It had been 2 days since Narcissa and Draco had moved in with the Tonks family. Nymphadora Tonks, or rather simply, Tonks as she preferred to be called, adored Draco and would spend hours playing with him. Narcissa had grown to love her niece, and she had even read to her the first night.

Today was an important day for a reason. It was the day that Peter Pettigrew would be tried and punished. Lily and Amelia were not going to be there for it. Only the boys and a few friends as well as Dumbledore would be there.

It was currently 10:30 AM and Amelia was watching Harry, Susan, Ron and Neville playing together. Frank and Alice had decided to bring Neville and see Lily and Amelia instead of attending Peter's trial which Augusta Longbottom, Frank's mother would be attending.

Just then, Lily entered the living room, raising her arms and calling out, "You are all so cute and I am so hungry that I just want to eat you all up!"

With that, she gathered Harry and Ron in her arms and pretended to eat them. Amelia laughed and pretended to eat Neville and Susan in her arms. Afterwards, Lily and Amelia kissed the children and put them down.

Harry crawled up to his godmother who was sitting down on the carpet nearby and put his head in her lap. Amelia picked up Harry and declared, "You are just too cute for me to resist and I am just going to gobble you up!"

Amelia began to 'eat' Harry, sending him into peals of laughter as she attacked his tummy, all the while saying, "I'm going to eat you, I'm going to eat you!"

Barty Crouch banged his gavel shouting, "Order, order."

He was going to oversee Peter's trial, which was about to start now.

James, Severus, Sirius and Remus were sitting together on one of the benches in courtroom 10 in the Ministry. Dumbledore was seated right next to James. Sitting behind the Marauders were Arthur, Ted, Andrew and Augusta.

James growled, "I just wonder what made Peter betray us!"

Dumbledore patted him on the back saying, "Easy James. We will soon know why he betrayed you."

Just then, Peter Pettigrew was brought into the middle of the courtroom in a cage rising up from the floor (based on the movie description of a trial in HP Goblet of Fire). As the cage rose up and stopped, Crouch thundered, "Peter Pettigrew, you are here to answer for your crimes as a Death Eater, which includes betraying the Potters to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named as their secret keeper. What do you have to say?"

Peter Pettigrew looked around in fear. He then turned to face Crouch and like a small child reciting multiplication tables, he said, "I was imperiused. I had no idea of what I was doing."

"YOU SWINE," Severus suddenly stood up and roared, causing Peter to nearly jump out of his skin, "IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT WITH THE FIDELIUS CHARM! YOU WILLINGLY SOLD MY SISTER, MY BROTHER IN LAW, AND MY GODSON TO VOLDEMORT!"

Many gathered in the courtroom shuddered upon hearing Voldemort's name being spoken. As for Peter, he turned to Severus and wailed, "I didn't mean to."

Suddenly, he pointed at Sirius and Severus saying, "The Dark Lord forced me. I had no choice. What would you have done Sirius, what would you have done Severus?"

Sirius stood up and roared, "I WOULD HAVE DIED! DIED RATHER THAN BETRAYED MY FRIENDS!"

"ORDER, ORDER!" Crouch yelled, banging his gavel. Dumbledore stood up and suggested, "It would be more beneficial if we were to administer Veritaserum. Otherwise, this will go on forever."

Crouch thought for a moment and declared in response, "You are right. Let Veritaserum be administered at once."

An auror brought a vial of Veritaserum and forced a few drops down Peter's throat. After a minute had passed, the interrogation under Veritaserum began.

"Are you Peter Pettigrew?"

"Yes."

"Were you the Potter's secret keeper?"

"Yes."

"Did you betray the Potters to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?"

"Yes."

"Were you in any way forced to reveal their location?"

"No, I revealed their location to the Dark Lord of my own free will."

"Have you been a Death Eater for a year?"

"Yes."

"What were your reasons for your actions as a Death Eater?"

"I was feeling overshadowed by James, Sirius, Severus and Remus. Also, I was sure that the Dark Lord would win and wanted to be on the winning side so that I would live, respected. The Dark Lord is power. I chose power, and so, joined the Dark Lord in October 1980."

Severus yelled, "SO YOU CHOSE POWER OVER AN INNOCENT CHILD! HOW COULD YOU?!"

As Dumbledore tried to calm him down, Severus said to him, "Hold me lest I murder him this instant!"

Crouch continued to question Peter, and it turned out that the latter had been involved in analyzing weaknesses in the defenses of Bones Manor and the McKinnon residence and relaying the information to Voldemort. Not only that. He had been involved in assassinating certain members of the Order of the Phoenix. In fact, he had once tried to assassinate Marlene but had somehow failed thanks to an accident involving Severus.

By the time the interrogation was finished and the Veritaserum had worn off, the Marauders were just so furious with Peter. James yelled, "PETER, WE TRUSTED YOU! IF YOU FELT SO OVERSHADOWED, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US?! WHY DID YOU BETRAY US?"

Peter suddenly yelled, "I WAS CONSTANTLY OVERSHADOWED! I FELT EVEN MORE SO WHEN YOUR SON CAME ALONG! THE DARK LORD IS POWERFUL AND WOULD HAVE REWARDED ME IF THAT STUPID WAIF OF A BABY HADN'T CAUSED THE DARK LORD'S DOWNFALL!"

And then he stopped and gulped, realizing what he had just said.

That was it. The entire courtroom was in an uproar. James, Severus and Sirius all stood up, wanting to just rush towards Peter and kill him on the spot for what he had said about their baby. Remus' eyes were amber with rage even as he and those around struggled to stop them.

Severus was being restrained by Dumbledore and Augusta even as he yelled, "JUST LET ME AT HIM! I'M GOING TO KILL PETER FOR WHAT HE SAID ABOUT MY GODSON!"

Sirius was being restrained by Andrew and Ted, and James was being restrained by Arthur and Remus.

James was yelling, "YOU SLIMY RAT PETER, HOW DARE YOU DESCRIBE MY BABY LIKE THAT! HOW DARE YOU HARM MY SON BY BETRAYING US! I'LL STRANGLE YOU! I DON'T CARE IF THE ENTIRE COURTROOM IS WATCHING! I'M JUST GOING TO KILL YOU!"

Sirius added, "YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH WHAT YOU DID WORMTAIL! I'LL KILL YOU FOR HARMING MY BEST FRIEND AND BROTHER, LILY AND MY PUP!"

Remus shouted even as he and Arthur struggled to hold James back, "YOU MADE ME BELIEVE SIRIUS WAS A TRAITOR AND A SPY! YOU'LL PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID TO JAMES AND LILY, FOR WHAT YOU DID TO MY CUB!"

It took 15 minutes to restore order in the courtroom. James, Severus and Sirius were still standing up, being held by Dumbledore, Augusta, and their other friends around. As they glared murderously at Peter, Crouch spoke, "All those in favor of conviction," for which more than half the courtroom raised their hands. He continued, "All those in favor of clearing the accused of all charges." No one raised their hands.

Crouch banged his gavel as he proclaimed, "Peter Pettigrew, you are found guilty of all the crimes you have committed. For your crimes, I sentence you to Azkaban for life." The entire courtroom (minus Dumbledore) roared in approval as the sentence was issued. As Peter was being dragged off by Law Enforcement wizards, he shouted, "Please don't let them take me away James! I didn't mean for all of this to happen! Please don't let them take me away!"

Only Dumbledore looked at Peter showing sorrow instead of anger while thinking, "Why did you do that Peter my boy? James and the others would have died for you if necessary." Everyone else was looking at the accused with hatred in their eyes.

As Dumbledore, the Marauders, Ted, Arthur and Andrew exited the courtroom, they were silent. After walking some distance away from the courtroom and into Arthur's office in the Department of Misuse of Muggle Artifacts, Arthur suddenly balled his fists and growled, "That monster! I wish I could strangle him with my bare hands!"

Andrew held James' shoulder and said, "As a father, I know what it feels like, knowing that someone had evil intentions towards a baby. If someone put my Daphne in danger like that, I definitely would want to kill him on the spot! Poor Harry, getting attacked by the Dark Lord himself! Peter deserved what he got!"

Ted added, "I agree with that. Peter put two children's lives in danger, Draco's life and Harry's life. Voldemort tried to have both of them killed!"

James responded, "Peter will pay for what he's done!"

Severus added, "I can't believe he actually tried to assassinate Marlene! If I hadn't accidently knocked that bottle of Butterbeer over that night when I went to visit Marlene, she would have died! Peter had poisoned that one! He mentioned it while he was being interrogated!"

Sirius angrily cried out, "Peter revealed the weaknesses of Bones Manor! No wonder Voldemort was able to storm that place and murder poor Lewis and Alexandria! Susan was orphaned because of him!"

Dumbledore spoke, "Peter has been sentenced to Azkaban for life now. He is as good as dead. Now, we must pity the living."

Sirius said in response, "I promised Lewis that I would love Susan like my own. We're all going to raise Harry and Susan together."

Dumbledore smiled and said, "Lily told me all about it. I like that plan. Both Harry and Susan will be loved."

Ted added, "Draco's quite a sweet little guy. Dora's already started seeing him like a younger brother. He will have a happy childhood as well."

Everyone smiled for a few moments before Dumbledore said gravely, "I wonder how Lily and Amelia would have reacted had they come here. They will need to know all that happened."

That night around 8:45, Lily and Amelia were holding two very sleepy toddlers while sitting at the dining table, having finished dinner a little while ago. Molly was holding Ron and Ginny in her arms while chatting with Lily and Amelia.

Just then, there was a knock on the door and a few moments later, James, Sirius, Severus, Remus and Arthur all stepped inside.

Molly greeted them all and was about to ask if they wanted to eat as she had still had some food leftover. But before she could ask, James asked, "How are Harry and Susan? Are they ok?"

Molly responded, "They've had their dinner and are getting quite sleepy now."

Just then, Lily and Amelia approached them carrying Harry and Susan. Lily asked, "James it's you. What happened today at the trial?"

James took a deep breath before answering, "Before we talk about it, I suggest we put the kids to bed. It's really disturbing what happened today."

Molly gave Ginny to Arthur to hold and said to Lily, "I can put the kids to bed."

Amelia said, "Molly, you don't have to do it alone. We'll all put them to bed together."

Lily, Amelia, Molly and Arthur proceeded up the stairs to put their kids to bed. Lily, Harry, Amelia and Susan were all sharing a room that Molly had specially prepared for them. After putting the kids to bed, the adults went into the living room where the Marauders were gathered.

James was sitting on the sofa with his head in hands when they entered. Lily went and wrapped her arms around him asking, "James is everything ok?"

James looked at his wife sadly and replied, "No it's not. What happened at Peter's trial was more than just disturbing today."

The Marauders then proceeded to tell Lily, Amelia and Molly all that had happened at Peter's trial. By the time they had finished, Lily was in tears with Severus wrapping his arms around her in a brotherly hug, trying to comfort her. As for Amelia, she was trembling with rage. She stood up to her full height and declared, "How could he? Susan lost her parents because he helped Voldemort attack Bones Manor! Harry was targeted because Peter told Voldemort the location! And about what he said about Harry! I'll tear him apart for what he did to my godson, to my babies!"

Molly cried out, "Peter chose power over an innocent child! How could he be so heartless?"

Remus spoke, "Peter has been sentenced to life in Azkaban now. He's as good as dead."

Sirius bemoaned, "He made me think you were the spy! I should have listened to Severus! I should have thought about you as the secret keeper instead of that rat!"

Remus spoke, "Sirius, Peter made me believe that you were the spy! He tried to turn both of us against each other! None of us thought that Peter could be the spy. I would have probably suggested having Peter had I been in your place, so don't blame yourself."

Severus added, "It's not like Voldemort wouldn't have come after me had I been the secret keeper, and I don't blame you."

Sirius, still quite upset, spoke, "I should have thought about either Remus or Dumbledore, if not either one of us. It's my entire fault!"

This time, it was Arthur who spoke, "Sirius! Stop blaming yourself! If there's anyone to blame, it's Peter. He should have kept James, Lily and Harry safe, but he did not. Apart from Peter, it's Voldemort to blame. He was the one who targeted an innocent child in the first place and tried to murder him! You had no idea that Peter had become a Death Eater. You were only trying to protect everyone, so stop blaming yourself Sirius!"

Molly went and wrapped her arms around Lily saying, "The war's over now, and once things calm down, we'll be able give our children a happy childhood, playing freely in the sunshine, without having to be in hiding."

As Arthur and Molly were about to go to bed that night, Molly said to Arthur, "You weren't afraid to say his name."

Arthur replied, "I don't know how I did it, but fear of a name only increases fear of a thing itself. I guess they've all rubbed off on me."

Molly remarked, "They've been a good influence for sure. I'm happy to have Harry and Susan here. Those poor children, one orphaned and the other attacked by You-Know-Who!"

Arthur replied, "They'll be happy. Harry and Susan will be raised together by a big happy family now."
