He could remember, to an exact science, what emotions were like. He remembered how to cause the emotions he wanted, and he knew how to act as though he actually had then.
Life was the biggest play, and he had been granted the lead. He acted, he faked, he made you believe so fully, until you completely forgot it was nothing but a lie.
When he smiles, the humans thought him happy. He laughed, and nobody was the wiser. He played his part to the dot, doing as he was asked without question.
And then the biggest scene of the play. He acted with anger, because hadn't that been the fuel of his life?
And then a slip of the tongue, a missed line. His act fell apart in a cloud of blood, steel and magic.
For life was a play, and he had just been recast.
