Some days later…

Lily was sitting in the living room one evening with baby Harry in her arms. James was sitting right next to her, stroking his son's cheek affectionately. Sitting in the living room on the couch opposite to the one on which the Potters were sitting, were Severus and another person with yellowish brown hair named Lewis Bones, one of Amelia's brothers.

Among all of Amelia's brothers, Lewis was the closest to Amelia, the second closest brother being Edgar. He had become quite close to Sirius when the latter had started dating Amelia. Through Sirius, Lewis had eventually become quite a close friend of the Potters.

On 5 October 1979, his wife Alexandria had given birth to a baby girl, and she had been named Susan Bones. Lewis had named Amelia godmother and Edgar godfather. He had been quite happy to know that Amelia had been made Harry's godmother, and was quite exited to introduce Susan to Harry after a few months.

"He's just so cute Lily," Lewis was saying, "I'm so happy for you."

Lily responded, "I'm so happy for you too. Maybe when Harry is a little older, we should consider getting Susan and him to meet each other. A play date or something like that would be really nice."

Lewis said, "You know, a lot of us Order members have become parents now. There's Molly's son, Ronald. He was born this March. Then of course, there's Neville Longbottom, born hours before Harry. And, we also have Andrew's daughter, Daphne. And, there's Susan too."

Severus spoke, "While it's all heartening to hear, let's just hope that..."

But before he could say another word, a patronus in the form of a wolf suddenly flew into the living room and spoke in the voice of Remus, "Severus, we need help! Edinburgh is under attack! We need help! Come quickly!"

Severus immediately stood to his feet and dashed out of the house, followed by Lewis. Once they were a good distance away from the house, they apparated to Edinburgh.

Sure enough, there were Death Eaters swarming all over the place. As Severus was about to assess the situation, an auror trainee rushed over to him and cried out, "Auror Snape, thank Merlin you're here! We're in big trouble! There's Death Eaters everywhere and the Lestranges are here too!"

Severus said to him, "All of you fight in teams of two to four. Try and save as many people as possible! Avoid confronting the Lestranges alone if you can. If you see them just alert…"

"Ah Severus, such a pleasure to see you once again my old friend. It's a pity that our circumstances find us on opposite sides." A familiar voice suddenly drawled from behind.

Severus turned around to see an all too familiar figure, Lucius Malfoy.

He turned to Lewis and said, "Go Lewis, I'll handle him. Go, go, go."

Severus now turned to Lucius and snarled, "Lucius Malfoy, I should have known you'd be here."

Lucius replied, "I'm afraid you have made the wrong choice by renouncing the Dark Lord, who could have given you so much."

Severus responded, "The wrong choice for me was to associate with pureblood fanatics like you! Stupefy!"

And so, Severus and Lucius began to duel each other. Lucius himself did not use any killing curses, and Severus managed to dodge all his other spells. However, Lucius himself managed to dodge all of Severus' spells. It seemed like both were evenly matched.

And then, Lucius said, "All that the Dark Lord wants is the Potters' child. If you hand him over, we can perhaps convince him to let all the others live. Lily will truly be yours. All you have to do is to hand the Potters' child over to the Dark Lord."

That made Severus' blood boil and he shouted, all the while casting spells, "TAKE MY OWN SISTER?! SACRIFICE MY GODSON LIKE AN ANIMAL?! HOW DARE YOU! I WOULD RATHER DIE FOR THEM RATHER THAN DO SOMETHING SO DESPICABLE!"

Lucius exclaimed, all the while defending himself, "Godson?! How touching, or should I say, how foolish! I'm afraid you're the one with a deluded mind!"

And then, Severus declared, "Tell me Lucius, what if it was your own child being targeted by the Dark Lord?! Would you sacrifice him like an animal for the sake of loyalty, or would you rather die for him?! ANSWER ME, LUCIUS MALFOY!"

But the answer never came. Instead, Lucius looked around him and suddenly disapparated from the spot after sending a shower of red sparks in the air.

Severus looked around to see what had happened only to find a large group of aurors and order members being led by Dumbledore and Amelia.

Marlene, who was amongst them, rushed over to Severus and hugged him saying, "Sev! Are you alright?" Severus darkly responded, "That bastard Lucius Malfoy got away! You know what he did? He was trying to convince me to sacrifice Harry to Voldemort like an animal! I swear if I see him again, I will rip him to shreds!"

Marlene gasped upon hearing that and replied, "How could he?! I won't blame you if you literally tear him apart for what he said! After hearing this, I feel like doing the same thing!" As for Amelia, she balled her fists upon hearing that and yelled, "I swear, I will do the same thing if that monster comes anywhere near my godson!"

Dumbledore approached them and said, "For now, let us not worry. Harry is safe. That is what is important. Neither Voldemort nor Lucius can come anywhere near the Potters, thanks to the Fidelius charm."

Meanwhile, Lucius had reached Malfoy Manor along with the Lestranges and had given a report of the raid to Voldemort. He was now standing in one of the hallways under a large chandelier, speaking to his wife, Narcissa Malfoy. Their son, Draco Malfoy who had been born on the 5th of June that year, was asleep in his crib, in their master bedroom.

Lucius asked, "Dear Narcissa, how is our Draco doing?"

Narcissa replied, "He's asleep right now in his crib. How did the raid go?"

"You know, something very interesting happened today. I ran into our old friend Severus Snape. He has fallen so low. Quite foolish he has become." Lucius replied.

He continued, "How low he has fallen. He actually thinks that the Dark Lord will target our child, just like the Potters' child! He asked whether I would sacrifice him like an animal or not! As if…"

Narcissa suddenly put her right hand over Lucius' mouth and whispered in a terrified voice, "Don't say that Lucius! Draco's our baby! I can't even bear to think of something like that happening to him!"

Lucius slowly removed his wife's hand from his mouth and held it affectionately before kissing it. He hugged her and said, "Darling, the Dark Lord would never do that to us! We are his loyal followers. We have always been his loyal followers. You are from the most Ancient and Noble House of Black, and I am from the Noble House of Malfoy. Why would such a thing ever happen? Don't worry about it my dear, the Dark Lord will never target us like those blood traitors and Mudbloods. Don't worry my Dear." With that, he leaned forward and they shared a kiss.

Little did Lucius know just how much impact his words would have on Narcissa's life.

The next night, Narcissa was sleeping in the master bedroom. Lucius was busy with something and so had not joined her in the bed yet. Bellatrix however was there in one of the adjoining rooms, having come to stay with the Malfoys for the night.

Narcissa was having a horrible dream.

Narcissa was standing in front of Lord Voldemort. He seemed to be furious and was glaring at her with his red eyes.

"Give me your child Narcissa Malfoy!" Voldemort demanded.

Narcissa pleaded, "Please, he's only a baby! Please, spare him! What wrong have I done?!"

Voldemort replied, "He is not a threat, and I shall not allow him to become a threat! Now hand over the child that is in your arms or I shall take him myself!"

"No, I will not give him up!" Narcissa screamed.

Voldemort smiled evilly at her before pointing his wand at her son Draco in her arms. Narcissa screamed as she felt Draco being ripped out of her arms and straight into Voldemort's. The Dark Lord set him on the floor, and as he cried looking at his mother, tears streaming from his eyes, Voldemort cried out, "Avada Kedavra!"

And the next thing Narcissa saw was her baby boy lying on the floor, dead.

"Draco!" Narcissa screamed as she woke up from her nightmare. She sat on her bed, tears streaming from her eyes. She moved towards Draco who was lying in his crib nearby. Upon finding him to be alive and surprisingly still asleep, Narcissa breathed a sigh of relief and placed a kiss on his forehead.

She then heard the sound of the door opening and turned around to see Bellatrix entering the room. Bellatrix asked, "Cissy, Cissy, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

Narcissa moved towards the bed and sat on it, burying her face in her hands as she began to sob. Bellatrix moved towards her and hugged her, allowing Narcissa to cry into her shoulder. She asked, "Cissy, did you have a bad dream?"

After a few minutes of crying, Narcissa said, "It was terrible! The Dark Lord told me to hand over my baby to him. He wanted to kill him! I said no, and then, he ripped Draco out of my arms and murdered him!" Bellatrix continued to hug Narcissa for a few minutes before she let her go. She said, "Cissy, it was only a nightmare. The Dark Lord holds us in high regard as his loyal followers."

Narcissa suddenly darkly and firmly declared, "If the Dark Lord ever tries to kill my child, I will not let him! I will never ever give my son to the Dark Lord, even if he demands it of me! Sacrifice my son like an animal?! What kind of mother would I be if I did that?! He will not kill my son, and I will not give my son to him!"

All of a sudden, Bellatrix's expression became dark and she stood up and declared, "If I had sons, I would gladly give them to the Dark Lord! We are his to command! And I would gladly give my children in service to the Dark Lord! If I had to sacrifice them to the Dark Lord like sacrificial animals, I would gladly do so!"

She then bent down to Narcissa's level and whispered, "You Cissy must be willing to do the same, should he ever ask you. It is after all, for the greater good, for our master, for the Dark Lord. You must obey his command, no matter what. We are after all, his to command, Cissy. Good Night." With that, she blew a kiss to Draco and left.

Narcissa stared after her sister in shock as she left, too horrified to say anything. Narcissa knew very well how she high she held the Dark Lord in regard, but had never ever expected her to say something like this.

As far as she was concerned, even if the Dark Lord wanted her to sacrifice Draco, she would never ever do so. But Bellatrix had declared the exact opposite. She had always been fanatical and sadistic ever since she had joined the Dark Lord, but it was hard to believe that her fanaticism had reached such a point.

"How can this be? Why? Why? Why?" Narcissa thought.

And then, a flurry a memories rushed through her head.

Narcissa, Bellatrix and Andromeda were all standing in the courtyard in Hogwarts. Bellatrix and Andromeda were facing each other with their wands out, their spells creating some electric crackling sound as they met each other.

As some students around yelled excitedly, Bellatrix looked at her and said, "Cissy, you should put your wand in too, see what happens."

Narcissa waited for a few moments before putting her wand in. The three sisters then moved their wands up and a blast of energy was rocketed upwards and remained for some time before fading away as light.

The trio looked upwards in awe at the spectacular scene that they had just caused, and then at each other smiling in joy.

And then they heard Rudolphus Lestrange nearby shouting arrogantly, "You watching Mudbloods? This just proves that purebloods really are the most powerful!"

Andromeda shouted, "Shut it, Lestrange!"

The three sisters then moved closer to each other and Andromeda said, "I wonder what this really means. I mean, I've heard about two wand cores, but…"

Bellatrix exclaimed happily, "It means together, we can do incredible things!"

Narcissa smiled and said, "It means we have a bond like no other. We can't break it."

Narcissa, Andromeda and Bellatrix were all in Bellatrix's room excitedly looking at some photos of themselves and laughing at their own expressions. As they went on passing the photos to each other, the door suddenly opened and their parents Cygnus Black and Druella Black burst into the room.

Cygnus shouted, "Give them back now!"

Bellatrix said, "I knew studying Legilimency would be useful. I can see exactly what's going on."

Cygnus angrily spoke, "This is important. Magical purity is getting weaker! We need to ensure that the Black line remains powerful! You (Bellatrix) need to set an example!"

He continued even as Bellatrix ignored him, "You know that Muggles are causing wars and destruction in this world! Their weak-minded blood does not belong with ours!"

Bellatrix spoke, "I will marry a pureblood, but right now, especially after I got my auror apprenticeship, and what about all those NEWTs I worked so hard for? Besides, when I do marry, I want it to be my choice. I'll do it my own way. I don't appreciate being pushed around like a Witch Weekly magazine! Mother please,"

Druella cut her off saying, "Be quiet! You are no longer at Hogwarts, Bellatrix. We've left it far too long."

Andromeda started, "I guess I'd better pack in my NEWTs now…"

Druella retorted, "Don't be silly Bell, Andromeda."

Cygnus suddenly moved closer towards Bellatrix even as she tried to move away declaring, "If you do not comply, there is a very easy way to fix this!" moving his wand to her head to remove a memory. Druella stopped him saying, "Cygnus, she's forgotten enough as it is."

Cygnus then hissed cruelly, "You are a disgrace to our family! You will marry first, and then you will leave this house. Then I will no longer have to deal with you."

He then shouted at all three girls, "Our family is the Noble and most Ancient House of Black! You will all contribute to carrying on a pure magical bloodline! If you do not obey or agree to our arrangements, you will be banished from this household and stripped of your rights as a member of the Black family! Do you understand?!" With that, he turned around and left walked out of the room. Druella asked, "Are you listening, Bellatrix?" before leaving the room upon receiving no response.

Things had been so different back then. Bellatrix had been so cheerful back then.

And then, things started to change with time.

Cygnus and Druella were sitting next to each other on a couch in the living room of their house. On another couch, Narcissa was sitting next to Lucius Malfoy. Andromeda was sitting in a chair nearby, and Bellatrix was pacing back and forth, trying to convince the parents to let her join Lord Voldemort.

Narcissa said, "So many influential people are following him, including the Malfoys."

Lucius added, "It truly is a shame that too many Ministry officials come by our manor, but if you were to offer your house, it would prove your alliance to him, and to all the powerful families." Narcissa added, "It really is beneficial. He can keep us safe. He's only going to get stronger."

Druella turned to Cygnus and said, "They do have a point."

Bellatrix spoke, "We'd be silly not to. We could set out to do what Grindelwald achieved and more; and you could help."

Cygnus declared in response, "I will give permission to this, on one condition. You will marry."

Andromeda turned to Bellatrix and said, "Stop. I know exactly what you're thinking. There are other ways to gain the Dark Lord's approval. And who knows, he may lose power within a year or so." Bellatrix replied confidently, "Oh, he won't." She then turned to the parents and said, much to their delight, "Alright. How does Lestrange sound?"

Bellatrix had now joined Voldemort. An attack had been led on the ministry, but had not gone as well as expected, thanks to Andromeda and Narcissa somehow leaking information about the attack plan to Dumbledore. Dementors had been around their house for the past few days, and Andromeda and Narcissa had been desperate to make them leave. Bellatrix had suddenly showed up in their room now, just while they had been reading about the attack on the Ministry in the Daily Prophet. Bellatrix suspected them and finally, Andromeda had declared that she had been the one to sabotage the attack to get the Dementors and Death Eaters out of their house.

Bellatrix declared, "You've ruined everything! He trusted me! After all the things I've done for this family, after all the things I've done for you! Using memory charms on aurors, you know how much I hate memory…"

"It was your mess." Andromeda firmly replied, pointing her finger in Bellatrix's face, "All of this is! Dementors, murders in our house!"

"The Dark Lord," Narcissa asked, "Does he suspect any of us?"

Bellatrix answered, "He suspects an outsider."

Narcissa said, "Then can't we just move on from this?! Maybe it was a good thing this happened."

"A good thing," Bellatrix angrily replied, "They'll never visit this house again!"

"As I planned," Andromeda suddenly added, "You need your space, we all do, but this is our home. Can't you see what the Dark Lord is doing to the Wizarding world, to you, to us?!"

Bellatrix retorted, her tone becoming more vehement as she spoke, "Stop trying to cover your tracks, stop being so selfish!"

Andromeda retorted in response, "Selfish? Can it not get through, into your thick skull, that you're the one who's putting us in danger; and for what, your own gain? You're the one who's supposed to protect us!"

"This," she continued, gripping Bellatrix's left arm, referring to the dark mark she now sported on it, "is not what big sisters are supposed to do!"

"Andy," Narcissa tried to intervene but Andromeda silenced her with a wave of her hand and said in Bellatrix's face, "You disgust me!"

Bellatrix had really been sadistic that day! And Andromeda had strongly pointed out just what Bellatrix was becoming, what she had done.

Andromeda was being held against a tree by Narcissa and Bellatrix was torturing Ted Tonks with the Cruciatus curse.

"You should listen to her," Narcissa was saying to Andromeda, "Think about what you're doing. Being with him puts us all in danger!"

Andromeda responded, "I can't." As Bellatrix released Ted from the curse and stared at Andromeda, she continued, pulling a ring attached to a necklace she was wearing, "I'm engaged."

Bellatrix in anger continued to hold Ted under the Cruciatus, but Andromeda came and began to duel her in order to defend him. At one point, two spells from both of them pushed Bellatrix onto the ground. Andromeda in anger made a cut in Bellatrix' left arm, just above her mark.

Bellatrix licked the blood flowing from her wound and began to laugh sadistically like a demoness.

The duel that day was terrible.

Shortly after that, Andromeda left the Black household to be with Ted.

Narcissa realized fully what Andromeda had been trying to point out, trying to fix. And Narcissa had finally sided against her. Andromeda's words regarding Bellatrix on the day that she had tortured Ted were now ringing in her mind, "Can't you see what she's becoming?!"

And then, without even realizing it, she spoke the following words, "Andy, you were right."

NOTE: This is the longest chapter I have ever written so far!

Most importantly, credits for the memories that went through Narcissa's mind go to the fan film Sisters of House Black. Congratulations to those who made such an amazing Harry Potter fan film.

By the way, a new spell is going to come in to this fanfic. Its purpose is to put the victim in a coma for 12 hrs, but the expression will be the same as before being struck as if the killing curse hit them. This time, I'd like you all to vote for any of the two options:

1)Sleovanaska (It's not actually a word, but I thought it would sound cool.)

2)Fio Somniculosus (Actual Latin words that mean 'be done' and 'sleep')
