Severus was still holding Harry when he suddenly heard huge footfalls which meant someone or a group was coming up the stairs. Placing Harry on the floor or the nursery, he readied his wand, prepared to fight should it turn out to be one or more Death Eaters, but was quite surprised when whom did he see but Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall and Hagrid entering the nursery.

Not willing to let his guard down, he demanded, "Identify yourselves immediately!"

Dumbledore responded, "I am Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts. I allowed Remus Lupin to attend Hogwarts despite his being a werewolf. I also lead the Order of the Phoenix."

Minerva and Hagrid also answered accordingly.

Satisfied with the answers, Severus lowered his wand.

Dumbledore now continued anxiously, "Severus, please tell me that Lily and James are alive. Please tell me that they were just knocked out!"

Severus then proceeded to explain about switching secret keepers and Peter turning out to be the spy all along, and the events that had transpired up to the current moment.

Dumbledore remained silent for a few minutes, contemplating on what he had just heard before explaining, "Lily was given the option to live, but refused, willing to die for her child, and in the process, she invoked an ancient magic of love which Voldemort knows of and despises, out of love for her child that gave Harry protection. Because of that protection, Voldemort's killing curse did not kill Harry, but instead rebounded on him. Perhaps your knocking her out was enough to activate that protection without Lily actually sacrificing her life."

Severus was stunned as he absorbed this information and exclaimed, "So that's why my godson survived! But Lily and James are still unconscious!" Dumbledore asked, "How long will it be until they wake up?" Severus looked at his watch, which Sirius had bought for him on his eighteenth birthday and noting that it was currently 10, answered, "The attack was around 9:15 PM tonight so by 9:15 AM tomorrow, they should be awake. I just can't believe 45 minutes have passed."

Dumbledore listened to Severus and then spoke, "I had placed a charm on this house, but when Voldemort attacked, the only thing I sensed was the ancient magic. No deaths or anything. I'm more than happy to know that James and Lily are alive, but Minerva and I wondered what exactly had happened. We got worried and decided to find out exactly what had happened. It is a good thing that you arrived here right on time. Had you not done so, poor Harry would have become an orphan (I would have sensed that)."

Severus said sadly, "I had a nightmare recently where that happened. I was the one to tell Voldemort about the prophecy and that ultimately made me responsible for Harry becoming an orphan and being abused. I promised him that I would not let anything happen to him, but, I couldn't…"

Dumbledore looked at him compassionately and said, "Do not blame yourself Severus. You have already saved Harry from the horrible fate of losing his parents, and he is alive."

Severus shed a few tears but immediately wiped then with his sleeves.

Dumbledore then became serious and he said, "Although Voldemort may have lost his body, he is not dead. I'm sure of it. Besides, his followers may attempt to trace Harry for sake of vengeance. They will surely realize soon that their master has disappeared, 'defeated by a baby'. Harry cannot stay here. He needs to be safe until his parents wake up. I can cast a blood charm on him to add to the protection, but for that, I must take him to his aunt and uncle."

"Wait," Severus suddenly interrupted, "Which aunt and uncle? Marlene and I, Sirius and Amelia, Ted and Andromeda, Molly and Arthur, Alice and Frank, Andrew and Eliza?" hoping that Dumbledore was not actually considering sending Harry to two vile Muggle relatives of Lily. His worst fears were confirmed when Dumbledore replied, "No Severus, they are not blood related to him. He needs to stay with a blood relative. For that, you must let me take him to Lily's sister."

"ABSOLUTELY NOT," Severus roared, "YOU DON'T KNOW PETUNIA AND VERNON LIKE I DO! SHE IS VILE, NASTY AND VINDICTIVE! LILY WILL NEVER TRUST YOU AGAIN IF YOU SHE HEARS THAT YOU ACTUALLY WANTED TO SEND HIM TO THOSE VILE DURSLEYS!"

Dumbledore nearly jumped out of his skin, taken aback by Severus' tone as he continued, "WERE YOU EVEN THERE AT LILY'S PARENTS' FUNERAL? PETUNIA AND VERNON UTTERED WORDS FULL OF UTMOST CRUELTY AND MALICE TOWARDS HER! THAT WALRUS OF A HUSBAND OF PETUNIA DECLARED THAT LILY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DROWNED AT BIRTH! THINK OF WHAT HE'LL DO TO HARRY! LILY AND JAMES WOULD NEVER WANT HARRY TO GO TO THE DURSLEYS, NOT WHEN HE HAS SEVERAL OTHERS WHO LOVE HIM AND WILL TAKE CARE OF HIM, NEVER!"

While Severus was saying all this, Minerva was glaring at Dumbledore in such way that if looks could kill, Dumbledore would have been reduced to ashes.

Unfortunately, Harry woke up and began to cry, disturbed by all the shouting.

Hagrid pointed out, "Look what you've done. Yer scaring 'im."

Severus picked up Harry, patted him on his back and kissed his cheek saying, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You won't have to go stay with those horrible Muggles."

Suddenly, his eyes widened as an idea struck him. He whispered to Harry, "Listen, would you like to see Ami again?"

But before anything else could happen, a scream suddenly came from downstairs, "JAMES, LILY, HARRY; DON'T BE DEAD!" and everyone saw none other than Sirius Black charging up the stairs and into the nursery.

Severus instantly pointed his wand towards Sirius and the latter, upon noticing the former, did the same towards him.

Severus hissed, "What names does Harry call the two of us?"

Sirius spoke in response, "He calls me Pafoo and he calls you Ev. Now tell me, why did I think it was not a good idea to make you the secret keeper?"

Severus answered, "You said that I was an obvious choice, that it's no secret that I'm Lily's brother in all but blood and even Voldemort knows that, and that he would probably come after me after killing you."

Sirius and Severus lowered their wands and Sirius spoke desperately, "Severus, please tell me they're alive!" Severus replied, "They're alive but unconscious. Harry was struck by the killing curse but it seems Lily was willing to die for her child and that itself gave Harry a protective shield which deflected the killing curse towards Voldemort."

Turning to Dumbledore, Severus suggested, "The best person to send him to right now would be Amelia Bones, Harry's godmother. She is under the Fidelius charm."

Dumbledore asked, "You are her secret keeper, right?"

Severus replied, "Yes. Also, Lily and James should be brought to the hospital wing in Hogwarts."

Sirius said, "What do you want me to do?"

Severus said, "You and I will bring James and Lily to Hogwarts. Then you must call Remus and both of you must salvage whatever you can from this house. After what happened tonight, I don't think it will be best to stay in this place any longer.

Anyway, most of the house is pretty much destroyed."

Sirius asked, "But who will take Harry?"

Dumbledore spoke, "Minerva, Hagrid and I will take Harry to Amelia. I assure you, I will not send him to the Dursleys."

Severus gratefully said, "Thank you Dumbledore. I trust you to keep Harry safe. Lily and James already see you and Minerva as Harry's honorary grandparents."

Dumbledore and Minerva were moved when they heard that. A part of Dumbledore cringed, feeling inclined to just look after his honorary grandson himself. Another part of him was happy, knowing that until Lily and James woke up, Harry would be in a safe place, loved by none other than his godmother. Dumbledore knew how much Harry had cried for Amelia when she had taken Susan and gone into hiding. After Lily and James woke up, he would see about getting the Potters as well as Amelia and Susan together in hiding until all the Death Eaters had been rounded up, which no doubt, would happen now that they were temporarily leaderless.

For sure, he was no longer inclined to send Harry to the Dursleys, even if it was just for about 10-12 hours.

After sending a couple of messages through Patronuses and getting Amelia's address (Apartment no. 316, Lotus Apartments, Broadway, London) from Severus, Minerva held her honorary grandson in her arms and exited the nursery along with Hagrid and Dumbledore.

As they were walking down the stairs of the cottage, Sirius told Severus, "After getting Lily and James to Hogwarts and salvaging everything from here, I'm going to kill Peter! He betrayed us!"

Severus said a little bit louder that Sirius, "Absolutely not! He can frame you saying that you betrayed James and Lily as their one time secret keeper. If anyone's going after Peter, it's going to be me! Me alone!"

Meanwhile, Dumbledore, Minerva and Hagrid had walked two streets away from the cottage. Minerva gently rocked Harry and told him, "Now sweetie, I am going to hold you very tightly. You may want to close your eyes. We are going to apparate, and it won't feel comfortable for you right now, but it's the only way."

Saying so, she held on to Harry, who was trying to sleep, his eyes closed (much to Minerva's relief), and apparated towards Broadway with no accidents, much to the relief of the adults.

Amelia was pacing up and down the living room of her apartment. It was quite a small one, with a room that was both a living room and a bedroom with her bed right beside the window at the back of the room. A small kitchen was connected to the front room on one side and a bathroom on the other side (of course, both had doors, so don't worry).

A few minutes ago, a fawn shaped Patronus had entered her room and had spoken to her in Severus' voice, informing her about Voldemort's attack and that Harry was being sent to her. She was horrified to know that this had happened. Her only consolations were that Sirius had not been the one to betray James and Lily, Voldemort was weakened and without a body, and the Potters were alive. Yet, she could not help feeling worried.

A minute later, she heard a knock on her door upon which, she went to the peephole and asked, "Who's there?"

The answer came, "I am Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts. I allowed Remus Lupin to attend Hogwarts despite his being a werewolf. I also lead the Order of the Phoenix." (Amelia knew about Remus being a werewolf but did not mind thanks to the influence of the other Marauders, Lily, and Dumbledore.)

She opened the door to see Dumbledore, Minerva and Hagrid standing outside. Dumbledore was holding a familiar baby in his arms.

Amelia asked, "Dumbledore, what's going on? Is that, Harry?"

Harry suddenly shifted in Dumbledore's arms and opened his eyes to find someone familiar in front of him. He said, "Ami?" and was silent for a few moments. Then suddenly, he burst out crying.

"Oh my poor Baby," Amelia cried out, rushing forward to take Harry from Dumbledore, holding him to her chest and rocking him, "Ami's got you Baby, Ami's got you. Ami won't leave you like that again, Baby, Baby, Baby."

A minute later, she turned to Dumbledore and cried out, "Please tell me James and Lily are ok!" Dumbledore answered, "They are alright but unconscious. They should be up by 9:15 in the morning."

Suddenly, Hagrid angrily exclaimed, "I can't believe Peter would betray 'em like that!"

Amelia's face went dark with rage on hearing that and she darkly exclaimed, "I hope he is caught and rots in Azkaban!"

Hagrid added, "Speaking of which, when we were leaving, I heard Snape say something about going after Peter himself."

Dumbledore and Minerva looked at each other shocked and Minerva spoke anxiously, "We have to find him and stop him before he does something horrible! He will surely want revenge on Peter! Who knows what he may do!"

Meanwhile, around 30 minutes later, on a Muggle neighborhood street…

"PETER YOU TRAITOR!" Severus bellowed as he chased the traitor, Peter Pettigrew.

"Severus, please! I didn't mean to!" Peter pleaded.

Severus yelled, "YOU SWINE! I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU PAY!" and continued to pursue him.

And then, they reached a dead end.

As Severus pointed his wand at Peter, he spoke, "Don't even think of trying to frame me like I know you would have done with Sirius, Wormtail!" saying 'Wormtail' with as much venom as possible.

Peter nearly jumped out of his skin upon hearing that. Being confronted by Sirius, a Gryffindor was bad enough, but being confronted by Severus, a Slytherin, known for cunning, was even worse.

But he was not going to be taken alive or killed so easily. Taking his chances, he pointed his wand at his throat and amplifying his voice, began to yell, "HOW COULD YOU BETRAY…"

But before he could even continue, Severus, pointing his wand at Peter roared, "SECTUMSEMPRA!"

Peter was severely mutilated and fell down to the ground. Severus pointed his wand at the traitor's throat and muttered, "Quietus," bringing Peter's voice back to normal volume.

He then yelled, "NOW PETER, PREPARE TO DIE FOR BETRAYING MY FAMILY!"

He raised his wand arm and was about to bring it down, a killing curse ready for Peter, when suddenly, both of his arms were grabbed and he heard an old familiar voice yelling, "SEVERUS NO!"

Severus turned around to see what was happening and saw that it was Dumbledore and Minerva holding his arms. Dumbledore, holding his wand arm was the one who had yelled.

"Severus, what are you doing?!" Dumbledore demanded, shocked at seeing the extent of Severus' rage.

Severus yelled in response, "This man betrayed my sister, my brother in law, and my godson! I'm going to kill him for what he did!"

Dumbledore loudly asked, "Severus, would Lily want you to do this, give in to such hate in your desire for revenge?!"

Severus instantly stiffened upon hearing that. After a few moments, he softly replied, "No."

Dumbledore and Minerva released his arms, and Severus lowered them. He went up to Peter and healed him using the counter curse of Sectumsempra, "Vulnera Sanentur." Afterwards, he bound him saying, "Incarcerous."

As Hagrid and Dumbledore carried Peter away to hand him over to the Ministry, Minerva spoke, "Peter will be tried and punished."

The next morning, nothing unusual happened in a house with the address No. 4 Privet Drive. Petunia Dursley put the empty milk bottles out and took the ones that were full and kept ready inside. She and Vernon immediately went and began to fuss all over their son, Dudley, a.k.a 'Duddykins', who was quite fat for his age. He was spoilt and often behaved badly, but neither one of the parents cared.

In an apartment in Broadway, two babies, a boy and girl were being given a bath by their godmother, who took delight in splashing them every now and then and seeing them smile each time she did that.

A few minutes later, both babies were dried up and were sitting down in Amelia's lap in cute baby track pants and sweaters. Harry's were blue and Susan's were yellow.

At 8:45 AM, there was a knock on the front door, and Amelia as usual, checked to find out who it was, which turned out to be none other than Severus.
