Hi, faithful readers. I'm making this short thing because I promised you all a one-shot, and I'm getting block on it because I make it up as I go along. So, here's this, something I got the idea for while listening to the All-American Rejects' 'Move Along'. xD
By the way, this is slightly more...mature in one part. Slightly. But blame Junie for that, at the end. P
Tired
It was quite possibly the most boring day ever. At the Monkey Park, anyway.
No one was here. No one was here! The Park had been open for about an hour, and no one was coming. At all.
Well, maybe that was 'cause it opened at about 6 am. But people would usually stop by for a few minutes on their way to work. But, today...nothing.
Specter sighed/yawned heavily, leaning against his tree. He hadn't slept – again – and hadn't for the past few nights, for some reason. It was taking its toll on him. His eyes were half-lidded, and he paused mid-yawn when he heard a familiar female voice.
"You tired?"
He spun around, eyes(or, eye)wide open. "No!" he said crossly, making Junie's smirk widen.
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are!"
"You know, it's with you that I have the most intelligent arguments."
"Hey, it's either me or Monkey Red."
"...True." He let slip another yawn.
"You're tired." Junie repeated, propping her head up on her fists, her elbows on the narrow spaces between the bars of Specter's cage.
"...Yeah, I am."
"Go to sleep." It wasn't something she was asking him to do; she was pretty much commanding him to conk out.
"What!...I can't; I...I'm not supposed to!" Specter exclaimed, rather flustered.
"That didn't stop any of the others." She gestured behind her. Specter gazed out and saw that about half the other monkeys were sleeping.
"...No." he persisted, folding his arms over his chest. There was silence for a few minutes.
That was long enough for Specter to succumb to heavy drowsiness.
Junie saw that he was out. She smiled slightly, then reached through the bars and ruffled Specter's spiky, white hair in a fond sort of way. "G'night, Specter." Somehow, her touch got a sort of purr from Specter's 'subconscious'. "Hey, are you purring?" she asked in a whisper after withdrawing her hand. Then she paused, anticipating no response. She then grinned. "Hey, that's kinda hot." With that, she adjusted her purple hat, and then flew out of the Park.
And so, she never saw the triumphant smile that slowly spread across Specter's face.
End! Finis! Finito! Termino! O.O
Oh my God, that was frickin' fun. xDDD R&R, like I know you will. xP
