Irrevocably Cliché

"I'm sorry, Sirs." The desk clerk was polite but insistent as she repeated the apology, again. "But there appears to have been a mix-up with the computers. The only room we have available is the Honeymoon Suite. As soon as another vacancy opens up we will inform you immediately. Once again we are very sorry for the mix up but there is nothing more we can do."

Rodney just stared at her but John made a peculiar noise in his throat and then grabbed his bag and turned towards the elevator.

"C'mon, Rodney. It's not like we haven't shared on missions before."

The clerk shot them a curious look behind the apologetic but firm façade and Rodney grabbed his bag too, automatically following Sheppard up the stairs.

It was late and it had been an exhausting couple of weeks. They'd been travelling for about a day and the time difference between Atlantis and Earth was truly staggering so almost the second they were through the door of the room they dumped their bags, wordlessly deciding to unpack in the morning.

Rodney sank down onto the bed and then spotted John making for the couch.

"Don't be ridiculous. Like you said, we've shared on missions before and if we can sleep together in a tiny tent the government somehow considers to be of sufficient size for two full grown men then we can certainly share a king-size bed."

John looked at him with an unreadable expression and Rodney rolled his eyes. "Don't worry, John, your virtue is safe. Any worries you may have about me molesting you in your sleep are completely unfounded."

John hesitated for a second before he finished stripping to his boxers and clambered in, Rodney smirked.

Three hours later John collapsed against Rodney's side, sweaty, sticky and panting and decided that his virtue was most definitely not safe but on further reflection he didn't mind particularly.

Wrapping an arm around him Rodney reflected that he really was a genius and decided that hacking the hotel's computer to land them the Honeymoon Suite was definitely one of the best ideas he'd ever had.
