St. Mungo's was trying to help Lily. Outside, Severus was pacing back and forth anxiously, hoping that the process would go well for both Lily and the baby.
Finally, at 5 pm, a beautiful baby boy was born. Both Lily and the baby were fine.
Around 40 minutes later, Severus rushed into the bedroom where he saw a baby in Lily's arms. He hurriedly asked her, "Lily, are you alright? Please tell me everything went well." Lily smiled and responded, "Severus, I'm ok, you don't have to be so worried." Severus smiled in relief and looked at the baby just as Sirius, Marlene, Amelia, Remus and Peter entered.
The baby had quite a lot of hair for a newly born baby. Sirius exclaimed, "He's so hairy, and he's so cute! Congratulations James!"
James replied, "I wonder what we'll name him; James Hairy Potter?"
Lily frowned and said, "Oh come on, James, don't be silly!"
She then looked at Harry and said, "He is quite Hairy. Hairy, hairy, harry hairy harry; Harry?! Oh yes! This is perfect! Harry will be his name! James, it's perfect!"
James smiled and responded, "Perfect Lily! Harry James Potter will be his name!"
Lily smiled and exclaimed, "Harry James Potter! Perfect!"
She then held her baby boy to her bosom and said, "Harry James Potter, your Mama and Dada will love you forever! Welcome to the world!"
Severus smiled and said, "Like father, like son. Except for those eyes…"
He trailed off as he noticed that the baby's eyes were emerald green, just like Lily's. "Those eyes, they saved me," he thought as he looked upon the baby with admiration.
Lily then gave Severus Harry to hold. Severus beamed with joy as he held his nephew for the first time. From James' bitter rival to his brother in law and his son's uncle! Life had certainly taken a turn for the better, all thanks to his decision to renounce bad company.
Sirius was the next to hold Harry, and soon after, Amelia and Marlene held Harry, fussing all over him as they did so. "He's so cute," Amelia whispered, "One day, I am just going to chase him, catch him and gobble him up!"
Remus and Peter held Harry as well, Peter commenting on how much Harry looked like James and finally, James and Lily took Harry from them to hold him and coo all over him.
After a while, Lily turned to Severus and Sirius and said, "Severus, Sirius, will you be Harry's Godfathers?"
Severus and Sirius looked stunned when they heard that. Severus spoke after a few moments, "Godfather?! From your friend, to your brother, and now your son's godfather?! I'm more than honored Lily!" He then silently said to Harry, "I will protect you with my life, if need be."
Sirius said, "I'm more than happy to be his godfather! Oh, I swear, I'm going to spoil him rotten! This is so amazing! Of course I'll be his godfather as well, alongside Sev! He's going to be a great prankster! Isn't he?"
Remus remarked, "You'd better not start influencing him with all sorts of ideas for pranks Sirius!"
Severus simply shook his head and said, "Seriously Sirius?! You'd better not make Lily regret making both of us his godfathers!"
Marlene simply laughed and said, "Oh come on Sev, don't worry. I'm sure both you and Sirius will be superb godfathers, no matter what."
Some days ago, Lily and James had been discussing whom they should appoint as godparents. James wanted the baby's godfather to be Sirius, whereas Lily felt that Severus was more responsible, and therefore, a better choice. Finally, not willing to choose one and disregard the other, they had decided on both.
Lily now turned to Amelia and said, "Amy, will you be Harry's Godmother?"
Amelia beamed and declared, "Of course I will! My baby Godson is Harry James Potter!" She then turned to Harry and said, "Every time I come over, you and I will play all day!"
Sometime later, Dumbledore and McGonagall arrived. McGonagall held Harry and exclaimed, "Oh my! He's just so adorable!" Dumbledore also held Harry and cooed all over him. However, as he did so, he thought sadly, "How can Voldemort want to kill such an innocent child? Why is this prophecy even there?! But alas, Voldemort will not know love. Poor Harry, why, why, why are you in danger of being targeted because of some prophecy?! I will do everything I can to keep you safe, even if it costs me my life!"
He then turned to Lily and James and said, "I wonder what I am going to do when he develops his teeth! Perhaps he will…" But McGonagall cut him off saying, "Absolutely not Albus, he is not going to become a sweet addict like you are, snacking on lemon drops all day long!" which caused everyone present in the room to start laughing. Lily simply said, "Harry is going to eat healthy, right my love?" As if responding to that, Harry simply shifted in her arms.
